Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Footie Trivia Question of the Week

The current Premiership manager of the month is, of course Arsene Wenger. Over the years the Arsenal manager and Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United have been the most frequent recipients of the award.

However, in the first year of the Premiership (1992/3), managers of Wimbledon, Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn and even Oldham Athletic were the Managers of the Month. Name them.

Good luck, lucks.

By the way, the first Premiership season was '92-'93

Blackburn- Kenny Dalglish
Norwich- Nigel Worthington
Oldham Atheltic- Joe Royle

I knew these, I hope, off the top of my head. The others I will have to think about.

Sorry, mate. 92/93 it is. And right you are with those three. Isn't it funny to imagine sides like Oldham in the Prem? But then again, we have the likes of Wigan and Pompey up at the top now - where will they be in ten or fifteen years time?

I actually want to correct one of my answers. I think it was Mike Walker for Norwich. He was really good and then went to Everton and stunk up the joint!!!
I think Worthington was still playing

Wasn't it Joe Kinnear for Wimbledon?
Wasn't this the Trevor Francis years at Hillsborough.
I seem to remember that he was the manager when they played United in the League Cup semis. We drew or won 1-0 at OT in the first leg and then beat them 5-1 at their place!!!

Yes, Mike Walker for Norwich. Worthington was actually still playing at Leeds!

Speaking of Norwich, I saw Kevin Bond interviewed on Sky Sports News today - the bit where they weren't talking about motor sport - and he's the manager of Bournemouth. Looks pretty much the same, just a bit grayer. Is John Bond still alive?
