Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Euros Begin

I want to apologize for this picture but it is just the way I feel about his squad! Fourteen of these were part of the 23 in South Africa! If Lampard and Terry were fit, I am sure it would be up to 16!
Scott Carson! Lescott! SWP!

Your thoughts?

Here is the squad in full

Carson, Foster, Hart, Cahill, A Cole, Dawson, Gibbs, Jagielka, G Johnson, Lescott, Upson, Barry, Carrick, Gerrard, Johnson, Milner, Walcott, Wright-Phillips, Young, Bent, C Cole, Crouch, Defoe, Rooney.

Well, that's put me on my Sunday dinner - and I'm very pro-Speedo, btw.

It's the squad that's hard to digest. Kieran Gibbs is on the verge of going out on loan to the hinterlands as he's surplus to requirements at the Emirates...but he's in the England squad?

Carrick can't get into the United side...but he's in the squad?

Jagielka? Upson? Cahill? (I assume that's Gary and not Tim, unfortunately). Bloody Norah - much of our defensive squad is made of players that are on the wrong end of a regular tonking in the Prem!

Well, I'll make a silk purse out of a gangrenous sow's ear here and suggest this starting XI and hope that we don't need any subs:

1. Hart (anyone else is madness!)
2. Johnson
3. A. Cole
4. Dawson
5. Lescott
6. Barry
7. Milner
8. Walcott
9. Crouch
10. Defoe
11. Gerrard

Not. Happy.

Nope, a pretty retrograde list of players and a really shocking set of photos. Not good.

I agree. England's performance in the World Cup was mediocre to say the least.I would have thought that Cap would have chosen some promising young players who would help them prepare for the next World Cup. Their qualifying group is ridiculously easy unless you consider the Swiss to be a world class team. According to soccernet, Capello is leaving the door open for Beckham to return to the national team providing he returns to full fitness. Is he crazy? He wanted to name David Stockdale to the full squad as well. That never happened. Thanks for the photos. I'm sure the England players will get a good laugh. They will love the speedo.
