Lakenheath Old Boys

We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

It didn't take long. Goalmouth scramble and Sargent bundled in the first US goal in under 60 seconds. 1-0 Nats!

This facility in the Caymans looks like the LHS football field. What is CONCACAF doing here?

7:47 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

They've draped traps over the running track, but it looks like a moat to keep the Cubans from running away

Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good Evening, Steve. Thanks for getting us started,

7:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cuba's national stadium is under construction, so they are playing their home matches at the Cayman Islands.

The set-pieces from the US miss a player that can take a set piece. The ones searing for a player to run on to are being hit at ankle height, and the shots on goal are just as poor. Someone must be better.

Free for the Cubans coming up.

Danny Lovitz commits a foul about an inch outside the corner of the U.S. box

7:51 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Free kick headed out for a Cuba corner

7:52 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Corner taken short and a Cuba player is offside

7:52 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Supposedly, the attendance vs Canada was 420. I would estimate 100 people in attendance for this match

7:53 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Aha, You mean Havana Jr. High's field has a previous commitment tonight. No other park space going spare while the builders are in?

7:54 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

OH! Guzan forced to save a deflected effort. How is the U.S. struggling against one of the worst sides in the world

7:55 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

100 must be including the 22 on the pitch.

Guzan gets doen sharpish to save McKennie's touch

7:55 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Then a cross from Jordan Morris goes to McKinnie and out for a corner. Off the corner a blocked shot, then a shot cleared off the line then Arriola shoots about an inch wide. That's more like it

7:56 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

A mad scramble in the Cuban area that wouldn't go amiss in a non-league match and the US come away with nothing.

7:57 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Also including the coaching staffs, and the ball boys. So about 50 in the bleachers

7:57 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Hiya, Al-Prez. Welcome aboard. I'd take one of the holding middies and maybe one of the back 4 off to ensure we give these mugs a real pasting.

7:59 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now I know why the match Friday was played in Orlando. It's not too lengthy a flight to the Caymans.

7:59 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Good evening. Steve. I agree. Not need to be cautious against these numpties

8:00 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Did you say adios to Mo Po?

8:00 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Attendance can't be being helped with that great honking moat around the pitch. And the wading pools at the ends. Though the Cayman Islanders there may be non-swimmers.

8:01 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !! JORDAN MORRIS PUTS THE U.S. TWO UP OFF A LOBBED PASS FROM MCKINNIE. WAS ONE ON ONE WITH THE KEEPER.

8:03 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Yes, and bom dia hopefully to that insufferable little walking personality disorder Little Joe.

Morris with a cool finish for the USA's second.

8:03 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Looks like more fans are in attendance , so there may be 100 actual fans

8:03 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Little Joe the bookies favorite to take over the Spuds. Raffa second favorite.

8:04 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Aaron was a Long way off with the header from that corner

8:05 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Any alligators or sharks in that moat?

8:05 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Probably Caymans in the moat. Not the islanders, the snouty toothy kind you make into belts.

8:08 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Thanks for the update. That helps.

8:09 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Danny Lovitz pushes one of the Cubans . They've been trying to injure our players this entire match and he's had enough and the ref finally books one of these thugs

8:10 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

that number 5 is a nasty piece of work. Well worth a ticket.

8:10 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

How was that not a free kick. Josh Seargent tripped just outside the Cuba box with just the keeper to beat. Should have been a free kick and early bath in the moat

8:12 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Foul on Sargent not given. No salesmanship from him so the free goes begging.

8:13 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Lovitz now brutally tripped by Carlos Rodriguez. How was that not at least a booking?

8:14 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

And another foul from the Cubans. Referee needs to sack up and stop it.

8:14 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Header from Roldan off the free kick well tipped over.

8:14 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Instinctual save from Sandy the keeper. He's the only Cuban that rates a name on his shirt.

Oh, Morris walks in a looper of a cross for the 3rd of the night.

8:16 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

GOAL !!!! CROSS FROM AARON LONG OFF THE CORNER TUCKED AWAY BY JORDAN MORRIS FROM ABOUT A FOOT OUT. THE CROSS TOOK A WICKED DEFLECTION.

8:16 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

U.S. now three up.

8:16 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Clever of Morris to bring that ball down and recirculate it. Too clever for anyone to see what he had in mind.

8:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Sandy is the only Cuban that can take anything resembling pride from this match. The rest should be too ashamed to even look at themselves in the mirror

8:17 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

It's really Summer like humidity so hopefully these amateurs will wilt in the second half and the U.S. can win by double figures

8:19 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Do you think Sandy rates a name on his shirt because he's the busiest player they have?

8:19 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Now a nasty trip by their number 10. Why is the ref letting them get away with bloody murder?

8:20 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Any of the Cubans play outside of Cuba? Footmob app doesn't care enough about this to post the squad.

8:20 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

A minute of stoppage time.

8:21 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

One plays in the U.S.l. for Reno and one plays in the Dominican Republic. I will check at the half to see if anyone else does

8:22 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The U.S. three up at the half and will be playing in the Nation's League tournament this Summer

8:23 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Nice. Play it to Guzan's wrong foot with one of their forwards bearing down on him. What donkey played that ball? Ream?

8:23 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

0-3 to the US. Berhalter likely has calls holding from the managers of Shalke, Bremen, and Newcastle to sub off McKennie, Sargent, and Yedlin before they get crushed by one of these narkey Cubans.

8:36 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

second half underway from Lancer Stadium in Georgetown , Cayman Islands, not D.C.

8:39 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

The Semis for the Nation's League Tournament this Summer are Mexico vs Costa Rica and U.S. vs Honduras

8:40 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Did we introduce subs at the half?

8:42 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I did some research and Believe it or not some Cuban National team players play their footie outside Cuba. Four play in the Dominican Republic, one in Guatemala , and in the U.S.L. for Reno. The rest play in the Cuban League

8:42 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

There is also one that plays in the Panamanian League

8:42 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I don't think there were any changes at the half.

8:43 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

I'm not surprised. I don't think there's any level of play in the DR, or Guatemala above basement. And these mugs are more physical than you'd fancy LHS against, but skill for skill, we'd give them a match. Dave wouldn't be walking afterwards, but we'd score.

8:45 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Ta. Sargent went missing from the start of the second and I ws wondering.

8:46 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Agreed, Steve. Not sure if Dave would even want to play these mugs. Don't think Kathy fancies him being on crutches for several weeks.

8:46 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Sargent was AWOL and will be in solitary confinement for a month!

8:48 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Boom-boom, Al-Prez.

8:49 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

Cheers, Steve.

8:50 PM
Blogger manunitedrules said...

I need to leave to go to a tutoring job. It's been great chatting with you and have a great rest of the week. CHEERS!

8:54 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Fodder thrown on against Cuba for Yedlin. Stevie Bruce made a convincing Plea at the half

8:54 PM
Blogger gooner71 said...

Cheerio. Thanks for joining me.

Hiya, guys - sorry I missed out tonight. It looks as if it was a good performance by Greg Berhalter's boys.
