Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

How central does the footie have to be to the theme? If tangental references are in then my favorite is My Life as a Dog, a Swedish film which has a character in love with the way the Brazilian's play football. Didn't you turn us on to the documentary which had the two worst footie countries playing each other (a team from the Carribean against a team from the Near East?)
I agree with Sir Trev - I would veer away from the footie-centric films such as the egregious "Victory" with Sly Stallone, Michael Caine and Pele. The best of those is probably "Bend it Like Beckham," although the recent "Goal" films aren't too bad.
I'd favor the better films that have a bit of footie tucked in. My favorite is Ken Loach's classic "Kes," which has a brilliant scene with Brian Glover as a bullying PE teacher who insists on playing alongside the kids, calling fouls for himself, taking his own penalties and punching the air in victory after scoring.
I really enjoyed 'Fever Pitch'
I feel about Untied how this guy feels about the Arse.
Good suggestions all. I also thought of that N Korean documentary about their team in '66 that's really good.
And I recommend, "The Cup" a Nepalese film about a group of monks trying to get a satellite set up so they can watch the WC Finals.
Anyone remember a film about a Irish scout for Man United who conducted a ran a bunch of schoolboy trialists through their paces? It had a cameo with George and Callum Best at the end and Callum who might have been about 12 or so was wearing a Giggs shirt. Any clues?
I plan to list all these for future reference so keep thinking.
