A Later Start to Sunday Morning
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good morning, mate. I'm here to join you after a late lie in and a late night out with Elizabeth
It will be Chelsea vs the Gunners in a fortnight: A massive match
They're off from the EM Jon Champion announcing
Burnley's away point of the season was the 0-0 draw at OT and only because Tom Heaton made a ton saves
With all of their rivals underperforming yesterday, this is a golden opportunity for the Arsenal to pick up points.
Morning, MUR! Glad to hear that you had a good night out last night.
George Boyd was clipped by Nacho. I hate clipped nachos. The free kick from Defour is headed on by Ben Mee as the Gunners struggle to clear
Cheers, mate. Glad to join you. The Gunners move up to second with a win, which would make that match vs Chelsea in a fortnight massive.
Jon Champion says it's around freezing in the capital while the overnight lows were around 20 while Arsene is in just a suit. He must be chillly.
A long range effort from Alexis is high and wide.
We had an unusually warm day here in WNY with temps near 60F. My neighbor was out washing his car!
It will be interesting to watch Alexis Sanchez's body language today, as he's rumored to be having a strop with the management.
Decent cross there from Lowton and Barnes wasn't far away. Burnley with a bit more ambition than you might expect here.
WOW!!! You must have had quite a thaw . It hit 80 here, breaking records. I mowed the lawn.
Tom Heaton superbly tips around a long range effort from Ozil.
More pressure from the Arsenal now. Heaton saves well first from a long range shot and then with Koz's header from close range.
The corner is taken short and after a cross from Ozil is headed away, Iwobi shoots wide through a sea of bodies.
Cech turns around a shot from Ashley Barnes . The corner is headed away by Ollie.
There's a team in Nigeria called Wiki Tourists. Surely, that's worth some comments.
And some leaks?
Ollie miss hits a shot wide from a pass from Ozil as they counter off a Burnley counter.
Some of the huge snow/dirt piles are still in evidence on campus but there has been a lot of thawing.
Definitely in the back four , tactics and, transfer targets for sure. Who is the owner.
Lively start to the game: we’ve had nine attempts (seven from Arsenal) on goal from both sides in the opening 17 minutes.
Ozil shoots wide after a cross from Peter Gabriel was headed out.
Unfortunately, most have been off target.. I recall each keeper making one save.
The Gunners have a free kick after Defour and Xakha Khan are lectured to by John Moss.
Peter Gabriel hurls himself like a sledge hammer after a decision doesn't go his way in a challenge with Ben Mee.
Ozil is offside as Tom Heaton comes out to block after a superb through ball from ALexis.
Andre Gray shoots straight at Cech off a pass from George Boyd.
Decent chance for Andre Gray there - Burnley have been worth the point so far.
This is a great way to spend part of a four day weekend.
I guess they have a point to prove based on their away form.
Arsene now dons a coat on a chilly London day.
Ramsey goes on a solo run, then is clipped by George Boyd.
Ozil has a shot come off of Ben Mee for a corner.
The corner from Ozil is headed away,
A cross from Mustafi is caught by Heaton right under the bar. He was his usual alert self.,
Ollie is down, holding his ankle, off a challenge with Ben Mee.
Matty Lowton with an unnecessary foul on ALexis just outside the box.
Sean Dyche certainly has a loud voice - crikey!
Kos has a header from the free kick deflect for a corner.
Have you got tomorrow off, mate?
Mustafi heads on the corner from Ozil then Alexis has a volley go halfway to SFL.
I'm playing hooky Monday and Tuesday. Everything is ready for the sub. That's why I went to pick up Elizabeth from her parents as soon as school got out on Friday.
Ben Mee heads on a rare Burnley corner . now the Gunners attack.
The Prem schedule maker is not the only one with a sense of humor. Next Sunday in the Cup, a 7 AM kickoff between the Evil Lions and Hornets while the Cottagers vs the Tigers kicks off a half an hour later.
Now the Gunners have a free kick.
Dean Marney heads out the free kick from Ozil; , then Alexis shoots well wide.
Cech had to be brave and is down after going for the ball with Andre Gray off a a run and cross from George Boyd.
Cech is on his knees and looks to be okay to be continue.
A minute of stoppage time.
Sorry, mate - I was distracted by a phone call.
It's 0-0 at the end of a half that the Gunners dominated, but couldn't find the target
There's the half-time whistle then. Arsene Wenger won't be happy about that. Could it be that all of Chelski's rivals are conceding the title?
No problem. Is everything okay?
The second half is underway from the EM
Back on at the Emirates for the second half. No changes to either side, naturally.
Tom Heaton easily saves a lon grange effort from Nacho off a pass from Alexis after Iowbi went on a solo run released Alexis
One of our friends here is having difficulty at work - nothing much to worry about.
Great skill from Nacho as he made a 180 degree turn then crossed for Ollie to head toward goal then Ramsey headed it over.
Alexis shoots inches over off a classic Gunners counter that started with Jeff Hendrick cheaply gifting possession.
Sorry to hear that. I know the feeling.
Mustafi is called for a foul off a throw from Steven Ward
The free kick from Defour is cleared away by the first man. That leads to a Gunners counter.
Arsenal have started this half full of purpose.
And they win a corner off of former United player, Michael Keane.
Andre Gray appeared to foul Mustafi in the box off the short corner.
That definitely looked a penalty. I'm sure that there is cursing in the streets of Alex.
Matt Lowton picked up a yellow there for something off the ball.
Iwobi goes on a solo run and has a shot blocked by Steven Ward for a corner. Matty Lowton booked for an off the ball foul on Alexis.
GOAL! Mustafi scores his debut goal for the Arse!
GOAL !!! THE GUNNERS FINALLY SCORE AS MUSTAFI HEADS IN A CORNER FROM OZIL.
Simple goal there after all of the complex football they've played. Decent corner over by Beaker and Mustafi met it with a glancing header that just evaded Heaton.
1-0 Gunners!
That will have to draw Sean Dyche's side out a bit.
What a time to score his first goal for the Gunners after finally making the breakthrough.
Costa will start for Chelsea vs the Tigers today.
It will be tough for Dyche's side as they have only scored three away Prem goals the entire season.
Another Gunners corner. Will they score again?
Ozil finds Ramsey and who knows whom he intended to find with that pass.
Xhaka is in trouble with the ref here. Poor challenge. Ref checking with linesman. And he's off!!!!
Two footed and off the ground - the boy doesn't have much room for complaint.
Xkha Khan was out of tune with a poor challenge on Defour. He sure was and
HE'S OFF . That may have been retaliation for a dispute in the first half.
Xhaka despondent as he trudges back up the tunnel. This could make this one interesting.
Agreed. It was a stonewall sending off. The Gunners will have to see out their slim lead a man down or try to emulate what the Seagulls did on Friday.
Sean Dyche should make some immediate changes now. Joey Barton being prepared.
Xakha Khan will be suspended for the Cup match at St. Mary's on Saturday, The prem match in midweek next week ,a and the big one at SB in tow weeks.
Coq Au Vin is on for Iwobi as a result of the red card and will probably start the next three matches.
Burnley win a free kick off a long free kick.
Cech doers well to tip over the free kick from Defour.
The corner leads to another after some strange defending.
Predictable boos for Barton as he trots on.
Joey Barton is on for Jeff Hendrick. He scored a winning free kick off the bench last week.,
Marney picks up a yellow tracking back on Beaker.
Dean Marney is booked for a foul on Ozil just outside the Burnley box.
That was a good goal, very clever. Barton could change this match.
Jon Champion stated that Joey Barton has scored more goals against the Gunners than any other team. I would not have expected that.
Dean Marney is going off on a stretcher.
Tarkowski, the former Bee, will be on for Marney. Will the Tark be able to sting the Gunners?
Bob's beloved Sam Vokes is on for Defour.
The free kick from Ozil is headed out for a corner.
Burnley make a double change: once inforced, one tactical. Tarkowski on for Marney, Vokes comes on for Defour.
Burnley haven't really done anything with thier man advantage.
True - and they've used all of their subs now.
Ashley Barnes couldn't get a shot off from two yards out and Cech gathers the loose ball.
Both Koscielny and Mustafi are grimacing. Vokes has only been on for four minutes.
Giroud rarely lasts the full 90 and he's about to be replaced by Danny Welbeck.
Burnley in full control now but not making their advantage pay.
Now Wellie is on for Ollie.
The first thing he does is foul.
Matty Lowton with a long range effort halfway to Herts.
Bellerin is on for Ozil.
Tom Heaton saves superbly from Coq Au Vin as the Gunners try to uncork a victory.
Ben Mee with a superb last ditch tackle on Wellie
LUCKY Seven Minutes of stoppage time. Murmurings in the streets of Alex.
Oh my goodness!!!!
It's a penalty for Burnley inside stoppage time.
PENALTY GUNNERS AS ASHLEY BARNES GOES DOWN IN THE BOX.
Stone cold penalty there - Coq au Vin overcooked it, lashing out there.
Andre Gray steps up and puts it straight down the middle. Cech nearly saved it.
1-1
GOAL !!! 1-1 AS ANDRE GRAY SHOOTS THE PEN STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE OFF OF CECH'S HAND.
Wenger having a strop with the fourth official!
It goes from bad to worse as arsene is sent off along with Xakha Khan
Mustafi gets a yellow for dissent - silly boy.
Mustafi is booked for the Gunners as they seem to be having a late meltdown.
Oh - Heaton saves from Alexis.
Heaton pushes around a shot from Alexis. Taken short.
Oh my!!!!!!!
It's another penalty!!!!
Wow! Mee made a rash challenge there and nearly kicked Koz's head.
PENALTY GUNNERS AS BEN MEE IS CALLED FOR A KICK ON KOS OFF A CROSS FROM ALEXIS
GOAL !!! 2-1 AS ALEXIS LOOKS TO HAVE WON IT WITH A PANENKA.
Alexis to step up now.....
Oh my - a Panenka to win the match!
2-1 Gunners!
It's over as that was virtually the last kick of the match. The Gunners win 2-1.
And that's it! Arsenal have won it in the most dramatic way.
Sorry boys, I am no show today
Hardly watched any so far and I am leaving in a mo
Have a good week boys
Cheers, UWS. Have a great week.
Alexis is now the GBB thanks to that super late Panenka. Will Costa regain the lead?
That late, late Gunners win moves them up above their bitter rivals Spurs into second on 47 points, five behind Chelski.
Diego is back! Here's the full team news:
Chelsea (3-4-3) Courtois; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill; Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso; Pedro, Diego Costa, Hazard.
Substitutes: Begovic, Ake, Zouma, Chalobah, Fabregas, Willian, Batshuayi.
Hull (3-5-1-1) Jakupovic; Maguire, Dawson, Davies; Elabdellaoui, Mason, Huddlestone, Clucas, Robertson; Evandro; Hernandez.
Substitutes: Marshall, Meyler, Diomande, Maloney, Niasse, Tymon, Bowen.
Referee Neil Swarbrick.
They're off from SB
Costa chests down a pass from the Sideshow and volleys just wide about ten seconds into the match
If Chelsea win they go ten points clear of the Gunners and if the Tigers win they move out of the drop zone.
Chelsea have started with breezy authority; Hazard looks particularly lively. And why not - they're playing Hull!
Good point. The Tigers host United on Thursday , then off to your house next Sunday before facing United at OT in the Prem a week from Wednesday.
Theoretically Hull City could leapfrog Palace and Swansea out of the drop zone with a win here. I don't fancy it though.
If Costa scores then he's tied with Alexis for GBB. If he scores two or more than he has the sole lead.
I don't either, but I guess there's always that slim chance.
Fatty with a shot off target about the width of his tummy from goal.
The Tigers may have a match at your house sandwiched between two matches with United , but will that equate to you and Kate providing sandwiches?
Andy Robertson tackles Victor Moses for a Chelsea corner.
The corner is headed away and play stops as there's a clash of heads between Ryan Mason and Gary Cahill.
It looks like Ryan Mason will need to be replaced . David Meyler is coming on. Gary Cahill looks set to continue.
There’s a horrible clash of heads between Gary Cahill and Ryan Mason, who were jumping for a cross from Pedro. Play is stopped immediately. I think they are both okay, though a stretcher is being brought on.
I was out at dinner last night with Red Devil, our current leader, who is looking forward to displaying the Shield prominently next season.
There’s a long delay while Mason is eased onto a stretcher. David Meyler is going to replace him.
The length of that delay makes us worry about Ryan Mason. Let's hope he's okay.
Play resumes after a lengthy stoppage. David Meyler came on for Ryan Mason.
I agree. He looked in extreme distress.
He's in with a great chance of winning the shield, but it's too close too call.
Harry Maguire heads straight to Courtois off a corner from new signing, Evandro, then Curtis Davies is booked for fouling Kante on the break,.
Jakupovic is forced to tip over a deflected shot from Marcos Alonso.
Big shout by Pedro for a penalty, but nothing doing from referee Swarbrick.
It is - because his picks in other categories are weaker.
Hull will be happy that they've got through half an hour without conceding. They've set out their stall well here.
For example, I think I picked United to win the EFL Cup. I may be top , but things can still change.
Agreed. The Tigers have been more solid since Marco Silva took over. Is Kate ready to face them next Sunday? They may be tuckered out after their match with us.
I'm guessing about seven minutes of stoppage time due to that injury.
Costa, who has been a bit rusty, runs the ball straight out of play.
Must be - at least. I can remember a 10 minute stoppage time in a recent Leeds match after the keeper had to be stretchered off.
YIKES!! That must have been really serious.
Costa was well offside off the through ball from Hazard despite putting the ball in the back of the net.
Costa has the ball in the net but is ruled offside. Close call, might have just been on.
Courtois is forced to push a swerving effort from Maguire around the post.
Courtois might also be rusty given his lack of action this season in the Chelski goal. He seemed to really have difficulty turning around that Maguire shot.
Moses is fouled on the break after the corner was cleared and Kante got away with a foul. I guess he Kan.
That's the closest either team came to scoring despite Chelsea's dominance.
WOW!!! Naughty Nine minutes of stoppage time.
Curtis Davies, already on a card, fouls Pedro about a foot outside the box.
Dawson heads out for a Chelsea corner taken short. The cross from Costa is headed away,
Jakupovic has to be alert from a pass from Alonso that went through a group of players and Kante just failed to make contact,
I had a feeling it would be a chunk. We're now beyond the 50 minute mark and still in the first half!
GOAL! Wouldn't you know it - Costa scores!
He didn't need to do much. Just took a step off the defender as he anticipated the ball in and then bang!
GOAL !!! COSTS GIVES CHELSEA THE LEAD IN THE LUCKY SEVENTH MINUTE OF STOPPAGE TIME . A REALLY LENGTHY POSSESSION ENDED WITH A CROSS FIELD PASS FROM HAZARD TO MOSES AND HIS PASS WAS DIVERTED IN THE CORNER BY COSTA.
Costa now is join top GBB with Alexis while Chelsea are eight is enough points clear of the Gunners
Chelsea are one up at the end of a marathon first half thanks to a goal by Costa deep in stoppage time.
The second half is underway
Courtois easily saves a long range effort from Maguire.
We're back on for the second half now.
Nearly a pen there!
Andy Robertson booked for a foul from behind on Moses.
Courtois with another nice long range save, this time from Meyler , which seemed like driver from a mile out by the Meyler.
Costa has a shot come off of Dawson for a Chelsea corner.
Jakupovic comfortably saves a long range effort from Costa
A moment's applause for the passing of a dedicated Chelsea supporter.
Niasse is on for the injured Curtis Davies. s Victor Moses fouled Robertson.
A pathetic free kick from Maguire was well wide. That looked like one I took when I was first starting out as a footballer.
This match is fizzling out.
Coutrois saves a near post effort after head tennis off a corner. The next corner from Clucas is headed away
Sorry, mate - just finished lunch with Kate.
Fatty wins a corner off of Moses.
