Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Morning, UWS - thanks for posting the thread. The "undercard fixture" between Millwall and Blackburn has just started on FSC. Looks to be a bit of a kick-fest.
Oh - Jordan Rhodes was nearly in on goal there. Rip roaring Cup tie tempo so far in this one.
Poor free kick there straight at the first man in the wall - club fine!
Hello Bob. I posted the thread, but am having trouble posting pictures for some reason.
Gooner's favorite ex-Spurs player David Bentley on show today.
Gooner's favorite ex-Spurs player David Bentley on show today.
Would that make him Gooner's favorite ex Arsenal player?
I was wondering if you could post a picture on the thread. for some reason, I am having technical difficulties.
I suppose so - you know how he feels about those rare few players who've made the trek across North London.
No problem - I'll do it right now.
I think I do. The same way I feel about Tev. Cheers mate.
It's fifteenth vs sixteenth in all Championship match.
CLASSIC!
New Rovers manager, Michael Appleton, said that Danny Murphy and his fellow vets do not feature in the clubs plans.
It's been all route one . I expected a more intimidating atmosphere in the East End of London.
That actually makes sense to me. I expected Rovers to bounce right back with all of the Premiership experience that they had around the club, but it's clear that there are a lot of prima donnas on big wages not getting the job done.
Morning boys
I don't think the UK changed their clocks, correct?
Things will start an hour later until they do
I've added a nice image to your thread. Hope you like it.
Now that I type , the decibel level increases.
That's right, UWS - morning. So - this one is scheduled for 2pm GMT.
Good morning UWS. You are correct. They go to Daylight Savings in three weeks.
I really hate those sustained song/chants with a monotonous tone. It gets on my tits within a minute or so. I'm glad that they cut that out.
I like the image..Thanks Bob. I agree about the prima donnas. Rovers should be in a promotion spot.
That'll give us a wee bit of extra kip for the next three weeks.
Dann and Hulse exchanging a few pleasantries after Hulse had thrown an elbow.
That is correct and I sure could use it. I am glad the time change is the week I'm off because it gives me a week to adjust to it.
I noticed Dann had a cut. Martin Atkinson should have taken some sort of action.
Hulse was part of the parade of players that Kevin Blackwell took out of Leeds to Not a Big Club when he jumped ship to Sheffield. Sacrilege!
I was wondering what you were talking about MUR about not putting a picture with the thread
Nice picture BD
No one else has commented to the MLS thread.
I thought you were going to add something commish?
I believe Rovers manager, Michael Appleton ,was at Pompey earlier this season. Is that correct?
Yes he was. Stayed at Fratton Park for about 20 minutes
I am going to add an MLS comment today. I had a full day yesterday and went to bed early again. I didn't post a picture because I was having computer problems. Thanks for helping out, Bob.
It the QUARTER FINAL OF THE FA CUP... look at the empty seats!!!
I HATE IT!
Don't blame the media
Don't blame the teams not caring
WHERE ARE THE FANS!!
90 minutes away from Wembley
Millwall starting to take control as Trotter curled an effort just wide. The first real chance of the match. Now Leon Best wins a free kick for Rovers
Gooner's favorite player shoots it into the wall.A definite prima donna.
They mentioned earlier that this is Appleton's third club this season - Blackpool and then Pompey and now Rovers. Cor!
Sorry about that, UWS. I don't blame you if you are rooting for Millwall today
Martin Atkinson has his hands full today keeping this one under control. It's been scrappy from the off and I don't think we've had a legitimate chance or shot on goal in 26 minutes.
He has enough clubs to be on the golf tour this season!
One of the Olsson twins booked for intentional hand ball. Martin Atkinson, a BPL ref, needs to do a better job of controlling the match. Now Ryan Lowe has been booked for a foul as Millwall win the first corner of the match
I don't care who wins this match. i guess Rovers so it will be an all Lancashire semi
Rovers keeper, Keen, was definitely fouled by N'Guessan., and the goal was correctly disallowed.
There is a TROTTER in the Millwall side!!!
Del Boy and Rodney Trotter were Millwall fans!!!!
Only Fools and Horses rules!
Me too, UWS. I noticed some empty seats behind the Rovers goal, but otherwise all seats are filled. It sounds like Rovers did not bring their full allotment of fans , but Millwall did
Nice one, UWs. He has had the only chance of the match when he curled an effort just wide a few minutes ago.
"Not one for the purists..."
Del Boy could hardly do worse than this.
What does the Edinburgh Derby have in common with Charlie Manson?
Headlines from an article from the Daily Mail
Zaha gives Leeds fans the middle finger after abuse over transfer to Manchester United
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2290864/Wilfried-Zaha-swears-Leeds-fans-Manchester-United-abuse.html
The United fans on LOB aren't bitter about the Whites
I agree, Bob.Not the best of matches.
Even the kiddies are finding it hard to stay awake.
I think tarp gets put on seats all over the place
Taylor crosses straight to Keen.A poor match, but Millwall have made more of an effort to attack/
You have to give Leeds fans points for topical humor, eh?
Dunno about the derby!
Henley is injured for Rovers with a hammy problem and will be replaced by Bradley Orr.
Poor by Zaha. He needs to grow up. Fergie and Giggs will not be pleased.I think I remembered a tarp when Leeds played Spurs.
Milllwall go oh-so-ever close... inside of the post
Worst match of the season?
The Premiership clash between Newcastle and Stoke will start up at the top of the hour.
SCOTTISH LATEST
It's finished goalless at the Edinburgh derby, but we have another 'goalline technology' row as Hibs striker Leigh Griffiths saw a free kick hit the crossbar and come down "at least two feet" over the line. One to watch..
half time
0-0
nuff said
Looks like the Semi Final draw is at 2:30
There is a link for it on FR
Who let John Shaft into Old Trafford this afternoon?
Gus Johnson with a hat straight out of a 1970s Blaxploitation movie. Superfly!
Back on at the New Den for some more Championship level pushing and shoving.
Surprise, surprise - we've got another head injury. Neil Warnock would call this match "committed." Bradley Orr coming off to be replaced by David Dunn.
Seems as if you Premiership lots have abandoned this blood and thunder Championship match. A little squeamish, are you? Had to whip out the smelling salts and walk the doggy at half time?
Will this one go to a replay or will someone on either side put us all out of our misery and stick one in off the bum or drill one into their net?
Still 0-0 in the Newcastle v. Stoke match at SJP - feeling goal starved at the moment. If there were no goals on a Sunday, would Sky have to change the name of their program?
I am just about to get my haircut...I'll be watching the game as I do
MG Pedersen rockets one into the East London streets there. A shocking effort.
I thought that you might be throwing up. I know you're not used to this level of "commitment" in a football match, as you're a Premiership softie.
Oh - Danny Shittu hits a rocket that the keeper has to tip over. Best moment of the match by far.
Tell Kathy to give you "The Dahlgren" cut.
I am back just in time as Danny Shittu of all people nearly gave Millwall the lead. A superb long range effort dipping under the bar and Kean tipped it over.
Oh - Hulse misses an absolute sitter. Two yards out, just has to tap it in. Pops it over the top. "Oh my goodness!"
Surprise surprise . Rob Hulse misses a sitter off a superb cross from Taylor after a superb cross field ball. Your thoughts?
I'd have bet two Bob on that goin' in.
My apologies for the sudden departure. I received a text that Jacquelyn had Bat Mitzvah, then had to come back and take Melanie to the synagogue.
Toon vs Potters not on the telly. I will need a link for that.
You don't need a link - no goals going in at the SJP either. A "No Goals on Sunday" policy going on today.
Hulse straight on Kean off a cross from Keogh, who should have been booked for verbally abusing the linesman
Andy Keogh, another one with a Leeds connection.
It seems that way, but there should have been one North of the border from what I read,
Yeah - looks like another argument in favor of goal-line technology.
Hulse heads wide. After watching him the past few minutes, I would think you would be glad not to have him at ER
Just to let you know that your new signing , Steve Morison is a former Millwall player
Lame free kick from MGP is easily headed out.
The answer to my riddle what does the Edinburgh Derby have in common with Charlie Manson? Lots of helter skelter
Yeah - I knew that. But I've got hope that we can school Morison in the ways of Don Revie. He could well be an Elland Road legend for the future.
No Dahlgren cut... sorry!
I am not a snob to the Prem... I said that on my comment in the other thread... give me the English game
Off to shower and shave
A chance for the Toon as nice cross from Tiote was misjudged by Cisse and Begovic, but the offside flag was up.
Indeed. Boom boom, MUR.
It's a morning of primping for UWS. Have you got a hot date tonight, mate?
Hope the haircut went well. See you in a tcik
I will be getting a haircut during Spring Break.
Gale force winds in East London as the ball does not stay in the arc. MGP finally takes the corner and Shittu kadoomphs.
Jordan Rhodes has a shot deflected for a corner.
Had a haircut in the shower yesterday morning - no muss, no fuss.
Oh - Kean off the angle now!
Now more argybargy between Dann and Shittu.
Josh King , from the MUFC Academy heads off the post after head tennis from the corner by MGP
Nearing half-time at the SJP - no goals, needless to say.
I believe Millwall deserve to win this match, but Josh King came closest to scoring with that header for Rovers
Very close to a handball by MG Pedersen. Risky in the penalty area.
Yeah - but Hulse certainly should have scored from that pass by Keogh.
Back and clean
BREAKING TEAM NEWS - Man Utd v Chelsea (1630 GMT)
Wayne Rooney starts for Manchester United.
1543:
Millwall 0-0 Blackburn
Statisticians Opta: "0 - On no previous occasion this season have Blackburn Rovers failed to register a shot on target in a single match. Blank?"
He should have scored several times. Dr. Who in attendance at the New Den. Why not. Janet Jackson was at Loftus Road yesterday. Nuno Gomes on for Josh King. One less for the MUFC Academy Factor.
Apparently, that they hit the post? Not on target then
BREAKING TEAM NEWS - Man Utd v Chelsea (1630 GMT)
There's no John Terry or Fernando Torres in the Chelsea line-up as Demba Ba starts up front. Wayne Rooney partners Javier Hernandez in attack, as Robin van Persie is left on the bench.
I have my school laptop so I will have LOB and the BBC on the laptop, Liverpool Spurs(full screen) on the desktop and United on the telly!!
Kenny is wearing a Jacket
Correct, UWS. Welcome back. Glad you had a successful haircut. Good to see Roon starting . Hope he has a good match. Not pleased to see RVP on the bench.
BOOM BOOM, UWS. Also Josh King , the former MUFC trainee, was the one that hit the post.
Three minutes of stoppage time. I wouldn't mine getting one of these teams in the semis.
1549:
GET INVOLVED
Sam_Burrell: "Robin van Persie on the bench today, Man United must be selling him in the summer then..."
Andy Keogh booked. About bloody time.
Not quite, Sam, but point taken
0-0 at halftime at the SJP. Not sure that either Newcastle or Stoke have much to play for at this stage. It's 10th v. 14th.
Keogh should have been booked about six times today.
Just too high for Jordan Rhodes and that could have been a late winner.
Agreed, BD and sent off about five times.
It's all over
Off to Lancashire for the replay... an omen?
Phew - that's it. 0-0. "Not a classic." Will not be watching the replay at Ewood.
Off for a reviving shower before the biggie.
it finishes 0-0 with at least 90 more minutes of this nonsense. I will not watch the replay
Liverpool vs Spurs about to kick off on FSC+
I am going to find a link
I am all set. Laptop set up
Great Sky link from Anfield with Martin Tyler and Alan Smith
Away we go... novel idea.. both teams wearing their normal colors!
The're off from Anfield.
A shame they didn't think about that 100 years ago.
I know there is an anti-Spurs sentiment on LOB but I sort of like them. I absolutely want them to finish above Chelsea
The second half is underway from SJP
I'll take a hat-trick or brace from Wazza today
I would be okay with that.
Me too. Wouldn't mind a few from Chicha too.
Useless effort from Cabaye.
I agree with what Warren just said about Rooney
Alan Pardew got an eight year contract. Ridiculous. He looks rather grizzly today
I am watching Liverpool vs Spurs on FSC+. I will switch over just before kickoff at OT. No PIP today
too hard of a touch by Sturridge.. should have rounded the keeper and tap it in
A poor Spurs back pass, but Sturridge ran it to the corner flag. Spurs got away with one.
Cissoko was through on goal, but Begovic rushed out to force a poor effort. Toon fans wanted a pen, but it wasn't
6 Nations update
England beating Italy 15-3 in the second half... a win would mean they are one win away from the Grand Slam... Visit Wales on the last day
Cricket update
England and New Zealand drew the first test after England were hopeless in the first innings
Back to the footer
I've been looking for a goal today, but I guess FIFA is going to ban them!
I heard that Wales defeated Scotland , so I guess that final England vs Wales match is for the Grand Slam.
Sure looks like
As Bob said earlier, the show after the match at OT should be called NO GOALS ON SUNDAY
Free kick chance for Bale in front of the Kop
Agger fouls Dembele just outside the box.
Jones pushes away the Bale free kick. Lots of pace and swerve on that
He stands just like Ronaldo... stop copying!
Serving shot... saved.. just
Italy score a try... 15-11
A wasted Spurs corner missed by EVERYONE!
Accurately stated by Bob.
Jonas has a shot deflected for a corner.
The Potters clear as they were on to the short corner.
When did Italy become decent at Rugby. Aren't they usually the perennial door mats of the Six Nations Tournament.?
I last saw a goal in Manchester by the home team as they easily won. I hope to say the same today.
No yellow cards in the match at SJP. An easy match for Andre Marriner.
Curled over by Coutinho after a long Liverpool possession.
ONE NIL POOL
NO points guessing who scored!
GOAL!!!! 1--0 LIVERPOOL AND SUAREZ SCORES.
Glad we don't play Pool again this season
I forgot... OUR FIRST GOAL OF THE DAY!
Finally a goal. It allstarted at the back as Pool won the ball off a thrwo from Assiou-Ekotu.Enrique passed to Coutinho who put Suarez through and he easily beat Lloris at the near post.
Stoke have a penalty at SJP as Tiote fouled Jon Walters in the box.
GOAL !!!! WALTERS WHO MISSED FROM THE SPOT TWICE EARLIER THIS SEASON EASILY BEAT YOUNG ELLIOTT AS HE PUT IT IN THE CORNER SENDING THE KEEPER THE WRONG WAY.
Walters scores for Stoke
So Stoke have a shock lead at SJP.
Clumsy foul by Tiote . Surprise Surprise!
Goals, I tell you. There have been goals!
That's Suarez's 22nd. RVP needs to catch up soon.
Nearly 1-1 as Cisse appeared to be fouled in the box, but given in the D.it started with a poor back pass from Glenn Whelan. Now a fight between Steven Taylor and Begovic.
NANI WILL SCORE! Mark my words - Nostrabobus has spoken. He will be avenged.
The free kick is an inch outside the box. No cards given.
SHUT IT.. I REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME YOU SAID THAT!!!
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS CABAYE CURLS IN A SUPERB FREE KICK AS IT CAME OFF THE BAR. IMPRESSIVE AS A FREE KICK IS RARELY SCORED FROM INCHES OUTSIDE THE BOX.
tIOTE AND Santon off. Not sure who came on.
The Toon tie it up
Cabaye
Away we go at OT
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
Don't think anyone has posted team news, so here it is:
United - Twilight, Rafa, Rio, Evans, Evra, My Boy Nani, Carrick, Cleverboy, Kagawa, Roon, Chicha.
Subs - Amos, RVP, Valencia, Anderson, Vidic, Yashley, Welbeck.
Chelski - Cech, Azpiwhatever, Sideshow, Cahill, Cashley, Ramires, Lamps, Mata, Oscar, Moses, Ba.
Subs - Turnbull, Ivanovic, JT, Bertrand, Mikel, Hazard, Torres.
They're off from OT!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
Blues fans giving OT a bit of the "Champions of Europe" balls from the off.
And Ba has an early chance!
Ba with a shot... Gus goes crazy... well wide
Ba shoots wide off the long goal kick from Cech
I sure hope Nani scores.. I know the suspension won't be until September .
United attacking the SE in the first half
Walters wins a corner off of Taylor.
Must have lost the toss.
Now Shawcross concedes a corner,
Come on United... get going
GOAL! What a goal it is too. Chicha with a beaut of a header!
1-0!
YES!!!!!!!!!
HERNANDEZ!!
GREAT HEADER...GREAT PASS
GOAL !!!! 1-0 UNITED AS CHICHA HEADS IN AS CECH WAS WELL OUT OF POSITION.
Fabulous ball in from Michael Carrick and Chicha knew exactly where Cech and the goal were. Fantastic!
Didn't know if it was going in at first
Cech in no man's land on that header. Came for it but never got near the pass.
Superb assist from Carrick off a superb United possession.
I knew it was going in from the moment it left his head.
At first I thought it was Nani with the goal... Nostrabobus is still not right
Come on United.. score three before half
First header of the day. Four goals in the past few minutes after waiting a couple of hours for one.
I stated that I had hoped for a few from Chicha. A good start.
