Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good morning, Bob. I am here to join you for the proceedings.
I am watchin BEIN where Derby County vs Norwich City kicks off in ten minutes.
Morning, MUR - great to have you on board. I'm here as usual with a cuppa and a bagel at my side.
I'm watching the chatter on NBC Sports Network. Right now they're discussing whether Lamps will join New York FC or stay at Citeh for the remainder of the season.
I am back from takin' Elizabeth shopping . About a dozen minutes in and still 0-0 between the Rams and the Canaries.
Good morin' , Bob. I am watchin' on BEIN. That is an interesting question about Lamps. Initially, I thought he would go.
The team news out of the Etihad this morning:
Manchester City: Hart, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Mangala, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Navas, Yaya Touré, Silva, Nasri, Milner. Subs: Caballero, Boyata, Sagna, Fernando, Lampard, Ambrose, Sinclair.
Crystal Palace: Speroni, Kelly, Dann, Hangeland, Ward, Puncheon, Jedinak, Ledley, McArthur, Bolasie, Campbell. Subs: Hennessey, Mariappa, Delaney, Bannan, Thomas, Gayle, Zaha.
Referee: P Dowd
Welcome back, mate. Interesting goings on at the Etihad. With no fit strikers around the place these days, Manuel Pellegrini is going with James Milner as a false #9 today.
Thanks for postin' the lineups. Citeh are goin without a recognized strikers vs Warnock's mugs at home . Are Jovetic and Jerko crocked? They're not even in the squad.
Ta, Bob. You just answered my question, Mr. Dilfer. Didn't Milner learn to be false at the LUFC Academy, LOL?
17 year old City Academy prospect Thierry Ambrose on the bench today.
I have both BEIN and NBCSN on at the same time, using the PIP option.
A rare appearance on the Citeh bench for Trevor Sinclair. Surely, he's there just for the money as he could get regular footie elsewhere.
LOL - no, he always played out wide for LUFC, but then we always had plenty of strikers about at that time in Viduka, Smith, Fowler, Keane and so on.
You're giving UWS a run for his NocitoSportscenter money this morning, mate.
Teams in the tunnel now. I love a bit of tunnel action. Kate really enjoys seeing the ballboys, as she's crazy about little kids.
Credit to both teams for attempting to play the right way, but neither team has really tested the keeper.
Ta, mate, but mine is strictly for footie. If UWS got BEIN then he could watch a lot of rugger
That is true - UWS has no compunction when it comes to watching the likes of cricket, rugger, darts and even motocross.
Well spotted by Kate. She is quickly becoming a footie expert.
Motocross? I thought Shadow would keep him busy enough to not have to go to those depths.
Great back from Russell Martin from Liverpool loanee Jordan Ibe. The best chance of the match
Pre match lovee dovee between Manuel and Warnie.
They're off from the Etihad.,
And we're away at the Etihad. Teams chasing "the 12 points of Christmas."
Early Palace free kick is knocked out for an early Palace corner. Hangeland is the obvious target.
An early Palace free kick is headed out for a corner by Di Michelis.
The corner by Puncheon is punched away by Hart,
The commentator is giving you a run for your money with the early puns - "punching away from Puncheon." How will you respond to the challenge, mate?
Citeh still have plenty of scoring threats, even without recognized strikers.
jUST WIDE BY nASRI off pass from Zaba after a great run and pass by Navas
GOAL !!! THE CANARIES TAKE THE LEAD AT PRIDE PARK IN CONTROVERSIAL FASHION.
Plenty of early enterprise from Palace.
Why controversial, mate?
No. It is disallowed for offside. A superb run and finish by Alexander Tettey, but Cameron Jerome , who was offside, stupidly got in the way and deflected the effort in when he should have got out of the way. Bob will not be surprised.
It was disallowed , so not controversial. Sorry about the mis-information.
Things are starting to open up at Pride Park after a slow start
Citeh struggled to defeat Palace at the Etihad at this time last season as they needed a late goal to win 1-0. are we looking at a similar match today?
Zaba wins a corner off of Ward.
Kolorov shoots wide off a poor corner from Navas.
Not surprised that Cam Jerome scuppered that chance.
Aguero and Jerko are watching from the stands.
Me either. We've seen him fluff his lines plenty of times in the Prem.
Palace have set up to frustrate Citeh and are battling hard for the ball. Citeh will have to dig this one out if they're to keep up the challenge on Chelski today.
Did you see that I had typed that they did the same last season, albeit with Pubis?
Yeah - I saw that, but this is not a Tony Pulis side. They don't have a lot of quality but they're not just parking the bus.
Scott Dann gives up a soft foul against Milner, which will set up a decent free kick chance now.
Short training pitch routine didn't quite come off - Nasri with the final shot.
Just wide by NAsri off a training ground routine from a short free kick
Bob Dilfer will be interested to note that Bradley Johnson nearly gave the Canaries the lead with a shot from 25 yards out that was inches over.
Oh - Bolassie did well but Hart tipped it away from danger - just.
That's a Bradley special.
Then seconds after that the Rams take the lead. A long goal kick the Canaries were sliced apart as a long goal kick from Lee Grant was headed on to Chris Martin down the right and his pass was slotted in the corner by Johnny Russell.
DiMichelis is having a torrid time with Bolassie.
That will keep Derby's challenge for the top alive.
Unfortunately, the Rams scored literally seconds after the Bradley Special.
Halftime at Pride Park and 1-0 to the Rams thanks to that late goal seconds after the near miss by Bradley Johnson. Also the Canaries had a goal disallowed for BEIN stupidly offside.
Palace really giving it a go right now. Free kick chance for Puncheon. Oh - Frazier Campbell had a chance there but he tried the spectacular.
Nice one, mate! Boom boom! You're back in business.
Just wide by former United trainee, Frazier Campbell off a header from Jedinak.
Ta, mate. I hope United steal a victory at Villa Park today.
Another free kick to Palace.
Yaya heads away then clears the free kick from Jedinak.
Oh - decent move there for Citeh ends with Yaya with an effort that's high of the mark.
Great one touch pass by Citeh , but well over by Yaya.
I'm almost sure that they will. I don't rate Villa at all.
Sorry that Forest vs Leeds is on tape delay today.
Oh - Silva should have scored there, deflected out for a corner.
Silva has a shot delflected out for a corner.
No worries - I may well watch it on tape delay with you, mate.
The corner from Navas was headed out.
I will have to record it because I will be at the in-laws.
You deserve a BOOM BOOM for the 12 points of Christmas. Why is it only the nine points of Christmas for the Championship? Lazy buggers!
Silva should have done better again there - not as sharp has usual. Hit his standing foot.
Yaya shot over from close range as Palace are started to be torn apart. They're hanging on.
Oh - another great move from Citeh ends with Yaya blasting over. Will they rue these missed chances?
Another chance for Palace as Puncheon played a superb through ball fro Frazier Campbell , who rounded Hart then a goal kick was given , but the ball appeared to be in play.
Palace even have the likes of Puncheon tracking back - impressive.
Why the nine points of Christmas , but the twelve points of Christmas for the Prem?
Half an hour gone and Evil Neil will be the happier of the two managers with the proceedings.
puncheon did the same once Pubis took over. His contribution is really underrated.
He should be delighted.
Jose will be pleased as his team will play at the Brittania on Monday.
Bolassie is a useful outlet for Palace - wins a vital free kick there. Ticks the time off the board.
I'll be at the in-laws on Monday but I'll do my best to be around.
Navas concedes a free kick. Bolassie whips it in , Campbell heads sideways and Zaba needlessly concedes a corner.
The corner from Bolassie is out for another. I thought Hangelaand headed wide.
A horrible corner from Bolassie is cleared by the first man.. He's better than that.
A timely clearance by Scott Dann of a teasing pass by Milner.
The second half just kicked off from Pride Park.
Kolorov is booked for a foul on Puncheon. Definite obstruction.
Oh - another chance for Bolassie there - into the side netting.
Bolassie shot into the side netting as Hangelaand off a long free kick.
It's all gone really quiet at the Etihad, apart from the traveling Palace support.
They're shouting " you're only here to watch Palace." Well done Palace fans.
GOAL !!! THE CANARIES TIE IT UP AS CAMERON JEROME SCORES WITH A FAR POST FINISH OFF A PASS FROM JOHNNY HOWSON.IT STARTED BECAUSE THE RAMS WERE TRYING TO BE TOO FANCY AT THE BACK AND GARY HOIOPER WON THE BALL. HE PASSED TO GARYO'NEILL, WHO FOUND STEVEN WHITTAKER DOWN THE RIGHT. PING PONG ACTION OFF HIS PASS FOUND HOWSON, WHO FOUND JEROME UNMARKED AND ONSIDE AT THE FAR POST.
Oh - Zaba has missed the best chance of the half for Citeh. Again it was tiki taka footie from Citeh.
PENALTY TO THE RAMS.CHRIS MARTIN TO TAKE.
GOAL THE RAMS NOW LEAD 2-1 AS MARTIN BLASTED IN A GREAT PENALTY, SENDING JOHN RUDDY THE WRONG WAY.
Sounds like the Leeds connection is working for Norwich today.
It was a clumsy foul by Carlos Cuellar on Chris Mrtin on the edge of the box. I thought it looked kind of soft , but I've seen those given and now the Canaries have it all to do again.
That's half-time then. Palace have worked their socks off and go in 0-0 deservedly.
It's 0-0 at the half at the Etihad as it was in this fixture last season.
Did you see the update from Pride Park?
The first change for the Canaries as Tettey is off and replaced by Nathan Redmond.
A shot from Bradley Johnson that was heading well wide was nearly deflected in by Cameron Jerome. Wes Hoolihan is on for Gary Hooper.
The final roll of the dice from Neil Adams as Lewis Grabban is on for Gary O'Neill . I hope he's gonna be Grabban a goal or two for the Canaries.
The second half is underway at the Etihad.
A Citeh cross is defelected for a corner.
Taken short by Nasri to Silva
Navas shoots straight at Speroni from a narrow angle off a pass from Nasri.
I'm just back for the second half and catching up with your comments. Sounds as if Norwich are up against it now at Pride Park.
Scott Dann blocks an effort from Silva off a pass from Navas.
GOAL! Citeh finally break through - and it's Silva (albeit deflected) with the effort.
GOAL !!! SILA GIVES CITEH THE LEAD WITH A DELFLECTED EFFORT.
It was Zaba again with the devastating run and then a blind pull back to Silva who finished.
1-0 Citeh!
Palace will feel hard done by.
Nice slide rule pass from Fernandinho to Zaba , who did well to cut back the pass for Silva whose shot took a wicked deflection off of Scott Dann.
Yaya blasts halfway to the Pennines off a pass from Silva.
The announcer said that the goal was Citeh's first shot on target this match.
Milner has a shot come off of Scott Dann's head for a corner.
Yaya has a header blocked as Di Michelis flicked on the corner from Nasri.
Lamps warming up now.
I'm not surprised - they've had loads of chances but none on target.
Both matches going through a lull.
Navas wins a corner after his inital pass was nearly put away.
Citeh keep possession off the corner.
GOAL !!! SILVA SCORES HIS AND CITEH'S SECOND.
GOAL! Great move there by Citeh ending with a sharp finish by Silva!
2-0!
The ball was played out to the left to Kolorov and his pass was put away by Silva.
Citeh are level with Chelski on points now, albeit with a three goal deficit.
Hey boys
I am just back from walkies... already showered and shaved!
I walked in the house as the second goal went in. I was listening to the commentary on talksport during the walk
first of 16 days with nothing to do!
GOAL !!! STEVEN WHITAKER MAKES IT DESMOND LATE AT PRIDE PARK.
Now into stoppage time at Pride PArk.
Evil Neil is rolling the dice with Dwight Gayle coming on.
Morning, UWS - happy winter break to you!
Russell Martin headed on a corner that was superbly volleyed in by whittaker.
Cameron Jerome shoots over from close range.,
Good morning UWS. Great to have you on board. Congratulations on a well earned vacation.
And Zaha is coming on for Frazier Campbell.
Ball in the City net but called back for offside
HE WASN'T
It's over at Pride Park as it finishes Desmond in a great contest. The Canaries tied it up late with a great volley by Steven Whittaker.
Oh - MacArthur has the ball in the net but it's ruled out for offside. The replay shows that he was on and the ref got that one wrong.
News out of Villa Park that Falcao is going to make the start
One former United reject for another.
Lamps on for Silva , who will not be able to get a hat-trick, but gets a well deserved standing ovation.
That's a turn up - didn't expect that.
More news from the OT club
Carrick has taken over as vice captain taking over from Darren Fletcher
OUCH!! It will be harder for United to steal a victory if he starts.
Now that is good news. Well deserved by Carrick as Fletch rarely plays.
Norwich have invited Desmond in to Pride Park in the 90th minute
Falcao has to come good... he's worth millions
That one is over and did finish Desmond.
Horrible corner from Kolorov that is shot wide by Yaya.
If Falcao flops then we can send him back to Monte Carlo and the casino life at the end of the season.
You guys didn't hear but little old Schenectady was chosen as a new sight for a casino! It will be on the sight of the old ALCO factory plot.
Schenectady used to be so important... all the GE stuff came from here and the all the locomotives were made here too.... not look at it!!
I hate that the linesman got that decision wrong... not just because it would have opened this game up but because we will now have to listen to bloody Warnock whine about it
Really? Is it an Indian casino?
And the goal from MacArthur would have opened up the game again.
I'm sure you're not pleased about it. I have never wanted to live near a casino. Sadly , Schenectady has faced the same problems as northern industrial towns now that a lot of those jobs have gone abroad. Sorry to hear about it.
The other United change from the last match is Fletcher replaces Fellaini
Aston Villa XI: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Okore, Clark, Cissokho, Sanchez, Delph, Weimann, Agbonlahor, Benteke.
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Jones, Carrick, Evans, Valencia, Fletcher, Mata, Rooney, Young, Van Persie, Falcao.
At first I was thinking that, but I don't think so if it took over from a factory. I will defer to UWS for that
No it isn't ... I don't' think
We're not on a reservation
GOAL! Toure wraps it up with a stonking run and finish.
3-0!
GOAL !!!! 3-0 CITEH YAYA SCORES WITH A NEAR POST ROCKET ON THE BREAK.
Three nil.. Yaya with a decent finish
One more goal for Top Spot?
Lamps did well to win a pass then passed to Navas who led a break . He found Milner who passed to Yaya to score.
If Chelski lose at the Brittania on Monday then Citeh move top and I move well up the PPP table.
THe factory is not there any more but it used to be huge and made all the locomotives for the country.
GE was so big here too. Erie Blvd that leads to the main GE building was at one time the most lit street in the world!
Now I have to deal with the little darling... running the school
Thomas , the former Arsenal trainee, on for Puncheon./
Sorry to hear about Schenectady. Your school story sounds like ours while the prinicipal at our neighboring school has been suspended for three weeks and counting for multiple Bill Clintons. That's multiple no nos in our profession.
I'm not sure why Fletch is replacing the Hair Bear. Squad rotation by LVG.
Yikes
It's a shame that towns have to resort to casinos for revenue.
I agree. Fellaini has not been that good after a couple of good games
I would have brought in Herrerra
Don't you lot have a Mohawk reservation nearby?
High and wide by Joe Ward a Nasri is off and replaced by Scott Sinclair , making a rare appearance for Citeh. His first prem appearance since April 2013.
Into stoppage time now.
Barry Bloody Bannon on for Joe Ledley. Three minutes of stoppage time.
I agree, UWS. Casinos are really tacky and detract from a town.
Oh - nearly an o.g. as a consolation goal there for Palace.
A cross from Zaha is nearly put in for an OG by Di Michelis.
Palace have been good today - a 3-0 deficit doesn't really do them justice.
Bolassie has a shot blocked off the corner from Bannon then is over with a spectacular bicycle kick.
Danny Mills is completely wrong. Palace scored one and had several big chances in the first half to score others. 3-2 would have been a more accurate scoreline.
Off to the post office to mail a birthday package for my sister in law Melanie.
It's over as Citeh win 3-0. I agree , Bob, that the scoreline flatters Citeh and Palace had a perfectly good goal disallowed.
As for the casino... it would bring some jobs and business to the city
Long may it continue
Man Utd are unbeaten in their last 18 league matches at Villa Park winning 12 and drawing 6
1995-96 was the last time we lost. That was the 3-1 loss on the opening day of the season where Alan Hansen said the immortal words... You can't win anything with kids!
United won the double!
United's team on that day included Beckham, Scholes, Butt and the Neville brothers
Could DiM play with RVP, Roon, Mata and Falcao?
I hope Falcao gets some goals today and shows how he can play... he has seemed really slow.. ala RVP
I have a SS link going
The links off of First Row has so many pop up windows!!
The Wizwig links seem to be delayed in time
Will the Two Davids be in 7th Heaven in a couple of hours!!!
I'm back for the match.
U-N-I-T-E-D
United are the team for me...
The starting line-ups at Villa Park:
Villa - Guzan, Lowton, Okore, Vlaar, Clark, Cissokho, Weimann, Delph, Sanchez, Benteke, Agbon
United - Twilight, Jones, Carrick, Evans, Valencia, Fletch, Roon, Yashley, Mata, RVP, Falcao
I want a win BUT I want United to be the best team on the pitch
I want United to play with some QUALITY!!!!
Gave the line ups ages ago Dahlgren!!
We're off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
They're off from Villa Park.
COME ON YOU UNITED!
STEAL VICTORY!
