Crunch Time!
It's another critical weekend in the Premiership. It starts in just moments with Liverpool trying to bounce back from their mid-week CL disaster with a win at Anfield against strugglers Blackburn. United have a similar brief later against Sunderland and then we round out the afternoon with Newcastle desperate for points at Stoke.
Join me for the action at the top and bottom of the Premiership!

Blackburn kick off at Anfield with the odd sight of central defender Chris Samba playing up top.
Rafa decides to rest Stevie G.'s toe ahead of the trip to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Hey Bob,
I have the atdhe link working strong. Sky's coverage with Martin and Andy
The minute silence for Hillsborough was impeccable observed.
I have been sick in bed all day yesterday but I am well enough to follow the footer
Don't Leeds play Leicester City on Monday at Noon. Surely there will be a link for that
My predictions for today:
Liverpool 2 Blackburn 0
Chelski 2 Bolton 0
Boro 1 Hull 1
Pompey 1 WBA 0
Sunderland 1 United 3
Spurs 2 West Ham 1
Wigan 1 Arsenal 1
Stoke 1 Newcastle 0
Well, that didn't take long!!!
Great goal!
GOAL! Torres with a superb, instinctual strike there for Liverpool's opener! It was only a half chance really, taken well off the chest and swung in with the right foot over Robbo, who was just slightly off his line.
Liverpool 1-0!
Morning, Dave! Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Maybe a win from the Red Devils will pick up your spirits.
Sky did mention earlier that they'll be doing the Leeds vs. Leicester. It's an early kick-off and I'll be out in San Diego on Monday, so by my calculations, it'll be on at 4:30 a.m. PST!
Of course, Costa scored really early on Wednesday!
I'm on the Atdhe link as well. Nice and clear with Martin and Andy chattering away just as we like it.
What did you make of Blackburn playing Samba as center forward?
Blackurn can't get it out of their own end!
With that goal, Costa are two points up and three goals up. United need to get those goals back!(And the points of course)
As they said, Benni McCarthy won't be pleased
Have you noticed how direct Liverpool have gotten in the past few weeks. Everything is long ball to Torres or Kuyt, sometimes from the goalkeeper, and a quick strike on goal. Very unlike Liverpool.
That goal, for example, was a long hopeful ball from Carra toward Torres.
They have been very impressive. I just hope it stops soon
As James Richardson mentioned this week on the Football Weekly podcast, Sunderland are exactly the kind of team you'd want to play today.
I hope so!
I remember your scoring goals like that, on the turn and kind of looping over the keeper.
Is it possible for Fat Sam and Blackburn to still get relegated? Hope so! I'm really pulling for Shearer and Newcastle today.
Oh, Mascherono should have scored. Well saved by Robbo. Andy wanted Masch to take the dive and collect the pen.
Blackburn have absolutely nothing going forward.
We have Sunderland away and Pompey at home in our next two games.
The Pompey game is our extra game but because of semi finals Costa play Arsenal the same week.
Our game in hand will become Wigan away to be played in May.
Torres should have scored again
I have scored some like that.. thanks mate
My link has frozen
I got atdhe up again but it is Setanta this time
My feed died there. I'm going to try LiveVSS.
Yes, the second link on Atdhe is Setanta. Inferior. I just got Andy and Martin up on LiveVSS if you're interested.
Andy's trying to make out that he scored goals like that one from Torres. I don't remember that. I remember him bombing in from set pieces with his teeth out Joe Jordan style.
Great save by Robbo
Oh, Dirk Kuyt misses a sitter of a header from six yards out. Straight at Robbo and then Benayoun hit it over the bar. Should have been game over.
Cheers mate
I have them both up and running just in case
Aggar's looking a bit rusty today. He picked up a yellow earlier and there he let the ball drop and had to be bailed out by his keeper.
Come on Rovers
What happened to Pepe there?
Any Rec Tiddlywinks for the kids today?
I reckon that's a vain hope today. Blackburn look completely hopeless. Robbo's keeping them in this one.
BUGGER
Two nil
Torres again
I don't have a good feeling about the league!
GOAL! Easy peasy. Lovely ball in from the free kick and Torres just guides it into the net.
2-0!
Actually, it might just be the case that there are no surprises today, with all the big sides playing somewhat inferior opposition and winning. All square at the end of the weekend.
Liverpool in total control.
Can Blackburn get to half time without conceding another? It doesn't look like it right now.
Costa are going to score six today!
Rovers will be still 5 points ahead of Toon
I'd like to see Pompey, Hull and Toon to get wins today
That would almost save Pompey and Hull and doom Boro
Coming up on half-time. Liverpool have taken their foot off the gas a bit but I can't see Blackburn getting back into this one.
Come on Rovers
SCORE!!
Costa won the toss by the way
No goal
If not for West Brom, it could have been a really dire year for the Northeast with all three big clubs going down.
Quite a few games were played on Good Friday and there is full slate of games on Easter Sunday.
When did the Prem stop playing two in three days over Easter?
I know they played on Easter Monday during the Prem years. I think that have the CL during the week may have stopped that
Half time
All Costa
Half-time: Liverpool 2-0 up and in cruise control here. This will put some more pressure on United and Chelsea to top them.
I was thinking that too. Usually there are two league matches over this weekend. The CL is interrupting things.
I know that there hasn't been two matches for a few seasons
Jamie Redknapp and John Barnes are arguing about whether Torres's goal was a "true volley." What do you think?
Jamie Redknapp expects Rafa to pull Torres off to save him for Tuesday rather than leaving him on for his hat-trick. I know which one you want, Dave!
Second half about to get underway
Torres is back out for the second half. And Blackburn are throwing a 17 year old into the mix for his debut.
Blackburn have an early free kick here. It goes straight over everyone from Dunn's kick.
As for Torres, have him stay out for his hat-trick but get hurt in the process
Kuyt had acres of space in the box there and he still couldn't get his shot on target.
You are the Grim Reaper!
The fizz has gone out of this match and the crowd noise has dampened considerably. It almost sounds like a cricket crowd.
Kuyt again finds loads of space and hits a shot woefully over the bar.
Did you know that Joe Royle was the manager of Oldham? I wondered what happened to him
He was their manager in the Prem
At this rate, Stevie G. won't get off the bench. They don't need him.
Yeah, I didn know that. They've really dropped away from contention in recent weeks. No hope of the play-offs at this point.
Good to see Millwall losing yesterday. Peterboro only got a draw yesterday too.
If Leeds win today, they will be seven points behind automatic promotion. Can they do it?
The preview show is on FSC now. They've just shown the tunnel at St. James's Park which has a banner that reads "Howay the Lads" as the players are going out like the sign painted on the wall that reads "This is Anfield."
Is there anything like that at OT?
I don't think so. Our tunnel is wide
Let's have Costa not scoring anymore and United hit Sunderland for SIX!
I don't think so. The only way was to get maximum points and we threw away two during the week. Now we can only get 87 and Peterboro already have 82. They only need two wins from their last four matches to better our best total. I can't see it.
Off goes Torres
Slip in the tunnel
There goes Torres. He's earned his corn today. Next stop Stamford Bridge - they'll need his goals to overturn that shocking defeat on Wednesday.
Samba had a slight chance there. Useless shot.
I'm happy with the 2-0. It'll start me off this weekend with 30 points.
I'm glad you gave us a two goal win too
Robbo saving my thirty points there. Ta, mate!
Of course! I'm banking on it. It is Sunderland after all. They're rubbish!
Any comment on the Walkers Crisps thread I started on Thursday? Which flavor would you vote for?
We always seem to struggle against Sunderland especially at OT
Three nil Costa.. sorry about your 30 points
The Kop is singing "going to win the league"
Kiss of death
Bugger! Aggar kills off my perfect score with a rocket that beats Robbo at the near post. Blackburn defenders egged him on and he took full advantage.
3-0!
I am still sick, so I don't want to think about any food at the moment!!
I hope United do the business today. We are decimated by injuries and suspensions at the back!
Vidic, Rio and Evans all out
Alonso coming off now for Lucas.
Go on - a packet of the Builder's Breakfast would do you wonders.
Four nil
Not good
4-0! N'gog sticks it in from the corner. I knew that that goal was coming as the FSC preview show had just showed the score-line.
Well United
IT IS IN YOUR COURT NOW!
Costa now have a five goal advantage
16 goals in five Prem games
One of them was a one niller
Into stoppage time. In truth, this match was as good as over at half time.
It's all over - 4-0!
Game over
COME ON UNITED... yours too
I'm hoping that as usual this channel will stay on for Soccer Saturday.
Rooney, Tevez and Berba all start
Ronaldo doens't
Rooney, Tev and Berba all to start. No Ronaldo today. Why?
Two big games Monday in League 1
It could all go Leeds' way
I am pleased to see Berba back
Ron has not been too affective as of late even though he has scored
I am not that upset
If he is on the bench that is
He is on the bench
United's team
Foster
Neville
Evans-thought he was hurt
Vidic-thought he was suspeneded
O'Shea
Park
Carrick
Scholes
Rooney
Berba
Tevez
Bench
Kusz
Evra
Ronaldo
Anderson
Giggs
Nani
Macheda
I just checked the setanta link I had for Costa's game is going straight to United
FSC are setting up the Chelsea vs. Bolton match. Sky still on the post-game chat. Bring on the SS!
I've just kissed the badge on my lucky Leeds shirt. We'll need three points today at Elland Road against Stockport. No slip ups, lads!
I have the Veetle link for United
Chelsea rest midfielder Michael Essien against Bolton at the Bridge. John Mikel Obi replaces Essien in the holding role while Ricardo Carvalho is preferred to Alex in the center of defence.
Link is freezing
COME ON
United are in all blue
Still no Beckford back in the line-up. Not good. Dickinson and Becchio up front for the Whites today.
It is back. Lovely and clear
Four nil win here last year
Same again please
Here we go...Soccer Saturday - lovely jubbly!
Chelski about to kick off on FSC.
SS is on Vss!!!
United's link is strugling
Rooney wide on the left
Roon hits one just wide after 15 seconds
Bolton have an early free kick chance at the Bridge...
Cech has to save sharply at his near post. Good start for Bolton.
Phew, the ball went straight across the area from the resulting corner. Cech was nowhere there.
Yeah, that's why I love VSS. I usually stay on it for the duration. They always have the early match and go straight on to SS. I love it!
WHy is Vidic playing?
He got sent off against Costa. Aren't you suspended for three games with a straight red? He was out of the Fulham and Villa games
Boro take the lead
Tuncay has scored for Boro against Hull. That's a key goal in the relegation battle. Not good news for Newcastle. The Magpies have to play Boro at St. James's next weekend. What a battle royale that will be!
Dunno - was his suspension reduced?
Come on United... get an early goal
White Hart Lane has seen the fewest Premiership goals this season - 25! Not good value for money.
Dangerous free kick by Sunderland
Foster spills it but a foul was called
Nervy moment for Ben Foster there. Lucky boy.
WELL DONE LEEDS!!!
Scholes with a pile driver blocked
YESSSSSSS! Jonny Howson scores an early goal for the Whites! We're up to 75 points now, still behind the Dons on goal difference.
Neville in the book for diving for a pen
AWFUL GARY
Hull have tied it up
Hull equalize through Manucho from a Nicky Barmby cross.
1-1 at the Riverside.
We're now eight points up on Tranmere in 7th. Some comfort room for us.
Doncaster have scored at Portman Road in their effort to survive in the Championship. It's looking more and more dicey for Southhampton.
Useless cross by Roon
Malouda's come into some form recently. Nice run there but then he blazed well over. Still 0-0 at the Bridge.
Sunderland almost in
COME ON UNITED!
Haven't heard much from the match with Arsenal at Wigan. Where are you, Gooner? We need a report.
United are just giving Sunderland more confidence!
Norwich need a result at Swansea today. We've still got the Swansea students visiting. Sorry, girls. I'm plumping for the Canaries today.
Ipswich have equalized.
What has happened to Carrick?
He was United's best player earlier. Now he has been hopeless
Off the line from Vidic header
How did we not net the rebound!
Vidic's header cleared off the line!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCHOLES!!!!
Great header!!
SS behind by about a minute
You have to say that Bolton have had the better of the first fifteen minutes at the Bridge.
Wigan have taken the lead against Arsenal. I am surprised about that
Wigan have scored! Mido gets the opener. Le Tiss thinks it's a goalkeeping error by Fabianski. 1-0 Wigan.
I haven't been watching much of it. I have my eyes on the computer more
Well done, Scholesy!
Let's get another!!
Remember, I want a six goal win
You'll need another five goals against Sunderland, right?
We really need to score again sharpish
Sunderland rocking now. You could easily kill them off.
Free kick chance for Sunderland...cleared
I'm not as greedy as you - I'll take the one-nil win against Stockport.
Nice dipping free kick from Lamps well saved by Jaskelainen.
John Terry's down in pain after a corner. Alex up and warming up. JT may have to come off.
Bloody Hell Vidic
What is going on?
Looks as if JT will be able to continue. He's a warrior. But Liverpool will be heartened that he's bothered his back. He's holding his side now.
Remember, JT is suspended for the second leg after his challenge against Pepe
Stelling's having a go at Chris Kamara for predicting goals at Shite Fart Lane. 0-0 there.
Ah yeah, you're right.
Boro retake the lead
Sunderland hit one just wide
COME ON UNITED!
Leicester City are losing at Hereford
Aliadiere has scored a second for Boro. 2-1 Boro in that critical relegation battle.
That's a good sign. I'd love to do over the Foxes on Easter Monday.
Again, United have let Sunderland stay in this!
This has been the story all season
Decent penalty shout there for Cashley.
Pompey have taken the lead
Glad about that
Norwich are behind. They started out fourth from bottom today. They're in real trouble. Let's be havin' ya!
I expected that. The Baggies are going down. No doubt.
I just want Pompey to be safe
Leicester have tied it up
Sunderland are getting plenty of chances
Chelski starting to exert some pressure now. But not too many real chances in this first half.
United are at sixes and sevens at the back!!
Free kick chance for Sund
Matty Oakley equalizes for Leicester. I've noticed that the Foxes tend to like to come back from behind.
Norwich have equalized as well.
Row zed please
Easily wide
Decent strike from Mikel. Lots of long shots raining in on Jaskelainen now.
GOAL! Ballack finally sticks the knife in. Nice move from the Blues down the right, the ball came in from Bosingwa and Ballack finished into the top of the net.
1-0 Chelski!
Chelski take the lead
Sunderland hit the post
UNITED ARE PATHETIC RIGHT NOW
Useless cross by Nev
What has happened to my beloved
COME ON UNITED!!!!!!!
Johan Djourou has been stretchered off at Wigan with a knee injury. More injury troubles for Arsene.
United don't look like they can score anymore
You're 1-0 up! Stop your bellyaching. You'll take one-nillers from here to May, won't you?
Yes but that is not the United way
We're totally dominating Stockport, seven shots to two. Still 1-0 at Elland Road.
It's Easter weekend and you've won three trophies already and still got a shot at winning the Championship, FA Cup, and Champions League. Greedy bugger.
Yes I am
Truthfully, it is the Prem that I want
Nice hit by Park... just over
Half time
One up but still not happy
Into stoppage time at the Bridge and Davies just flashed a shot past Cech's post. Close call there.
Half time at the Bridge.
LUFC 1-0 up at halftime at the Elland. More of the same in the second half, lads. I'm not greedy.
Why are Wigan and Arsenal still playing
Right, here's how we stand. At the top Manchester United lead Sunderland 1-0 despite looking anything but impressive. Third-paced Chelsea also lead 1-0 against Bolton while fourth-placed Arsenal trail 1-0 at Wigan. At the bottom Portsmouth have a priceless 1-0 lead against West Brom and Middlesbrough are 2-1 up against Hull. It's goalless between Spurs and West Ham at White Hart Lane.
I am looking at the upcoming schedule and Costa are playing before United every time!!
Costa play Arsenal on 4/21
United play Pompey on 4/22
4/25
Costa play Hull at 3 o'clock
United play Spurs at 5:30
5/3(Sunday)
Costa play the Toon at 1:30
United play Boro at 4
Costa play West Ham on 5/9
United play Citeh on 5/10
United have their extra game on 5/13
against Wigan
Finally United play first on the weekend of 5/16
United play the Arse early Sat and Costa play West Brom on Sunday
Of course, they play the same time on the last day
United at Hull
Costa host Spurs
We're off again at the SoL
The teams are back out at the Bridge and ready to kick off. Bolton a bit late jogging back out.
Lou Mac dissin Berba
Nice shot by Rooney, just wide.
Just wide by Roon
Pompey have been pegged back by West Brom!
West Brom have tied it up at Fratton Park
Bugger
GOAL! Drogs adds a second at the Bridge. Cross came over and Drogs rocketed his shot into the top of the net.
Cheslea are two up
I didn't see it because I have lost the control of the TV
Chelski are pressing for a third goal. CIA will be loving this.
Shocking behavior from the Nocito clan.
It is Jonathan!
He is also wearing his Costa shirt as well
