Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

RIP Sir Bruce Forsyth (1928-2017)

For those of us who grew up in England in the 70s, Bruce Forsyth was always just there, on the telly, with his cheeky chappy persona and a trademarked catch-phrase (e.g., "Nice to see ya...to see ya, nice!"). It's not as if The Generation Game or any of his other many, many shows was very good. It wasn't "Fawlty Towers." But he was just part of your living room. So, it's sad to hear today of his death at the age of 89. We're getting older, friends. RIP Brucey!

Agreed, Bob. If one of the fixtures of our childhood is close to 90 then it's a sign of us aging. To be honest, I was never a fan and he found him to be annoying and egotistical. I read that he's in the Guinness Book of Records as the male entertainer with the longest television career. The Knighthood and CBE were more for longevity and charitable contributions . The British public must have agreed to disagree as he was voted television personality of the year for several seasons. Despite that, sad to see him passing.
