Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

The Draw for the Round for the Champions League Round of Sixteen

The draw for the last sixteen of the Champions League was made earlier this morning and there were interesting draws for the three remaining Prem Clubs. Citeh face a rematch with Barca , who eliminated them at this stage last season while Chelsea face a rematch with PSG , whom they eliminated in the quarters last year while the Gunners face Monaco, which will be a reunion for Arsene. I am sure Gooner will be pleased with the draw. I expect holder , Real to Schalke their opponents while Bayern should easily dispose of Shakhtar.  Your thoughts?

Gooner will definitely be happy, as Monaco were one of the weakest sides that finished top of their group. Chelski will have a hell of a tie against Zlatan and PSG and it's almost certainly curtains for Citeh up against Barca.

Thanks for the post!

My pleasure. Chelski came from two goals down to eliminate PSG on the away goals rule in the quarters last year, so it should be. I still expect Chelski to prevail. You will be surprised to hear me say that I believe Citeh have a chance. Barca are not as good as they were a few years ago, and if Citeh are at their best in two months , then they do have a chance

Highlights for the Europa League Round of 32 draw is that there are couple of Italian draws , and basically some tricky draws for the remaining British clubs. Two of the four ties are of interest to Someone.

Celtic face a tough draw vs Inter while he will be happy that the Toffees got Swiss side Young Boys, who may not feel that way after facing the Toffees. The Spuds have a tricky tie vs Fiorentina while The Red Lion have a potential banana skin vs Besiktas, who have Demba Ba in top form. Liverpool defeated Besiktas 8-0 in a CL group match in 2007 , but will be lucky to prevail against the Turkish side this time out.

I like both Uefa draws. One more than the other. Everton have a good match against Young Boys on paper, but we know where the matches are played.

Roberto Mancini at Celtic Park could be quite interesting. Hoping Celtic show better against Inter Milan than they did against Juventus a couple of years ago.

Looking forward to one or both moving on!
