Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Wenger: Fab is the new skipper

The latest directive out of the Emirates by commissar Wenger is that Spanish schemer Cesc Fabregas has been named the new captain at Arsenal. Add that to William Gallas having been stripped of the captaincy and forced to say "pardon" in order to stay at the club and you've got some fairly dramatic changes in North London.

Has Arsene lost the plot? Discuss....

Arsene is living through some bad decisions. This is not one. Fabregas was the fans choice and if you believe another stirrer at the club, Adebayor, the players choice as well if Gilberto was on his way out.

The Arsenal captaincy since Adams wore the armband has been given away as a reward for bad behavior -- Viera the wantaway, Henry the wantaway, and most recently, Gallas the gobshite.

It's a step in the right direction and one that shows that Wenger might just be hearing some of the criticism. Who knows, maybe he'll stop trying to make Alex Song a whatever the hell he's supposed to be.

If Wenger tries to get through the January transfer window without bringing in a Marcos Senna quality central midfielder to help Fabregas get back his previous form and a Vidic quality central defender, the calls for Wenger to go will be clarion.

I think this is a good move for the Gooners.
This should make Fab want to stay in North London. They need him to stay. I think that Arsene may bugger off to Real soon.

You make an interesting point about Gallas, Gooner. Derek Rae reported on WSD yesterday that Gallas's captaincy was all about trying to keep him at Arsenal.

Here's hoping for a good result for the Arsenal today against Dynamo.
