Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

A Voice and Face From the Past

Sad news from England.

David Vine has passed away of a heart attack. He was the original host of A Question of Sport as well as Match of the Day, Ski Sunday and Snooker.
Here is a nice article about him

Sad news, indeed. I remember him most vividly from "A Question of Sport," but I also think he did the classic Hurricane Higgins vs. Steve Davis snooker final.

Check out this tribute to Viney:

Thanks for posting the tribute, Bob. I remember Viney now. QofS and I watched a week's worth of the World Championship of snooker in 1980 when I was felled by the measles.
