And Now for Something Completely Different....
Morning, chaps! Now that we've sorted out who is and isn't going to be in France next summer, we can concentrate full-time on the domestic game. And what a match to welcome the Premiership back with. It's Jurgen Klopp's first match in change at Liverpool against fellow wannabe club Spurs.
At 10am EST, we've got Everton v. ManYoo and then we wrap up with the late one between Watford and Arsenal. Join me for all the usual LOB chatter.

Sad news out of Merseyside this morning that former Everton legend Howard Kendall has died at age 69. He'll be missed.
Good morning , Bob. Great to join you for the return of the Prem. Sad to hear about Howard Kendall. I had great respect for him.
The Klopp era starts at SFL . He does well by mocking Jose and calling himself the normal one. Great form. His teams have a reputation for being easy on the eye.
Teams in the tunnel at Shite Fart:
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dembele, Alli, Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli, Kane.
Subs: Vorm, N’Jie, Trippier, Townsend, Wimmer, Winks, Davies.
Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Lucas, Milner, Coutinho, Lallana, Origi.
Subs: Bogdan, Toure, Allen, Ibe, Randall, Sinclair, Teixeira.
Referee: Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire)
It's a symphony as the teams head out of the tunnel and on to the SFL pitch.
Morning, MUR - hope you had a good night's sleep - it's likely to be a dramatic morning.
It's a first Liverpool start for Origi and Can will dance in midfield , which was his usual position when he played in the Bundesliga.
Cheers. It was a decent night's sleep, but I could have used a little more. How about you?
They're off from SFL.
It will be Klopp at the KOP. If he gets off to a poor start it will be Klopp for the chop. Will Klopp's team make chop suey out of the Spuds?
Sturridge is out injured AGAIN, which partly explains why Origi is starting. Klopp tried to sign him while in charge of Dortmund.
Lallana wins a corner off of Alderweireld after Origi won a tackle off ap pass from Milner.
Skrtel heads on the corner from Coutionho to Can , who heads straight to Lloris/.
I reckon that spuds wouldn't be very good in a chop sued. I don't know the Belgian striker Origi at all; it'll be interesting to get a look at him and some of the youngsters that Klopp has elevated from the youth set-up onto the bench today.
Lallana wins Pool another corner.
Kane heads away the corner from Coutinho.
Lots of intensity from Liverpool but the passing isn't incisive enough yet.
Nsughty by Milner on Chadli
I disagree. Klopp says that mixture will allow them to go plopp on SFL.
I think that's Klopp's style . Pool players will be required to do more running because it seems that Klopp like to play the high press.
Lallana wins a corner off of Rose.
Oh - off the bar from Origi! Should have scored, but he didn't get his header down enough. But promising for Pool.
OH!!!! nearly the lead for Pool as Origi headed the corner from Milner off the bar from a headed pass by Lallana. It should should have been the l;ead as it was a free header from close range
I understand the need for intensity but it seems as if Pool players have been getting in each other's way several times, as they struggle to impress the new gaffer.
Jie oh Jie. N'Jie is on for the injured Chadli
It may be due to the fact that he just took over and the players have been away on international duty. He's probably only had a couple of training sessions with them.
Chadli has a problem and is having to come off. He's replaced by Njie.
There was a match in the Championship yesterday as Bristol City surprisingly defeated Forest 2-0, which moved them put of the drop zone.
Can was signed from Bayer Leverkusen . Playing out of position under Brendan Rodgers was a tough pill to swallow.
BOOM BOOM!
Great block there from Delle Ally, as Origi was loitering in the box waiting for the killer pass.
So, what is Can's proper position?
Some bad news from your point view because the Evil Owls have taken the lead vs the Tigers.
It is central midfield. Brendan played him at right back! quite a difference.
Lallana heads away a free kick from Lallana.
My car , like Sturridge, is out in the shop being repaired. My money is on a quicker recovery for the car.
Kane just doesn't seem as sharp this season. That was a decent ball in from Erikssen but he couldn't connect with it at the far post.
Sorry to hear that, mate. I certainly hope it's not like Sturbridge. The man seems to be made of fine crystal. I wouldn't count on him being fit for the Euros next summer.
Ta, Bob. It's supposed to be ready around halftime of the late match. I agree with you about Danny Boy. I could use a loan from FSG for the repairs.
After being knocked back on their heels early doors, the home side are finally starting to put some possession together.
I agree with you about Harry Kane . He's been caught offside more often than the London Tubes.
I agree. I think it was a similar pattern in their 4-1 win vs Citeh.
I'm genuinely surprised that Liverpool were able to snag Klopp. It seems like a step down for him from a club that regularly participates in the Champions League to a club that rarely does.
Jie oh Jie. A promising S[uds move ends up with a poor pass from N'Jie.
Boom, boom, mate - nice analogy.
Pool is a big club and I think he feels he can have them back where they were many years ago. Only time will tell.
Cheers mate.
I see that your Whites have a tough match at ER vs the high flying Seagulls. What do you think of their chances?
Minnie does well to prevent a Spuds corner after a cross from Rose deflected off of Clyne.
Great save from Mignolet from Njie there.
Jie oh Jie. what save by Minnie from N'Jieas Pool coughed up possession and nearly paid the price.
Leif eriksen has a corner headed away by the first man for another.
he next one is not any better and is easily cleared.
It’s descended into a scrappy nonsense, this. Though Pochettino and Klopp will both be satisfied with the relentless manner in which their teams are going about their business.
Pool have looked more like bangors and mash the last few minutes against the Spuds.
Origi was in there but Lloris was quick off the line to clear.
I'm not sure about Klopp. His Dortmund teams were far more entertaining and I wonder if hell be looking for more of the same from the Reds, especially in front of the KOP.
Eriksen has a shot deflected for a cornmer after Alli won a tackle off of Sakho.
Vertonghen heads to a fan in Row M off the corner from Lamella.
I agree; it's all well and good working hard but if the end product doesn't have a lot of quality, it's a bit pointless. I don't think Liverpool have enough quality in their squad to truly challenge the likes of United, City and Arsenal.
Rose clears from Origi for a Pool corner. Kane blocks a header from the corner by Milner and the Spuds are now on the atttack
Not a Big club are one up at the half vs the Tigers . Sorry mate.
First yellow card of the match to Milner, who was walking a tightrope.
I don't think Pool are ready to challenge for the title , but should be at least fourth or fifth. [perhaps FSG will provide funds for him to rebuild.
That's alright, mate. They're a small club and will always be that way.
Kane has a shot blocked then Alli has one blocked by Sakho as the Pool defense has been walking a tightrope of their own.
Hi Boys
sorry for the late start here
Taking care of the missus, she had an outpatient procedure on her leg.
Everything went fine but I'm being a good hubby
Two big chances for Spurs through Kane and Ally. Foiled by Mignolet and Sakho.
Great block by Miinie from Kane.
Morning, UWS. Hope that Kathy is resting well this morning. Give her my best.
Good morning UWS. I hope Kathy has a speedy recovery. Glad you can join us.
A horrible corner from eriksen is cleared for another. the next one is horrible and also cleared.
Sad news about Howard Kendall
Naughty by walker on Coutinho.
Yes it is. He seemed to have many years ahead of him. I always respected him.
Yeah - 69 isn't much of an innings.
Will Liverpool take the Europa League more seriously with Jurgen in charge?
Jie OH Jie. N'Jie caught Skrtel napping and shot inches over from just outside the box.
I thought the same Bob
Agreed, Bob. I'm not sure about the EL. He may use it as a chance to see which fringe members of the squad he wants to keep.
I hope there isn't a Kendall Affect at Goodison today!
Coutinho has a long range effort straight to Lloris off a blocked shot from Can.
I second that emotion. That's the last thing we need.
The final ball just isn't clicking for Liverpool - where is the quality?
Skrtel clears a pass from Alli for a SPuds corner.
Dembeli shoots high and wide off a short corner.
Two minutes of stoppage time.

Kate has just caught sight of Jurgen Klopp for the first time and has asked me who he is. She reckons that he's too young for the job.
Thanks for the link, mate!
Walker is there in the nick of time to clear a pass from Origi.
Those annoying boxes do close
Not the one in the yellow but the left x and then the right one
I think he's older than Brendan. I guess he takes good care of himself.
HT at WHL
Nil Nil
It's 0-0 at the end of a competitive half at SFL. This one could go either way in the second half.
How about the baseball.
Let's go Mets go
I actually wouldn't mind the Cubs either
Of course, they won the WS in Back To the Future 2 in 2015!!
I always wanted to place a bet down on them!
They could play the KC Royals... who won the WS in 1985... the year of Back to the Future 1
I'm off to the store for Kathy
I'll be back
Don't forget to have another go at the trivia during half-time.
Bob will be pleased to hear that the Tigers have tied it up at Hillborough
Cheers UWS. Hope to hear from you soon.
Wahay!
Let's hope for better in this second half. Not nearly enough quality for the punters in the first.
I agree. It seems to have started off the same the first half ended. This one may come down to the substitutions.
Skrtel is called for a foul off a Spuds throw. Definite pull back on Kane.
Mignolet gathers the free kick from Eriksen as nobody made the vital connection.
Dell Alli is called for a trip om Can . He CAN Not do that.
The free kick from Coutinho is cleared/
It hasn't gotten a lot better - this one smells like a 0-0 draw.
Celtic are one up at Motherwell in the second half.
You may be right or there may be a late winner . Time for some more coffee?
Origi hasn't impressed me at all; he's second rate. Liverpool of old would never had the likes of Sakho, Lucas, Can and Origi in their ranks.
Walker straight at Minnie.
I agree. Klopp will need to be given funds to rebuild this team.
Klopp may do some scouting during the EL match on Thursday. I herd he's interested in signing Ruben Kazan.
Lamela is booked for a barge on Moreno. Some Argy bargy there.
He certainly needs to do some business in the January window.
Dembele tackles Coutinho for a pool corner.
Rubbish corner from Coutinho - he's been poor today.
Rose heads away the corner from Coutinho.
I agree, but I guess Ruben won't be playing for Klopp in front of the KOP.
I agree with you about Coutinho. I guess the main standouts have been the holding middies.
It’s not happening for Liverpool up front right now. Those first 15-20 minutes seem an awful long time ago.
The Real Dons take an early lead vs Morecambe and Wise.
Agreed. It seems like an eternity.
I heard it's supposed to be a tad chilly down Fred Town way this weekend. We could use some of that.
Both sides need some dynamic changes right about now.
Yes - we've had our first blast of winter this week, with a wintry mix of hail and sleet the other night and very chilly temps near freezing this weekend.
Boris Becker is in attendance at SFL. I don't think he's impressed. He loos bored.
Yikes. sounds like some hot cocoa would come in handy. Our highs are still near 90 and a tad muggy.
Morecambe and wise tie it up at the Real Dons . We should be watching that one.
Harry Kane runs about down a blind alley and then attempts a shot from distance that merely cannons into his marker's leg.
Kyle Walker is down injured. Kieran Trippier , the recent signing from Burnley, is warming up for what could be Prem debut for him in PSuds colors.
That's a perfect description of Harry.
Welcome back. You didn't miss anything.
Morecambe and Wise have come from behind to lead 1-2 at the Real Dons with less than a quarter of an hour played. We should have watched that match.
Harry Kane wins a corner for the Spuds.
Leeds taking on top of the table Brighton today... tough match
Kane is working hard and he's won a corner.
Yeah - we're not getting any breaks with the schedule right now.
Sakho heads out the corner from Lamela then walker shoots a long range effort high and wide.
SS talking about Koemann and the Dutch job
How do you finish third in the World but then Fourth in your qualifying group!!!
Then Leeds have a trip to the Cottage on Wednesday. I'm sure will be delighted to be hosting them.
I agree. I had a tough time figuring out that one. Koeman would probably do well to stay at St. Mary's
Celtic have won 0-1 at Motherwell. Not convincing , but I guess they all count.
A tad nippy in ENY?
I guess Klopp is content with a draw as Wee Joe Allen is about to come in.
He's on for Lallana to verify my point, which is what both teams will get in just over ten minutes.
Liverpool lost two players this week for the season with ACL injuries. I was listening to Five Live and they said that the last 8 ACL injuries are players wearing Nike boots. A coincidence?
Did you listen the Forest podcast I told you about?
WOW!! I didn't realize Nike produced faulty footwear
Oh - Kane denied by Mignolet again!
Jose makes five changes for the bottom of the table battle at the Bridge
Reporter asks if he could tell the reasons for the change.. he says NO I CANNOT.... what a numpty
Sorry. I did not. I had a really busy week.
Come on Villa
I did, mate - I wanted to post it on the LOB but didn't have the time.
Still waiting for you to try out the trivia question from Thursday - MUR gave it a go!
I agree with you about Jose. He's had a meltdown, a sign that he's feeling the pressure. He's about to follow Dick and Brendan on gardening leave.
It’s all scrappy passes and scrappy fouls. Neither team seem capable of stringing anything together right now.
I will try to come up with more answers, but I had a tough enough time producing what I did.
Finally a change - in the 86th minute!
Jordan Ibe on for Coutinho. About twenty minutes late on that change,
Jordan Ibe to come on - more indication that Liverpool don't have the quality in their squad.
Andros on for Lamela.
England playing Pakistan in ABU DHABI!
Pakistan scored 523 for 8 dec
England scored 598 all out... certain draw?
No, today the Paki's bowled out for 173.
England need 99 runs to win... 48 for 3 in fading light
Wonder what the odds were for the game not ending in a draw
All sports covered at Nocito Sportscenter
It finishes 1-1 between Not a Big Club and Brucey's Tigers.
A great innings worth of coverage.
Just wide from Can
OH . A decent long range effort from Can is just wide as Jordan Ibe did well to find him.
Nearly into stoppage time now. This was not the match I was hoping for to reintroduce us to the Premier League. We deserved better for waking up early.
Lucas booked for a trip on Kane Three minutes of stoppage time.
I agree. I was expecting better too.
I didn't know it was this bad for Our Bob's lot
A draw maybe?
From the Beeb
Record to go at Elland Road?
Championship ready to rumble
The Championship also swings back into action today, with leaders Brighton going to Elland Road to face Leeds.
And something looks likely to give with Brighton yet to lose away and Leeds winless at home.
Della Alli fouls Milner inches outside the box. A late winner on the cards?
What a waste of a free kick by the Pool... bloody modern day footballers
A horrible free kick from Mopreno is whacked into the wall.
And Leeds have only scored three times at ER all season.
All over at the Lane
Two results both teams probably didn't want
That's it - a disappointing 0-0 start for Jurgen Klopp. He'll have to do better.
A real dud finishes 0-0 at SFL. A poor start on the return of Prem footie.
England are 66 for 4... they're blowing it
I'm off for walkies in nippy ENY
I'll be back after kick offs
Bummer... bad light stops play
England 25 runs away from winning
Cheers mate. Stay warm as United hopefully stop a run of three consecutive defeats at Goodison.
The Toffees vs United is on NBCSN while Chelsea vs Villa.is on Born in the USA. Any guesses as to which one I will be watching?
They're off from Goodison.
COME ON UNITED!
I'm back for the biggie. Here are teams at Goodison:
Everton: Howard, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Galloway, McCarthy, Barry, Lennon, Barkley, Naismith, Lukaku.
Subs: Robles, Kone, Mirallas, Deulofeu, Osman, Funes Mori, Browning.
Man Utd: De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Mata, Ander Herrera, Martial, Rooney.
Subs: Depay, Carrick, Blind, Fellaini, Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Johnstone.
Referee: Jon Moss (W Yorkshire)
Morecambe and Wise are 1-3 up at the Real Dons at the half.
Galloway fouls Herrera just outside the box.
Jags heads out the free kick from Mata then a headed pass by the Pig Stick intended for Schneiderlin goes harmlessly out.
Bradford City take the lead at Donny in an all Yorkshire tussle.
The first Prem goal of the day as Sterling gives Citeh the lead vs the Cherries.
Brentford take the lead vs Rotherham
Wigan take the lead vs Colchester as do Chesterfield at table topping Walsall.
Trannie take the lead at table topping Forest Green.
Schenidelrin is called for a foul on NAismith. There didn't seem much in that. Great chance for the Toffees
The free kick from the Chunk took a weird deflection off of the pig Stick for a corner.
Bob will be pleased that Oldham have taken the lead vs The Evil Blades.
Boni has put Citeh two up vs the Cherries.
wigan go two up vs Colchester.
Timmy tips over a long range effort from Herrera.
Crikey - Citeh are already 2-0 over Bournemouth. Sterling and Bony on the scoresheet early on.
