Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Revolution vs. The Fire Live!

Nice! It's 32 degrees in Foxboro tonight and Blanco looks as if he's wearing a turtleneck. Meanwhile the barmy army in The Fort are shirtless. Love it.

Thompson squeezes his way to the top of the box and just can't get the shot off.

Wanchope nearly snuck in there on the far post but he screwed his shot wide. We really need to shut him down tonight.

Double T strikes one on goal but it's shoveled away by Matt Pickens.

Kano Smith's having some joy down the right side but that time he's penalized for a push.

Half way into the first half and very few clear cut chances so far. That's fairly understandable given the bad blood between the sides, but the Revvies need to figure out how to break down the Chicago defense.

Rolfe is pole-axed by a ball straight in the face from Parkhurst. He may have to go off after that.

Some sloppy work almost let Barrett in there. We're just not clicking so far.

Dangerous free kick but Blanco strikes it straight down Reis' throat.

I am watching it

We're finally getting the grit into the play and it's having an effect. Suddenly things are opening up. But Chicago look dangerous too.

Has Reis ever played for the US.
He is always good when I see him play

YES!!! Way to go Revs.
Great goal

GOAL! Yes, Double T with a bicycle kick. It's 1-0!

Hey Dave - welcome!

I don't think Matty has ever started for the U.S. but he's been the squad. I agree with you - he should be second or third choice behind Tim Howard, but Gooner reckons he's too short.

Bit of an odd camera angle there. From a blimp? It's making my head hurt. What's wrong with the 50 yard line vantage point.

Chad Barrett and Wayne Rooney? I don't think so.

Thomas was just commentating about it having more camera angles than the EPL. I hate it

I thought TT was in again

Half way there

Yes, second half starting and we're forty five minutes away from the final. A bit absurd to be in this position as we were distinctly second best to D.C. this season, but that's the vagaries of the MLS.

A few early chances there. One blast for Larentowicz that goes straight at Pickens and another from Ralston over the bar. He hasn't had his shooting boots on tonight.

Blanco goes down in a heap again after an innocuous challenge from Larentowicz. Waldo kindly says it's hard to know when his reaction is real and when it's not. "It's just part of his game." In other words, he's a bloody cheat.

Brown all over Twellman there. Quick free kick runs into the area but no one home.

9:03 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bit of sloppiness from Heaps lets in Barrett who slides one near post but Reis has it.

9:06 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Come on, Kano. Get up you big poof!

9:11 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Another crazy camera angle there on the cross from Ralston. What's next - a camera on the ball?

Why bother with "The Scoring Summary?" There's only been one goal. How hard is that to keep up with. I'm sorry to wank on about the coverage, but honestly it does me head in.

Blogger gatorbob said...

Half an hour left to gut this one out. We haven't actually played that well, but Twellman's spectacular effort may be enough.

9:14 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Matty Reis goes down in a heap after the gangly Wanchope hacks him. Get the card out, ref!

9:16 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

How many shots have gone sailing into Row Z of the Fort tonight. Bloody Norah!

9:18 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Twellman tries a cheeky chip but Pickens picks it off. Just.

9:19 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Blanco's getting far too much space to float these crosses in for Wanchope.

9:21 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Twenty minutes left and the Fire are starting to lose their minds.

9:21 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Long effort from Segares has Reis stretching.

I'm sick and tired of the Blanco worship from these assholes. He's on the losing side, lads!

9:25 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Justin Mapp is coming on for Chad Barrett.

9:26 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Noonan and Twellman again failing to link up decently.

Congratulations Bob!!!

Not a very impressive display by both teams. The passing was atrocious.

The MLS has to get better

Full-time: 1-0! Didn't play well but we're through to another final. Let's be having Houston!

Sorry the house is in total uproar and now it's two stories away from the computer.

Good on ya Gator. Glad to see the back of Blanco, the cheatin' no-neck freak. Piss off and play in Australia is my suggestion. Rot in hell is another.

So just one more hurdle and it's all the marbles. You have the Gooner's support.
