Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

First shock of the day could be on the cards.
Bristol Rovers take an 84th minute lead at home to Southampton
Just looked up the Champions League tilt on ESPN 2
Liverpool/Inter on Tuesday
Arsenal/Milan on Wednesday.
Lovely jubbley and I have the whole week off.
Rovers have dumped out the Saints.
Morning, Dave. It is a cracking week of the footer. I should be around for the Arsenal vs. Milan on Wednesday. Week off? Is that the Winter Break for you?
The Doncaster vs. Leeds match was called off for a frozen pitch today. How's the weather in Scotia?
Nice build up to the big 'un on FSC there with clips from the famous 1979 final - still the best one I've ever seen. "One giant must go." Good stuff. I'll look forward to your commentary, Dave.
FSC is going to show the Chelski vs. Huddersfield on tape delay after the Liverpool vs. Barnsley at noon, so I'd prefer to avoid hearing the score before then if possible.
With Torres still injured, it's Kuyt and Crouchie up front again.
Liverpool goes one up; the Labrador pops one in from close range. It's certainly been coming. Lots of chances for Liverpool.
This has become the clash of heads. First a Barnsley defender gets wounded by Crouchie. Now Xavi Alonso has to go off with blood streaming down his face. Stevie G. a decent replacement for him.
Half-time: It's 1-0 Liverpool and deservedly so. They should be able to coast home at this point and save their energy for the Champions League in midweek.
I am back Bob.
I will keep the score from the Bridge quiet.
The other scores are
Cardiff 2 Wolves 0
Coventry 0 WBA 1
The Swans are drawing nil nil at Port Vale
Carlisle's game is off
Orient are beating Luton 1-0
Tranmere are two up with Millwall
Southend are drawing with Bournemouth
Does anyone want to win the Coke?
Watford are losing at Charlton.
Stoke will stay on top
Reading your old comment... yes it is winter break. Boy do I need it!!
Scotia is a cold but sunny today. We may be getting a storm tomorrow.
We're off
Come on Barnsley
Second half starting and no changes for either side.
Thanks for the updates, Davey and for keeping stum about Chelski-Huddersfield.
Do you think Pool have any chance against Inter? I don't.
Sir Michael Parkinson, eh? He's still Parky to me.
Did you see that United have played Premiership teams TEN times in a row.
They beat Wolves away in the Fifth Round of the 2006 Cup. Wolves were in the Coke at the time. They then lost to Liverpool in the quarters.
Liverpool was followed the next year by Aston Villa, Portsmouth, Reading, Middlesbrough, Watford and Chelsea all of the Prem.
This year they have drawn Villa, Spurs and now Arsenal,
Talk about a tough road!!
The Tractor Boys have taken the lead at the Road
I hope Costa get beaten by Inter.
I am usually an English fan but Rafa and the Reds annoy me that they can produce for the CL but not the Prem
Chance for a cross for Barnsley. He blew it
I agree. I don't think Rafa gives a toss about the Premiership.
The bloke being taken off is an old Fergie Fledgling.
What are thoughts about the big one?
Bugger, my computer is ahead of the TV again
I knew that was going to happen.
Ruddy norra
Well, well, well. Barnsley are back in it. A neat header from Stephen Foster beats Itandje. 1-1. game on!
I reckon that the big one has a draw written all over it. Saving energy for midweek.
Cambridge have taken the lead at The Shay. Who are they playing? Do you know who plays at The Shay?
Oh, Crouchie shoulda had that one.
Boy Costa were close there. What last ditch defending that was
Come on Barnsley!! Score another one in front of The Kop!!
Ipswich have scored a second
Come on Barnsley!! Score another one in front of The Kop!!
Ipswich have scored a second
Barnsley fans chanting "Who are ya?" Good stuff.
Watford scored two goals in minute to tie it up The Valley
WBA are two up at Coventry
Talking about United's draws.
How about Liverpool?
Luton, Havant and Waterlooville and Barnsley
Leeds are down to 8th if the scores stay the same
Bob's buggered off to find out who plays at The Shay!!
No, I'm still here. What's happening at the Shay?
Boy, Barnsley are giving some goalmouth scrambles to Costa but they can't bury it!!
Don't you read the posts?
Look back
Nice save
Swansea have just taken the lead
Another good save
Why is he taking off Babble?
For Wednesday?
Boos from Anfield
Sorry, mate. I missed that one. I'm putting together a packet of clippings on the Munich Air Disaster that my mom sent from the Guardian coverage. Good stuff. I'll send it on to you on Tuesday.
Got to be saving him for Wednesday. Rafa apparently cares even less about the Cup than the Prem.
Barnsley have a chance here.
That would be great.
A friend of mine does an anniversary web page. I told him about Munich. He wrote this.
http://web.mac.com/hallsofame/iWeb/Legacies/February.html
He is no soccer fan. He did it because of me
That was a foul
Nice tribute and an interesting website.
The Beeb agrees
Kayode Odejayi is clearly taken out by Charles Itandje just outside the Liverpool penalty area and the referee gives nothing. Terrible decision.
I am skyping my sister right now and she told me an interesting fact.
Stevie G. is the only person to score in the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and UEFA Cup Finals!!!
Shame he hasn't won the Premiership.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Into the last ten minutes.
Barnsley did win at Anfield in their Prem days!!
WBA are five up at Coventry
What a shot by Harry!!!
Great save again
Swansea are two up
Almost a winner for BARNSLEY!!
Still no answer about The Shay!
Blackpool score a late goal at Portman Road. Still 2-1
Team News from OT
United have rested Ronaldo.
Scholes and Tevez on the bench
That was a penalty!!!
THEY SCORE ANYWAY!!!!
It was the same guy that got fouled
It's OVER!!!
Well done Barnsley!!!!
Wow! Incredible ending. Liverpool are out of the Cup.
Interesting team selection there for you lot, Dave. What do you make of that?
I don't know what Fergie is up to.
Just in from a kick about with the kids .. . .Well done, Barnsley!!!!
I'll be relying on your updates from OT as I'm watching Chelski vs. 'Uddersfield.
You never told me who plays at The Shay - I have no clue!
Bollocks and Nic Anelka rested for the Champs League?
Here are the teams
VDS
Brown,
Rio
Vidic
Evra
Fletcher
Carrick
Anderson
Nani
Park
Rooney
VERY STRANGE
Saha,Scholes, Tevez Oshea on the bench
Halifax
Lehman
Hoyte
Galas
Toure
Traore
Eboue
Fabregas
Gilberto
Helb
Da Siva
Bendtner
Very evenly matched, I'd say.
Halifax, eh? I'd have never got that. Henri Bergsson.
I am listening to Gary Linekar right now.
The picture and sound is a little iffy today
Still, you've got to love being able to listen to Lineker, eh? Good stuff. Wish I had a sister in Blighty.
Is the correct answer!!
If Chelski play the usual boring Avram Grant style today, I'm going to give up at half time and get some work done.
Right, here's one for you. What's the nickname of Huddersfield Town? I just looked it up - no cheating!
Brilliant clearance off the line there from Kalou's shot.
Great to hear John Motson's voice
So how many Premiership sides are still in the Cup now, after Liverpool being dumped out - five? six? Some of the Coke sides left in definitely have a chance of making the final now, especially with the big sides involved in the Champs League as well.
Have they kicked off yet?
Chelsea, MU/Arse
and maybe Pompey and Boro
Bristol R., Cardiff, WBA, Barnsley
and maybe Preston and Sheff Utd
Off at Old Trafford
United in Red and The Arse in white
It's all Chelski now, with Huddersfield with their backs to the wall, barely getting out of their own half.
It's interesting that FSC are using two of their own - Nick Webster and Keith Costigan - for the commentary on this match. Costigan's a big Liverpool supporter - he must be hurting today. That was a stunner at Anfield.
You'd have to fancy an in-form Coke side like West Brom to make the semis and maybe a final appearance. The only thing that might hold them back is that they're fighting for promotion.
Not much happening at Old Trafford
One nil to the Chelski
I knew that was going to happen
Chelski 1-0. Lamps slotting home from a nice cross from Sinclair. Good team goal and good to see Lamps back on the scoresheet.
Not for a blue shirt!!
Yes for red or white
Anderson with a good shot.
Saved by the Mad German
I thought that Lehmann might make a move back to Germany during the January window, but apparently not.
My connection with England is hopeless today. Very rough picture and sound.
Corner to United. Cleared for another
Claimed by Lens
So which Premiership side would you like to draw in the 6th round?
A short back pass almost puts in United.
Cleared
Boro
The boys have commandeered the TV with Syracuse Georgetown Hoops.
Keep me informed.
ROONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One nil
From a corner, it was cleared and put back in and he scores with his head
Fletcher scores for UNITED!!!
Two-nil to the good guys after only 20 minutes!!!
Rooney almost scores again!!!
COME ON UNITED!!!
GET SOME MORE!!
sorry steve
Keep it tight United
Free kick chance for United but no Ronaldo or Becks to take it.
Nani steps and it is easily saved by Lens
Where are you Bob?
Chelski are coasting on their one-nil lead here with Huddersfield not showing much ambition. As we saw at Anfield earlier, that's a risky strategy. There's a long way to go.
No comment on my lot!!!
Huddersfield win their first corner in the 37th minute.
I shall not be baited into that lion's den. May the best side win. That's it.
Wayne Bridge is playing well. I wonder if Don Fabio is watching this one.
30 minutes gone at Old Trafford
Huddersfield stringing together a few passes inside the Chelski half and getting some oles from their support. A bit much, eh?
milk it when you can
Did you see that Bridge said that he will leave if he isn't starting in the Cup Final next week.
Rooney almost with another
YES!!!
Huddersfield with a goal!!
How are these guys doing with the commentary? I'm not listening
1-1! What did I say about Chelski employing a risky strategy. They already had their minds on the Champs League and forgot that they were playing a match today! Paulo Ferreira caught napping and he's punished.
They're not bad. Not bad at all. Webster had a nice line earlier about Kalou finding Row Zed.
Keeper shouldn't have been beaten at the near post with a weak outside of the foot effort
Arsene is complaning to the fourth official.
Nani scores United's third after 38 minutes!!!!!
More than I ever could have wished for!!
Are Arsenal definitely throw in the towel and concentrate on Wednesday?
To quote Motto
"into Stoppage Time"
Half time at Old Trafford.
Very happy chappy in Scotia
Apparently, Rooney has been unbelievable.
Fletcher's goal maybe an own goal by Galas. He already scored one for us this season.
3-0! You've got to be over the moon. That's an unbelievable half time score. Arsenal would do well just to get their heads right for Wednesday now.
So, what about Arsenal as champions, you lot as FA Cup winners and Chelski as Carling Cup winners? Share the spoils around?
NO
Didn't think so.
Chelski still making hard work of this lot although they still seem to be the logical winners here.
How did Lamps get a second bite of the cherry?
And there it is! 2-1! It's Lamps again, who has two bites at the apple before sticking it in.
I think it was cherry that he had a bite of
They're coming out for the second half.
I am having major connection problems today
Rooney is almost in early
A disallowed goal there for Pizzarro. That would have been Huddersfield down and out.
Eduardo gets carded
Rooney with a free kick chance
Just wide from a deflection off the wall
Eboue with a high studs and is sent straight off
The Beeb say that it was an easy one.
What I can see from it is that he led with the foot as he went up.
I can't really tell
Lawrenceson said that he may not have meant it but it was a horrible challenge
three one to Chelski
1828: "Eboue left his head in Ghana."
ZZTop on 606
Rooney is being booked
He was booked for not letting an Arsenal player getting the ball after the whistle was blown.
He is silly sometimes!!
Still having problems with Skype
It may be because there are 10 million people on it right now!!
Where have you gone Bob?
Why would you make a rash challenge when your side is already 3-0 down? Crazy!
Sorry, I was on Skype with my mom for a moment. Saturdays are like that.
I agree.
Arsenal making a triple substitution.
United-Chelski in the next round? That would be tasty!
Maybe my Skype will work better. You're off the ruddy line
A Saha sighting at OT.
Rooney going off for Saha
Webster is saying that Huddersfield haven't disgraced themselves. I agree. For a League One side, not a bad outing.
Scholes coming on for Anderson
I had no probs with Skype.
Robbie Williams is playing for Huddersfield. Surely he should stick to the pop music. Boom boom.
Nice one Basil
Into stoppage time at the Bridge.
FOUR NIL
Fletcher with another!!!
Robbie nearly scored a free kick there. Not a bad effort.
A big roar goes up at Stamford Bridge. That must have been for the fourth goal going in at OT. Not a lot of Arse fans in the crowd apparently.
Was it in tune??
Boom boom
And that's it. Full time score - 3-1 Blues. Fairly comprehensive in the end. That's what I expected from Pool this morning, but they were nowhere near as professional at Chelski. You have to say that Grant has them clicking along - not pretty but effective.
It not live you ninny!!
Right, Basil, I'm off into the shower and then I have to hit the library. Nice chatting with you. Will I hear from you tomorrow am?
I will be here.
Take care
Oh yeah, I wonder what they were cheering? The goal for Barnsley? That must've been it.
That would be it
Into three minutes of stoppage time
It is over
I am obviously very pleased.
Let's hope all four teams can do well in Europe.
See you tomorrow
It's Sunday morning and I'm settling in to watch Pompey take on Preston.
Boro have escaped Sheffield this morning with a 0-0 draw.
Fairly uninspiring start to this match.
Morning Bob
Shame about the scoreless draw this morning. Let's hope this isn't the same
Morning, Dave. I was just thinking that Pompey are a shadow of the side they were earlier in the season with Benjani on board. They're making hard work of PNE here.
Would 50,000 people pay for this shite in Dubai or Singapore? I think not.
Pompey starting to create a few chances
I have to get off the computer in a little while. My friend is coming over to add Leopard to my Mac.
I will check in later
I'm about to give up on this one - it's been dire.
