A New Era Begins...
These are exciting times at Elland Road this morning, as Brian McDermott leads out his new side for the first time as Leeds manager. "Win one for Baldy" has to be the motto. That one win - against Not a Big Club - this morning would virtually secure another season in the Championship for McDermott to work his magic on the club. Join me for this one and the other matches today.

No coverage of the big match this morning, sadly, so I'll be following on LUFC.com.
Here's the team news:
United: Kenny, Byram, Pearce, Warnock (c), Drury, Norris, Green, Austin, Varney, McCormack, Morison. Subs: Ashdown, White, Tonge, Diouf, Poleon, Somma, Hall.
Sheff Weds: Kirkland, Buxton, Gardner, Llera, R Johnson, Prutton, Helan, Coke, Holden, Lita, J Johnson. Subs: Taylor, Maguire, Mattock, McCabe, Lee, Howard, Bywater.
Referee: N Swarbrick.
From LUFC.com: "Brian McDermott took his place in the Elland Road dug-out for the first time, less than 48 hours after being confirmed as the club;s new manager.
His first starting line-up saw Stephen Warnock, playing in a central defensive role in place of the injured Lee Peltier, named captain of the side."
Good morning Bob. I will be cheering for the Whites as either you or your twin makes his managerial debut for Leeds.
BUGGER! I don't see a link for this match.
Morning, MUR - sadly no link for the big one this morning.
They're talking about the match now on SS.
And we're underway at Elland Road. Come on, you Whites!
Thanks Bob.I will go to SS.
Wolves vs Huddersfield is a vital match from a Leeds point of view.
Luke Varney has an early pop from distance - wide of the post.
Falkirk take a shock vs Hibs in the Scottish Cup semis.
Falkirk have taken the lead against Hibs at Hampden in the Scottish Cup Final.
Are you following the text links?
Pretty scrappy opening to the match, according to the LUFC.com reports. No real chances in the first ten minutes.
Yeah - I am; on the LUFC.com site.
Luke Varney tries a "hand of God" move. Lucky to escape a yellow.
First real opening after 10 minutes; Steve Morison involved from close range as the visitors hack the ball clear.
I am on the LUFC site, but can't find text updates of the match. Which link did you go to?
Sounds like we're starting to exert some pressure. Adam Drury crossing and David Prutton nodding clear.

The first glimpse of daylight here that would scare away any Owl!
Let's hope so.....
Rudy Austin tries one from distance - well wide.
Falkirk are 0-2 up now over Hibs.
Cheers. I am on the site.It has updates up to the tenth minute on my computer
"Leeds are in control of this game" says the SS reporter.
It looks like Falkirk will play Dundee United or Celtic in the final.
I'm also following the text on the Football365 site.
I sure hope so. A win should help keep Brian's lads up.I am not sure if Evil Kenevil would have kept them up.
According to soccernet, Austin has had Leeds two best chances. The Owls have done naught.
I like the sound of that so far.
Catching practice for both keepers.
How about the Evil Kenevil remark. A fitting nickname?
Jermaine Johnson is doing a lot of fouling - time to get the cards out, ref.
About time - Johnson gets a yellow for "persistent infringement."
They really are evil!
Bloody hell - Not a Big Club have taken the lead. And it's that evil one, Jermaine Johnson with the goal.
My link is a bit behind, but he had already had a few infractions, so if you add on the ones he committed then definitely time for a booking
Sorry Bob. I just saw that.I just saw that Chris Kirkland saved a shot from a corner.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
MOT!
I hope Leeds come back. If Not a Big club wins then they are all the way up to ninth place.
We've responded well - a Paul Green free kick just saved off the line.
Another foul by Not a Big Club and a shot from Ross is cleared Miguel Angel Llera, the most booked player this season for Not a Big Club. He must be really evil!
I don't think paddy Kenny has made a save. Just caught a few crosses.
The goal did seem to come out of nothing - a big punt by Kirkland - Route 1.
BLOODY HELL!!! FALKIRK LEAD HIBS 0-3 IN THEW SCOTTISH CUP SEMIS.Surely, they must be all but in the final.
It seemed to be against the run of play.
More fouling by the Owls.I will check the stats at the half because I am interested to see the foul count.More catching practice for Chris Kirkland and Jermaine Johnson is offside
Coke gets a yellow for "unsporting behavior."
Giles Coke (interesting name ) is called for a foul on Ross and has talked himself into the book. The free kick seems to have been wasted.
Would he have been booked if he had been a Pepsi product???
First save by Kenny, from a shot by Leroy Lita.
Leeds seem to be dominating, but Brian will be disappointed that they haven't worked Chris Kirkland too often.I am sure that will be part of his first halftime talk.
I doubt it, MUR - boom boom!
Lita seemed to be player with so much promise, but seems destined to be a career Championship player
Ta, BD. I was wondering!
Into stoppage time at ER
Now its Miguel Llera with a free kick saved by Kenny. Sounds as if Not a Big Club are dominating now.
Paddy Kenny forced into another save. This time for Miguel Angel Llera.
They have taken charge the last few minutes. Brian will not be pleased.
Falkirk lead Hibs 0-3 at the half in the Scottish Cup Semi
Not a Big Club lead at the half thanks to the goal by Jermaine Johnson. Old Baldy will need to have a motivational debut halftime talk.
The schedule for 10 AM :
Arsenal vs Norwich on FSC
Reading vs Liverpool on FSC +
I know there is a match on either ESPN or ESPN 2, but it's not appearing on my guide.
I am home from the town drop off
I was listening to Sky Sports Radio
Sorry about the score Bob
Is the Semi on FSC today
Good morning, UWS. Leeds were dominating until the last few minutes of the half, but really didn't work Chris Kirkland too often.
DId you find a link for the match?
Sorry, UWS. The semi is on FSC+.
No links for this match. We've been following text updates.
The second half is underway from ER.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
The second half of the Scottish Cup semi is underway from Hampden park.
Half-time at Elland Road. Time for Brian to work his magic in the dressing room. I'm off to the magic couch for a few winks.
I'm back now from the magic couch. Brian has acted immediately and has brought on Spitty for the ineffectual David Norris. I love him already. I've had it with managers who wait until the hour mark regardless.
Come on, you Whites - time for the comeback!
A few halftime changes:
Spitty came on for David Norris for tactical reasons and Not a Big Club brought on Kieran Lee for Giles Coke. The Owls must have been thirsty for a change!
Sorry for no link to the match
Here is Soccer Saturday
http://www.firstrow1.eu/watch/180595/1/watch-soccer-saturday.html
I agree, Bob. well done on you, I mean Brian with the halftime change.
Falkirk may be in the Europa League in July so they can be thrown to the wolves.
Morning, UWS. Good to have you on board. Could use some MUFC mojo right about now.
Sounds like a scrappy start to the second half with fouls from both sides.
I just checked the stats and as expected the Evil Not a Big Club lead in fouls 14 to 6.Possession is 50-50 and each time has three shots on target , but Leeds have five extra off target.
Another change for Not a Big Club as Big forward , Steve Howard , is on for Jermaine Johnson. Both players that have come off have been booked. Smart by Dave Jones.
Looks like no coverage of FA Cup semi on FSC today.
I did not know that Stuart Holden is playing for Not a Big Club. Jurgen must be excluding him from the USMNT because he must be Not a Big Player!
No. It is on FSC+. Sorry lads.
I didn't realize that either - I thought he was still at Bolton.
Hibs have scored vs Falkirk, but trail 1-3. The start of a comeback?
No worries - I'll dial up a link for it.
Looks as if Spitty has jumped right into the middle of the match.
I just checked. it must be a loan as he came over last month from Bolton. He made two sub appearances for Bolton in the Cup and one sub appearance in the Championship, but has started the last three matches for the Owls.Strange about losing his place at Bolton.
Reda Johnson goes into the book now for a foul on Spitty. He's working his magic. We need to take advantage now.
Chris Kirkland saved a shot from Ross and two corners from Leeds, both taken by Spitty. One cleared by Llera and one caught by Kirkland.
Agreed, BD.
Paddy Kenny saved a free kick from Stuart Holden. Aidy White on for Steve Morison. I don't get that . Do you, Bob?
We've reached the hour mark. Aidy White is brought on for Steve Morison. Come on!
Steve has been right off the boil recently. No goals in the last nine matches. If he doesn't improve, we may well shop him in the summer.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
1-1 LUKE VARNEY WITH A HEADER!
YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!
I've just woken up the dog upstairs as Luke Varney equalizes!
1-1!
Ross with the assist as he crossed for Varney to head home.
That's Luke's fifth goal of the season. He's been just about the only one scoring recently.
Now let's go on and win it!
Surely Llera is itching for a booking for persistent fouling
It was Ross with a cross and Luke with a simple headed finish inside the box.
Leeds tie it up!!
I think Llera's already been booked - he's close to a second yellow.
i was in the loo when I heard it
Now I am off for walkies
I told you it would be a weird morning!
Back up to 15th now on 53 points. I want another goal straight away.
A sign of Leeds dominance is that Leeds have five corners and Not a Big club have yet to win a corner.Leeds should take advantage of that
Get one of those bone idle teenagers to walk Shadow, eh UWS?
Cheers UWS. Llera has not been booked despite just as many fouls as the entire Leeds team combined!
YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Woke up the dog again - Luke!!!!!!
2-1!
I agree, Bob. Sparky is asleep with Elizabeth
Let's get another, lads - improve the goal difference.
YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!! 2-1 AS LUKE VARNEY HAS A BRACE!
Sounds like an identical goal - Ross cross and Luke headed finish.
Back up into the top half - 10th on 55 points. What a difference a win would make.
Both goals were headers and both were crosses from Ross.
Holden has gone off for Maguire now. I doubt whether he's back to 100%.
I just saw that Fawlty Towers vs Barnet has been postponed.
Also, he's probably not match fit as this is only his third start the entire season.
About 15 minutes left in this one. Come on, you Whites!
WOW! Hibs score another as they now trail 2-3 after being down three at the half.
Eleven minutes plus stoppage time remaining.
COME ON YOU WHITES!
A few too many fouls by our lot right about now. Let's not allow these mugs back into this one. Come on!
I agree. It's getting testy at ER!
The comeback can come at Hampden - not at ER. Desmond is not welcome.
Just about ten minutes left. Hang in there, you Whites!
According to the stats fouling by both sides as each side have had several, so the ref will need to be alert the final few minutes.
Agreed, Bob. Desmond cannot go to Hampden either due to too many goals!
Paddy Kenny saved a header from Steve Howard off a free kick from Llera then Leroy Lita shot just wide.
Another great save by Paddy Kenny and again from a header by Steve Howard. The cross was from Lewis Buxton.
Sounds like we're under the cosh. We need someone like Spitty to take the pressure off. Hold the ball up, run into the corner, fall over and earn cheap fouls.
A reprieve for Leeds as Lita fouls Stepehen Warnock and Paddy Kenny clears.
Michael Tonge is on for Stephen Warnock. Not sure about that, but I guess Brian wants Tonge to control things in the center of the park!
Michael Tonge has come on for Stephen Warnock to run about a bit and waste some time. Nervous moments at ER. About five minutes and stoppage time left.
That is all the remaining substitutions from both sides. Two minutes plus stoppage time remaining
WOW! THE COMEBACK IS COMPLETE AT HAMPDEN. NOW 3-3. ET?
Should be just down to stoppage time at this point. Let's hope it's just a minute or two.
Sreve Howard fouls Jason Pearce and gives a chance for Paddy Kenny to clear the danger
Extra time now at Hampden.
Anthony Gardener blocked a shot from Michael Tonge. the corner from Spitty led to a goal kick
Hang onto the ball, lads. MOT!
Into stoppage time at ER
Deep into stoppage time now - blow up, ref!
Austin fouled Chris Maguire , but Varney cleared the danger
I am back... congrats Bob
Fingers crossed to hold on
Maguire shot wide and Paddy kenny with a long goal kick.
BLOW UP REF!
Welcome back, UWS. Time just about up.
Lita fouled Adam Drury and a chance to run time off the clock
Blow up, ref!
Into the fourth minute of stoppage time.BLOW UP REF!
YESSSSSSSSSS!!!
LEEDS HANG ON TO WIN 2-1
Congrats Bob. Surely Leeds must be safe with 55 points. A great managerial debut.
Well Done!!!!
Safety?
YES! Full-time at Elland Road and we've pulled off that first win under the McDermott regime that we were hoping for.
Safety in the Championship and lots of hope for next season now.
I was listening to Sky Sports Radio on my walk
Arsenal could go above Chelsea and Spurs into third with a win today
Did you know Arsenal play THREE times before Spurs play again in the League!
Off for a shower before the regularly scheduled matches.
I am off to Hampden as I am eager to await the outcome of the Scottish Cup Semi
I was not aware of that. I know Arsenal host Norwich today , host Everton in midweek. Is the third one next Saturday while Spurs play next Sunday?
ET underway at Hampden.
Gary Holt, the ex Canary, making his managerial debut for Falkirk! What a way to start.
The whistle has blown at Hampden Park in the Scottish FA Cup Semi Final
What a game of two halves!
Falkirk 3 up at half time
3-3 at the final whistle
Hibs also missed a pen!
Extra time awaits!
Nearly 4-3 to Hibs a s player was through with just the keeper to beat, but the keeper saved.
The announcer said the keeper made a double save from the penalty an Hibs nearly took the lead a minute ago.
I heard that Spurs paid the penalty at Basle Brush in the EL,
I think the fourth official was replaced due to injury!
Especially Ade. Did you see his horrible spot ?
The ESPN match doesn't seem on!
I didn't see it
The announcer said Hibs have won their last seven penalty shootouts. Those must have been in the Scottish Cup or Scottish League Cup.
They advertised one last night , but I don't see it either
In the penalty shootout, Ade shot underneath the ball and it cleared the bar by several yards. A real numpty!
Leeds up to Tenth
Lots of Hibs pressure off a corner. Falkirk blocked two shots then a shot from Just outside the box was high and wide.
Tiger Woods has been docked two strokes for an illegal drop yesterday
He should have be DQ but of course wasn't!
They should be safe too now that they are on 55 points.
He should have . Just like Ade, he's a numpty too, but probably worse.Tiger is a head case, IMHO!
ABT
ANYONE BUT TIGER!
I agree.
A shot from Griffiths leads to a Hibs corner. A poor corner from Griffiths eludes everyone and is out for a goal kick
Lee Griffiths scores but is called offside off a superb through ball. He looked level on the replay
A long ball from Doyle is headed out for another Hibs corner.
McPake heads on the corner from Griffiths and it is cleared as Murdoch of Falkirk is down with cramp
Into stoppage time and there will be some due to this stoppage!
Halftime of ET and still 3-3
The second half of ET is Underway from Hampden and Hibs attack from the off. Griffiths has a shot blocked then Taiwo headed wide from a cross by Griffiths.
Falkirk were offside.
A long Hibs throw leads to head tennis in the Falkirk box and a Hibs corner.
The corner from Griffiths is cleared.
The only shootout that Hibs have ever lost was to Leeds in the 70s in the Fairs Cup!Hibs must be favored in penalty shootout!
A rare Falkirk attack and Higgins blazes well over.
Another Hibs corner.
I am sure all the players on the field today had everything to do with that shoot out against Leeds!
The corner from Griffiths is cleared. Hibs play it back in and it runs out for a goal kick
They did.Who knows what they did in a previous life, LOL!
Also, it was an excuse to give Leeds a shout after that vital victory .
You could be right!
Cheers, UWS.
Another Hibs corner.GOAL !!! 4-3 HIBS AFTER THE CORNER FROM GRIFFITHS WAS CLEARED.IT MADE IT OUT TO GRIFFITHS FROM 25 YARDS OUT AND HE BELTED IT TO THE TOP CORNER WITH HIS LEFT FOOT.
Four minutes plus stoppage time remaining as Falkirk win a corner
What a comeback
1440:
GET INVOLVED
pnearn: "Hope those Hibs fans who left after 30 mins are embarrassed. You should always stay and support your team, win or lose"
The corner is cleared and Hibs win a throw.
