Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

What's with Thierry?

I finally had a chance to finish watching the Arsenal-Moscow game late last night after returning from Gville. And one question came to mind as I was watching - "What's with Henry?" Now TH-14 has never been known to stick his head in where it might get kicked; but even by his standards, he was far too casual in front of goal. He should have buried at least two of his gilt-edged chances. To say nothing of Rosicky!

Oh, and just in case Gooner thinks I'm picking on the Arse, here's a question for the resident Red Deviler:

Copenhagen 1 United 0 - what's up with that?

Picking your arse? Disgusting!

It's not just TH14! It was a case of shit finishing by the lot of them. We ripped CSKA a new one but just couldn't find the net, twice outrageously. TH14, Rosicky, Hleb, Fabregas, Van Persie; all of them were presented gilt edge chances by CSKA and they fluffed them.

In the Everton game, you could analize that and say that the draw was down to Everton playing a negative game and trying to shut the shop after their go-ahead goal. But this game was different because CSKA played an adventurous 4-4-2 and couldn't contain our play. Still we got nothing for our dominance and it hands us the need to get something from the Hamburg and Porto matches to come in order to go through.

Disappointing to say the least.

Now that you mention it, I was surprised by CSKA's tactics. They really went for it and it was a while before I realized that they were playing at Ashburton Grove - I'm still not used to seeing Arsenal playing at home at a place that doesn't look like Highbury. And those two Brazilians - especially the excellently named Wagner Love - were quite useful. Can't imagine them staying in the tundra that long.

Did you hear that Brazilian on the Guardian podcast speculating that the Brazilians in Russia settle in quickly because the Russian nightclubs are plentiful, the club's expectations are that as long as they do well on the pitch they can do what they like off it, and a supply of willing Russian girls keep them all happy? Could explain it a bit.

I can only imagine how dank Russian discos are - count me out, thanks.
