Still the BIggest Match in the Land?
Manchester United and Liverpool have won a total of 38 Championships! Liverpool dominated in the 70s and 80s and United have dominated since but now, according to Ex Red Devil Gary Neville, it has become a Pub Game between the Dog and Duck and The Red Lion
Your thoughts?
No matter, it is a must see
COME ON UNITED!!!!

Morning Boys
The big news out of both camps is that Wilson starts for United and still not Falcao and Jones starts for Liverpool as Mignolet is dropped
Here are the sides
Man Utd:
De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Evans, Young, Carrick, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, van Persie, Wilson.
Subs: Falcao, Januzaj, Lindegaard, Ander Herrera, Fletcher, McNair, Blackett.
Liverpool:
Brad Jones, Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Gerrard, Allen, Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana.
Subs: Toure, Lambert, Lucas, Mignolet, Can, Balotelli, Markovic.
Referee: Martin Atkinson (W Yorkshire)
No real striker on the field for Liverpool but Coutinho and Sterling could be dangerous
As for United, Rojo hurt in training yesterday so we have the scary back three of Jones, Evans and Carrick
One of the Two Ronnies said that Carrick could move and the two outside men move back to make it a four
Mustoe makes the point that Young had space to take some one and he goes backwards
Boy, I hope United play better than Friday... they were so bad
Good morning UWS! I love your post. A real classic. My thoughts? Gary Neville is spot on until one of those teams, hopefully The Dog and Duck, prove him wrong.
I agree with Rebecca, it is not a derby but a rivalry even though the two clubs are y closer than Ipswich and Norwich are to each other BUT there is Man CIty and there is an Everton. There isn't a Norwich United or and Ipswich Rovers
I just started listening to the Two Robbies. I think the Two Daves would be better. I hope we play better than Monday. If we do, we should handily defeat the Red Lion.
Morning MUR
Totally agree with you
What do you make of the teams?
Falcao can't get a game. Surely he won't stay!
Jones in to the Pool side... no striker
I would like to see United test the Fake Brad Early and Often against" The Young Ones."
I think Brendan is scared of us. No strikers starting, but three on the bench. That's what I make of his lineup. I think this is where James Wilson can make a name for himself. I think Falcao has been struggling with injury and signing him, albeit on loan, was a big mistake.
Now that my morning coffee has kicked in, I see that those are actual pubs. Well spotted.
I'm still being asked to prove I'm not a robot. That's my question to the two pub teams facing each other today.
I fear that the could like the new formation and attack well!
Not confident at all.. I haven't for any match so far this season
They say Liverpool are playing a 4-3-3. It's really a back four with three defensive middies and three attacking middies. It's old fashioned and almost without tactics.
I think Pool fans feel the same about their team . They look like we did last season.
What is United's line up
Two defenders 7 midfielders and 3 up front.... even though Rooney thinks he plays in all positions
I think Carrick is my favorite United player
He has done nothing but dominate matches
WOW !!We've won five in a row. Advantage United against a Pool team in wretched form. They couldn't even beat Basle Brush at Anfield.
BOOM BOOM!
Are you confident?
He's my favorite United player at this time. Before that it was OGS , who showed what being a United player is all about.
They said United have a 3-5-2. LVG has been playing Carrick as a central defender, so the back three are Carrick , Jones ,and Evans. With RVP and Wilson up front that leaves five middies if my math is accurate.
Teams in the tunnel.
Rooney and Gerrard ignoring each other
I am confident if for no other reason than the fact that Liverpool have been even worse than us.
HERE THEY COME
Great job AGAIN by NBC
Love it. Old England teammates are perhaps not mates. That's what this rivalry is all about.
Absolutely. Do you think Brendan has a chance of winning the sack race? Did anyone pick him? I doubt it.
Brendan is being found out? A genius last season? No. He rode Danny and Luiz while LVG is winning without any striker in spectacular form. That says it all.
I would doubt it too.
I can't see how he deserves the sack after last season... that would really be knee jerk
Away we go
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
They're off from OT.
COME ON UNITED!!!
THRASH THE BANANAS.
A win would put United TEN points ahead of Pool
Lallana wins an early corner.
Carrick clears off the line from Skrtel off the corner from Stevie G at the Stretford End. All Pool from the off.
Both teams that could have overtaken United yesterday failed to do so yesterday.
A two goal defeat by United would see West Ham overtake us
NOT A GOOD START BY UNITED!!
Very shaky back there!!
I hope our passing is better
I disagree with Brendan dropping Mignolet. I don't blame him for the slump. Others have been far worse.
Where are the days of United attacking from the off
I agree. Pool are up for this. Horrible pass from Hair Bear
We're going back too many times
Bad passing again
Not since SAF. It ended when Rene Muelensteen became assistant manager and installed LVG type tactics.
Hair Bear booked for a poor foul on Lallana . The free kick from Stevie G was headed away.
Felani with the first booking
United can't get the ball out of their half
I hate to say this , but United stopped being an attacking team the season I joined the LOB. Just don't blame me.
United can't keep possession
They can't handle passing under pressure
To be honest, Pool have done a good job of playing the pressing game.
ALL YOUR FAULT!!!
Every pass is going backwards...GO FORWARD GO WIDE
United should be able to handle the pressure
United get it into the box!!!
Cleared
Falcao should be embarrassed that an inexperienced teenager is preferred to him.
According to the BBC
66% possession for Liverpool
Thought it was higher
LOL, UWS! Actually, it changed when Rene Muelensteen became assistant manager and we played 4-5-1 AKA 4-2-3-1. SAF decided to delegate tactics to him and we abandoned the two strikers. That's my theory.
Jones' pass was worse than Young's
Mata wins a free kick off of Joe Allen
Free kick chance.... we go sideways and backwards... now Pool attack..
Sterling... saved by De Gea
Great save by De Gea from Sterling off a pass from Lallana . United aree robots
ROONEY!!
BLOODY HELL!!
HOW ARE UNITED AHEAD!!!
I can't believe it!
Sterling should have buried his chance... Rooney did
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
ROON GIVES UNITED THE LEAD AGAINST THE RUN OF PLy seconds later. valencia nutmegged Joe allen then passed for roon to slot home.
Agreed . Pool are punished for that miss from Sterling then seconds later United punished the Pool./
Good possession by Valencia but tries to find RVP down the wing but the Dutchmen wanted it square
United still looking backwards first with their passes
Valencia scored 26 seconds and four passes after the miss from Sterling. The save broke to Valencia, passed to Mata, who passed to RVP, who passed to Valencia the GOAL!
Poor lay off from Wilson as United began to put a few passes together
Morning boys - sorry to be late for the festivities. Great to see that United have their noses in front. Just saw the replay of Roon's goal.
What was that from Hair Bear?
Carrick fouls Lallana.
Good morning , Bob. Great to have you on board . United scored against the run of play 26 seconds after a glaring miss from Sterling.
Morning Bob
United wining but still the Dog and Duck v the Red Lion really!
So far, Gary Neville has been spot on.Neither team has really proved him wrong.
Regarding Falcao, it sounds as if he's a lazy trainer who hasn't impressed LVH with his work habits.
Roon wins a free kick off of Coutinho.
Rooney in the Scholes position.
I think that is his spot
Stretford End singing "Sacked in the Morning" to Brendan Rogers. Tasteful.
Yes. I think he has been a bust and will be on his way to Monte Carlo once his loan ends.
I love the graphic, mate. Thanks for the post this morning.
The Stretford Faithful may be correct. Brendan is on a horrible and cannot ride Sturridge or Suarez
Jones has been booked.
You're welcome
Agreed. It's an excellent graphic. Will Yashley go to Young's after the match?
Rooney's goal has been United's only shot on goal
They only had three against Sotton
ONLY FOUR SHOTS in a game+... three goals mind you
De Gea saves from Sterling agin
JONES SUCKS
Oh - Twilight does well to cover his near post with Sterling ghosting through the United defense.
Great turn by Sterling and has a near post effort pushed out by De Gea for a corner. The corner is cleared.
Efficiency from Roon.
Glen Johnson seems to be struggling and Kolo Toure is warming up.
Kolo warming up as Glen Johnson appears to be injured.
There's the switch we mentioned.
Where are the days of a goal turning United into attacking force... open the floodgates... hopeless
Just texted Tony thru WhatsApp
We're wining but I am still annoyed
Cheers as Stevie G slips and coughs up possession.
Valencia with space... piss poor cross
Felani pathetic again
Through ball to Sterling, but Carrick was there to prevent another chance.
Yashley wins a corner - first one for United.
Perfectly put by the BBC
Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool
Posted at 26 mins
So everyone is rubbish, in summary?
Yashley wins United's first corner, off of Henderson.
The corner from Roon is punched away by Brad Jones.
Good play from Carrick. He didn't got back because a Liverpool player was storming to De Gea... Jones or Evan would have gone back
Joe Allen booked for obstructing Valencia.
go back
Mata fails to beat the first man.... drives me nuts!!!!!!
Now United have a tasty looking free kick opportunity. Mata to swing it in - doesn't beat the first man. Poor.
Poor free kick by Mata headed away by the first man.
Professional footballer!
I am with Lee Dixon
DRIVES ME MAD
I agree with UWS about the summary from the Beeb.
Me too. I'm with Lee as well.
Valencia, surprisingly, is the most attacking out there
Phil Neville thinks Fellani should come off now before he gets a red
SAF watching and looking really concerned. A sight that Pool fans will hate to see.
THis possession from United is pathetic. Going nowhere. Then they pass it out for a throw in
I I agree with the Little Neviller. Perhaps, take him off at the half.
Oh - Moreno was in and well found by Gerrard but his touch allowed Valencia to track back.
Liverpool with chance... bad control but wide open!!
Nice pass from Stevie G to Moreno. Thankfully, a poor first touch and Valencia cleared for a corner. taken short by Stevie G and cleared by Hair Bear.
Liverpool still the better team and much more dangerous
Oh - a better cross by Lallana there and Skrtel had a free header. Over cooked.
Thankfully, a horrible cross by Lallana that was intended for Skrtel.
BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty
Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool
Posted at 32 mins
"Manchester United may be ahead but there is still room for optimism for Liverpool. Raheem Sterling's pace is causing all sorts of problems - even if his finishing isn't - and with Phil Jones already on a yellow card he will surely put further pressure on him.
"Meanwhile, in Manchester United's midfield Marouane Fellaini is having the perfect storm of terrible first touches and misplaced passes - as well as also being on a yellow card."
First mention of RVP since I tuned in. I didn't know he was playing!
A horrible United throw straight to a Pool player, then Evans is booked for a foul on Coutinho.
Evans in the book as well
Jones and Evans both in the book.... thank god for Carrick!!
Great summary by Phil. Spot on.
Lawrensen talking on Five Live... Fellani is like a school kid. He just follows the ball. He has no discipline
Oh - Twilight had to clear one off his line with a half-volley after a risky backpass.
Brad Jones gathers a cross from Valencia.
Valencia with a close the eyes and hit as hard as possible...this time it doesn't hit the defenders shins... was corralled by Jones
That was a corner
Yashley thought he won a corner off of Henderson. It should have been and that's why Yashley is furious.
I would bring on Herrera for Fellaini
GOAL! Mata ghosts in at the backpost and nods home the Dog and Duck's second goal!
Jones with a pass to Rooney there wasn't the right one!
OMG TWO NIL!!
MATA AT THE BACK POST
WE STILL SUCK!!!
YESSSSSSSSSSS MATA PUTS UNITED TWO UP. A CROSS FROM YASHLEY MAY HAVE BEEN TOUCHED BY RVP AND MATA HEADED IN AT THE FAR POST. I THINK HE WAS OFFSIDE.
That was offside by a mile if RVP got a touch
Did he?
United are lucky. The goal should have been disallowed for offside.
United perhaps a bit fortunate there, as it seemed RVP got the faintest of touches and Mata would have been in an offside position.
I think RVP headed on the cross, making Mata offside.
Liverpool still the better team but at least United are doing something
Sterling with a free header, heads straight to De Gea.
Four goals with five shots in a game and half.
Great but I WANT MORE SHOTS
Great stat from, Arlo. United have scored from of their last five shots on target.
More singing in tribute of Brendan Rogers from the Stretford End now.
Roon in the book
Definite red coming up at some point
Now Roon is booked.
I was thinking the same thing. I don't see both teams ending up with eleven men on the pitch.
Free kick to Pool.
Please don't concede now
We have had so much luck... please continue
Gerrard's cross was worse than Mata's
Poor free kick from Stevie G and cleared by the first man.
Sterling is down needing some treatment now but he's popped back up again.
Coutinho wins a corner off Jones., Sterling is down as there are two minutes of stoppage time.
Wilson heads away the corner.
Liverpool have still been the better team
Created more chances.... United are supposed to be at home
United visit Villa Park next week and then a Boxing Day match with the Toon
Paul Humphreys: How on earth are we 2-0 up!? So happy we're playing a team defending as badly as us!
Lee Dixon has no sympathy for Liverpool. Didn't expect him to.
Halftime at OT as the The Dog and Duck are two up despite being outplayed by The Red Lion.
Half time
Bloody useless!!
Two nil up and I am still not a happy camper at all!!
Me either. I was correct that we would be winning because Pool are that bad. They gifted us one goal and we were offside on the other.
Half-time - Not impressive from either side but 2-0 is 2-0 lads.
UWS is not happy with The Dog and Duck!
Baloteli warming up for at half time
Bring on Jude's Ferry
I hope the crazy one comes on gets on fire
HE DOESN'T get on fire
Did I just blow it!!
What fun - we may have a Balo sighting in the second half.
Lallana is yanked and Balo is thrown into the mix. I approve.
Balo is on for Lallana , who is a true striker that hasn't played like one.
The second half is underway
Has Wilson touched the ball today?
Balo wins an early free kick.
Lee Dixon approves of Balo's haircut - not sure I do.
Just a few times.
United on the BACK foot to start the second half
Hendo should have buried that header
another escape from United
United just going backwards all the time
Agreed. That was a great chance.
We're not good enough to pass the ball around in a dangerous area
United take their chances and Pool don't. That's the only reason we're ahead.
Now Hair Bear is down needing some treatment.
Hair Bear is down. Fletch warming up. Hair Bear seems to be okay.
Liverpool have created at least three great chances... United only one
Two nil United
Roon won a free kick. Kolo heads away the free kick from Mata
United need another shot... which means... a goal
Sounds like the Monday night match.
BLOODY HELL!!
UNITED ARE ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!
THANK YOU DE GEA
PHEW!!!! Ge Gea saved United yet again as he saved from Sterling off a horrible back pass.
Jones should be yanked off
SO BAD
Roon has a shot easily saved from Jones off a pass from RVP on the break. The first save of the match from Brad Jones.
JONES SUCKS!!
could pass a five yard ball
I was thinking about the second United goal. It guess it doesn't Mata if you're offside.
Why did he even attempt that pass . he should have cleared. I could have done better.
Boom boom, MUR! Nice one!
Terrible by RVP... who cares if he dribbled... lost the ball going the wrong way twice
I think another United goal would seal a victory.
Message to United players
Don't pass the ball to Jones
Ta, Bob. I was thinking about that one.
Wilson has a shot... wide
I am embarrassed with United
What has the world come to
A rare touch by James Wilson as he shoots high and wide.
Clumsy by Hair Bear on Joe Allen
If Liverpool score... they will score more
Balo with a free kick... straight into the wall
