Wahay! It's Premiership Footie Time!
It's been an extra long week for us in the East, with the first week of the semester corresponding with the onset of real winter weather. Fortunately - if the power stays on - we can relax in front of some quality Premiership stuff this morning. First up - Liverpool traveling to Carrow Road. Then the 10am EST fixtures, including United entertaining The Saints. Then finally Citeh traveling to meet the Hammers in the late one. Join me for all the LOB banter this morning, eh?

0-3, 0-5, 2-3. Liverpool have enjoyed their recent visits to Carrow Road. Or, to put it another way, a certain Uruguayan superstar did. Of those eleven goals, Luis Suarez scored seven. No Luis, no party?
Norwich have improved recently, in that they're harder to beat than they were in the late fall. And they have new £12 million signing Stephen Naismith on board now.
Good morning, Bob. I'm here to join you for all the usual banter
JFH's lads have taken an early lead vs Wolves
Morning, MUR - great to have you on board this morning. I've just returned with a strong cuppa. Hope the footer will be as stimulating.
Great info about the new Canaries striker. It turns out the and the gaffer are all too familiar with each other as shown by a picture of him and Alex Neill in a match between Rangers and Hamilton in 2011.
Cheers mate. I have done the same. Great minds think alike.
A must win match vs Bristol City at ER today.
Teams in the tunnel coming out now:
Norwich City: Rudd, Ivo Pinto, Martin, Bassong, Brady, Howson, Hoolahan, Dorrans, Redmond, Naismith, Mbokani.
Subs: Ruddy, Jerome, Jarvis, Klose, Mulumbu, Olsson, Odjidja-Ofoe.
Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Lucas, Henderson, Milner, Firmino, Ibe.
Subs: Benteke, Caulker, Lallana, Allen, Flanagan, Ward, Teixeira.
Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire).
The teams are in the tunnel and referee Lee Mason could pass as Alex Neill's brother.
I'd be happy to hold Bristols today. That's not a prediction, just a bit of gossip.... ;-)
Local boy , Declan Rudd, from Diss , continues to start as the Canaries keeper. Do you remember that town?
Not a political statement mate?
A cracking atmosphere as always at Carrow Road. A crisp, cold afternoon. It’s a pleasant aesthetic experience as well, because both teams play in their first-choice colours: Norwich in their yellow and green, Liverpool in red. Hands to be shaken, coins tossed, songs sung. We’ll be off in a minute or two!
Bobby Firm starts as the lone Pool striker while the 51 million pound man is on the bench
Not surprisingly, Benteke starts on the bench. He was apparently woeful against lowly Exeter in the Cup in midweek, with loads of Scousers calling to complain on Five Live.
They're off from CR
And we're off from our old stomping grounds in East Anglia.
He had a real mare against the League 2 defense , who have probably faced trickier strikers in their L2 matches. The inexperienced youngsters had a better match than Beneteke.
Agreed. I have fond memories watching matches at CR. As well as the town from which Canaries keeper Declan Rudd hails.
Still, I'm not sure about the Bobby Firmino lone striker mode for Liverpool. How bloody long is Danny Sturridge going to malinger on the bench?
I think he's still injured. He was watching the Cup tie from the director's box with some lady friend.
I have a riddle for you. What food was Klopp after the match vs United?
Naismith "introduces" himself with a crunching tackle. He literally sees red and he kicks out after his Everton experience.
I dunno. He couldn't have been happy. Turkey?
A tad naughty by Naismith on Lucas. Not a card to match his jersey.
It’s a scrappy start, this. The ball bouncing around this way and that. Three passes in a row seems a pipe dream right now. Norwich enjoying slightly more of the possession, though, and a little territorial advantage too.
How about a sour kraut?
That's par for the course for a Prem fixture. The entertainment value will increase as the match settles.
Based on that Naismith challenge, it's clear that you can get away with XXX tackles as long as you do them within the first ten minutes of a match.
Oh - nice one, mate. Boom boom!
Absolutely. That may explain why Prem teams struggle in European competitions.
Looks like the seats set aside for the players have "Best Fiends" stenciled on them. What gives?
Cheers mate. I've been looking to use that one.
OH!!! a chance for the Canaries, but the final ball from Hoolihan was off.
I've noticed that. Not like the good old days.
Naughty by Lucas on Naismith. Revenge?
Hey Boys
I'm still upstairs on my phone
Bob, do you have snow?
We got 2 feet of PARTLY CLOUDY!!
We're going to get not a sausage bugger all from Jonas
Good morning, UWS. I guess you're not pleased with the Jonas Brothers. Not a flake of snow here. Been sunny the past week.
Morning, UWS - not a lot here. It's been snowing a bit every day this week, so we've got probably a foot in total.
It sounds like the pools panel will need to be in action for the local leagues in your areas.
It's stunning. We've had on measurable amt of snow and that was only and inch
Bassong clears for a corner as he misjudged a through ball./
Bassong nearly made a mess of that clearance with Firmino bearing down on him.
Sounds like you escaped the brunt of the Jonas brothers. I think the worst was between DC and the Big Apple.
One not on
Pool take the lead
GOAL !!! BOBBY FIRM GIVES POOL THE LEAD WITH SHOT OFF THE POST.
GOAL! It took a while to trickle in but Bobby Firmino has struck gold first for Liverpool.
Pool should play all their games at Carrow Roas
That's only four for the former Hoffenheim striker. Not a great return for the season.
A long possession culminated in a pass from Milner that lead to a soft finish by Bobby Firm off the inside of the post that just went over the line.
Someone needed to be on the end of that good cross from Norwich
Two were at the Etihad. I agree with UWS. CR is a happy hunting ground.
Milner with a chance
He's got to do better there
Lufc academy training there?
Milner was through on goal, but tackled by Russell Martin for a corner that was taken short.
Yes. The LUFC Academy put on a clinic for that goal.
A picture of the 51 million pound man sulking on the bench where he sits for being marked out of the game by a lowly L2 side.
Bassong fouls Firm just outside the box.
Non goal !!!
Milner should have scored "weak side"
YOURE A PROFESSIONAL
Well wide by Moreno off a short free kick.
I agree - Milner has always been too right sided. Which is why it was always a nonsense that he played down the left at Citeh.
What about the great tackle by Russell Aston Martin?
Benteke has definitely been one of the biggest disappointments of the season. Some PPPers actually chose him for GBB.
He should have worked on his left foot at the LUFC Academy . Sound about right?
Sakho fouls Mbokani by the touchline
The free kick from Redmond is firmly headed away then Minnie punches away the return cross for a corner.
Head tennis off the corner and
GOAL !!!MBOKANI TIES IT UP WITH A SHOT FROM CLOSE RANGE
Goal
Great back heal
GOAL! A clever little back heel from Mbokani fires Norwich back into this one.
1-1!
A cheeky finish as Russell Martin kept the play alive , heading the ball back into the box after the bout of head tennis , then Mbokani back heeled it past Minnie.
A rash challenge by Sakho on Mbokani. He should have been booked.
JFH's lads are one up vs Wolves at the half.
Great run out of defense by LUFC Academy, who fed the goalscorer. Came to nothing, though.
Jonny Howson has a shot blocked for a corner off a pass from Mbokani
I've moved downstairs but still in phone
United Sotton on NBC and Palace Spurs on USA
Nbc continue to put the most boring team on
The corner is headed away and it looked a foul in the box on Naismith from the LUFC Academy. Apparently , Lee Mason owes the LUFC Academy a favor or so.
For some reason people are still f in awe of United, who are living off of past glories. A strong cuppa will be needed ahead of that match
Well, the United story is a fascinating one, even if the team play isn't.
What a numpty wearing no shirt
At least he isn't in Green Bay
A classic picture off a fat shirtless bloke kissing his Canaries tat.
Bit parky for that nonsense, isn't it?
I used to look forward to watching United until they started heading backwards.
Each club likes to attack a certain end in the second half at the ground
Norwich will do that in the second half but I wonder if Norwich chose it today. Their keeper has sun in his eyes
It's a tad parky this time of the year. Even a chilly start here by our standards.
GOAL! Naismith scores on his debut!!!
Goal!!!
Great run and goal by New Boy Naismith
GOAL !!!NAISMITH GIVES THE CANARIES THE LEAD ON HIS DEBUT AGAINST THE TEAM HE USED TO LOVE TO HATE
Great finish
At least NBC Sports are getting the goals in here. Great finish from the former Toffee - he loves scoring against Liverpool!
Old Evertonian sticks it to the Liverpudlians
It all stemmed from a corner that as headed away. The Canaries kept possession and after some nice interchange between Hoolihan and Dorrans, Hoolihan played a cheeky pass and Naismith scored with a great finish
Did you hear that LVG?
Every shot ON TARGET has gone in
Look what happens when you shoot on the big rectangle
Two minutes of stoppage time.
All these foreign managers coming and complaining about the fixture list. Don't come to England then
Agreed. They should do their research before accepting the job.
The Canaries have come from behind to lead 2-1 at the half.
Ht
Well done Norwich
That's half-time. Alex Neill will be delighted with that half of football. Back in a tick.
I don't get clubs in the January window. A lot of the big clubs, if they buy anyone, wait til the end of the month to buy. Why?
There are a lot of games in January. Why not bring them in at the beginning of the month
Wolves have tied it up at Loftus Road
Was listening to 5Live yesterday and they were talking about the sad state of United's academy
City are miles ahead of United
Uniteds Under-18 side are second bottom of the league and just got crushed last night by Chelsea 5-1
We're back on at Carrow Road. Liverpool need goals in this second half. What's the plan, Jurgen?
I've wondered that, too, but I assume that the issue is that it takes until the end of the month to work out some of the deals.
Back for what should be a fascinating second half.
Citeh may be ahead of United in their academy but do they actually ever bring any of their youth players through? At least United promote their academy kids through the ranks rather than just loaning them out and then flogging them.
That's what I think. It probably takes several weeks to come to an agreement on fees and contract terms.
Yikes!! Not exactly a bright future for the United youngsters. it's like a future at the likes of Exeter City or Cambridge United.
I dropped off Melanie for SAT testing and observed a fine thin layer of patchy frost on some roof tops.
Wow - even in Harlingen?!
Klopp appears to be readying Benteke for a cameo.
Just back downstairs and New Boy wins a pen
Penalty to Norwich!!
Naismith went down once, Moreno got lucky and then he just pushed him over.
PENALTY !!!! MORENO STUPIDLY TRIPS NAISMITH TWICE IN THE BOX. A STONEWALL PENALTY
Ex Leeds man to take
3-1!!!
Huge chance now for the Canaries....
Hoolihan with a not terribly convincing penalty that just about clears Minnie.
3-1!
GOAL !!! 3--1 CANARIES AS HOOLIHAN DISPATCHES IT PAST MINNIE.
I don't think we ever had Wes Hoolihan, did we?
Stupidly by the Pool man
Modern day footballers..:.morons
Is that Stef D singing On The Ball City Never Mimd the Danger
GOAL! What a cracking match this is! Henderson pulls one back for the Reds!
3-2!
GOAL !!!HENDERSON SCORES FOR POOL. IT'S 3-2.
Goal... Hendo gets one back
The Canaries defense was caught ball watching . Clyne was played down the right and his pass was put away by an unmarked Hnderson
The Canaries AKA The Brady Bunch were defending like Florence Henderson on that goal.
My bad about Wes
Just took a shot
Norwich are the Leeds of the East
There was a pipeline fromYorkshire to Norfolk
Lallana is on for Ibe.
The Canaries are benefactors thanks to some great work by the LUFC Academy.
Ibe isn't happy about coming off
The Pool gaffer is being a sour kraut.
Back with my brekkies. Ibe may not be happy but he did bugger all today.
GOAL! Firmino makes it 3-3!!!
3-3
WHERE WERE THE DEFENDERS??
Nice finish at the end of a great move through the left channel. Milner played it down the channel to Lallana who looped a ball over to Firmino to score. Lovely stuff.
GOAL !!!! 3-3 .WHAT A TEAM GOAL CORED BY FIRM AND ASSISTED BY LALLANA MINUTES AFTER COMING ON AS A SUB. SUPERB ONE TOUCH PASSING DOWN THE LEFT AND A SUPERB PASS FROM MILNER TO LALLANA.
Only 6 shots on target
6 goals
That's two 3-3 matches in three Prem matches for Pool.
4th 3-3 in 11 days
Will it finish 3-5 to Liverpool with the Canaries scoring the goal of the season ?
SJP
ANFIELD
BRIDGE
CARROW
Spot on. Two of those involve Pool.
OT not on the list?
Shadow is being very impatient about walkies
Can I hold him off for 25 mins?
A tad late by Moreno on Hoolihan
If you don't then you will probably miss some goals.
Has there been 6 shots on goal in a month?
Goalscorer Hoolahan comes off alongside Redmond.
Matty Jarvis on for Hoolihan and one of the Olsson twins on for Redmond. It looks like more width for the Canaries to hopefully stretch the Pool defense.
Sounds about right.
Milner wins a corner.
Norwich need to win this one to go above Chelsea
However, I only see Pool winning this
Great entertainment for the punters this morning. NBC must be delighted.
Mbokani heads out the corner from Milner for another.
Pool keep possession off the short corner.
I agree. I predict 3-5 to Pool.
I'm going 4-3 Canaries.
On to computer with SS link going strong
Moreno with a shot on target and doesn't' score...he's having a mare
I predict that a spectacular goal will be conceded by Ray Clemence as Pool prevail 3-5.
GOAL
MILNER SCORES!!
Bob's prediction is gone!
Oh dear - Norwich press the self-destruct button!
3-4!
Delia looks as if she's just eaten some oysters that were off.
GOAL FROM THE LUFC ACADEMY AS MILNER TAKES ADVANTAGE OF A HORRIBLE BACK PASS AND FINISHES PAST RUDD. 3-4 POOL.
Delia feels that something smells rotten in the kitchen
Moreno is lectured for a lunge on Dorrans.
It's another big score-line for Liverpool at Carrow Road. Liverpool don't have Suarez but they don't need the Uruguayan Biter if they can rely on suicidal back passes from Jonny Howson.
Some efficient finishing as seven out of eight shots on target have resulted in goals,.
To be fair he mistook Milner for a teammate at the LUFC Academy. we should cut him some slack.
Benteke on for Henderson now. Very different context now for him coming on.
True. From one LUFC Academy member to another.
Agreed. Even he might have a chance of scoring. Interesting since the Canaries have defended like Florence Henderson/.
Cam Jerome coming on as a last chance for Alex Neill's lads.
The final roll of the dice from ALex Neill as Cammy Jerome is on for Naismith, who had an outstanding Canaries debut.
It has finished 1-1 at Loftus Road between JFH's lads and Wolves.
Brilliant thru ball by the left back for the goal... perfectly weighted!
that 3-3 streak is over... bummer
He was taught well at the LUFC Academy. Bob should be proud.
It could be 3-5 like it was around 1980 when Fash scored the goal of the season.
another shot on goal without a goal... shocking!
LOL!
Did that game end 3-5? I thought Norwich won that game with Fash's goal
Benteke’s inability to hold the ball is putting Liverpool under pressure. He miscontrols on the halfway line, allowing Norwich to attack down the left.
I think you're right MUR
Nope. Pool won that match. It was one of the most exciting matches I've ever seen.
Sounds like an LVG style of stirker.
The final roll of the dice for Klopp as Caulker is on for Moreno.
Were you there?
I just saw that Fash's goal made it 3-3
Five minutes of stoppage time.
Still - this one's almost in the bag for Pool.
I was not. I watched it on MOTD.
Hard to argue with Nostrabobus.
Benteke can't even stay onside to give Pool a breather. Pathetic.
Surprise Surprise!! Beneteke is offside.
How many added minutes... there were 4 goals
5 minutes... I think the added time is getting out of hand!
I have always been dead against knowing EXACTLY how much time left. I always like thinking there is always a chance but i am starting to change my thoughts
I think we might need to get a clock that is shown and it counts. Stop the clock if time wasting is going on, when players writhe on the ground, players taking an age getting off the filed
OMG
4-4!!
GOAL! Fantastic!!!!!
GOAL !!! BASSONG MAKES IT 4-4 IN STOPPAGE TIME./
Bang! What a hit from Bassong to make it 4-4!
Klopp is despondent again.
both of your predictions sucked!
I predicted 4-4 but forgot to type it!!
The Pool defense failed to deal with a routine long free kick and Bassong scored with a cracking finish from 25 yards out to tie it up dramatically.
What are your thoughts on my clock statement
I have starting to turn 180 deg
