Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

News of a retirement.
Ohh Teddy Teddy Sheringham has announced his retirement at the end of the season.
He has been around for yonks!!
He only won things at Old Trafford but he has been a good player.
Your thoughts?

Morning, Dave! I'm back in Gville and looking forward to a cracking day of the footer.
We're off at the Emirates
We are indeed. Will Arsenal win one for Eduardo. Hang on to your hats. It's the first time in yonks when all three title-contenders have been playing at the same time.
Meanwhile, Leeds are still 0-1 up at halftime in Swindon. A first win for Gary McAllister would be very, very welcome.
And Doncaster have already taken the lead at Tranmere to keep up their claim on second spot in Division 1. A draw would probably be the best result for us.
Well come back from Siberia
Nice turn and shot by Theo. Nice save by England's number 3 number 1
All three of the big three kicking off at 3 o'clock is one thing. All of them kicking off in LONDON is something else
The lasting memory I'll have of Ready Ted is the 4-1 England win over Holland at Euro 96 that Gooner and I witnessed at first hand. Teddy was at his cultured best that night.
You guys were at Wembley???
Hi to my Bros is if you are following
Hi back to Mike and Tone.
Yep, we had tickets to all of the England matches at Wembley, plus Italy vs. Russia at Anfield and Germany vs. Russia at Old Trafford. A real highlight of my footie watching life.
The Prem's first goal
Birmingham have taken the lead against the League Cup Winnners
Martin Tyler with the point
It is now March. The white ball is back
Villa should have just scored!!
Good tackle by Gallas on Gabby Ag.
Walsall are now leading Luton away. The results aren't really running for us today.
From 365: "Danny Murphy forces Edwin Van der Sar into a brilliant save with a volley from 25 yards out. Brilliant save by the Dutchman as that was heading into the bottom corner."
Boy, I am jealous of your '96 stories.
Mike, Tony, brother-in-law Jon and his brother Phil had a choice of either semi final. They decided that England wouldn't win their group so they picked the Old Trafford semi. They chose wrong. They were really bummed.
You never told me that you went to Old Trafford. I AM REALLY JEALOUS
Keep it up VDS... come on United get your finger out
YES!!! THANK YOU!!
Owen Hargreaves scores his first United goal!!
Yeah, it's the only time that I've been to OT. I've seen United at Derby with the old Bobby Charlton, George Best side in the early 70s and in the later 70s at Maine Road against Citeh, but never at OT.
Nice one, Owen. Back in the side, eh?
From 365: "GOAL - FULHAM 0 MANCHESTER UNITED 1. A wonderful free-kick by Owen Hargreaves goes up and over the wall and into the corner of the net, leaving Niemi with no chance. A brilliant goal by the England midfielder."
Lampard has scored against his old club
Sorry Sir Trev
Why didn't Maloney shoot
I am jealous with how much footer you went to. I wish I knew you before middle school!! I would have bribed my way into the trips
You say the scores aren't going your way. It is at Swindon!!!
You'd always have been welcome. Still, we saw some good 'uns. Weren't you on the Host Nation trip when we saw Maradona at Wembley? Another highlight.
Blimey, Chelski are 0-2 up now!
I guess Chelsea have recovered from the Cup Final defeat.
Another ex Hammer scores
Cole with #2
Yes, I was there at Wembley
But you went to OLD TRAFFORD!!!
Sir Trev's not blowing any bubbles today, apparently.
Arsenal had a chance for a break but they slowed it down
Bloody Hell. Chelsea are three up
Bollocks with the third inside 25 minutes
I don't think he used to play at Upton Park
Villa haven't beaten Arsenal since '98!!
Villa aren't playing badly here.
An own goal for Senderos. Not really his fault
Ags is causing a lot of trouble
Bloody hell, what has Senderos done. It's an own goal! Hapless.
FSC have a first half goal from their 10 o'clock game!! Will wonders ever cease?
WEST HAM 0 CHELSEA 3. What a response by Chelsea after their Carling Cup final defeat! A wonderful strike by Michael Ballack as he volleys past Robert Green and into the bottom corner of the net.
Villa look very dangerous.
Could they get fourth?
Agbonlehor needs to play for England!
Come on United get a second please
I agree with you on Ag. Dunno if Villa can claim fourth, though. Either Spurs or Liverpool in my book.
As things stand, you lot are on top due to goal difference. Chelski six points back in third.
What are your thoughts on Reading?
Do you want them to survive?
You do mean Everton or Liverpool not Spurs and Pool
Spurs are in the bottom half and losing today
From 365: "Spurs are all over Birmingham at St Andrews at the moment - Berbatov pulling the strings - but they still trail to that early Forssell header. Jamie O'Hara is the latest to go close, shooting straight at Maik Taylor from a tight angle. Birmingham 1 Tottenham 0."
Yeah, Everton or Liverpool. Spurs will be in the UEFA due to the Carling.
I'd be fine with Reading going down. My only warm feeling for them was that they had Bobby Convey, but he's been replaced by that nasty little sod Stephen Hunt in the first. I'd rather see Fulham stay up.
RED CARD - LAMPARD. It's all kicking off at Upton Park and Lampard is sent off for a push on Luis Boa Morte. Now all the Chelsea players are surrounding the referee although it was a harsh red sending off.
Lampard has just been sent off!!!
Villa was doing this to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They blew it right at half. Will the same happen here?
What a cracker from Maloney and Almunia was beaten, saved by the angle.
1541: "Lampard and Boa Morte should both have been booked. It didn't warrant a red card."
BBCi Score's Garth Crooks
Will they appeal?
Did you see the Boro appealed and the ban was extended!!
Off the bar from Villa
That was saved
United should be getting a second
They have outshot Fulham 10-3
Yeah, the FA didn't much of that Boro appeal and Ali-ad-a-mare got his ban extended to four matches, while Martin Taylor got away with three for GBH!
Thank you
PARK WITH NUMBER 2
Don't be greedy lad. My boys are still 0-1 and I'm just hoping that they don't concede a silly late goal now.
FULHAM 0 MANCHESTER UNITED 2 It's Ji-Sung Park who gets the goal after a superb passing move by the visitors. Tevez, Nani and Scholes combine really well and it's an easy headed finish for the South Korean.
There's your second goal - all the scrubs are scoring today. Who's next - Quinton Fortune?
That was dangerous cross from Villa.
Senderos did well with that cross
Cambridge are beating York
Is it over yet at Swindon?
Fabregas should have smashed that one instead of trying to finesse it. He hasn't had his shooting boots on recently.
Half time at the Emirates.
Villa are looking good
King Kev still struggling. No goals at half
Into stoppage time at Swindon. Hang in there, you Whites!
The OTHER Old Firm game is at half
Stafford RANGERS 0 Farsley CELTIC 1
And it is over
Congratulations for Gary Mac's first win.
Your day is worry free Robert!!
Half-time in the Premier League: Arsenal 0 Villa 1, Birmingham 1 Spurs 0, Derby 1 Sunderland 0, Fulham 0 Man Utd 2, Middlesbrough 0 Reading 0, Newcastle 0 Blackburn 0, West Ham 0 Chelsea 3.
Thank you, mate. We needed a good win today. It puts us back in contention for a play-off spot.
Looking at the pictures from the Beeb
Chelsea are wearing white today instead of their horrible other shirts.
Not nice from Villa
1556: "Villa fans signing songs about Eduardo's injury - nice people."
Dan, Emirates, via text on 81111
As it stands now, Leeds are two points out of the playoffs.
Off we go at the Emirates.
Boy, The Arse almost make a stunning start.
Arsenal quick out of the traps and Walcott draws a good save from Scottie Carson.
This is going to be an onslaught in the second half. Villa can't just sti back
Yikes, not such a good shot by Hleb
It's all Arsenal now, isn't it?
Cambridge are two up
I hope they get back into the league.
Top spot is probably too far away. A play off win would do
Sotton have taken the lead against Ipswich
That could have been a pen!
Did you think it was a penalty there? Of course you did!
I don't think Adebayor should have gotten in the Vila's face. He didn't dive
Villa are coming back.
Nice save by Almunia
No I didn't think it was but I don't think he was looking for it
Ipswich have tied it up
The Arsenal lads have got to do some shooting practice this week. They need to at least test the keeper with those chances!
I agree
Birmingham have a scored a second.
That is only the 8th goal in the Prem from only four games.
When is Newcastle going to score!!
Bendtner coming on to partner Adebayor. Can they get along?
Free kick opportunity for Arsenal here...
Fabregas dinks it over and Bendtner heads over the bar.
Free kick chance for Arsenal.
Headed over
Why didn't he take a whack at it?
Birmingham have scored a third!!!
Fabregas has looked really out of sorts today. Two really poor corners in a row. He turned white as a sheet when he saw Eduardo's leg last week and I wonder if he isn't suffering the after effects today.
He was the closest to the leg break.
It may be effecting him
From 365: "Michael Owen misses another glorious chance for Newcastle as he is sent clean through on goal by Joey Barton. The England striker tries to slot the ball into the bottom corner but Brad Friedel makes another brilliant save. Still Newcastle 0 Blackburn 0."
United haven't done much in the second half
What is up with Michael Owen??
Chelsea down to ten men are now up by four!! Cole with his second
Why wasn't he playing at Wembely last week?
Sunderland must step up and score in the second half in order to keep my dream of Derby not reaching double figures alive!
Dunno, he'd be on my team sheet every time.
If Keano's men don't win at Pride Park, they'll never win away from home
So many times you watch Arsenal and they're doing this same thing of dinking it about the eighteen yard box, looking for the killer pass.
It reminds me of those backyard games at the Dossys when someone would block the fireplace piece and the attackers would lay siege on it trying to pass it back and forth until there was an opening.
What great memories those were.
YES
United go three up!! An OG
Sad for Fulham.
Not at all
Fee kick chance for Villa
Blimey, Philippe Senderos is making Marlon Harewood look like a world beater.
Boy, I am glad they aren't called by their whole names
Man Utd makes a sub: Oliveira Luis de Abreu Anderson enters for Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha Nani.
Another chance for Villa
I know I shouldn't say this but... if Arsenal score, they will score another. Ask Fulham
Bristol City on top of the Championship. What will they be like next season?
Hleb is the worst culprit with the dribbling and looking for the killer pass
What kind of clearance was that!!!!
Villa survive
Gordon Bennett!!!
Birmingham have scored a fourth!!!
Not good news for Leeds.
Orient have scored a late goal
Villa don't look they are very dangerous right now.
This is not the right way to get through the last few minutes.
Yeah, those Portuguese names are unwieldy because they've got to get both parents families in on it.
It looks like Villa will hang on here.
If it stays this way, it brings Chelsea right back into it
That cross should have beaten the first man
4 minutes of added time
Arsenal don't look close to getting a key ball across to someone.
Spurs have scored
United win 3-0
I knew Arsenal would score.
Will they get a second
Bendtner! He's saved the day for the Arse right at the death. Arsenal have nicked a point and retain the lead of the Premier League.
That's it.
United were close to going top but it is now down to 1 point
I am off to basketball.
Good to spend the morning with you
Cheers
Three late goals in the Prem:
Villa 1 Arse 1
MIDDLESBROUGH 0 READING 1
NEWCASTLE 0 BLACKBURN 1
Crikey!
Great chatting with you, mate.
Quite relieved with the 1-1 scoreline after a really poor performance from Arsenal. And it's a bit shocking too that the Eduardo injury didn't galvanize the team spirit a little more than that. Maybe they were leaving a bit in the tank for Milan in midweek?
A point about Villa's performance though... They are shockingly poor up front. I haven't seen the Optima stats but if they had 15 shots on goal, I wouldn't be surprised. Yet they didn't score even their goal! And for all the banging on that Tyler and Lumpy did, Aglonbahor is a waster. He should have had his hat-trick done and dusted going into the half with the way he had Sendaros on the ropes. Not just taking his chances either. I'm talking about converting just the sitters. And he didn't and so please, spare me the Aglonbahor praises.
Arsenal must do better though. Wolcott in particular needs to adapt in the absence of Eduardo and Rip Van Persie who may never be seen again until the Euros where undoubtedly, he'll get crocked again so that we won't have him next season either. Clichy, I suspect he's playing through a light injury so I'm not as worried about him. We must get Toure back soon however. Sendaros' displays are making the Gooner faithful pine for the days of Pascal Cygan again!
Hah-hah, Spurs!
