Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Premiership Live!

Saturday is back and we've got some tasty morsels on offer. Liverpool is currently besting Sunderland 0-1 away while my Leeds boy are holding league favorites Forest 1-1 at the City Ground.

And we've got Citeh vs. Arsenal coming up on FSC at 10 a.m.

Join me for a chat on the games, lads.

Liverpool have beaten Sunderland 2-0 with goals from Sissoko and Veronin. Good start to the season for the Reds.

Leeds are down to the last five minutes at Forest 1-1. We've won all three of our games so far late on, so I'm hoping for more late heroics from Kandol or Flo.

And as I type that, Jermaine Beckford has stuck in his second goal of the season in the 89th minute for what I hope is the winning goal. Wow!

Yes! Final score - Forest 1 Leeds 2. Unbelievable stuff from the lads. We're on -6 points now.

Thank you, mate. Arsenal up next - who do you favor in this one? For once, I think you might want the Arse to win this on, right?

Brum have taken the lead at Pride Park

10:06 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

So how did you lot let Casper Schmeichel slip through your grasp?

10:07 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Peter played for Citeh after United.

10:08 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Very diplomatic of you, mate. Are you running for President?

10:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

How can you let RVP get a shot off from there!!!

Fulham have scored at Villa Park.
Dempsey with the goal

10:09 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh yeah, that's right. I'd forgotten that. Still, no love for his former club?

10:10 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Excellent. Dempsey missed a sitter last week for Fulham and I thought he was looking a bit underconfident against Sweden.

Villa look terrible this season.

Charlton are having a tough start and they are losing at home to Wednesday

10:11 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Derby are at the bottom of the Prem for the first time. That should be a familiar position for them this season, I suspect.

10:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Charlton are two down

I was on the phone with a fellow teacher. I used to work with her in elementary school and she is moving up to my school.
She never stops talking.
Who did Arse sub just then?

10:24 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Citeh have had some chances on the break. They should have done better each time

10:24 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Another chance that should have done been put away

The Rugby League Challenge Cup Final is being held at Wembley today.
They better not ruin the playing surface.
I always hated them playing at the old stadium.

10:29 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sorry, mate. I was distracted by Karen too. Women, eh? They never understand that Saturday morning is sacred. Anyway, I think it was a defender. They were talking about Arsenal's injury woes so early in the season, Gallas most notable.

10:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Citeh are not playing that bad

10:31 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bugger, Lamps has scored

10:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

No they aren't. Sven's got them well organized.

Btw, it was Sagna who went off injured, replaced by Denilson. That would be a bad one for them; Sagna was looking pretty good so far.

10:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Lamps has certainly got his shooting boots on these days.

10:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think United only gave Citeh a few chances to score. They have had more already today

10:35 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Short may it continue

10:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The shadows are pretty annoying, aren't they?

Bolton are one up against Reading

10:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bad news for Leeds.
Leyton Orient have scored away from home to take the lead. They are stretching the lead on Leeds.
Don't worry, Leeds will still take em

10:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

After all, they way it is going Leeds are going to end up with 123 points!!!

10:38 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wouldn't mind a few more Lampard goals for England, mate. Yes, the shadows from these newfangled stadia are annoying.

10:38 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Very close for The Arse. Nice move

10:40 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

We'll probably need about 110 points to secure the division championship. A tall order, indeed.

Huddersfield are down right now and Leyton Orient are drawing. As it is we're only ten points off the playoff spots.

10:40 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Now, why doesn't Fabregas hit that one at goal? They're still trying to walk the ball into the net.

10:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Back to your woman coment, my woman is sitting here watching the match with me!!!

10:41 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I thought that Thaksin Shinawatra had been served an extradition order. Why's he at the match? Shouldn't he be on a plane back to Bangkok?

10:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Leyton O. are winning mate

10:44 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Casper's looking a wee bit shaky here.

10:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Off to the loo, I will be right back

There is normally a goal when I leave

10:45 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

West Ham have had penalty call waved off and a Craig Bellamy goal disallowed for offside.

You did almost miss a goal there. RVP should've done better with that one.

10:46 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

The Arse really should be one goal up at least here. They've had the lion's share of the first half, especially towards the end, but that's what happened last weekend too, right?

10:51 AM

congrats Bob. 2-1 is another good result.

11:24 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Citeh should have scored again.

Who is this guy SVEN?

11:25 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Was it a pen?
The ref didn't call it, the linesman did.
Yes, it is an easy pen.

11:29 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Kasper saves the pen!!!

Will Citeh every let a goal in?

350 minutes of no goals. Well done Kasper

11:44 AM

Commentator said Arsenal's relentless pressure. I think Citeh have held their own.

The Hammers have tied it up.
Bowyer with the goal

Blackburn score after 15 minutes
Nice over head kick hits the bar and Santa Cruz scuffs the rebound and that's why it went in.

Phil Milton for England!!!

Actually, is the rumor that England would cap Kaspar Schmeichel true? Does he qualify?

He was certainly the most entertaining player out on the pitch today. Loved him running up the park to put his head on a last ditch effort.

2:06 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't think he can. He played in the U21 or something for Denmark.
Other than that, he could

3:32 PM

Sorry to abandon you abruptly. Karen turned off the Internet connection mid-way through the Arsenal match. So I'll be Internet-less for the next week or so. You lot will have to keep the LOB homefires burning and I'll check in when I can.

Cheers!

Bugger. Still, when we're casting the net for a keeper that far, you know that it's a big problem.
