It's Time to Watch Football!
Morning, chaps! After a long workweek, it's a pleasure to settle into my favorite chair to watch some of the good stuff. First up are the league leaders, who are away to the Evil Blades in a lunch-time kickoff. I'm hoping that they put 10 by the Sheffield club. No mercy.
Then we've got the 10 o'clockers, including Chelsea v. Brighton on NBC and my beloved Leeds away to Charlton in another Championship six-pointer. Unfortunately, no coverage of the men in White today.
At the end of the day, we get struggling Everton v. Citeh. Can the Toffees nick some more points off the champions? Let's hope so, but I doubt it. I'll look forward to the pleasure of your company.

Sheffield United’s best work so far this season has been on the road. A commendable opening-day draw at Bournemouth; a magnificent two-goal comeback at Chelsea to salvage a draw; a win at Everton achieved easily, despite (according to their manager) not even playing that well. By contrast, the Blades have lost their last two league matches at Bramall Lane. This afternoon presents a fine chance to snap that run.
The teams out on the pitch at rubbishy Brammall Lane now:
Sheffield United: Henderson, Basham, Egan, O’Connell, Baldock, Lundstram, Norwood, Fleck, Stevens, McBurnie, Robinson.
Subs: Luke Freeman, Jagielka, Mousset, Osborn, Clarke, Moore, Besic.
Liverpool: Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane.
Subs: Lovren, Milner, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Origi, Kelleher.
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire).
We're away at the tattiest ground in the league. Come on, you Reds!
The crowd sounds epic in their rendition of the traditional "Greasy Chip Butty" song. Let's hope that the men in black silence them before long.
An early onslaught by Liverpool now - can the Evil Blades weather it? Let's hope not.
McBurnie is sprung and he runs directly at goal before warming the hands of Adrian with a decent effort.
Good Morning, Bob. Here to join you for the matches. How was your week?
The announcer said that Liverpool have not won at Bramall Lane in the Prem era. That should change today
A rare occurrance . Raining in South Yorkshire. Does that match the mood of the city?
That's now twice that McBurnie has broke down the left, catching TAA too far upfield
McBurnie is on his bike again. But Three Names gets back well. It's clear that the Chris Wilder's main strategy is to absorb pressure and then get McBurnie in behind the advancing TAA.
An early season playoff six pointer is currently in progress as it's QPR vs the Baggie
Morning, MUR! It was a busy week but I'm happy to have your company for a morning of the good stuff. How are you, Elizabeth and the kids?
Obviously I'm hoping for a draw. We've got the Baggies at Elland Road on Tuesday. That one is being televised on the Plus.
TAA is forced to clear away for a corner, which goes to the Evil Blades. O'Connell heads wide off the corner. Hendo was down off a challenge with Enda Stevens , but gets up and continues
Liverpool have been sucked into playing the Evil Blades game here. Lots of long diagonals going from the full-backs. Not really the way that Klippity Klop usually likes to play.
Doing well. Had a tough day yesterday, going to the beach then having seafood and drinks. A real tough life!
Liverpool have enjoyed 76% of possession so far, but hey’re struggling to do anything with it.
Leeds's' promotion six pointer at Banjo Boy's lads not on Plus, but the one on Tuesday is
I'm really happy for you, mate - that sounds great!
Ooh - I had forgotten about the Banjo Boy angle. That'll makes things feisty.
Wijnaldum has a shot deflected for Pool's first corner of the match
Thanks, mate. Hope you and the LOBers can come down one time for some fun at the beach
That sounds like a plan. I'll be in Austin in November for a conference - just a wee bit too far north.
Two Championship matches yesterday. The Cottagers defeated Wigan yesterday and Forest are surprisingly top after a 2-3 win at surprisingly second from bottom Stoke. Surely that is temporary for Forest
Oh - Robinson has a strike at goal. Well wide but the Evil Blades are giving their supporters something to sing about in this first half.
That's about 325 miles North, but if I was visiting Melanie that weekend then we would be about 35 miles apart. Perhaps I could plan a visit and pop in to see you for a short chat or some/
Forest are on an impressive run of three wins. We need to get back to winning ways today at Charlton.
Morning Boys
Sorry I'm late
It says it's 59 degrees and feels like 56. That's wintry compared to us .
Not really clicking for Liverpool yet - another TAA cross goes a begging.
Good morning, Dave. No probs. Glad to enjoy the pleasure of your company.
Hibs have taken the lead at home to Celtic
Morning, Rip Van Winkle - how are you, mate?
RVW here...doing well after a busy week
And Celtic have tied it up
The Evil Blades making it tough for Pool to play as they will for many visiting teams this season.
Oh - first decent chance for Liverpool. Salah sneaks a shot in with his left peg. That could easily have crept in the corner.
That must be the Scots League Semi. Both Glasgow vs Edinburgh,
That was almost a great cross there by the Blades...just cut out by VD
Busy one here, too - if only we could all be living the MUR life going to the beach and eating seafood with the missus.
The Beeb says it is the Scottish Premiership.... I can say Premiership Bob because it is!
Despite lots of huffing and puffing, the only save I remember either keeper making was the early one from McBurnie straight to Adrian and onely one corner a piece for each team
NEXT YEAR!
Correct, Dave. It's a Scots Premiership match. The Scots actually call it the Premiership. They and the USL have the Championship, L1 , and L2. Who are they copying???
Rugby Update
Hosts Japan shocked World #2 Ireland
"Up and coming USA" lost 45-7 to England
It was fun at the beach and at the Seafood place. You will enjoy that life, UWS.
I know they do... England DON'T ....that's why I give Our Bob the business about calling it the wrong thing!
The rain has stopped at Brammall Lane and now the sun is so bright that Henderson has put on a baseball cap.
Keep giving me the business, mate. I still want to call it The First Division!
WOW ! That win by the host nation is a massive upset.
Mane in.... muffed his lines!!
Oh - big chance for Mane - that would have settled the nerves. Scooped it wide.
What kind of finish was that!
OH!! Nice long ball from Van Dyke found Mane and Mane OH Mane. He misses a sitter, with just the United loanee keeper to beat
Some concerted pressure leads to Robinson rifling one wide. Liverpool are starting to put some pressure on the Evil Blades now.
It's 0-0 at Loftus Road as it is at Bramall Lane.
Real top of La Liga as Valencia is one up at Athletic Bilbao early in the second half.
Liverpool sure don't have their shooting boots on.
Long may that continue
I like Klopp(I wanted him to go to OT)
I like the way Liverpool play
I hate City
But I can't bring myself to rooting for them to win the league. United fought all the way back from 18-7 down to take the lead 20-18!
If Liverpool win, they'll more and more
It's all a bit scrappy.
That scoreline in the Championship suits me to a tee.
I agree 100%, UWS. I wanted Klopp at United because he reminds a lot of SAF in terms of management style. I could see Citeh and Pool alternating titles if Pool won.
Klopp would have been an excellent boss at OT.
This Liverpool side has some similarites to those title winning United sides.
Oh - a great break by Liverpool ends with Mane hitting the post!
Firmino should have shot but passed it to Mane who hits the woodwork then has another chance that is blocked
I'm not sure how the Evil Blades have survived this first half without conceding. Liverpool haven't been great but they should be 0-2 up at least.
Mane OH Mane! Had did he miss that . Great work by Salah and Bobby Chompers and Mane hits the post from two yards out
Stoppage time now - this half has whizzed by.
I'm sure Pool will, score in the second half.
Useless corner by United
Don't know why it surprises me still
A minute of stoppage time as McBurnie headed on a cross that was headed out for a corner by Matip.
Fabinho was knobbled there. He's down for the count.
Pogba wants to double his wages at OT
Did you see him play against Rochdale!!
POGPANTS
HT
Fabinho down off an awkward fall. He's up and it's 0-0 at the half.
Peep peep - that will be music to the Evil Blades' ears. They're just hanging on but will be happy to go in for the half time cuppa goalless.
DOUBLE??? How about he double's his playing performances first???
It's 0-0 at the half at Loftus Road, which is music to Bob's ears.
Man Utd Women are hosting Liverpool Women
After the hour mark, still Nil Nil but United are on top
This is United's third game of the season. They have lost both of their first two games 1-0 but to last seasons' top two City and Arsenal
How about that for a start to the season as a newly promoted team... City, Arsenal and Liverpool!
The second half is underway from Bramall Lane
Off for the second half
71st minute...United open up their league scoring account and take the lead
That's a respectable start and a tough schedule to start the season. Their first ever top flight season?
The Evil Blades broke down the left, but Van Dyke was back in time to block for a corner
WAY HAY! A great way to score their first ever top flight goal.
Back for the second half with the official brekkies of the LOB.
Just saw that the Madrid Derby kicks off at 3 This afternoon. Winner goes top.
Welcome back and a great choice.
I've been enjoying how poorly Barca have been doing in the league.
The Evil Blades win a corner and Hendo is down for the second time this match. Collided with Matip.
Matip has a problem now after a clash. Loads of Liverpool subs up warming up.
That is a surprise . Sadly I picked them and they're not helping me in my battle to avoid relegation.
OH!!! McBurnie out jumps Adrian as he heads over from the corner
Kate and I were watching a PBS documentary about the Hatfield/McCoy feud this week, as Kate is a McCoy. Scott McBurnie would have fit straight into that doc.
Baggies just took the lead
The Baggies take the lead at Loftus Road. Nathan Ferguson with the goal
The Baggies are now top and Leeds down to third , pending the result at Banjo Boy's lads.
Bugger! Not good. Let's hope QPR can come up with an equalizer.
Surely, Liverpool should have had a penalty. Horrible foul in the box. What's the point of VAR?
Wasn't watching the pen shout
Was it? This bloke thinks it was
Currently , the Baggies and Leeds where I picked them to be. That would help me in the PPP.
Tasty free kick opportunity now for Liverpool.
Pool have a free kick due to a push by Chris Basham on Salah.
I thought it was 50/50.
TAA scored off a training pitch routine free kick last weekend. Can they pull one out of the manual again?
Not this time - a real waste.
Horrible free kick from TAA lands in Row M.
Cometh the hour , cometh the changes as Mousset is on for Callum Robinson.
Origi getting ready to come on. Who will he replace?
Origi on for Hendo as Jack O'picks up a really stupid booking for delay of game as Hendo tried to get the ball.
Decent shot there turned around by Adrian.
Adrian does well to turn around along range effort from Ollie Norwood on an Evil Blades break.
Klopp going balls-out with that substitution. He wants the win.
Only one Hen do on the pitch now. He' s on loan from Man United
The Blades should have scored there!!
Fleck and John Lundstram with close range efforts blocked.
Oh - great defending there from Robertson. Saved a certain goal.
Wynaldjum is caught there and there's another free kick.
Mousset fouls Wijnaldum for a Pool free kick
Let's hope they don't bugger this one up.
Comes to nothing. Their best option was a cross aimed at Mane?
GOAL! Liverpool are finally in front, courtesy of a howler from Henderson!
Liverpool have scored!
Right thru the keeper's legs!
Oh dear!
First shot on target !
Man Utd W score a 95th min penalty and beat Liverpool 2-0
Wynaldjum's shot was low and hard but it should still have been a routine save. Though the legs horribly. Couldn't happen to a more rubbishy football club. ha ha!
GOAL !!! LIVERPOOL TAKE THE LEAD WITH THEIR FIRST SHOT ON TARGET OF THE MATCH. A HOWLER BY DEAN HENDERSON ON THE A VOLLEY FROM WIJNALDUM. CROSS FROM ORIGI HEADED OUT AND A VOLLEY FROM WIJNALDUM FROM THE D
Mane straight to Henderson
Now a comfortable save by Henderson from Mane.
Great story about the McCoys . LOL about McBurnie. Scottish like the McCoys?
Leeds will start in 3rd, with Forest and WBA ahead of us. Charlton have now been pushed back into 9th.
Valencia win 0-1 at Athletic Bilbao, meaning the Madrid Derby later today is winner take all.
That Liverpool goal was against the run of play, but like the United of old, grinding out a win when not playing well.
Chris Wilder is rolling the dice, taking off Norwood, a midfielder, and throwing on another striker.
Leon Clarke , at age 34 , making his Prem debut as he comes on for Olly Norwood, giving the Evil Blades an extra striker.
Salah one on one... saved
Made up for his mistake
Oh - Salah was in there one-on-one with Henderson and he saves well.
OH!!! Salah put through on a defensive error and Henderson makes up for his error as he makes a kick saver as Salah was clean through
Liverpool about to extend their club record consecutive top flight wins to sweet sixteen?
McBurnie wins a corner. He is a nuisance.
One of the McCoy's wins an Evil Blades corner
Sheffield Utd sure give it a go...just like Norwich
According to Bob, in this match, the Hatfield's on top at the McCoy's Ranch?
Enda Stevens down as he appeared to twist his ankle on a tussle with Salah.
Adrian booked for time wasting. Rocky will not be pleased.
Baggies double their lead at Loftus Road
BTW, it's not called Loftus Road anymore. It is named after a fan that died
Still Loftus Road to me
Agreed. The Evil Blades cannot be faulted for lack of effort despite having less quality than the Canaries.
ooh, how did Clarke not bury that!
Oh - Clarke should have equalized - blundered it over.
I bet that would have been called off by VAR
surely he was a toenail closer
The Baggies definitely top as I picked them to be in the PPP.
Liverpool last won at Bramall Lane in 1990. Have been winless in six visits since.
Milner on for Bobby Chompers as Klopp adds one to the LUFC Academy factor to the delight of Bob.
Firmino off and Milner on - bolting the door Italian style.
I have VD and Three First Names in my fantasy team
Do I want them to keep their shut out?
I was the only 4-0 team until I lost my last two!
It with the boys and their friends.
They invited my friends Dick and Walt (Bob was too busy)
Walt's team name
Me Know Nuthin 'bout Soccer
Dick's team name
How Much Time is Left?
Sadly, they are both doing quite well!!
Billy Sharp heads well wide of a cross from Baldock. A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes
Four minutes of stoppage time to come. Blow up, ref!
Bob doing everything he can to kick start Desmond to Loftus Road.
YOU'RE A WHITE NOT A RED(BLACK)
Still 1-1 at Easter Road... 2 of the 90 to go
Those are some humorous team names and not title winning names, but it's all about results.
I'm PPP til I die!
Geez!
Liverpool can count themselves fortunate if they hold on to win
The Ox on for Mane now. Not really his day.
The final roll of the dice from Klopp and a stoppage time substitution to annoy UWS as the Ox is on for Mane.
Wahay! Liverpool keep rolling along with 7 wins to begin the season. And I'll be top of the pops again this week.
That is it
Liverpool 21 out of 21 points
Well played SU
I am off for walkies
It's over at Bramall Lane and Pool win 0-1 only because of a goalkeeping error. Stay top with a perfect record and a club record sweet sixteen consecutive top flight wins.
The Baggies win 0-2 at Loftus Road to go top.
I'm off on walkies as well.
Back from walkies and ready for the 10 AM matches.
Got Soccer Saturday on and ready for the 10 AM action.
I am back from walkies as the teams come out at the Bridge

We are off at Bridge
They're off from SB
Oh dear... Brighton have NEVER scored at Chelsea!
That's hard to believe! EVER?
Derby take early lead
Terrible week for Derby losing their captain to car crash and out for season
The Rams take the lead vs Brum after a disasterous week
Love the banter on SS
Chelsea win a corner and the Mount one in . it's headed out and a tame volley is wide.
The starting XI for the Leeds boys at Charlton:
Kiko, Alioski, White, Stu Dallas, Cooper, Kal, Shackleton, Klich, Costa, Harrison, Bamford.
Just the one change there - Pablo is injured so the speedy Portugeezer is in in his place.
Swansea take early lead vs Reading
Still scoreless at the second Claret and Blue derby of the season
That is hard to believe. I Guess the Seagulls haven't had many visits to SB
Salford behind early to Forest Green
Swans in the lead vs Reading and Forest take the lead at Salford. Green that is
When is Pulisic going to get a match?
Lamps must not rate him...what a shame after a big move
The Orient Express takes the lead vs Port Vale
Finally have the Soccer Saturday link up - loving it.
Wednesday take the lead at Boro on Saturday
Brill Bob
I LOVE being able to watch it...clearly and legally
Any idea about the little men shaped pins the boys in the SS studio are wearing? Charity thing?
Bournemouth and West Ham both losing midweek in the cup to lower league teams playing each other today
