Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Premiership Transfer Watch

With only a week to go until the beginning of the domestic footer season, it's time to cast a close eye at the moves that are coming thick and fast these days. Football 365 has a brilliant page that updates the moves each day as well as (gasp!) a live blog of the biz. Here are the big moves (£10 million or more) of the summer so far:

* Gervinho to Arsenal - £10.6 million
* Jordan Henderson to Liverpool - £16 million
* Stuart Downing to Liverpool - £20 million
* Sergio Aguero to Man Citeh - £35 million
* Ashley Young to ManYoo - £16 million
* David DeGea to ManYoo - £17 million
* Phil Jones to ManYoo - £16.5 million

Who's got the best value for money, then? Your thoughts?

I'll kick this one off, then, by sticking my neck out and saying that I think Arsenal have got the best deal for money with the Gervinho move. If he's anything like as good as he looked in the World Cup or last Saturday, he'll be that 20+ goal a season "fox in the box" that Wenger has been searching for since TH-14 left North London.

Worst deals? Definitely United, for my money. They've spent the better part of £50 million on three ordinary players who don't do much more than strengthen the squad. None would get into my starting XI at Old Trafford.

I would say the best value is Brad Freidel moving from Villa to Spurs for FREE. As they say, free is good. I think he is good enough to start for Spurs and even if they only get two seasons out of him, it is a fantastic deal. The worst is Jordan Henderson from Sunderland to Scousesox for 16 million Pounds. He is not much better than average and I see him more as cover than a full time starter. I do see what you are seeing about Man Yoo's signings, but I think they will contribute. I have decided that Jordan Henderson is the worst of the lot.

I don't think United's signings are that bad. One should be a keeper for years. One is a starting center back for the England U21s(we now have both) and Ashley Young could be on of England's bright stars in the Euros
