Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!
20 Comments:
Well, I'll give you the first ten:
1. Leeds United
2. Arsenal
3. Manchester United
4. Liverpool
5. Chelsea
6. Tottenham
7. Newcastle
8. Aston Villa
9. Everton
10. Manchester City
Ten down... 13 to go
Of course, I don't think you have the correct #1!!
Okay, at first I thought that there were surely more than 23 clubs who'd won the championship, but that I've started thinking about it, it's harder to come up with them than I thought.
Here are five more I'm pretty sure about:
11. Blackburn Rovers
12. Derby County
13. Nottingham Forest
14. Preston North End
15. Wolverhampton Wanderers
Those are all correct.
15 down, 8 more to go
Really? Amazing, I was completely winging it there with the last one or two. Now, for the total guesses:
16. Burnley
17. Blackpool
18. Fulham
19. Stoke City
20. Sheffield Wednesday
You are correct with Burnley, and Sheff. Wednesday.
That is 17 down and six to go
The rest of you stink!!!
Okay, so no luck for Fulham, Blackpool or Stoke fans, eh? It's amazing to think that there are clubs who've been around for yonks and haven't really won anything. What do their fans keep coming back for over the years - hope for a good Cup run?
Okay, here are a few more guesses:
18. Ipswich Town
19. Notts County
20. WBA
I'm really clutching at straws at this point. I need help!
Crystal Palace
Leyton Orient
Cheers, Trev. I can use all the help I can get!
Finally someone else chimes in but they are both wrong.
Bob, you were right with Ipswich and WBA
19 down... four to go
I am proud of you for not looking it up
Okay, so no Notts County, Palace or Orient. How about Bolton Wanderers?
Nope, not Bolton Wanderers.
Would you like some clues for your last four?
Yes, please!
You are missing two Premier League teams.
Another team is a city rival of one you have already named.
The last team's championships has a connection to The Arse!
Have fun following the footer today.
The big three are all playing on Saturday at 3 for the first time this season. I have to leave to go to Matt's basketball game!!!
I will your comments when I get home
Really? Two Premier League clubs? That's surprising, since I'd thought that I'd got all of them.
Well, Trev would have mentioned West Ham so it's not them. Pompey, Reading and Wigan surely don't have the pedigree.
So, I'll guess Fulham and Birmingham City. For the other one, maybe Sheffield United?
I looked up the answers today . . . it was an excellent trivia question . . .full marks to you Dave.
The two Premiership teams are
Sunderland
and Portsmouth(the only team south of London to win the league)
The other two are Sheffield Utd and a 1930s three-peater under Hebert Chapman Huddersfield
Cheers, Dave. That was a good 'un!
It was good but I thought the same as you. "There had to be more than 23 winners!!"
