Good start from Liverpool.

Are they and Chelsea back in the Title hunt?

3:47 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I wanted to listen to the scores on Talksport but they are having commentary of the Liverpool match and now it has just been blacked out!!

3:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

News from Elland Road... they have kicked off. Sorry about that.

3:49 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Shame about that. I don't reckon either Chelski or Liverpool have a reasonable shot at the championship.

I'm not sure about the way that the Pool defense is lining up - a bit rickety back there.

3:50 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I thought they were a little shaky as well.
As for the Title,
Arsenal 29 66
United 28 64
Chelsea 27 58
Liverp. 29 56

It is not that clean cut

Blogger United We Stand said...

Doncaster have already taken the lead

3:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What was that for? Handball? Encroachment? I guess the latter. The ball isn't any closer.
He better keep his hand to himself young Babel

Did you see Ibrahmovic's free kick in the league recently. It hit the crossbar but it was hit so hard!!
Both Thomas and both reacted the same.
Ooof!!

As usual, most of the top sides are playing duff sides in Division 1. The exceptions are Southend vs. Forest and Swansea vs. Tranmere. I'll take a Swansea win and a 0-0 draw in the other.

3:59 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Looked like encroachment called. In any case, both free kicks were rubbish.

4:00 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Why even bother with Swansea? They are too far gone. Just have them win

4:00 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

That's what I said. Swans to win and the other a draw.

Babbel has got to be more careful. He's on a yellow and he's just shoved Maicon over. Silly twit.

Rumor has it that Luis Figo is on his way to the Revolution in the summer. I'm not keen. As you know, I don't like Portugeezers.

Southend are beating Forest
Swindon are beating Orient

4:10 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Carlisle are one up

4:11 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And Carlisle are one up, unfortunately.

Why couldn't Babbel reach that through ball? I thought he was supposed to be speedy. If he'd slid the keeper and poked it in, that would've been curtains for Inter.

4:12 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He seemed to give up on it

4:12 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Oldham have taken the lead as well!!

Torres should have squared that one

4:13 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Vieera really has fallen since leaving The Arse

Yikes, that was close. Again, square it!!!

4:14 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, both sides riding their luck. Torres and Cruz should've squared them for easy tap ins.

4:15 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

We could use a Brighton win today. Come on you Gulls!

4:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Everything is going wrong for Leeds.
Walsall have taken the lead as well

4:17 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Carlisle are two up

4:17 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bloody hell!

Maicon with a typically Brazilian square ball across his area. I can remember Paulo Rossi capitalizing on one of those in 82. Unfortunately Dirk Kuyt is no Paulo Rossi.

4:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The Seagulls have tied it up.

4:21 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger, bugger, bugger. Cheltenham have scored.

4:26 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Uh oh, Cheltenham have scored in the 38th minute

4:26 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

You're right about Vieira. Arsenal obviously off-loaded him at the right point. He's been absolutely pants today.

4:27 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Nice save from a good flick

4:28 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Liverpool are half way there but it by no means over.

4:32 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The Swans have taken a late first half lead

4:34 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Half-time 0-0. Liverpool in good shape, thanks to Reina fine save. Forty five minutes to go. It won't be pretty but I think that they can just about do it.

4:35 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Very interesting!!

2040: "You think English teams lack home-grown players, Inter have just one Italian in their entire squad tonight - Francesco Toldo - and he's on the bench..."

And we're off

4:47 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Stevie G in the book

4:49 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Patrick V should have done better there.

4:50 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Inter are down to ten men.
No contact but it was high

Doncaster are two up

4:52 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes! Lovely, Burdisso's off - second yellow. I don't quite remember the first. Do you?

4:52 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Dahlgren has buggered off!!

4:53 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

You are there.
I don't remember either

4:53 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

2050: As when he came on in the first leg, Patrick Vieira looks a shadow of the player he was at Arsenal. The midfielder bursts into the box but then loses control.

4:54 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm here, just buggered off during the half. In any case, I reckon Inter are finished now. Will Mourinho take Mancini's job?

4:54 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Orient have tied it up with Swindon

4:55 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Cup Heroes Barnsley have taken a 2-1 lead against the Tractor Boys

Carlisle have had a goal pegged back

Come on Leeds.
Are they pressuring?

4:58 PM
Blogger West Ham Rising said...

C'mon you Hammers! . . . Ooo . . wait . . .we're not playing today, are we?

4:58 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

That was lucky!!

4:59 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Heya, Trev. No, the Hammers defense are taking a day off from letting three in. Sorry, I shouldn't tease - we're losing to bloody Cheltenham.

4:59 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hey Sir Trev.
Good job your lot aren't playing!
You would probably lose your FOURTH straight game FOUR NIL!!!

Orient have taken the lead

5:00 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not THREE Bob, FOUR!!!

5:01 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Have you noticed that the indirect free kick for obstruction has almost entirely dropped out of the referee's repertoire? That's what I'd have given on Saturday in the incident involving Distin and Cristiano Ronaldo - that is, not a penalty - and that's what I'd have given Chivu. What's happened to obstruction?

5:01 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

2055: Burdisso, by the way, had only just returned to Champions League action for Inter after serving a six-game ban for the infamous brawl at Valencia last season.

5:02 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I think he's buggered off before we had a chance to taunt him a second time-uh.

5:02 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Doncaster have been pegged back. It is 2-1
Norwich are losing to Stoke at home

5:02 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I think so too

5:02 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh, yeah, wasn't he the guy who came off the bench and kicked the Valencia trainer in the arse?

5:03 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

We were vicious!! We pounced right away.
Sorry Sir Trev

5:03 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

They're an easy mark with Rio's dopey brother at the back, eh?

5:04 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

You Beauty.
Liverpool have joined the rest of us.

Well done

5:05 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wow, what a goal from Torres. Sheer quality. Best striker in the Premiership, bar none. He took that down and slotted it home as if he were in the backyard having a kickabout not at the San Siro in the final stages of the Champions League.

5:07 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Well, if that is the case with West Ham, why have we lost to them THREE TIMES IN A ROW!!!

5:07 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Sounds like we're laying siege to the Cheltenham goal now. Ten shots to their three. Come on you Whites!

5:08 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Forest have tied it up at Southend.

LEEDS, where is your goal? I need to leave very soon for the college!!

5:08 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

The Hammers are your bogey team, init? Used to be the Saints, now it's West Ham. I blame the grey kit.

5:08 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

OH DEARY ME!!
Cheltenham are two up!!

5:10 PM

Zlatan has been completely anonymous tonight. Wish I could get his money for standing about like a statue for ninety minutes.

5:10 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Best of luck in the last 20 minutes. I have to leave.

I will read your comments when I get home.

Cheers,

Oh deary, deary me. I can't believe I'm watching Liverpool beat Inter at the San Siro to take their place in the final eight of the Champions League and my side's getting slated at home by bloody Cheltenham. How the mighty have fallen.

5:13 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Cheers, Dave. Teach well, eh?

5:13 PM
Blogger West Ham Rising said...

Well done, Pool . . . Sorry I couldn't stay mates . . . just when I'm ready to goof off the phone rings . . . We have the Red Devils number . . .

5:16 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Hurrah, someone called Anthony Elding has pegged one back for Leeds. We're still in this one. Five minutes to go. Dare I say - Leeds Time?

5:36 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Full-time: 0-1 Liverpool. A marvelous night for Merseyside and English football. Inter on the other hand were poor. They were negative in the first leg and desperate tonight. These are the Italian champions? It just goes to show how far Serie A has fallen.

5:37 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Not so marvelous a night for the Leeds boys, 2-1 losers at home to Cheltenham. It puts things in perspective that.
