Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Blimey - the Galaxy have taken the lead inside the first five minutes. I missed the goal while I was posting the thread. More to come!
That was a corker. Eskandarian with blistering volley for that opener.
1-0!
Half an hour in and I'm not sure that Becks has touched the ball. In fact, I'm not even sure that he's on the pitch. Is it possible that he didn't make the starting XI? If so, Bruce Arena's got bigger stones than I'd thought.
Wallop! Landycakes with LA's second goal. Beckham's teammates are certainly laying down a marker here tonight in Giants Stadium. "We don't need you, mate" seems to be the message to Goldenballs.
Donovan with another steaming run from midfield. The boy's on fire tonight. Wow!
Red Bulls fans don't look best pleased. No, there is Beckham. So, he is on. But the first glimpse of him is taking a free kick for the Galaxy out wide right. Comes to nothing.
Edson Buddle with a pot-shot from about forty-five yards out. A bit ambitious.
Great save from Ricketts. I haven't thought much of him in other matches I've seen but that was terrific saving from Angel.
3-0! What a rout! Bloody Norah!
Sixty minutes in and LA seemed to have settled on the 3-0 win. And why not. Becks coming off to a mixed reception.
Juan Pablo Angel pulls back a consolation goal for the Red Bulls on 80 minutes.
Full-time: 1-3 Galaxy. Very, very interesting.
Next up - Beckham's old boys at Milan on the weekend.
Sorry mate, I got back late from a hotel function.
Your commentary is interesting about how uninvolved Becks was. The Post and an MLS blog I read suggests that Becks shifts the paradigm for LA this season.
The little I saw, it looked like the regulars were especially up for it last night and were frantic to avoid another Becks coronation. If they play like that without enormous influence from Beckham, then his entry is a real season boost for them. I think there's an open question here, because flaying the Mutts is not a good indication of how your season is going to go. They're a laughing stock.
I agree that the Galaxy are still an open question. Grant Wahl was on WSD yesterday saying that Becks will almost certainly return to Milan at the end of the MLS season as he's only here under the duress of his contract.
They'll do well to sneak into the playoffs to be fair. But it is an advantage to have his presence lighting a fire under Landycakes, Kova and co.
That Wahl bloke was also on ESPN's PTI saying the same thing; Becks would never have shown up again for the Galaxy except that the MLS has made him fulfill the contractual obligation.
I think this MLS thing has the potential to scupper the comeback that Becks might imagine that he can make to get him to S. Africa next summer. He's got to get away from America quickly and he's got the money to make it happen, buying out the remainder of his contract. There's nothing for him here any more, and those spray painted bed-sheets emphasizing his unpopularity here that keep popping up in games he's playing are going to hurt him.
