Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Big Premiership Weekend

The first match is finished and everything's peachy in Goonerland. Good luck to all the other LOB-sters and their teams today.

Morning, Dave. I'm up here in D.C. without the FSC this morning, so I'll be depending on you for the details.

Good win for the Arse, as you say, although the 365 website says they were lucky that Robbie Keane didn't have has shooting boots on today. Bendtner scored late on.

I've got my eye on Leeds vs. Bristol Rovers.

Good news - Oldham have taken the lead over Southend.

Liverpool have taken the lead against Pompey. Yossi Benayoun with a volley after a cross from Kewell.

And not to be outdone by the Merseysiders, their rivals Citeh have scored through Martin Petrov. He must be one of the best signings of the season.

Liverpool are two-nil up! Own goal by Distin.

And Villa have equalized at home to Citeh.

Bugger! Forest are one-up. They're the only side that I fear in Division 1.

Sorry Trev, Boro are one-up in that crucial match-up with West Ham.

And Dean Ashton has equalized a minute later. It's 1-1. Ashton for England?

Half-time around the Premiership. It's still 0-0 between Fulham and Wigan. If Fulham are going to be able to stay up, they desperately need wins against the fellow bottom-dwellers.

I agree Gator. I've been watching Martin Petrov for years as an admirer of his skill and completely tenacious style of play. Every time I see him I think that Arsene should have been watching him and not let him get away when he was available. I think that we were thinking that Rosicky would be a similar type of player, if not as aggressive. I admit a little frustration with him, especially since Ludovic Guily and Petrov were apparently on the market at the same time we bought him. But today, he laid on Ade's goal and quite skillfully too, by all accounts.

Yeah, the Spuds missed a pen and Keane hit the crossbar from 5 yards out, but reading along with the text this morning, we should have gone in to the tunnel at halftime 2-0 up. Berbatov's occasional cameos notwithstanding, I find it odd that anybody can take the Spuds seriously at all. Their squad is littered with serial wasters (both of the Jermaines for a start) and I cannot be the only person who thinks so.

I look at the result today and say the Spuds were lucky not to be handed the hiding that a back-four of Kaboul, Lee, Chimbonda, and a pressed-in-to-defensive-service Tainio deserves to be handed every fixture that they play.

If it were not for a cadre of London journos brought up as children watching Klinsmann, Lineker, Hoddle, Gazza, and the entertaining Tora, Tora, Tora, lineups that Ozzie sent out, I think most commentators would treat them as the Premiership also-rans that they have become.

Second halfs starting up again.

I agree, Gooner. There are also a lot of former big clubs who get by on reputation. Newcastle are treated like a big club but haven't won anything beyond the Intertoto for yonks. I suppose being the only game in town helps too.

Benjani has nicked a goal back for Pompey. 2-1 Liverpool.

Clint Dempsey has equalized for Fulham. Good lad. They need another.

Bolton have seemed to have seen off Birmingham now. It's 2-0.

Torres has scored a second goal and it's 4-1 Liverpool now. They've done a number on Pompey today.

I walked in the door to see Tores score Costa Del Pool's fourth

The basketball was boring or Leeds? Or both? I can't say that we're playing well but the morale about the place has to be sky high at this point. Be worried, be very worried, Forest and Swansea.

Boring.. Leeds.... never
I was definitely talking basketball

No 5:15 game today

Fulham and Wigan draw
Reading score a late winner against Keano's boys, West Ham win and Villa Citeh draw

Forest game is final. So is Orient's nil niler

Apparently the Reading goal was controversial. I'm waiting for Keano to burst a gasket as he used to at United. He's been very restrained this season.

Very pleased with United's win today.
Everton were a handful in the first half but the second half was all United. A cast iron penalty for United in the last three minutes. Not even Everton could complain!!
