Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia Question of the Week

It's been a good week for U.S. soccer. First, Becks announces he's coming to L.A. Then Clint Dempsey makes an impressive debut for Fulham and finally the U.S. national team put up a decent 3-1 win against Denmark. With that in mind, who was the U.S. international who played in the inaugural season of the Premiership and scored in that year's F.A. Cup Final - the first to score at Wembley? Who was he playing for and who were the opponents on the day? Bonus points for the score.

Good luck, lads!

John Harkes scored for Sheffield Wednesday against Arsenal in the League Cup Final. They lost 2-1( I think)
They also lost to The Arse in that year's FA Cup Final after a replay. I don't think Harkes scored in either game.

Am I right?

Absolutely correct, sir! Since you nailed that one so quickly, here's another:

Who was the first manager ever sacked in the Premiership and what club did he manage. (Hint - he broke Leeds hearts in 1973).
