Another Big Premiership Weekend
Welcome to another big weekend in the Premiership, boys. It all starts out with ManYoo's trip to Wales to meet Swansea. United had a smashing start to the season. Can they keep it up?
Later we've got the usual packed fixture schedule of 10am matches, including Liverpool hosting Palace.
And at the end of the day, we've lot a cracking double head. Arsenal will visit Stoke on the telly, while my beloved Leeds meets up with high flying Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Join me for all the action this morning, won't you?

Good morning, Bob. Up and here to enjoy the pleasure of your company.
Morning all
So United are unchanged for their second match of the season... I guess winning 4-0 wins you a starting spot
Morning, boys - great to have you on board. Are you feeling confident about the match this morning?
Swansea XI: Fabianski; Naughton, Fernandez, Bartley, Mawson, Olsson; Mesa, Fer, Carrol; Ayew, Abraham.
Manchester United XI: De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Blind; Matic, Pogba, Mata; Rashford, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku.
It feels great to be back in The Cottage for a weekend of footer. The on-line version on NBC Sports in the hotel was acceptable but there's nothing like having my cuppa and bagel next to me as we get started this morning.
Got to pick up Jon.. be back soon
Paul Clement has commented this week in the papers that Jose is the "professor" and he's "the student." Is he trying to psych Mou out? We'll see who ends up victorious in a moment.
Fred is up and looking forward to the visit of Leeds .
Teams in the tunnel now at the Liberty. Lovely.
Good morning, UWS. Teams in the tunnel.
Tell Fred that we're going to crush his dreams. Might as well have a bite to eat now and then go hide under the bed for the proceedings.
Sounds like he is. Jose is too clever to fall into that trip.
Will do, but that's a normal day for him. He's says Simon says we're going to win
A moment of silence for someone , who had served Swansea the past fifty years, at the age if 90.
They're off from the Liberty
And we're away at the Liberty after a nice solidarity moment for Barcelona.
Kevin Kilbane has missed kickoff!
There's also an old fashioned South Yorkshire Derby on Watch ESPN in case you're interested.
Jose already looks grumpy and we've barely kicked off. Come on, Mou, this is supposed to be fun!
I'm going to focus on this one, but thanks for the tip.
Ruddy Norah. !!! The he Swans are dominating early doors, First Ayew too easily sliced off the bar after getting too easily past Bailey then the Chunk leads a United break and slices wide with just Flappy to beat.
It's the Evil Blades vs Barnsley. I presume that you would want both to lose.
The Evil Blades take the lead.,
Nice turn by Rash, but his shot was scuffed wide.
Rash scuffs a shot wide. Not sure why he's being booed.
Shame - in that one, I'd always want Barnsley to beat up on the Evil Blades.
Mawson fouls Rash.
I am back
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Heard on the radio that Swansea hit the crossbar
oooh, now United hit the crossbar!
Jones should have scored... has he scored for United?
Oh - great ball in from Mata from the free kick and Jones hit the woodwork with a powerful header! So close!
OH!!! Jones heads the free kick off the bar. he missed scoring by a Mata of inches.
I guess it was called offside...he actually missed the header and shouldered it!
Welcome back,UWS. It's just a Mata of time before United score.
Actually on the replay Jones met it with his shoulder - if he had got his big head on it, it would have probably flashed by Flappy.
Great opening to this match.
Great run by Rashford there
Why is Rash being booed?
Melanie is up in San Marcos and Jacquelyn starts school on Monday.
Bob and Kate are hosting Not a Big Club. They should be served only outdated leftovers if even that
Did Untied win here last season? I know they lost the year before when I was in San Diego
You're almost an empty nester, mate.
We'll be turfing Not a Big Club on the curb. They're not really the class of guests that we're accustomed to at The Cottage.
We sure are. Time sure flies by as evidenced by your post yesterday.
Kevin Kilbane has made it into the commentary box finally. He's only 17 minutes late!
Agreed. They don't seem like typical visitors.
Better late than never.
Leroy Fer should have picked up a card there for a wild challenge on Mata.
Come on United... speed it up
Sunderland Leeds coming up on WatchESPN at 12:30
We had a horrible incident happen at work while I was in San Marcos. During in-service A friend sent me a message that one of our fellow math teachers mad e a loud noise and passed out while having a seizure. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital. The upsetting part is that the principal continued on as if nothing ever happened.
I am going to be missing the Wembley match tomorrow !
Fred says Simon says let's beat Leeds!
Horrible stuff David!
How can the principal just keep going?
After watching the past few weeks, I''m favoring the home team in that match
Kyle Bartley does really well to track Lukaku back. We're going to miss him at Elland Road this season.
That is horrendous. I hope that that principal is disciplined by the higher ups. No excuse for that.
Agreed. Fortunately , I was out of town, but a lot of teachers were stunned. My Buddy and I both agreed that we would have walked out. Several teachers went to complain to the Superintendent. This was Thursday. As of yesterday he was coherent, but not permitted to see visitors.
Bailly has his hands full with the speedy Abraham today but he read the situation well with that long ball out.
Now - the ref has pulled a few players over to have a word.
Tom's Siena traveled down to New Jersey yesterday for a match against Seton Hall
They started the match two hours early because of weather
Played the first half, second half starts and then there was lightning... sat around for 2 hours... game canceled and they came home
What a waste
Yesterday morning when we were in line for our flu shot she looked like she had been crying, but when we had our luncheon she looked like she was chatting with them. We think she's being protected. No accountability.
Bit of a Rash one from Pogba who goes into Jon Moss' book.
Pogba booked for a poor foul on Tom Carroll.
Rash get talking to by the ref
Pogba in the book for a nasty tackle
United's defending has not been good
Some of the clearings have been naff
Sorry to hear that Dave. Isn't that a three hour drive each way?
How long is that trip to New Jersey, mate?
Over three hours!
Now Ayew has taken a boot in the face from Valencia. Getting a bit chippy out there now.
Next weekend they are in Macon, Georgia
Kath and I will be in Boston
Rash has the first shot on target... from a mile away
Great touch by Rash but then took too long to do anything
Come on Pogba... be smarter
Ref isn't going to book him but he will if he keeps it going
Pogba is in trouble now; late again. What was he thinking. Jon Moss is having a chat. Nothing.
YIKES!!! Pogba is on thin ice as he's been booked then is guilty of a horrible foul on one of the Olsson twins. A final warning.
What are you and Kathy doing in Boston, mate?
My nephew will be moving into his dorm at the Berklee school of music, which I believe is in Boston. Hope you and Kathy have a lot of fun.
Jon and three of his friends are playing in a video game tournament!!
We are going on Thursday and returning on Sunday
That's a great school, mate. I used to go to concerts there all the time during my time in Boston. I miss Beantown - can't afford it, though.
Rashford is keeping the ball too much AND diving too much
Swansea break from hit and look dangerous
Sounds like a great trip, mate.
The Swans win a corner on the break that started with a tackle on Rash
Oh - Bartley had a free header but didn't get any contact!
Again, United don't look good from set pieces
Bartley heads wide from the corner from Tom Carroll.
Players are too busy trying to hug players and not watching the ball
Leeds get a shout-out from the commentator!
Peter Dreary mentioned about Kyle Bartley being on loan to Leeds last season.
Rashford with a great chance... weak effort!!
Oh - Rash had a fortuitous touch into his path but his finish wasn't definitive enough. Just a dink into Flappy's arms.
Tried to lob it in with the outside of his right foot...just place it passed the keeper with your left
COME ON RASH. A long ball is back headed straight to him and with just Flappy to beat he basically passes it to him.
Another free kick chance for the Swans now.
The Evil Blades are one up at the half vs Barnsley in a local derby.,
Not liking Rashford's decision making so far today
Trying to do too much
Free kick... wide open at the back post... where were United defenders!
Atrocious forward pass by Pogba
United aren't up for this so far
Bartley did get his head to it that time to knock it back across goal. No targets running on. But Bartley is a threat from set pieces. He scored six goals for us last year in those positions.
Now United have a free kick chance. Similar situation.
I did respond to Bob's post yesterday. I am sorry to see Brucie pass away, but never cared for him. Thought he lacked talent and found him really irritating. He seem to be honored more for longevity than anything else. In the Guinness Book of Records for that!
I'll be watching Final Score on the Beeb at the beginning of the second half of the 3 o'clockers
MotD is on at 10:25
Atrocious corner by United again
No foul on the keeper by Pogba but Mata hits it wide
Flappy does that at a cross and Mata the loose ball was hooked wide by a Mata of inches. He was put off by one of the Olsson tins. Many others can say that!
Thanks for that, MUR. Dave actually alerted me to Bruce's passing. I was remembering a time when I was in the Heathrow baggage claim. As I was waiting for my bags to come out, I overhead another passenger saying, "Set of luggage, tea set, cuddly toy..." as they came off the belt, mimicking the competition on the Generation Game. Great memories!
Thanks for the update.
I watched a tribute to Brucie yesterday and he actually was REALLY talented
I know what you mean but he could sing, dance, be funny and he was a really nice guy
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pogba hits crossbar and then Bailly bundles it in!
GOAL! United take the lead. Bailly will claim it but Pogba made it with a powerful effort onto the woodwork.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! POGBA HEADS A CORNER OFF THE BAR THEN BAILEY SMASHES IN THE REBOUND FROM AN INCH OUT FOR HIS FIRST UNITED GOAL.
Great header and it wasn't over the line
Great save too!
I was also thinking that he's one of the few celebrities from that era who hasn't been discovered to have been part of a pedophile gang. He was a really decent bloke.
You and Bob were more familiar with him, so I believe both of you.,
Great time to score - United troop in 0-1 up....
Great time to score
Half time... six out of six so far
United one up at the half due to the most unlikeliest of scorers.
Then I take back what I said. Great reasons for him to be honored. I always wondered why he looked so much older than his actual age.
It was an interesting documentary
Second week in a row United take a 1-0 lead into half time
I'll take the same as last week for the second half too please
Teams out for the second half
Come on United!!!!
We are off
Second half underway from the Liberty.
United almost in
Lukaku's pass to Miki was just too short
Last season started well until we lost at home to City
So far, so good, but I assume that you'd like another goal to kill this one off.
I've got the Test Match going on my laptop
England crushing the Winds in the first ever Day/Night test match in England.
The West Indies used to be the best in the world now they are horrible
England declared at over 500
Nice cut back by Mata... cross didn't find anyone... sigh
Useless corner follows
A second United goal would be fantastic.
very much so Bob... a couple in fact
I remember when they were the powerhouse. Sad to see their decline.
Did you see the rumors of Burnley bidding 15 mil for Chris Wood?
He should stay and challenge instead of leaving and fighting off relegation
Celtic one up at Killie in the second half.
I heard about that. He should stay at Leeds.
By the way, I've just got a notification on Facebook that our old Algebra teacher and UWS' favorite Linda Dear is celebrating her 75th birthday today. Many happy returns!
If you were on Facebook, you could wish her a happy birthday, UWS! ;-)
Rain stops play after ONE ball
If Burnley sign him then then if he scores they should stay up.
United pressing the Swans back so far.. keep it going
I heard that - I wonder if that's the reason why he's seemed a bit unsettled. Only one headed goal from four matches so far.
I will make sure to wish her a Happy Birthday on her three fourths of a century!
I've always questioned whether Chris is actually Premiership quality. He may just be one of those players who scores bucketsful in the Championship but can't make the jump. Dwight Gayle might prove to be that this season for Newcastle.
I agree. Those are great descriptions.
I heard that Forest is interested in signing Chris as cover in goal for Peter Shilton. That can't be!
Send her a happy birthday from me please
She was a great teacher. I had her 7-10 grade!
I always remember how she could make perfect circles!
She would go close to the board and voom... circle made
Come on United... step up the tempo and go for more
Great memories . She was my ninth grade Geometry teacher. That's the subject I've taught the majority of my career.
Oh - Abraham heads over from a fizzing cross from Carroll.
United being pinned back right now
Free header.. come on United defend right!!
OH!!!! A header from Tammy Abraham is not too far off. Great cross by Tom Carroll.
The two central defenders just let him go!
Will do, UWS. I might even mention the circle story. Have you ever tried out that technique?
Corner to United
Miki has a long range effort deflected for a corner.
Thanks
Don't know how she did it! Her arm just made the perfect circle
Ayew tried to thread a ball through to Abraham but Jones cut it out well.
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
Come on Man U
I know we haven't conceded yet in the Premier League but I still think the defending looks very shaky
Miki let fly there but his shot was always slicing wide of the mark.
Martial and Fellaini about to come on
Jose using the same tactic as last week
United almost concede from corner... come defenders!
United are readying a double substitution of their own, with Fellaini and Martial preparing to come on.
Struth... how did that go straight across the box!!
United are letting it slip
I actually do Instagram!!!
Aren't you the millennial, eh?
Blind with a shot... while fouled!
Hope he's ok.
Dangerous position for a free kick
COME ON... HIT THE OLD ONION BAG
Pogba and Blind over the ball....Pogba...useless effort
Pogba strikes a free kick up over the wall but just high and wide of the mark. Here come those subs.
Fellaini and Martial coming off for Mata and Rashford
Same as last week
Test Match underway
Into the 83rd minute at Bramall Lane
United still lead 1-0 but both teams are down to ten men
Wicket in the first over of the day
Windies trail by 469 runs
If The Chunk is going to drift out wide to collect the ball then someone has to make a run into the box to meet a cross. I'd like to see Martial actually get his head on the ball once in a blue moon.
All Sports covered on the LOB
Agreed
This is when United add a couple more goals
I can only follow the footer. I'll leave the tiddlywinks to you, mate.
You used to follow the cricket more than me
GOAL! Lukaku scores United's second! Easy!
YES!!!!!!!!!
LUKAKU!!!!
Great pass!
Martial was going to shoot but great pass by Miki
I don't know any of the players any more.
And three! Pogba! Wow!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! POGBA!!
Suddenly United have scored 7 without replay in the Premiership. They are laying down a marker.
Great finish
Let's just score a fourth for symmetry with last week
United have three
England have three
YES!!!!
MARTIAL!!
JUST LIKE LAST WEEK
And four!!!!!
Martial on the end of another great break!
This has got to get you and MUR excited for this season. Mighty impressive.
The only difference is Lukaku didn't score two and Pogba and Martial switched order
Keep it tight.. don't concede
Plus 8 in goals so far this season...that doesn't hurt
Sorry for missing. I was on the phone with Melanie. All is well and she made the marching band as a piano player.
I missed the fourth goal while in the bog , but saw all the other goals.
Nocito Curse in Harlingen?
Why is Mou so grumpy looking?
That's it
Four nil United
I'll take that every week!
Well, that was quite a result for United. Well done, gents.
Did you hear that Big Ben is not going to chime from next week for essential repair
It won't ring until 2021!!
Great start to the season as United start with two 4-0 wins. Long may it continue.
I'm off to shower and shave
I'll be back
YIKES!!! That's a tradition.
Off to take Elizabeth and Jacquelyn shopping. Will be back for the 10 AMers.
