Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Messi's "Hand of God" Moment

If you haven't seen it yet, here's Argie phenom Lionel Messi's "Hand of God" goal from the weekend's Barcelona vs. Espanyol match. It's the sort of thing that makes you tear your hair out watching Argentinian players. They've all got bags of talent but when the chips are down, they are some cheating bastards. (Note: it only takes the commentator about three seconds to reference Maradona - nice one!)

I'm surprised that referees and their assistants aren't catching more of these. All they need to do to stop it is start catching these and sending the stumpy little bastids off. If he'd had to miss this weekends games, it would be fitting punishment.

I listened to that Guardian Podcast completely aghast at how PC they were about this issue, even to the extent of equating this with cleverness and going on to say that the English cheat by allowing defenders to "massacre" forwards. What trash! If the Argies don't have the character to cut this out, I reckon that's invitation enough to call them cheats.

Ironically, Messi is already scheduled to miss the weekend's crucial game due to a previous suspension, so maybe justice will be served. I kinda wouldn't mind seeing Real win it now.
