Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good morning, Bob. Glad to join you for this early start.
Thanks, Bob. Glad to join you.
Nice Remembrance Day tribute in progress.
There are nine FA Cup First Round matches today
How was your conference?
Agreed. A great tribute.
They're off from the EM
Arlo White and both Lee Dixon and Graham Le Socks on board today.
It was long and tedious, lasting till 4 PM. Nothing like a six day work week, but I will be on Thanksgiving Break in a fortnight.
The usual culprits doing the announcing and sharing their words of wisdom.
Kyle Walker heads over a cross from Danny Rose.
Early chance for Danny Rose to get a cross over. His full-back partner Kyle Walker rises but puts over with the header.
I've got one coming up in DC the week after Thanksgiving. I'll combine the professional duties with visiting with the Gooner and Dad.
Oh - Son broke and nearly fed Harry Kane at the backpost. Good start for the Spuds.
Wimmer left one on Coq au Vin there and he'll pick up the game's first yellow.
Sounds like a great deal. I was dreaming of a week off on a day that dragged on and on.
Congratulations on a hard fought win at CR. You must be delighted at beating the poachers and being in a playoff spot for the first time in years
The Gunners go top with a win, pending Pool's result later this morning
Nice cut and thrust to this match already.
Ozil offside off a nice pass from Nacho. There were some spicy peppers ion those Nachos.
I am delighted with our form right now. I wish we weren't interrupted by the international break. It seems as if every time we get some momentum going, we've got ten days off.
Agreed. Citeh looked to have hurt you yesterday and Chelsea really sent out a message yesterday, but Toffees do have a soft center.
LOL. The typical zipper problems for Arsene.
Arsenal are coming into the game now, with Sanchez looking sharp. But Tottenham will be the happier side.
He needs a dresser on the sideline.
Nothing much is happening. Arsenal look surprisingly nervous for a side who have been in such great form.
A heart-stopping moment there for Cech and Mustafi.
It's that November hoodoo, Surely , they're too professional to worry about those silly things.
I went to bed really early, so I had a decent night's sleep. Another hour or so would have been optimal, but the time change helped.
I wonder if Gooner and dad are watching. Gooner must have flicked off the fans clad in nay blue and white.
Harry Kane heads just wide off a cross from Eriksen
Theo is offside to end a good possession
I'm sure that Gooner is watching. Dad may be having brekkies down in the cafe. He can never miss that.
Real is two up vs Leganes midway through the second half. Another noon kickoff. Those Leganes fans must be Real hooligans. for a noon enforced kickoff in Spain
That's quite understandable. Perhaps , he will be around for the second half. Surely, Simon is watching.
What's with this "Three at the Back" trend this weekend. Both Chelski and Everton played that way yesterday. It worked for Chelski - for Everton, not so much.
I would imagine so.
Coq Au Vin jas a really powerful volley blocked.
I think three at the back is common in Italian footie. It will work for certain teams .
It's just starting to get light here.
Alexis tries a rugby conversion there - doesn't quite come off.
Alexis has a shot land in Row M after Bellerin tackled Danny Rose on the high press.
Kyle Walker is down getting treated for some sort of injury.
Kyle Walker is down getting treatment now - a bit of a stalemate so far.
Ozil drags an effort well wide off a great pass from Alexis.
Oh - Iwobi had a great chance there on the end of a super move. Didn't put any power into it.
OH!!!! Iwobi should have given the Gunners the lead .A tame close range effort was easily saved by Lloris after a counter lead by ALexis and Ozil , then a great through ball to Iwobi.
Morning boys
Just a quick check in for a bit before I leave to work at the Olympic Development Program... $120 for 3 hrs work so it's easy money. I have to do it for three straight Sunday mornings!
Still scoreless at the Em but very quick stuff...unlike United!
Again, congrats Bob for your lot!! Could they vie for promotion?
Nice week coming up
No kids on Tuesday and no school Friday
Good morning, UWS. Well done on promoting the sport. A great gig. Keep up the good work.
Sounds like a great week. I will be on Thanksgiving Break in a fortnight. Much needed after a six week work week this week,
This is an odd game in that there have been precious few set pieces for either side.
Morning, UWS - great to hear from you!
Wanyama called for a push , or rather barge, on Theo. The free kick is headed away
Sorry I have been a miss as of late
Are you guys around for the Old Enemy clash on Friday?
Thanks for the Leeds shout-out. I don't know. I fully expect Cellino to sell Chris Wood, who's scored 11 for us this season, in January. That would put an end to any promotion hopes for us. We'll see. I'm just happy that we're reasonably secure now for survival.
It's a tight match as I expected. I'm sure Chelsea and Liverpool fans will be rooting for the Spuds.
I should be, mate. Friday looks okay for me at work.
Think GOING UP!!
Yes. I will be around for the U.S. vs Mexico.
Oh - terrific drive by Theo off the post. Ozil should have scored on the rebound.
I HAVE NO WORK ON FRIDAY!!!!
WOW!!! A long range effort from Theo cannons off the post then Ozil shoots the rebound over. The closest either team has come to scoring
LOL, MUR! I think UWS meant the Auld enemy.
I will be teaching during England vs Scotland, so I will need to record the match.
I did... auto correct
Wimmer is riding a fine line now - he went through the back of Ozil once again.
Does Wanyama ever pass the ball forward? Such a negative player.
I work Friday, , but have an entire week off for Thanksgiving.
Thanks, Bob. I think both matches are on FS1
You guys don't get Veteran's Day
Isn't it a national holiday.
I guess Matt and Jon don't get it off in college
GOAL!!
THE GOONERS TAKE THE LEAD!
GOAL! An own goal from Kevin Wimmer, who's having a 'mare on his first match of the season!
OG but was it offside?
If the guy goes for the ball he's offside
GOAL !!!! WIMMER HEADS INTO HIS OWN GOAL OFF THE FREE KICK FROM OZIL. UWS WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD OF THAT HEADER, BUT PROBABLY NOT BOB.
That is a cracking finish from Wimmer, rising and nodding right into the corner past Lloris. Nice one!
1-0 Arse!
I don't think I ever scored an own goal - not in my memory.
I thought it was offside, but Gooner and Simon will probably disagree.
We don't get Veteran's Day, no. There are a lot of federal holidays that we don't take - e.g., Columbus Day.
It is a national holiday, but the girls and I have nevre been off for Veterans Day
Bit of handbags between both teams. Clattenberg will have to sort it out now.
Theo and Vertonghen are lectured by Mark Clattenburg after a bench clearing brawl nearly started.
Three minutes of stoppage time.
I will be around for the U.S. vs Mexico in case anyone wants to join me. It's an 8 PM kickoff.
Mustafi is down with ahead injury after a clash with Coq AU Vin. More like a hangover.
How could be offside if Wimmer nodded into his own net?
Now that I look at the replay, the two Gunners that were offside weren't going for the ball. The one that did was level with Wimmer. I think it's a valid goal.
The cross from Ozil is too high for Theo.
The Gunners are one up at the half thanks to an OG scored a few minutes ago. That puts them top of the pops.
That's the first half, then. Arsenal players will trot in happy. I'm off for a snuggle with the missus.
Have a good rest of the time on LOB and weekend
Talk to you on Friday
TTFN
The players are coming back out. What answer will Spurs have to the Gunners going ahead. If this result holds, Arsenal will go top for the next two weeks.
The second half is underway from the EM.
Cheers , UWS. Have fun with the Olympic program
Clumsy by Kos on Number One Son.
Delle Ali looks like a kid , who was sucker punched.
Number One Son goes on a solo run on a break after a stray pass from Iwobi, but made to feel like Number Two Son once some Gunners defenders ganged up on him.
Great tackle back by Bellerin there to snuff out the danger.
Penalty to Spurs!!
Koz tripped up Dembele in a nothing area at the top of the box. Silly boy.
Kane to take..scores!!!
1-1!
PENALTY SPUDS . KOS CALLED FOR A FOUL ON DEMBELE. THAT LOOKED SOFT. GOONER, SIMON, AND DAD MUST BE LIVID.
GOAL !!!! HARRY KANE TIES IT UP OM HIS RETURN TO THE SIDE, SENDING LLORIS THE WRONG WAY WITH IT SHOT STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE.
That goal puts Chelsea back on top. It's now 1-1.
Welcome back, Bob.Did you have brekkies at the half?
Oh - great save by Cech.
Great save by Cech from Eriksen off a headed pass from Number One Son.
I'm doing a load of laundry, defrosting a whole chicken , and went to the loo during the halftime break.
Nearly another OG for Wimmer as heads over a teasing cross from Theo.
Just fixing brekkies now - an Entenman's coffee cake, banana and tea.
Mustafi heads over the corner from Nacho after it was headed on.
The needless manner of Spurs’ equaliser has unsettled Arsenal. But they have a corner after a vital header over his own bar by Wimmer.
Giroud is warming up now - he was a supersub last week; will he do it again?
WOW!! That's quite a brekkies. I will be taking Sparky walkies as soon as this match ends, so I'm not sure when I will be having brekkies.
Oh - Kane was nearly in there but Monreal got back to foil him.
Nacho with a great tackle on Harry Kane off a pass from Danny Rose. No, just some rustiness from Harry
I probably won't be around for the late one between Leicester and WBA. Lots of grading to do this weekend.
Dier cuts out a pass for a Gunners corner that is taken short and LLoris does well to push away a header from Xakha Khan for another corner.
Mustafi heads over the corner from Ozil.
Danny Rose wins a corner for the Spuds that is taken short and goes out for a goal kick.
I completely understand. I am lucky that progress reports were due Friday , so I got my Grading out of the way Thursday night.
Aaron Ramsey is on for Coq Au Vin
Ramsey on for Iwobi. I don't really see the point of Iwobi. He hasn't scored this season. How does he start every match?
There was an odd request by Fred for some cherry pie that I denied.
Sorry. I thought Coq Au Vin came off or it may have been an excuse to use his name.
LOL! Fred has odd taste.
Danny Rose appeared to have twisted his ankle, but appears to be okay. He should be available for selection against the Auld Enemy.
You are correct. It was Coq au Vin. A more progressive move from Wenger. Iwobi should have gone off.
He says that they got their first Prem win of the season yesterday by a goal despite being a man down.
Arsene about to make his final spins of the roulette wheel. Giroud on for Iwobi and the Ox on for Theo. Great moves by Arsene that should please both Bob and Kate.
Wanyama with a nasty intoduction to the Ox.
Lloris with a great close range block from Ozil off a pass from Alexis , then Aaron Ramsey shoots just over from the corner.
Vinny Jansen is on for Harry Kane in a like for like swap.
Eric Dier is booked for either a foul on Alexis or the time wasting.
Dier buys himself a yellow card. Silly.
Real have defeated Leganes 3-0.
Bellerin has a shot deflect off of Kyle Walker and to Lloris.
High and wide by Aaron Ramsey, who looked more like Miley Cyrus with that effort.
Kieran Trippier, doing his best Zorro impersonation, is on for the injured Kyle Walker./
Ten minutes for these sides to sort this one out.
If the score remained the same, Arsenal would go level with Citeh on 24 points, with Citeh having better GD. Chelski would be top going into the international Break. I wonder what that would do for the PPP.
Trippier trips Xakha Khan
Ozil with a chance to swing a ball in from a free kick. Rubbish.
Did anyone pick Chelsea to win the Prem. Also Pool could go ahead of Chelsea on gd with a big win vs the Hornets
Oh - off the post from Ericsson's free kick! Wow!
The Ox with a horrible pass straight out of play.
OH!!!! A curling free kick from Eriksen eludes everyone and comes off the post . Cech was out of position.
Danny Rose is the worse for wear off a challenge from the Ox.
Sparky is asking for walkies. He has not adjusted to the time change.
Wimmer tackles for a Gunners corner off a great pass from the Ox.
Can Sparky wait a few minutes?
The corner from Ozil is cleared, but the Gunners retain possession.
Great sweeper keeping from Cech.
Yes. He will need to wait a bit.
Young Harry winks on for his first London Derby as he's on for Number One Son. He will be on for just a wink.
Vinny Jansen forces a great save from Cech off a long diagonal from Eriksen . The offside flag is raised , but Clattenburg waves play on./
Decent chance for Giroud there but his header was straight at Lloris.
Giroud heads stright to Lloris off a cross from ALexis. Five minutes of stoppage time.
Mustafi called for a foul on Jansen. A miss kick from Jansen off a cross from Danny Rose then well over by Wanyama.
Good boy.
Deep into stoppage time now. Surely this one is over.
Trippier is offside off a really long Spuds possession.
And that's that - Arsenal will stay in third, but will give Liverpool a chance to leapfrog them. Spurs will remain in fifth.
It's over and it finishes 1-1 in the North London Derby. Now time to take Sparky walkies. Chelsea stay top of the pops.
Liverpool v. Watford is up next. Liverpool have been the most entertaining side to watch in the Premiership recently. Are you sticking around for that one or going on walkies?
We're set to go at Anfield now. Here are the teams:
Liverpool
Karius; Clyne, Lucas, Matip, Milner; Can, Henderson; Lallana, Mane, Coutinho; Firmino. Subs: Wijnaldum, Sturridge, Klavan, Moreno, Mignolet, Origi, Oviemuno Ejaria.
Watford
Gomes; Janmaat, Kaboul, Britos, Holebas; Amrabat, Behrami, Capoue; Pereyra, Ighalo, Deeney. Subs: Mariappa, Guedioura, Zuniga, Sinclair, Watson, Kabasele, Pantilimon.
Referee: Michael Oliver (Northumberland)
You don't see that often. Referee Oliver blows for a bad kick-off and has them do it again.
Audacious effort from Britos, somewhere near the halfway line, he tries to lob Karius. We know the jury might be out on the German keeper, but steady on...
Oh - Firmino with a nice chance there from Milner's cross.
Game hasn’t really settled yet. Watford are pressing Liverpool very high, but that happens so much these days against teams who play out from the back, it’s hardly worth noting.
I'm back from walkies on a warmer than expected morning for some Darke commentary
Lucas heads wide from a free kick taken by Miner.
The Saints have taken the lead at the KC
Charlie Austin from the spot at the KC.
Some early FA Cup goals:
The Tangerines take the lead vs Kidderminster
Maidstone United take a shock lead vs Rochdale
Taunton Town takes the lead vs Barrow.
St.Albans surprisingly holding Carlisle United 1-1
Oh - Lucas with a huge chance at the backpost. That would have been a collector's item - he hasn't scored in six years!
Welcome back, mate - how was your walkies?
Lucas has a close range effort saved by Gomes as the corner was headed on by Firmino. All three are from Brazil.
That Saints goal might take them above United - you lot need a win today in the worst way.
Thanks ,Bob. Sparky and I got hot and are trying to cool down
Agreed. If we can't defeat the Swans then where is our next win?
Oh - Coutinho off the underside of the bar. Wouldn't have counted anyway - offside.
OH!!!! Off the underside of the bar from Coutinho from a pass by Clyne, but the offside flag was raised.
Beautiful day up here today. I'll be doing plenty of raking this afternoon. I reckon another two weekends of it and I'll be done for the season. I would estimate that I put 50-60 wheelbarrows of leaves in the compost heap in the back every fall.
Boreham Wood take a shock lead vs Notts County in the Cup
BUGGER!!! The Evil Blades take the lead vs the Orient Express.
Oh - how did Countinho miss that one? A goal is coming, for sure.
Into the side netting by Countinho with just Gomes to beat as he turned a defender.
Can has a shot blocked on a Pool break. Pool must be taking the lead sooner rather than later
Milner with a shot easily saved by Gomes.
The Tangerines go two up vs Kidderminster while Barrow tie it up at Taunton Town.
OH!!!! Firmino shoots wide with just Gomes to beat off a nice pass from Coutinho. Again, all Brazis
Taunton regain the lead vs Barrow . It's now 2-1.
So, any predictions for Election Day?
GOAL! Mane with a super header to open the scoring.
Short corner routine undid Watford's stingy defense. When the ball came in, Mane was first to it with a deft header.
1-0!
That goal will move Pool to the top of the league, I think.
Back from fixing brekkies and
GOAL!!!MANE HEADS POOL INTO THE LEAD OFF A CROSS FROM COUTINHO AFTER A ONE TWO OFF A SHORT CORNER WITH MILNER.
2-0 Liverpool! They've put Watford to the sword within five minutes!
The goal came after yet another Pool attack where Gomes made a close range block from Milner and Max Britos cleared for a corner
