Europa League Final - Inter v. Sevilla Live!
Hiya, boys! I'm just back from work and settling into my favorite comfy chair to enjoy this evening's Europa League Final. Five-times winners Sevilla take on three-times winner Inter tonight. Remarkably, this is the first meeting of these two sides in European competition but one of them will leave the Stadion Koln tonight with what I reckon is the most attractive of trophy in football.
It's a classic European night and should be spicy affair. Join me for all the fun from 3pm onward on the CBS.com stream.

Wahay - I've got the CBS All Access stream going strong with Carradona and Roberto Martinez chattering away with Kate Abdo.
Good Afternoon, Bob. I have the link going too and am sitting in mu usual blogging spot.I'm rooting for Inter

Everything is well a la casa . How are things at the Cottage?
Doing okay, mate. I had a couple of skin tags removed from my eyelid this morning, so my eye has puffed up a bit but should be back to normal by Sunday. This is my last weekend beforet the hurly burly of the semester starts.
Hi Boys
I am around for most of the match before I have to pick up Kathy
I've just noticed that we haven't yet seen a penalty shoot-out in any of these knock-out games and relatively few matches that have gone to extra time. Let's hope that continues tonight.
Hiya, Dave - how are things out your way?
I'll just listen to the match on 5Live, talksport or FotMob
Things he are well....should have been United today!
Wishing you well with the new semester . I received a copy of a lengthy email sent to the students by the Texas State University president. She stated that everyone has to wear a face covering in and outdoors unless alone. No gatherings, of more than ten, and named UNC, Notre dame, and another university as examples of what happens if the rules aren't followed. Basically stated that there will be lots of things shut down once cases start due to not following the rules. Your thoughts?
Good Afternoon, Dave. Agreed. United should have defeated Sevilla if they were only half decent on Sunday
Teams out on the pitch now.
Bob, hope everything with your removal recovers sooner rather than later .Hope you feel better
Just to let everyone know that I will be typing slower than normal because I have a wrap on my typing hand due to an injured bone by my thumb. Please be patient with me today
The 2020 EL Final is underway
Hope you're okay David!
Kick off on talkSport
We're underway in Koln!
Competition specialists! Peter Dreary must be joking. Won it under different managers. I think Dave mentioned that last Sunday
If Sevilla win tonight, they will have won the competition double the next best
Thanks, David - it's no big deal.
Inter.....get a penalty!!
An early penalty conceded by Sevilla for the second game in a row!
The radio says it should be a red card but only a yellow
PENALTY INTER ON THE BREAK . DIEGO CARLOS CONCEDES ONE FOR THE THIRD MATCH IN A ROW.TRIPPED THE CHUNK SECONDS AFTER SEVILLA WERE ON THE ATTACK
Penalty to Inter! Lukaku was on his bike and he was hauled over by Dielgo Carlos.
Diego Carlos booked for that as it occurred inside the box, not outside
Lukaku to take...one nil!!
GOAL !!! THE CHUNK GIVES INTER THE LEAD WITH A WELL PLACED PENALTY
34th goal for Lukaku.....I never wanted him to leave!!
Lukaku takes and...scores!
Inter 1-0 up!
Does this make Diego Carlos a specialist???
Hiya lads, I just realized that the game had started. I'd been doing some chores. Just got here in time for Baby Drog's penalty. Was it a good penalty call?
11 straight games with a goal in this tournament!
15 goals
Agreed, Dave. We really could have used his services this season. Can always be counted on for goals despite his work lacking a tad from time to time
Hiya Steve
I'm in the Inter corner
Jeez, the LOB is a catalog of injury. Feel better Bob and David. Dave, there's a hoodoo you and I need to be aware of and be careful of. Cotton wool mate.
Good afternoon, Steve. Yes it was a definite trip and credit to the Chunk for no theatrics. Third match in a row that Diego Carlos has conceded a penalty. That makes him a specialist
We'll see now how Sevilla are able to respond to this.
Thanks Steve and Bob. I think it's a minor sprain that I got when tree trimming. Picked up this hand wrap at a local pharmacy
Afternoon, Steve! Yeah - I thought it was a pretty certain penalty. I was happy with a yellow card for Diego Carlos. No need for a red there.
Sevilla did come from behind on Sun day, but today it's against a cattenaccio defense
The LOB needs a physio!
Feel better, David.
Der Vrij clears a pass from Navas for a Sevilla corner
Still listen to the radio but I have to go in the kitchen to cut up some onions, peppers, olives and artichokes for our home made pizzas cooked on the grill tonight
Both of these teams can do one in my opinion. I probably like Sevilla less because of how defensive they've been in the latter stages. But I remember when Inter storehoused all of those really good South Americans and wouldn't play them because they wanted to rampage forward.
I'd have preferred to see tow other teams, as I suspect you would as well.
GOAL! Great header from De Jong! 1-1!
GOAL !!! DE JONG TIES IT UP. pETER DREARY SCREAMS
Wow! Pick. That. Out. Where was that kind of play in the quarters and semis?
1-1 and this might just be a match.
I think that long possession was off the corner and for once Jesus Navas put in a decent cross and De Jong scored with a well placed header that was off Handanovic's hands
True - Peter Drury seems to have amped himself up for this one - maybe a couple of cans of Monster Energy and some Flaming Hot Cheetos in the booth?
I agree, Steve. I don't really care for these two, but like Dave, I'm rooting for Inter today
That sounds delicious, Dave. I'm putting in an order for a virtual pizza.
Why not - Inter are essentially Man Utd South these days.
That was a thumping diving header. If Dreary is ever going to be justified in that screaming, it was then.
Inter screaming for a penalty there - ref thinks it was unintentional.
I'm going to watch our Toros tomorrow. In the car park that is, but the VIP lot. Will watch on the monster size screen. Payed $20 to bring a car full of people. Can get food or bring our own. Cars will be spaced socially distance, whatever that means
Conte has chatted himself into the ref's book now and he's continued the chatter. Better watch himself.
Conte has talked himself into the book. surprise surprise! Why are we not
That's as justified a yellow for the coach as I've ever seen. Conte needs to get some self control or he's looking at an early bath.
Regulon called that because of regular theatrics. Was obstructed by pasta D'Ambrosio
Nice solo run by Martinez then stopped by a nice last ditch tackle
Martinez goes down in the box now appealing for a penalty. He should have got a yellow. Navas did well and was liviid at him.
There's more playacting in this match than I'm happy with.
Bob may be asking the impossible of Conte. He has little self control
Agreed, Steve. Why are players never booked for playacting?
Now I cannot be called Handanovic after the wrap on my hand. He wasn't exactly Handy Handanovic with that De Jong header
Because that's too harsh. But if there was a 5 minute sin-bin, these mugs would cut that crap out sharpish. I hope that's the next innovation in the game. I'd love a limited bit of 10 or 11 for that kind of behavior.
I meant to say Conte cannot control himself.
That's a great idea. Sevilla may be playing eight against eleven part of the match
Ocampos the latest playactor off a challenge from D'Ambrosio
This Dutch ref is stopping the game too often. Sevilla and Inter are both making large meals of every contact.
The ref is part of why there is so much playacting. If he let things go it would stop part of the playacting.
Sin bins for the prattish behavior. The playacting, the taking off the shirt after a goal. All of the stuff that you look at and your reaction is "really mate?"
Oh - Lukaku was in there but he was shy about shooting for some reason.
Nice run into the box by the Chunk, but not one blue and black striped short up there to support him
I'd like to see players named and shamed and forced to sit a tribunal for diving where they have to face up to what they've done.
I agree, Bob and Steve.. Great ideas. Lot of really mate compared to our high school days
I successfully did some cutting in the kitchen without incident.... the LOB hoodoo is broken
Makkelie was the ref for the City Lyon match and I didn't rate his performance then. We'll see if he goes card crazy in the second half like he did in the City Lyon match.
Bastardoni with an Inter foul about 25 yards from goal
Sevilla have a chance to swing a free kick in and....
De Jong with another great header!
1-2 Sevilla!
Sevilla take the lead....with an apparent nice header by De Jong again
United were far better than this lot..... and now they're going to win it
GOAL !!! NICE FREE KICK FROM NEVER BANEGA AND A SUPERB HEADER BY DE JONG PUTS SEVILLA 2-1 IN THE LEAD. BOTH HIS GOALS HEADERS
This is shaping up to be a great match.
Man, why was De Jong not in the previous first teams for Sevilla? That's another storming header and Sevilla on top. I hope they don't attempt a clampdown now.
Now Inter have a free kick
DESMOND!!
I'm missing a helluva game!!
GOAL! Godin nods in an equalizer and we're at Desmond!
GOAL !!! DESMOND AND THE HATCHET MAN HEADS INA FREE KICK FROM BROZOVIC WITH A FREE HEADER
OK, the commentator said De Jong has endured a 9 game goal drought.
Oh, this is crazy. Godin in for another headed goal.
There have some great matches in this tourney style end of the CL and EL.....are you paying attention UEFA!!!
Is Desmond in the stadium or is he like I will be tomorrow watching on the jumbo screen in the car park?
Dave, do you not have TUDN in your channel line-up?
Peter Dreary said double dutch when it's double De Jong with double headers to be more specific
I have TUDN if anyone needs me to log out
I agree with Dave. I wouldn't mind this style of tourney once the group stages conclude
I really didn't expect this match to be this exciting. A pleasant surprise
TS is saying that Sevilla are looking good....United were so much better than them!
I don't Steve...it is an upgrade channel
Never Banega rolling around and no winder why Steve can't stand him. I don't blame him. I'm sure Steve is pleased this is his last match in Europe.
A very pleasant surprise. These knock-out matches have been excellent.
I can log out if needed. I don't mind
No troubs. I am leaving just after half time to pick up Kathy
She was going to drive herself if United were in the Final
I like taking her each day(MWF)
I just checked and saw that the match on Sunday will be on CBSSN. A pleasant surprise
Well done, Dave. Did you say that she works at a middle school?
Good. Banega gets a ticket. He's irritated me a lot in the quarters and semis.
A minute of stoppage time
Sevilla free kick. Las t chance of the half. Never as always to take it
No, she works at the Student Business office at our local community college. I used to work there
HT in Germany
Keep it up...both of you!
At the college....not the BO
Half-time then - this one is really well poised for more goals in the second half.
Free kick from Banega and a header from Ocampos tipped over by Handanovic and it's Desmond at the half
OK, but I'll keep that in mind Dave. I didn't realize.
Have a safe trip, Dave
take care boys
I am off to pick up Kathy
Talk to you guys on Sunday for the CL Final
The following Sunday for the Charity Shield
Sept 12.... NEW SEASON
TTFN
Sevilla to get us underway in the second half.
Cheerio, Dave!
The second half is under way from Koln
Cheers, Dave!
Would you agree that there has been some great Inter play between the players wearing blue and black stripes?
Another Sevilla free kick due to a theatrical fall
I hope Inter scores quickly now. The scores drawn doesn't inspire Sevilla to try to win inside normal time.
Joe Jordan called for a shirt pull for Sevilla
Ow! David.
Agreed Steve. We need some nice Interplay between their players
LOL, Steve!
Oh - good cross over by D'Ambrossio and it was just teed up there. Shot blocked.
Conte no longer playing not due to his age, but because his foot is always in his mouth. How does he expect to kick a ball in anger?
So many shots blocked. Could he not lift it a bit?
That rocket from Gagliardini was well blocked
BTW and re: Conte, have you ever seen a more successful hair restoration project than his?
Peter Dreary said De Jong has sweet feet. Jim Beglin says he's better with his head. I agree with Jim Beglin
Hard to see a better hair transplant even though Klopp runs a close second
When peter Dreary says conservative does he mean boring?
Oh - Reguilon did so well to get past his man but then took the wrong option blasting his shot into the side netting.
Regulon went for glory , Went past Godin then shot into the side netting from an impossible angle
D'Ambrosio wins a corner off a lay off from the Chunk
Beglin approaches any Arsenal match that he helms as if Arsenal are the strong favorite, and then proceeds to praise the opposition every time a player successfully traps the ball. And launches into repetitive criticism of every unsuccessful Arsenal activity. He doesn't do that in the EL, so I am left with the suspicion that we played a disappointing part of his career.
Long range effort from Yash over several passes after the short corner
I never saw the thinning or pluggy Klopp so I can't comment. Conte's hair looks so good, I'm suspicious that it's a very high quality wig.
Ocampos seems to have a problem with his leg under the strapping. Might be a useful player to replace with Ericksen.
Beglin doesn't like the playacting either.
I've seen pictures of Conte back in his playing days when he was employing a Cyrille Knowles style comb-over. I agree - this one's got to be a high-quality toupee.
Please sub OCampos off. He's irritating me no end.
He can't blame 1989 because he was badly injured in a Mersey Derby in 1987 and really didn't play again for Pool after that. Was part of Leeds Second Division Championship team in 1990. Not sure why he doesn't like the Gunners
Oh dear - Lukaku was through there but shot straight at Sonny Bono in the Sevilla goal.
OH. Lukaku with a clear chance and he can't put it either side of a stranded keeper.
OH! The Chunk put through, but stopped by the on rushing Sonny Bono
Why didn't he take the ball to his left away from the trailing defender and around the keeper?
I wouldn't be surprised if Conte's wearing a toupee.
Ocampos was just as annoying on Sunday. Wouldn't mind seeing the back of him even though he nearly scored in the last second of the first half
Peter Dreary already talking about ET. A tad premature?
That's Ocampos done for the day, then.
I'm left to wonder with Beglin. Maybe he fancied a us for a move and it wasn't reciprocated? We had a fair number of Irish then both seniors and juniors.
Oh good. That's the end of OCampos for this match.
I would say so - I'm still hoping this can be sorted out in regular time.
Ocampos signalling to the bench that he's done and about to be subbed by the equally annoying Munir. Like for like?
I didn't follow that 1980s Leeds side that operated in the Second Division. By the time, I had any access again to the footer after the Dark Ages, Sergeant Wilko had got us promoted and then we were winning the First Division.
Not sure , Steve. It's possible, but Pool were winning everything at that time. He may have wanted to leave for that reason. Lee Dixon was signed instead
Free kick chance now for Inter -
Good ball in from Yash but it was cleared out.
Actually, I think Nigel Winterburn was signed to play his position
Free Kick to Inter
Yeah, Munir not an improvement on OCampos. Don't like either.
Threatening free kick swung into the box looking for Godin's repeat.
Sony Bono punches away the free kick from Yash
Navas is pulled back by Gagliaardini who picks up a yellow. Sevilla can swing another one in toward De Jong now.
Nutty was a great signing. We made the right choice.
Gagliardini booked for holding back Navas
GOAL! Oh - look at that! Diego Carlos with a spectacular overhead and The Chunk steered it in for him. Probably an own goal.
2-3 Sevilla!
Wow. Overhead heroics and Sevilla are ahead again.
Oh no. It's a Lukaku OG
GOAL !!!SEVILLA TAKES A 3-2 LEAD OFF THE FREE KICK. PETER DREARY SCREAMING. OVER HEAD KICK FROM DIEGO CARLOS, BUT WILL PROBABLY BE CREDITED AS AN OG BY THE CHUNK AS IT WAS HEADED WIDE BY AT LEAST A CHUNK
Oh that's nice to see Alexis' hot-pants again.
Conte rolls the dice one last time.
It was poor defending from Inter. Poor defensive header from the free kick from Navas and a miss hit bicycle kick from Diego Carlos off the unfortunate Chunk
Eriksson, Alexis, and Moses on to save Inter's day.
Vazquez on for Suso for Sevilla.Alexis for Martinez Victor Moses for D'Ambrosio and Eriksen on for Gagliardini, the pantemime villain
Much needed attacking changes from Conte
Oh- mad scramble in the Sevilla box. Alexis nearly stabbed home but Conde got it off the line.
Inter have gone over twenty years since winning the EL. Other than the CL in 2010 , lean times for this club
Regulon sounds like the friendly robot who surprise you when he runs amok.
Oh, close for Alexis in that mad scramble.
Dubious honor there for Lukaku - first player to score at both ends in the final.
OH! Off the line by Kunde from Alexis then cleared by Navas. The shot from Alexis lacked power
Definitely an unwanted record for the Chunk
Alexis offside as he thought he won a corner
Limping towards the finish, Sevilla's players are really playacting now. Fernando, have some self-respect man.
It's the walking wounded now for Sevilla - not sure which ones are real and which are feigned. Diego Carlos limping off.
En- Neysri on for De Jong and a farce as Gudelj about t come on for Sevilla and it takes forever for the officials to signal the change. Finally on for Diego Carlos
Agreed. A lack of pride and self respect by the Sevilla players.
No contact, but that doesn't stop a Sevilla player from a long episode of rolling about.
Munir? What's the point, man?
The ref needs to somehow put a stop to this nonsense
Dave saw the best of this match when he left at half-time.
Agreed. The ref is not obligated to stop play unless it's a head injury. He should just wave play on
The final roll of the dice from Conte and an attacking change as Candreva is on for Godin
6 minutes is only the amount of time that OCampos spent playacting.
Oh - Brozovic found himself in a great position at the near post but he couldn't steer it past Bouno.
Half a dozen stoppage time minutes
Cross from Brozovic off Candreva turned around by Sonny Bono
Vazquez down off minimal contact. The ref needs to tell Sevilla to take the free kick and continue on
If Sevilla hold on to win then I'm not going tot watch them lift the trophy
