Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

I am here but out and about
Burnley and Sheffield Utd have wrapped up a 1-1 draw, with the Blades scoring late on to secure a point. Still, that's a decent result for United and the others chasing European spots.
Newcastle and West Ham have just kicked off. Newcastle are safe on 42 points. West Ham are still in amongst it, on 30 points and desperate for a win today.
Good morning, Bob.
GOAL !!!ANTONIO GIVES THE HAMMERS THE LEAD
That goal was due to a comedy of errors that will not be amusing Brucie nor have him singing his players praises. Joel Linton failed to control a pass from Shelvey and the Hammers passed from the back culminating in Declan Rice finding Jarred Bowen wide right and his pass was missed by a Toon defender giving Antonio an easy tap in
Bob will be pleased to read that the Swans defeated the ugly ducklings 2-1 , keeping the Swans slim playoff hopes alive
I woke up just before halftime of the early match and missed the first goal in the loo and missed the second one due to walkies
Ogbonna concedes a free kick to the Toon in a great position
Flappy pushes away a free kick from Dwight "Crystal" Gayle that went under the wall
Almiron with a shot blocked for a Toon corner
Corner headed away
GOAL !!!ALMIRON TIES IT UP FOR THE tOON WHICH IS MUSIC TO bRUCIE'S EARS
The goal came about due to a fifteen pass possession that culminated in a ball played wide wide right to Krafth and his pass into the box was diverted in by Almiron from a few yards out
Flappy flaps at a Toon corner and it's cleared away
Jordan Hugill gives QPR the lead at the Riverside, leaving Evil Neil's lads in the bottom three, pending Wigan's points deduction
Time for drinkies at a sunny SJP
Joe Linton with a stupid foul by the Toon corner flag
Free kick from Jarred Bowen headed away then fisted away by the Toon keeper
Dubravka with a last second kick save from JArred Bowen . He saw it at at the last second
QPR is one up at the half at the Riverside
Dwight Crystal Gayle booked for a foul from behind on Antonio
The free kick from Aaron Cresswell is off of Manquillo for a Hammers corner taken short. The cross is headed away then the return cross is headed by Antonio straight to Dubravka
Isaac Hayden down with what appears to be an injured hammy against the Hammers
He's off for treatment and appears to be able to continue
Hayden down again . He should be substituted
He is but I haven't a bloody clue who came on for him and Sky and NBC isn't about to tell us
Into stoppage time. A trio of those stoppage time minutes
According to FOTMOB, former Spur, Bentaleb, came on for the injured Isaac Hayden
Two Toon players down now. Almiron and what looks like St. Max
Almiron up , St. Max about to get up and Joe Linton being deservedly berated by Brucie
It's 1-1 at the half at SJP
Bob will not be pleased that the Baggies have taken an early lead against the Tigers. Charlie Austin with the goal
The second half is underway from SJP
Ogbonna clears a pass from Krafth for a Toon corner
The corner from Shelvey is headed well wide by Jamaal Lascelles
I'm out of the shower and see that the match is at 1-1, goals from Antonio and Almiron.
Morning, David - how are you, mate?
Long range effort from Almiron is a few feet wide
Doing well, thank you for asking. How are you and Kate?
To be honest it was a fairly decent first half
Not at all happy with that Charlie Austin goal; he's single-handedly keeping WBA in this promotion fight.
I had a feeling you would be upset with that goal. Leeds needs to defeat the Potters on Thursday and continue to win football matches
So, as it is, we're a point ahead of WBA with one goal worse off than the Baggies. Brentford are crucially six points back but dangerous as they have +40 GD, ten better than either of us.
WAY HAY! Kevin Stewart ties it up for the Tigers at the Hawthorns. Delighted for Bob
That's the plan, mate. I'm hoping that Stoke won't be on a high after that big win yesterday. They're now one win away from survival in the Championship.
The gratifying thing is that we seem to set out to play the same way - the Bielsa way - regardless of the match, home or away. I expect that we would do the same thing in the Prem, should be get there.
I's so tight at the bottom that Stoke may actually need two wins. They will come to ER motivated on Thursday. Leeds needs to play well and all should go well
Mark Noble on for Lanzini
Joe Linton wins a Toon corner that is caught by Flappy and now the Hammers are on the attack
BUGGER! Hegazy gives the Baggies a 2-1 lead vs the Tigers. Sounds like something that didn't settle well at dinner yesterday
Ryan Fredricks wins a Hammers corner.
GOAL !!!!SOUCEK AT AGAIN AS HE GIVES THE HAMMERS A 1-2 LEAD
Mark Noble curled in a nice corner and it was headed off the bar by Declan Rice and Soucek easily scored with a tap in
GOAL !!!DESMOND AT SJP. SHELVEY WITH THE GOAL
That led to drinkies and now play resumes
That Hammers lead was quite brief. as the Toon kicked off and about twenty passes later a cross/pass from Krafth was blocked and it broke to Shelvey , who played a nice one two with Dwight Crystal Gayle and got behind the Hammers defense to score with a nice finish past the stranded Flappy
Long range effort from Bentaleb lands in Row D. Scoring is not exactly his forte
Jammy Lenko on for the Hammers. He scored the winner off the bench vs Chelsea
He came on for Pablo Fornals
The Baggies lead the Tigers 2-1 at the half
QPR wins 0-1 at Evil Neil's Teesiders
Brucie Brings on Andy Carroll for the ineffective Joe Linton against his former club. We all know why he's on
Dubravka pushes way a powerful shot from Jammy Lenko from the D
Ping pong in the Toon box then Soucek scoops a shot just over
Jarred Bowen wins a Hammers corner
Into stoppage time. A Barber Shop Quartet of those minutes
I t finishes Desmond , which is a decent point for the Hammers and are probably a couple of wins from being safe
WAY HAY! DESMOND AT THE HAWTHORNS THANKS TO A GOAL BY MALIK WILKS
That would have been a lovely final score but the Baggies have got a third! Curses!
Still half an hour to play at the Hawthorns - come on, you Tigers! Get it done for your Yorkshire cousins!
Back from Sparky's second walkies and they're off from Anfield in what is a thankless task for Villa
Sounds like a right old ding dong at the Hawthorns . Is it the altitude?
Hey Guys... just a quick pop in....before I lose my laptop for Tom's studying
A draw would be best at the Hawthorns....but does it really matter!
During a walk with Kathy today, I was being annoying and quizzing Kathy about footer
Somehow Aston Villa came up... and without thinking it I said that Villa are NEVER called by their first name but are called by their second name!!! You NEVER say Aston without Villa but often say Villa without Aston
I never thought of it before. I tried to think of any others...Leyton Orient?
Any others?
That green and black Villa kit looks like something from a hangover thirty years ago. Surely that would not meet Kate's approval for the exterior of the house
Welcome back, Dave. That's a great question. Trying to think of other teams that go by their second name
Man and Sheff United don't count. You have to say both because of the other two teams in the city
How about Sheffield Wednesday. Their fans always call them Wednesday. Does that count?
I just thought of one!!!
YIKES! The Baggies take a 4-2 lead
Grady Dianganna, on loan from the other west team, with the goal
I don't think that counts...it is only because of the other team in the city. I know Wednesday is a unique name
If you say United....it could be anyone
That was why I picked Wednesday, but I agree with your assessment
The other one I just thought of
Crystal Palace
Jack Grealish down for Villa. The last thing they need is to lose him during the run in
Manchester, Sheffield and Bristol...any other city that have two teams named after the city and need the second name to establish the team?
I also thought of Palace as going by both names even though they do sometimes go by their second name. I'll give you that one
Isn't Leyton Orient named after the London borough of Leyton? Just wondering.
I am not sure that you really get my point...NO ONE EVER says my favorite team is Aston....my favorite team is Crystal
But you would say Villa or Palace
Dunno but you never say Leyton...but you would say Orient
It's a return to Anfield for Pepe Reina, who played for Pool back in the day.It should be a rather unpleasant return
I was just kidding Dave. You deserve credit for Orient. I was a tad picky.
Are there any more?
Port Vale are a possibility.... I don't think Vale is used much outside of it's fans.... but they are NEVER called Port
There might be , but I'm drawing a blank. There might be in other countries such as Borussia Dortmund or Monchengladbach. Is that on the right track
Vale should count
Port Vale may have been a canal port during the industrial revolution. Not sure about that
Free kick from Jack Grealish is headed into Row H by Courtney Hause , who was not exactly like a Hause on fire
West Brom has Hegazi sent off
He scored the third goal and sounds like something that gave me indigestion last night
Full time at the Hawthorns and the Baggies win 4-2
Sorry, Bob, but as long as Leeds win their matches they will be promoted
Win 4 out of 5 will do
Villa had a chance to break but the new law in the game is that you have to go backwards and sideways first before you go forward
Did you see the stat after yesterday's match....United's front three have outscored Liverpool's front three in all competitions
56 to 53 I think
I want Liverpool to lose at home....or at least drop points!
I do not want them to go 100% at home...they are close !
They only have Burnley and Chelsea on the docket after this one
Agreed, Dave. We don't want Liverpool to get that record.
LOL. Not sure if it's a law or the managers will lose their coaching badges if they don;t play that way
Grealish down again for Villa. That's the last thing they need in what has been a creditable first half performance
He hobbles off for treatment as play resumes
Coming up to half time and Tom needs my computer
Come on Villa!
Have a good rest of the day
Long range effort from John MCGinn lands in Row F midway between the goal and the corner flag
Cheers Dave! Enjoy the rest of the day
It's 0-0 at the end of a dreadful half
Shame about that Baggies win. It matters because Brentford are the form team, having won five matches on the trot. If they continue on that form for the run-in, it's hard to imagine their not getting into one of the two top spots. So that's either us or West Brom.
GOAL! Curtis Jones puts Liverpool 2-0 up over Villa. The youngster scoring his first goal for his club at the Kop End. What a moment!
