Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Afternoon, chaps. I hope that you're enjoying a good start to the week. It's finals week here in Fred-town, so I'm taking a break from my grading to bunker in with a First Row link to Everton v. QPR.
Here are the teams lining up in the tunnel at Goodison now:
Everton: Howard; Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines; Besic, Barkley; McGeady, Naismith, Mirallas; Lukaku. Subs: Robles, Eto’o, Kone, Pienaar, Stones, Garbutt, Alcaraz.
QPR: Green; Isla, Onuoha, Dunne, Yun; Phillips, Mutch, Barton, Fer, Hoilett; Vargas. Subs: Ferdinand, Hill, Wright-Phillips, McCarthy, Kranjcar, Henry, Zamora.
Referee: Neil Swarbrick (Lancashire)
Everton start the match just below mid-table in 13th. With a home win today, they could jump back into the top half and push their cross-town rivals into the bottom.
The stakes couldn't be any higher for Rangers, who start in 18th and could jump out of the relegation zone into 15th with an away win today.
I've always loved the "Z Cars" Theme that Everton play when the teams come out. That's real working class stuff.
Good afternoon, Bob. We start semester exams tomorrow. I will be around for parts of the match
And we're away from Goodison, Martin Tyler on the microphone tonight. Lovely.
Afternoon, mate - great to have you around.
I am watching on stream2u.me, a sight that has eluded the school district net cops.
McManaman! Doo doo doo doo doo!
Nice one, mate.
Gooner favorite Barton hacks Coleman but gets away with it.
Now I finally have a video as QPR have a corner off a free kick
Harry already looking pensive on the touchline.
The corner was taken short, the cross cleared away , then Matty Phillips shot over from 25 yards out.
It looks like a decent start from QPR.
Burnley are back in the dropzone merely because of the kickoff of this one.
Junior Hoilett is down after being caught by Jags
That's an extra point for me in the PPP. So much for defeating the Saints.
Harry looks as if he has a bad taste left in his mouth. Is it something Toffee flavored?
Good afternoon. Home from work specifically to watch this. Just out of reach for Lukaku.
OH!!! a great break by the Toffees as a superb long ball from Barkley found Naismith down the left and his pass for the Chunk was just too long or else it would have been the lead for the Toffees.
Good afternoon , Someone. I expect the Toffees to win. QPR have yet to record an away point this season and their top scorer , Charlie Austin, is out injured for this match.
A free kick for the Toffees conceded by Joey Barton.
Naughty by Besic on Vargas and a great set piece opportunity for QPR
Oh dear - Hoilett shanks one well over. QPR are not going to imporve their miserable away scoring record that way.
The free kick from Joey Barton is headed away then Junior Hoilett has an effort that makes it halfway to Manchester
Hiya, Someone - great to have you on board this afternoon.
Isla concedes an unnecessary corner.
The corner from Barkley is to Mirallis, who crosses right to Rob Green
Everton are certainly encouraging QPR to think they have a chance of gaining some points today.
AM ambitious long range effort from Canuck, Hoilett is straight to Yank, Timmy.
The Toffees must be thinking about how to make the Young Boys feel old.
Goodison crowd quiet on a Monday night.
I guess this is a pub match between the Blue Oyster and the Evil Ranger
It's certainly a fortunate draw for Everton. They should be yodeling all the way back to Goodison.
I'm sure the decibel level will increase once the Toffees score.
Nice one, Bob. Their neighbors from across Stanley Park should have been yodeling after playing Basle Brush, BOOM BOOM!
Vargas wins a corner off of Distin. Should have been a goal kick
QPR pick up a corner courtesy to a refereeing mistake and promptly waste it into the arms of Timmy.
Timmy catches the corner that wasn't Mutch of one.
A return to Goodison for Richard Dunne , who played there ions ago.
Boom, boom, Basil!
Dunne is a consummate Premiership journeyman.
Oh - Mirallas launches one just over the bar.
Just over from Mirallis from about 25 yards out.,
Naismith fire and hits a defender in the box and Mirallas shoots high. Bit of good bite from the home side.
Correct . His pro playing career is all but Dunne.
You're on a roll, mate. Still waiting for you to come up with a pun for Lukaku.
Karl Henry is playing for QPR this evening. He hasn't committed a foul or made a tackle.
Cheers, mate. I have a class beginning . I will try to be around later in the match , if possible.
Joey Barton takes a tumble - couldn't happen to a nicer thug.
Don't hurt them, MUR!
Half an hour in and still goalless at Goodison.
GOAL! Oh - that is a super strike from Ross Barkley to open up the scoring!
1-0 Toffees!
Barkley with the left foot! 1-0.
Rob Green didn't have a chance as that laser of a shot rocketed by him.
So that's Everton up into the top half and QPR back in trouble.
Everton have to not let up now. They've sat on too many one goal leads and its cost them points.
That's been their crucial weakness this season and why they aren't challenging for the European spots.
Baines has a chance now after Barton clumsily elbowed Naismith.
GOAL! Mirallas confounds everyone and takes it right footed and sweeps it into the left. A bit of a deflection off Vargas fooled Rob Green.
2-0 Everton!
This season, and last and the year before...
OH, Free kick by Mirallas is deflected and it's 2-0!
Everton have a firm grip on this match as we edge closer to half-time.
McGeady tries to get on the board but his shot is wide.
Oh - McGeady nearly had number three after a quick break through Mirallas.
Martin Tyler emulates our own MUR with a "no rub of the Green" pun to end the half. It's true that the proceedings have been a bit "un-Fer" on QPR, who haven't been that bad.
2-0 Everton at the interval.
More of the same from Everton in the second half, please.
I recorded the match, but it seems as if I missed the good stuff after I left.
I'm back after an extended break to see Naismith notch Everton's third!
Over and out for QPR.
A catalog of errors that will give Harry Redknapp nightmares tonight. First, Rob Green's clearance went straight up in the air and then Richard Dunne tried to control it Zidane style, which is really above his comfort level.
Scottish Messi! Three points almost locked up.
Cue Bobby Zamora getting up off the bench. Not sure what he's going to do about this.
The Toffees are three up. Lovely to see.
Timmy just fails to prevent a corner,
A poor corner is easily cleared.
"Scottish Messi" is surely the best oxymoron that I've come across in a while.
Herry's throwing out another attacker. 32 minutes left.
QPR seem destined for another yo-yo season.
Leroy Fer with a decent run but his shot was well over the mark.
He was pretty Fer off.
Chrissy Waddle is right - the difference in Premiership and Championship quality is the quality in the final third.
The Toffees have been really efficient ,with three out of four shots on target landing in the back of the net.
Agreed. None of the newly promoted teams have that cutting edge up front.
To be Fer to him, Besic was putting him off.
QPR showing some good movement with the finish going way over the net.
That's quite enough punning action for me today, lads. I'm off home. Everton have this one home and hosed.
The next effort didn't trouble Timmy that Mutch as the effort looked like something from a different type of Monday Night Football.
Cheers Bob. Hope you are around for the Capital one Cup action tomorrow.
Have a safe commute home Bob :)
Still 3-0. This one is pretty much done and dusted,. The Toffees are set for a good win.
It would take a monumental collapse that would ruin my day.
Pienaar in for McGeady. I'm surprised Kone is not out yet.
Ridiculous defending and a poor rebound by Howard results in Zamora tapping it in, and there goes the clean sheet. 10 minutes to go.
Eto'o in for Lukaku,
Mutch tackles Mirallas and draws yellow. The Belgian's being stretchered off with what appears to be a left lower leg injury.
Four minutes added time.
Kone in for Mirallas.
Barkley to take the free kick and fires wide.
Kone to Eto'o and it's off the post. Moments later Kone just missed on a sweet feed from Barkley.
Mirallas' injury aside, a good win for Everton. Full time.
