Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Soccernet says that Masherano is on strike!
Kuyt is on the field. There is talk of him going to Italy
Milner is starting but Max Bretos feels it is a defensive line up
Torres has a partner up front with Ngog

We're off

I put three more guesses on the other post

Liverpool get us started.

I don't know who I want to lose or win!
I would like both of them to lose... is that possible?

3:03 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Any predictions on this one, mate?

3:04 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Torres had a chance there... he was too slow. He maybe should have passed it one more time

3:05 PM

Skrtel into the book early doors.

I suppose it depends on who you think is the more realistic threat to United. Any thoughts on that?

3:06 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Skrtel in the book. They mentioned it yesterday about bookings aren't given too early and the players know it. This time it does go in the book

Don't like the sound that ESPN is giving us

Look at Hart's socks!! Worse than Citeh's away socks!

3:07 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I guess Citeh are but if Liverpool get a good start they could begin to roll like they did a couple of seasons back

Torres is off the pace again

Nice hit by Johnson

3:10 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Torres looks clueless!

3:13 PM

I disagree with the thought that referees should wait to hand out cards. If the tackle is a bad one, get the yellow out early to establish a pattern.

Why should a player go off for bad tackles in the 24th and 48th minute but not for the same tackles in the 2nd and 48th minute?

Torres and Roon are clearly following the same training regime. It's so strange that they both look as if they've never played the game before.

3:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

One nil!!

Nice move finished by Barry

3:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Milner was well on side!!

Villa could have used both of those two yesterday!

3:14 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

GOAL! Gareth Barry steers home Citeh's first after some sterling work on the right from Johnson. Barry only had to pass into the net.

1-0!

3:15 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree with you about the yellows

3:15 PM

Liverpool down to 17th

SAF in the crowd

3:16 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree with Matt. Barry is one of the most overrated players in the Prem. I don't know why he is an England certainty.

3:18 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Agger should have just let that go

3:20 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Useless shot by Mr. Overrated!

ESPN... fix your sound!

Who would you have in that holding slot for England if not Barry? The thing I like about him is that he's not just a destroyer; he actually can play a ball up to the front men or spread it wide and - as we just saw - can occasionally score a goal.

3:24 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Yes - Liverpool are a point off the bottom three clubs. Citeh are up to 8th.

3:25 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I don't really know who could play there. In a lot games, it is not needed. Will we need a holding middy against Wales?
Torres and Lamps could both play in the middle

3:27 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Gerrard and Lamps!!!

3:29 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Well - I definitely agree with you there. I hate the trend toward just assuming that one holding mid is necessary for any match. And then in the latter stages of the WC, some sides like Holland were playing two or three!

With some of the duff sides in the Euro 2012 group coming up, I would love to see Fabio forego the use of Barry altogether and use two wide men instead.

3:31 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Toure looks knackered already!

3:32 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I wonder why?

3:33 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

do you agree?

3:34 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I do but I don't quite get it. Of course Citeh and Toure played on Thursday in the Europa, but big deal. Tevez always looks fresh.

3:38 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Liverpool are going to be mid-table if they have to rely on goals from the likes of Ngog and Kuyt. That is, unless Torres re-discovers how to play the game. He's looked terrible tonight.

3:39 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

The crowd is very quiet! You could hear Hart yelling and then sadly I heard a vuva!!!

3:40 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Ouch - I really hope that other fans tell that vuvu fan to stick it up his arse. I would really hate to see that trend take hold in the Prem.

3:41 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I thought Tevez would do better there

3:41 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Citeh seem happy to dink it about now until the half. Liverpool are going to have to chase this one. I don't fancy them getting back into it.

I'm off to set up my class.

3:43 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Liverpool have done NOWT going forward!

Relegation material!

3:45 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

I'm back after having set up my class. It's always exciting on the first day of class.

Citeh still really dominating. I know you're having a laugh about Liverpool being relegation fodder. I don't see that but if they're at all in the bottom half, Roy will not be long for the chop.

4:12 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

GOAL! Carlito adds Citeh's second in the 52nd minute!

Liverpool are really up against it. Pool were chasing the game and Citeh predictably launched a quick counter and Tevez finished with aplomb.

4:15 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Liverpool try and hit back immediately and there is pressure at the other end...Gerrard has a shot which is deflected over the bar.

4:16 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Stevie G. seems to be the only player who seems bothered at all by this scoreline. With Masch wanting off, the Pool dressing room is in real disarray.

4:16 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Citeh will keep trying to hit the Reds on the break now. The latest sees Yaya feeding Johnson. Reina claims.

4:17 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sorry, I had to go help my neighbor. He is coming back.

4:23 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I did see Citeh's second.

4:23 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I am back just for the final whistle
A three nil win for Citeh
Liverpool didn't look dangerous at all!

4:59 PM
Blogger The Blue Devil said...

Wow - that is a hammering and a half. Roy's Pool not off to an impressive start. Citeh slide into fourth on the basis of that match. Liverpool are inches away from the dropzone.
