Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Who's Staying and Who's Going?

The Premiership transfer window ends this evening at 6 pm GMT (1 pm EST). As is tradition, there should be a flurry of last minute activity as clubs scramble to offload or add to their squads. This one should be particularly interesting as the moneybags clubs adjust to the new Premiership rules in terms of squad size and make-up. Stay tuned for updates throughout the day.

That doesn't make me happy.
He could be useful for us

Well, maybe he can take some points off our rivals during the season

Cleverboy is a loss to United. He could really play a part in keeping Wigan up. Sorry to hear that... not really.

I did just notice that weird schedule for the internationals. I'm not pleased. I was looking forward to the usual Saturday morning routine of following the footer with a cuppa and a bagel by my side. Ah well, I should be able to steal a few minutes on Friday to follow it...and Tuesday is actually a brilliant day for me - much better than the traditional Wednesday. That works.

In the end, it seems like much ado about nothing today. As far as I can tell, there was no late business involving any of the players who seemed destined to move. That is

* Ryan Babbel is still at Liverpool
* Robbie Keane is still at Spurs
* Mark Schwarzer is still at Fulham
* Shay Given is still at Citeh

The big clubs didn't go spending crazy today. Indeed, I can't see that Arsenal, United or Chelski brought any new players in.

Very disappointed. I don't know who I'm less happy with, Wenger or that bag of pus, Mark Hughes. Probably Wenger, because the instant that Hughes was made Fulham's manager, Wenger should have known that he couldn't do business with slime like him, he'd just lead us along until the last hours and refuse to sell Shwartzer. But we were in for Steklenberg too. Less likely because he would have cost, I know, but we let Ajax cup-tie him so that he'd be no use in our CL campaign.

So, no trophy this season either. Is is any wonder that Cesc is tired of this s**t? A decent keeper two years ago and we could have had a happy Fabregas until his current contract runs out and some silverware to send him off with.

Thank you for the tip about the Euro qualifiers, UWS. I wonder why the qualifiers are on Friday instead of Saturday.Does anyone have an idea? I was disappointed to hear that Cleverly joined Wigan on a season long loan as he would have provided some depth to the squad. The only good thing to come out of this is that he will gain valuable premier league experience. He may be the difference between Wigan surviving and being relegated. This may pay off for us in future seasons.I agree with Gooner regarding the goalkeeping situation at the Emirates.I thought Wenger would have signed Schwarzer or Given. Will he try again in January? Will either keeper break into the starting lineup this season?I guess Cesc did not join Barcelona. That should happen once his contract expires.

I think the Friday kick off is a good idea. It gives the players a good rest after their club games. It also gives the opportunity to play on Tuesday which helps them the clubs for the following weekend.

Did you see that the FA Cup Final is on May 14. The League season doesn't end until May 22!!!! They have to do this because of the Champions League Final being at Wembley on May 28th. It was just decided today that the FA Cup Final will keep its' traditional 3 o'clock start. The full slate of league games will be played at 12:30 or 5:30.
I don't like it!!!
