A Bloody Early Marathon Sunday
I'm up before the crack of dawn as there are four fixtures before we head into the international break. It starts with a noon kickoff at OT as United hosted the Toffees (7AM EDT). There is a double header at 9:05 as Cesc faces his former Gunners teammates as Chelsea host the Gunners while the Spuds hosts Pochettino's former club , the Saints. It concludes with another London Derby at 1115 as as the Hammers host Evil QPR in a return to Upton Park for Rio and " Butterfingers Green."

UWS and Someone , a Toffees fan will also have a special interest in this match. The main news is that Roon the Buffoon is serving the first match of a three match suspension for basically being a bloody idiot. He is replaced by Juan Mata. I favor United as the Toffees should be knackered after facing a trip deep into the Russian interior to play in Bob's beloved Europa League
The teams are headed out of the tunnel as I start to fix a strong cuppa.
Good morning. Could be a two cup of coffee day.
No Coleman or Mirallis for Everton.
They're off from OT
Good morning Someone. It will be great chatting with you in the battle of our teams.
United have one more point than at this time last season.
Is that why the ageless Tony Hibbert is in action? Those losses will hurt along with that long trip to the Russian interior.
Not sure how much of a battle it will be. Not impressed with current league form, and a couple of key injuries expose Everton's lack of depth.
That said, if Hibbert scores, I riot.
Great save by Timmy off a header from Falcao from a cross by Luke Shaw.
Morning, guys!
Thanks for getting us started with the thread, MUR. I'm looking forward to seeing the new look United again.
Useless final ball from Raffa. Good start from United
Good morning Bob. Great to have you on board.
I think it will be , Someone. The problem for Everton is the injuries ,lack of depth , and that long trip in Bob's favorite competition./
This is looking like the United of old, balls pinging back and forth with pace.
Di Maria's quality in play making is going to be the difference today.
Over from RVP off a cross from Di Maria. Nice possession.
Agreed Bob and Someone. I have noticed that United have played with pace. UWS should be pleased.
It would be nice to see Falcao score today. He's come close and has a couple of assists .
The Europa League has buried more league hopes than wee Roberto Martinez's.
RVP booked for a foul on Gareth Barry.
Kevin Friend has an early present for RVP - a yellow card.
That's why I favor United today.
A friendly yellow greeting card?
Young McNair has had a fantastic start to his United career. He's been like a new signing and has been in better form than his far more experienced colleagues. More mature than supposed leaders like Roon the Buffoon.
Bryan Oviedo scored the winner at OT in January. Is he still with the Toffees because he could play right back instead of Hibbert
I'm liking what Daley Blind is bringing to United's midfield. Down the line, I think he's a key ingredient for United's success.
Juan Mata should have given United the lead of a pass from Di Maria. He lost control then passed to Blind w, whose shot made it halfway to Leeds.
Orviedo is still on the mend from a serious leg break. He is on the bench.
I hate that the announcer said Roon would have scored. Not necessarily and at least Mata doesn't get stupid red card.
An early Toffees corner. Baines has an in swinger cleared.
Thanks Someone. That explains it.
RIght, MUR - as if we haven't seen Roon fluff his lines a million times, especially for England.
Everton keep the ball for a minute, but do not do much with it.
agreed Bob. Blind, and Di Maria have been fantastic signings. United have a point more than at this time last season and that includes the bad start. we're heading in the right direction.
Basic ran straight through Falcao there - another "Friendly" yellow card produced.
Besic with his second nasty foul and deservedly booked. this time on Falcao and previously on Shaw
Rafa wins another corner for United....
Corner was too shallow and is cleared.
Naismith heads out a cross from Raffa for a corner. It's headed out and United win another free kick off of Besic.
BOOM BOOM! Besic may get a friendly card several months before Christmas or Valentine's Day
Falcao rushes a shot and it's well wide.
Oh - great flick from Di Maria to Falcao but the striker shanked it.
Falcao needs one in off the bum to ease his nerves.
Agreed Bob. Spot on about Roon. Will he play Thursday vs San Marino.
And now it's Daley Blind into referee Friend's book.
He has two assists. Now he needs to score a couple . Why not today?
Some nice control along the touch line by Di Maria. Everton settling in, still have not put much into the box.
OH! Di Maria has a cross cleared off a nice long ball from Blind, who had the vision to find him.
Are you trying to say that Kevin Friend is a combination ref/ greeting card salesman? I understand that he wants to sell some red greeting cards today.
Di Maria has a long range effort deflected for a corner.
Blind shoots well over after a another shallow cross from Raffa was cut out by Naismith again.
It's still dark outside.
Pienaar receives a friendly greeting card for a foul on Raffa. Sales are well above average today.
Just a matter of time. Di Maria with a quality finish.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
DI MARIA SCORES WITH A CRACKING FINISH.
Blind had the vision to find Raffa down the right and his cross intended for Falcao was cut out . Mata passed to Di Maria , who superbly slotted it in the corner.
A correction, Someone. You mean a Mata of time. He has the assist.
A free kick to United.
Timmy superbly pushes the free kick from Di Maria around the post.
Howard had to work to push that free kick aside. Everton not making the passes.
Great opening goal by di Maria - congratulations, MUR!
This time the corner is overcooked instead of undercooked.
Ta, Bob. It was a great finish. Too bad UWS is not around to talk about it. He would be pleased.
Daley Blind called for a foul, but he didn't see anything wrong with the challenge.
Blind has to watch himself now - he's already been booked and United can't afford another high profile red card.
I'm sure that UWS is following this match on one device or another.
Blind has to "watch" himself.
But he needs to be sociable with his fellow LOBERS. I'm guessing his phone.
Three goals and two assists in five BPL appearances is none too shabby for Di Maria.
Everton now have a free kick.
It was a corner that United struggled to clear. Finally, RVP of all people clears. A warning for United.
Horrible cross by McGeady.
Is Naismith taller than Rapheal? Wow.
I think he's slightly taller.
Now the Toffees have a free kick. Raffa heads away the free kick from Baines.
Everton still have not tested De Gea.
My wife came out of the bedroom right when Di Maria scored. The door opened and the ball went in thew back of the net simultaneously.
That is correct, Someone.
Jags tackles RVP for a corner.
You should ask Elizabeth to go out and come back in again then, MUR.
Di Maria takes it short then gets it back and an outstretched RVP kicks it out for a goal kick.
Oh - nice take and turn by The Chunk but his finish was wayward.
Lukaku fires one high and wide, a small positive.
Well wide by the Chunk as he gets past young McNair ,. Nice long ball.
I just did that, Bob. I don;t think she's going for it.
Valencia has a cross deflected for a corner.
Valencia had bags of room there but could still only win a corner.
Elizabeth is doing that , Tinny punches away for another corner.,
Falcao has a shot go out for a throw off the corner from Di Maria.
The reenactment didn't work this time.
HIbbert was blatantly obstructing Falcao there - why don't referees call that anymore?
Two minutes of stoppage time.
That's a great question. I guess they have been told not too call too many fouls. That's my best guess.
Penalty to Everton!
Oh dear - Everton have gained a penalty right at the end of the half. Shaw upends Tony HIbbert in the box.
DAMN IT!!! WHY DID SHAW COMMIT A FOUL ON HIBBERT IN THE BOX SECONDS BEFORE HALFTIME. IT WAS NOT NECESSARY.
Hibbert taken down in the box. Hibbert!
Baines shot is saved by De Gea. Ugh.
Baines to take....
Saved De Gea!!!!
Not a great penalty - the first one that he's missed in 15 Premiership attempts.
BAINES TO TAKE.
WAY HAY!!!! DE GEA SAVES THE SPOT KICK FROM BAINES. A SUPERB SAVE AND A RARE MISS FROM BAINES.
And that's half-time - a breathless finish to a captivating half. United go in 1-0 up.
So United lead 1-0 at the half as De Gea saved a penalty from Baines seconds ago.Like the good old days.
Baines was too casual. No power in the shot. That's the moment of the match.
I have just come out of the loo to see the Tire Wrack commercial with Bob.
The second half is underway from OT.
United have already done something they didn't do last season: score against the Toffees.
Falcao just missed a cross/shot by Di Maria.
RVP has a header blocked by Jags for a corner. The corner from Di Maria is headed away, then Falcao failed to connect on his return cross, but was offside.
You may be interested to know that Celtic are hosting Hamilton Academical. It's really surprising as the hoops are in sixth place and the newly promoted Accies are in a the lofty heights of second place.
Nessie will be interested to know that it's midway through the second half of the Highland Derby as Callie are hosting struggling Ross County.
Ross have just taken a surprising lead at Callie.
The Staggies are terrible this season. Sacked their manager and GM, will be hopefully be replaced by Hearts.
Oh - Falcao should have scored there but hat's off to Stones to blocking his path at the end.
OH!!! A last ditch block by Stones to prevent Falcao from scoring . Shaw went easily past Hibbert. Besic headed away the corner from Di Maria.
Daley Blind really testing Kevin Friend's patience now.
Not sure if Falcao's shot was headed it, but Stones deflects it clear. Everton not showing any attack as the second half opens.
When sub time comes, Eto'o in for McGeady, Browning for Hibbert.
I may be a little behind on the comments because Elizabeth cooked me a bacon n' eggs brekkies.
Blind doesn't see that he is on thin ice.
The Staggies are four places above the Celts. I think it's great for Scottish footie that the Celts have competition. I expect Hearst to go up, but be replaced by a different team
GOAL! Naismith levels it - and you'd have to say that that was coming.
1-1
Scottish Messi levels it. Baines foot to Naismith's head!
BUGGER!!! THE TOFFEES TIE IT UP AS NAISMITH HEADS IN A CROSS BY BAINES. THAT MAKES UP FOR THE PENALTY MISS.
Great little free kick routine and sumptuous ball over by Baines for Naismith to nod home.
It was. United are punished for not taking their chances.
Jags heads out for a United corner.
Timmy does well to catch the corner from Di Maria at the far post.
Naismith wins a corner off of some quick passing.
Coming to the hour mark and it's time for changes. Oviedo is looking to come on for The Toffees.
The corner from Baines was headed on by Jags then away by Falcao. United under the cosh.
Falcao clears off the line!
The Accies are in 2nd place, the Staggies are at the bottom of the table.
Everton showing better.
Orviedo soon to be involved.
Oviedo's ears must be burning because Someone and I were talking about him.
OH! I get it. Ross are the Staggies. They might go down. They won their first match last season and it's really tight at the bottom. I expect Hearts to go up as champions and Rangers as playoff winners
GOAL! Falcao finally comes good for United!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
A BEAUTIFUL SIGHT AS FALCAO SCORES HIS FIRST FOR UNITED. THEY NOW LEAD 2-1.
If I go to Scotland in April a trip to Hamilton to see them play St. Johnstone may happen.
Falcao from Di Maria and United are back up.
Di Maria shanked one but it fell kindly to Falcao who gratefully directed it home.
2-1!
Poor defending by Everton.
Orviedo to replace the struggling Pienaar.
Credit to United for chasing down a l;ost cause . A pass from Mata to RVP went astray, but RVP pressured Timmy into a poor clearance. Valencia passed to Di Maria and his shot was diverted in by Falcao. Great to see him get off the mark.
Oviedo replaces Pienaar for the last half hour.
And he goes diving in straight away - could have been booked with his first action.
I am jealous, Someone. I would love a trip to Scotland. That may be a surprisingly decent match.
That's the hope. Done Celtic Park, now I want to experience a smaller stadium. Half hour by train from Glasgow.
Luke Shaw wins a corner off of Hibbert
My brother did the same in 2000 with Nearby Motherwell and Callie's stadiums. It was an exchange trip when he was in medical school.
McGeady has been poor today.
Oviedo offside as he is tackled by Blind.
Caliie tie it up in the Highland Derby.,
Luke Shaw limping off now - Tyler Blackett coming on for him.
Was that Fellaini I saw warming up? Ooh!
a standing ovation for Shaw as he is replaced by Tyler Blackett. I'm a little uneasy about that one, but Shaw hobbles off.
Hair Bear hasn't really had a look in since Blind was bought.
I agree Someone. I expected better from McGeady, but Hibbert has had a surprisingly decent match.
BOOM BOOM BOB! NICE ONE.
Hibbert has done well for himself out there. The attack has been sad. Got to get Eto'o out there.
My score update had Callie tying it up Now it sates that Ross are still one up.
Falcao withdrawn now having scored his first for the club. James Wilson on for him.
Mark Wilson on for Falcao , who gets a deserved ovation. Wilson scored twice on his debut in April
Correct. James , not Mark.
Blackett, Wilson , and McNair are great graduates of the MUFC Academy, but not quite the class of '92.
Osman and Browning due to come in. Uh, you need a goal Roberto.
Not quite, but it's still gratifying to see a big club that's bringing players through. When the last time you saw Chelski or Citeh do that?
Roberto about to have a final roll of the dice as he gets ready to make a double switch.
Leon Osman on for McGeady. Someone will be pleased . Browning , from the Toffees Academy, on for Hiobbert
The 'fro is on the pitch.
A familiar sight for Someone as Hair Bear is on for Valencia. OUCH!
I agree, Bob. Citeh and Chelski could definitely learn from that.
Mata fouls Oviedo after being dispossessed off a pass from Blackett.
Di Maria trips Stones in midfield.
Down to the last ten minutes or so for Roberto and co. to dig out a draw.
Still scoreless at Celtic Park.
Everton unable to create an equalizer, Baines' penalty the play of the match so far.
A cross from Browning is headed out for a corner. Did Naismith get the last touch?
Naismith nearly got to that header again. Corner.
Baines swings it long and Osman tries a slapshot that De Gea grabs.
Osman with a good shot that De Gea did well to stop
The corner was poorly headed away and De Gea saved a long range effort from Osman.
Now halftime at Celtic Park.
PHEW!! The Chunk is offside.
Good play by Stones to keep RVP from putting the match away,
Howard getting a stoopid yellow.
A through ball from Di Maria comes off of Stones for RVP, but Stones did well to recover , tackle RVP, and win a free kick.
Agreed. Not clever by Timmy.Great save by De Gea from Osman.
De Gea with a fine save on another very hard shot by Osman.
Everton needed this urgency earlier.
Di Maria counters off the corner from Baines, then is tackled.
A minutes of the four minutes of stoppage time has been played.
Wilson booked for a foul on Baines just outside the box. Baines made the most of it,.
Last ditch hotel for Everton....
Oh - what a great save by De Gea!
PHEW!!!! Oviedo had a shot blocked off the free kick then De Gea did well to tip over a long range effort.
Free kick to Everton just outside the box.
Everton running out of time.
De Gea with an amazing save. That's winning football there. Man of the match along with Di Maria.
Stones is down as the corner will be the last chance for the Toffees.
Callie have tied it up in the Highland Derby.
The Toffees will be down a man for the final corner and will Timmy come up for the corner?
Stones being stretchered off. Crap crap crap.
Howard probably coming up for this last free kick, which should be the last play of the match.
The Chunk heads well over as Timmy did not come up.
And Lukaku heads it high and away. That's it.
Good chatting with you all today, enjoy the win.
And that's it - United hold on for a big win and are fourth in the Premiership now. Are the new look United the real deal?
That should do it.United keep the ball off a poor pass from Timmy .
YESSSSS!!!! THEY run out the clock and hold on to win 2-1 in a nerve wracking final few minutes.
Have a great day , Someone. It was a a great if nail biting contest
Next is Chelsea vs the Gunners from SB and the Spuds vs the Saints from SFL.
Not sure yet, Bob. I sure hope so.
Next up - the tasty encounter between Chelski and Arsenal - here are the starting line-ups:
Chelski - Courtois, Invanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpi, Matic, Fabregas, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Costa.
Arse - Sussudio, Chambers, Mert, Koz, Gibbs, Flamini, Jack, Caz, Ozil, Alexis, Welly.
Delay to the match - I'm off for a snuggle with the missus.
There is a fifteen minute delay from SB as NBC does well to switch over to SFL.
They're off from SFL.
Poor form, Bob. You are missing the action from your beloved SFL.
