Hurrah - it's Boxing Day!
Jingle bells, Wednesday smells, Millwall ran away - oh, what fun it is to see the Whites win on Boxing Day! Oh yes, my old beauties, it's Boxing Day once again. A magical day when we work off all that excess turkey weight by sitting on our arses and watching the footer all day long. We'll be around for the early one between Chelski and the Hammers before packing off and watching the later ones with Dad. Join me for all the hijinks here on the LOB.

Good morning Bob.That must explain why I'm up early while on vacation. It's a tradition.
Happy Boxing Day, MUR - it is a tradition. Glad to share it with you, mate!

Dear Santa - can I have a Diego Costa hat-trick for late Christmas pressie, please?
A minute of applause to mark the Christmas Truce match - very nice touch.
Boxing Day kicks off with a London Derby as it's Chelsea vs the Hammers. First vs Fourth and now they're off.
I was wondering what that was. I was in the kitchen deciding which of the twelve days of coffee to have
And we're away at the Bridge.
Hazard is sandwiched by Kouyate and Downing early doors. He'll pop up like toast in a moment.
Hazard is down caught in traffic at Ten Downing Street. That's what he gets for Jay walking.
I hope the Hemmers will be carroling to to a victory today. I hope to see Chelsea hammered.
Oh - bad miss from Oscar. Jenkinson let him slip in the backdoor but he blew it over the top.
OH!!!! The hammers defense fell asleep off a pass from Willian and Oscar missed an early sitter , blasting over. A Brazi combo.
Chelski all over the Hammers early doors with both fullbacks pushing up.
The Private is having a hangover from some eggnog he had yesterday?
Will you be watching the rugby match at ER today?
Jenkinson definitely hung over as Diego beat him too easily to the ball. It wasn't a virgin eggnog and hopefully it's not gonna costa point for the Hammers.
The Hammers are laying back and Chelski are taking advantage of it. Noble fouls Oscar - decent free kick opportunity.
Why did Mark Noble push Oscar. He wasn't going anywhere?
I wish I could, mate.
Cahill, who has a Christmas beard, arrives at the backpost to nod over.
Carroll headed away the free kick from Fab as Chelski keep possession then a collector's item as JT puts in a nice cross. Headed wide by Cahill.
My Christmas gift from the in-laws was the twelve days of coffee and I went with the Irish Creme. It was down to that and the Italian Roast.
Carroll is yellow carded for an innocuous looking challenge.
Matic has to be the best defensive middie in the Prem this season.
Lovely gift idea for you, mate. We're having the traditional bagels and coffee. Traditional pork pies for lunch today.
It wasn't even a foul. The ref is looking like Oliver Twist , but Carroll was not singing for any more.
Definitely, mate. Gooner and I were just talking about that. He's another of these players who just seemed to arrive at the Bridge a perfect fit for the side.
An early boom boom for you, Basil!
Lovely. Too bad I'm not there to join you. I hope Harry's lads get stuffed while you're eating pork pie.
Cheers mate. Since yesterday was TBT, I will say that Hazard looked like Frannie Lee diving for a penalty.
The Hammers break and win a corner at Ten Downing Street.
Oh - a dreadful corner from Downing. That's got to be West Ham's only chance today.
The corner didn't travel far and was headed away by the first man . Then Willian fouls Noble.
The free kick from Valencia wasn't any better.
I wonder if you saw my reference to Frannie Lee, who was naughty vs Leeds in his last season as a player. a bit overweight too or was he always?
West Ham have been wasteful this morning.
Oh - great save by Adrian there from Cahill.
Adrian beats away a shot from Cahill after Carroll cleared away a corner from Fab.
Always naughty and a bit tubby, Frannie Lee. But players could get away with that back in the good old days.
Some lower division matches have just kicked off . My eye is on as match down the road as the Bees host the Tractor Boys.
Do you remember why he was naughty? He did something that is more common today than back then that irked one of the well behaved Leeds players.
Yeah - that's a crucial one.
I remember Frannie's diving, for sure.
UWS will be interested in Pompey vs the Real Dons while Cambridge United host Southend not on Sea today.
Agreed. It looked like something from the Prem. Do you remember the fight? The power of Youtube in case you wonder how I knew.
A horrible free kick from Oscar
Oscar is off the mark from the free kick.
I'll look it up.
Collins picks up a yellow card there for tripping up Costa.
Fabregas strikes one into Adrian's arms.
Diego Costa looked like Frannie Lee with that dive . Collins harshly booked with what was a perfectly timed tackle. The Free kick from Fab was easily saved by Adrian.
Great save by Adrian from Willian.
I'm surprised you missed it. It was on MOTD as described by John Motson.
A scramble in the Hammers box and James Collins just clears for a corner then
GOAL !!! JT SCORES OFF THE CORNER.
GOAL! John Terry opens the scoring after some scintillating play from the Blues.
Great header from Costa but it was going wide before Terry tipped it in.
1-0 Chelski!
Costa headed down the corner from Fab and JT finioshed easily from close range. He scored off a corner as he did on Monday.
Aaron Cresswell is booked for a naughty challenge on Oscar.
BUGGER!!! Evil Cardiff take the lead at Charlton in the opposite end of London.
That was rather naughty.
OUCH!!! The Real Dons are two up at Fratton Park with just over a quarter of an hour played.
Adrian superbly turned around a shot from Matic. Nothing happening from this corner.
Naughty? The foul or the fight ?
Late by Costa on Winston Reid.
UWS will definitely not be a happy chappy about the score at Fratton Park.
OH!!! Costa had a shot take a wicked deflection off of James Collins for a corner then Costa headed on the corner to JT , who headed right to Adrian.
Oh - Costa shinned it over there.
Costa blasts over from a pass by Ivanovic as Chelsea pass at will through the Hammers defense.
Andy Carroll has spent most of the half complaining.
VAlencia tackles Oscar for a corner.
A poor corner is cleared. as we have a minute of stoppage time
Now it's handbags from Ivanovic and Carroll.
Ivanovic went down really softly there and should be yellow carded.
Not a time of good cheer as Ivanovic went down too easily, trying to win a penalty off a challenge from Carroll ,. Hammers players ganged up om him.
It's halftime and Chelsea are one up vs the Hammers. It could have been so much more.
Half-time: Chelski predictably on top at the interval. We can always dream for a Hammers revival in the second half, right mate?
WOW!!! Goals down the Road from SB as the Tractor Boys are three up at Brentford in the first half.
Sure thing , mate. It only takes a second to score a goal.
The Tractor Boys with three in a half hour in a promotion six pointer at Brentford. Daryl Murphy with a brace , including one in the first minute and Paul Anderson with the other
Desmond is choosing to watch a local derby in the Conference as that's the score between Forest Green and Kidderminster on the stroke of halftime.
The second half is underway at SB.
Well done, the Tractor Boyz. I'm back for the second half with some scrambled eggs and a refill on the coffee.
A Sweet Sixteen for JT? According to Becky, he made his debut sixteen years ago on Boxing Day. He scored to commemorate the occasion.
Pleat must have had a cold shower this morning - no overly salacious comments from him yet. However, it's still early.
Courtois makes a rare error as he misses a corner , but gets away with it,.
Must be - happy sweet sixteen, JT. A great servant to Chelski.
Not so far. He may be hung over from some eggnog
Agreed. As much as we hate him, he's been remarkably consistent.
Fab concedes a corner to the Hammers/
The corner from Noble was headed away.
My apologies , Bob, but I need to make a correction. Carroll was not whining, but " carroling out of Toon." Matic was conducting the Blues orchestra. Any questions?
Adrian pushes away a rocket from Hazard off a pass and run from Willian.
Nice one, mate. Nice one.
Koyate trips Hazard and hopefully, it won't be on e for the Hammesr
Reid fouls and sets up another free kick. Adrian won't be pleased at that.
Cheers, mate.
willian curls the free kick over. It was not far off.
Willian takes and its wide.
I am alone with the pets as Elizabeth and the girls are at the in-laws. I guess you could say I'm the star in Home Alone.
Looks like Alex will be on for a Boxing Day Song in a moment. He'll fit in with the Carrolling theme.
Indeed - don't let any burglars in, mate.
Oliver Twist hears some out of Toon carrolling as it's not music to his ears and did not say" Sir May I Please Have Another."
Winnie Reid booked for a foul on Twinkletoes Hazard.
Song comes on with the trademark shorts pulled up look.
A double substitution for Fat Sam. Sakho on for Carroll and Song on for Mark Noble. Fat Sam decided he still wants some music
Sure thing, mate. The doors have been secured as I've been alone since Tuesday evening and will be until Monday evening.
I wonder if Jose will try to shut up shop with Obi Wan in a moment or two.
Well done, mate. So, you'll be discovering the joys of shaving.
GOAL !!! BOB WILL BE PLEASED AS COSTA PUTS CHELSEA TWO UP WITH A TRADEMARK FINISH.
GOAL! Costa rifles one left-footed into the corner. One more goal for my GBB!
2-0!
Oh - Courtois did well at Valencia's feet. Almost an immediate response from the Hammers.
courtois does well to rush out and save at the feet of Valencia , who gathered a through ball and went past Cahill
I am rather pleased, yes. I think that's 13 for Costa now, one behind Aguero.
Back to the goal: Koyate looked more like a coyote as he was tackled by Ivanovic. The ball broke to Hazard , who found Costa . He turned a defender then shot in the corner
Costa volleys wide from a cross by Ivanovic.
Oscar tackles Song then is tripped by Song.
Adrian does well to tip over a free kick from Oscar
Oh - Adrian somehow prevented number three.
The Hammers struggle to clear the corner.
Barnet , top of the Conference , take the lead at Aldershot.
I've posted a special Boxing Day message on FB.
The second Chelsea was a hazard that may Costa the Hammers a chance of getting something out of this match
Just wide by Fab off a one two with Hazard then Costa was offside.
The Leeds blankie is a regular this time of the year
What was that from Downing!?
BUGGER!!
Southend take the lead at Cambridge.
That's it for Downing as he's replaced by Amlfitano on the final roll of the dice for Fat Sam
Stevenage have no need to put Dave Beasant on the subs bench as his son, Sam, is instead. That sets up a quiz question that I will ask in the near future.
Barnet were 0-1 up at Aldershot and now lead 1-2 as they aim to remain top of the Conference. Bob will be pleased.
Great stuff from Hazard there - I'd love a piece of him.
Are you still a Cambridge Utd fan, mate?
The Tractor Boys have take the Sting out of their match just down the road from SB thanks to three goals in the first half hour.
I'm not really a fan per say, but have a soft spot for Cambridge and like to see them do well.
A tough schedule for the Hammers this holiday period. Trash talking between Gooner and WHR on Sunday?
Just what the Hammers don't need is Drogs coming off the bench.
This West Ham loss will encourage the likes of Soton and Arsenal to get back into the CL spots over Christmas.
Yeah - looks as if Costa will get a rest for the Sunday match.
Oscar off as well - Obi Wan on.
A late double substitution from Jose as Costa is swapped out for Drogs and as Bob stated , Obi Wan is on to to replace Oscar and shut up shop.
Definitely a chance. Lots of combinations and permutations during the holiday period.
Pleat talking the usual bollocks there - Oscar doesn't have dribbling or passing ability?
Valencia wins a free kick off of Ivanovic.
Drogs heads away the free kick from Cresswell.
And the last change - Ramires for Willian.
A brazi swap of a defensive nature and the final roll of the dice from Jose as Ramires is on for Willian.
Jose singing Felize Navidad and a Bueno Ano?
Oh - nearly there from Amalfitano.
Morning boys
I have been around and about since I woke up at half time
Happy Boxing Day
A decent header from Amalfitano looked harmless, but wasn't too far off. the closest the Hammers have come to scoring.
The Hammers hit the post... bugger
He must be - it's been an easy win today. I thought the Hammers might get after Courtois at set pieces but Downing's been pinging them at the first man.
OH!!! Off the post from Amlafitano as he did well tot turn JT
Morning, UWS - a very happy Boxing Day to you. Did you get everything you wanted from Santa?
Good morning UWS. I hope you've been enjoying the holiday period.
Ipswich doing well at Bob's disliked Brentford
I hope your entrance inspires Pompey to play up to a comeback.
Not far off from Drogs.
Correct. The Tractor Boys have taken the sting out of the promotion six pointer down the road thanks to three goals in the first half hour.
I did have a great Christmas.
Kathy got me Apple TV which I have set up yet
The BIG present we got was from Kathy's ex-Navy brother. It came in three parts...some chocolates, a book and then a card
The candy was some Hawaiian candy, a book about Hawaii and then a card with a check in it saying for Xmas and our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 2015 ... A TRIP TO HAWAII IS IN YOUR FUTURE!
Amalfitano wins a corner. Will he start on Sunday vs the Gunners
Lovely - we got an Apple TV last year from Kate's dad - we love it. Have fun!
And Hawaii sounds magic!
Maybe - or that Vaz Te bloke.
Well done, mate. You really hit the jackpot. well done.
Oh - Ramires should have scored the third.
VAz Te hasn't started in ages. Is he still with the Hammers?

SS link
All over at the Bridge
It's over at SB and Chelsea stay top with a routine 2-0 victory vs the Hammers
That's it, then. Chelski six points clear at the top before the 10am kickoffs. We're off to enjoy the rest of the day with Dad. No wi-fi at his place.
I hope I know how I can get the best out of Apple TV
Not good news in League Two
Cambridge and Pompey.. my two teams... both losing at home late on
Hopefully a late comeback for both.
We're off to Charlotte tomorrow so I won't be around for Sunday's fixtures and also New Year's Day. I will be back for the FA Cup weekend
The Bees score a consolation goal vs the Tractor Boys.
Brentford get a goal back but Ipswich get a goal back a minute later
1-4
SS showing the goals!
Have a safe trip. Will you be up at eh crack of dawn to watch United on Sunday?
Tommy Smith with the the Tractor Boys fourth goal and we're not talking about the ESPN analyst
Ipswich will be top!!
Funnies on SS
Brentford get a second but not much time left
Again, they are showing the goal.. wonder if we'll get all the Championship goals for the three o'clockers
The Bees pull back another consolation goal as they trail 2-4. Too little, too late,.
Di Maria picked up an injury in the United's last training season on Christmas Eve!
Can you give me the link? I'm not having success finding one that works
Charlton score late on to draw 1-1 with Cardiff. That's now a final score.
Starting Line Ups at OT
Man Utd : De Gea, Jones, McNair, Evans, Valencia, Carrick, Rooney, Mata, Young, van Persie, Falcao.
Newcastle : Alnwick, Coloccini, Sissoko, Anita, Gouffran, Colback, Perez, Janmaat, Taylor, Armstrong, Dummett.
The Toon won this fixture last time... better not happen again
BUGGER!! Cambridge and Pompey lose at home.
I posted it already
I agree. Bad news about the Di MAria injury, but we should be able to defeat an inexperienced Toon side that will hopefully hit lots of sour notes.
Yes. I just found it. Cheers!
They're off from OT!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
We're off
Come on United
ATTACK AND ENTERTAIN
My link just froze as the kick offs around the country
I'm sure that UWS doesn't just want a victory, but also much more emphatic than that 4-3 thriller played two years ago today.
Love having EIGHT Prem matches going on
I tried all the links on the site you gave me. None of them work
Attack by passing forward
Penetrate into the box
Move the ball quick
Not happening so far
A brilliant way to spend Boxing Day.
Sunderalnd score in the first minute in a derby with Hull... Adam Johnson scores again
Score the last minute in one game and the first in the next!!
Spurs take the lead at Leicester City
Harry Kane
Roon offside off a pass from Mata that Young Jak pushed away
Not good enough by United
I know it is only been three minutes but where is the desire
