The Champions League Final
The final game of a very long season!!! Today, the Champions League Final is being played between two teams that were actually CHAMPIONS of their country to qualify for the Champions League. This is the first time that two national champions will meet each other in the CHAMPIONS League Final since 1998!
Join me for kick off at 3

I'll look forward to it. Finally, a match not behind a paywall!
What do you mean Steve?
Lewandowski turned 30 this season.....he just turned 32 on Friday
Coverage starting on CBS AA
The match is on CBS Sports Network...I don't have it without an upgrade
Why don't have these channels and my monthly bill is SOOOO HIGH???
Caradona really annoys me!!
These guys in the studio just scream like little children!!
It's like the guys on TNT and the NBA!
Bayern Munich starting XI
Neuer, Kimmich, Alaba, Boateng, Davies, Goretzka, Alcantara, Coman, Gnabry, Muller, Lewandowski.
Paris Saint-Germain starting XI
Navas, Kehrer, Silva, Marquinhos, Bernat, Kimpembe, Paredes, Herrera, Di Maria, Mbappe, Neymar.
Afternoon, Dave - thanks for getting us going. I"m just finishing up dealing the car before the match. I'll see you at kick-off.
The Car?
Uefa to consider single-game knockouts
Paris St-Germain v Bayern Munich (20:00 BST)
Uefa might consider revisiting the single-game knockout format in future seasons following its incorporation in this season's Champions League.
Football's suspension during the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a revision of the club competition's format in order that it could be completed at all.
Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin said: "We were forced to do it but in the end we see that we found out something new.
"So we will think about it in the future for sure."
Now they are just arguing with each other...really annoying me.... I think it is annoying Fake Becky and Roberto
I'm back - the car and bike are all spiffy looking and ready to go for the new academic year. It's an annual tradition. When I'm oiling the bike chain and Armor All-ing the dashboard, I know that it's time to get back to teaching.
Well done...it's your pre-season ritual!
According to the Guardian, the Mayor of Marselles has banned residents from wearing PSG gear today, for fear of public disorder. Crikey!
Do you have the CBS Sports Network? I would have to pay extra for it
Will all of us be able to watch it in English today?
What are you today? Bavarian or Parisian?
What are you going to do to celebrate not having to go back to school this fall?
The local parents are all up in arms that the Fredonia school district has decided, despite the relatively low COVID numbers, to have Grades 3-12 remote in the fall.
What are you today? Bavarian or Parisian?
I don't have it on my cable system - it's an upgrade - but I think that David and Steve have it, so we should be all sorted.
I'll all in for Bayern - I quite like their side, especially the front line and I'm really irritated by Neymar's antics.
I know that my OLD school district gave choices. I think 60% has decided to be all home for the first semester.
The start has been delayed until Sept 14. Teachers in for training for the full week after Labor Day
I am soon thankful that i don't have to deal with everything!
Same as me
They already get to much of my money!!
Tom had me sign up for a free WEEK of CBS AA today so he could watch it. It is up to them if they want to pay for it after the week
If those two are watching on the box.....they'll know what happens first...I hate the delay on line
Those that are going into school will go home with a lunch. The core subjects taught in the morning
Remote learning in the afternoon
I love it that it is late August....and I don't have depressing feeling
Have the students behaved on the FredTown campus?
Everyone in the panel....pick PSG
Good afternoon everyone. Here to join you all for the CL Final
Welcome David
Are you watching on TV?
Afternoon, David! Welcome!
I think that is odd. Bayern is the more talented side in my opinion.
It is sad that the Champions League Final is played in front of no one!
I am happy that we will actually finish the league season!!
Next season's curtain raiser is a week away as Arsenal take on Liverpool at Wembley!
Thanks, Bob and Dave. Yes I'm watching on TV
It is sad that the Champions League Final is played in front of no one!
I am happy that we will actually finish the league season!!
Next season's curtain raiser is a week away as Arsenal take on Liverpool at Wembley!
I've heard mixed things from colleagues. I stayed away from campus this weekend, because I didn't want to go into tomorrow feeling anxious about it. There haven't been any reports of big off-campus parties, which are typical for this weekend, but I've heard that mask-wearing hasn't been 100%. We'll see.
PSG wearing all Blue
I saw that the Charity Shield is on Saturday with kickoff at 11:30 AM . I'm guessing it will be on ESPN Plus
Bayern all in red
Glad to see it
For once, I agree with Kate Abdo. I was skeptical about the Project Restart plans back in April; but, they've been able to pull it off and complete this season today. That's quite an accomplishment.
The League Cup starts next Saturday as well. Pompey is away to Stevenage
Agreed. It seemed like the season ending was a million miles away just a few months ago
Just looked it up
It is on Saturday on Plus
We have started
They're off from Lisbon
Glad to see both teams in their traditional kits.great to see that
PSG playing the modern way!!
INSANE
Kingsley Coman wins a Bayern free kick
He's starting in place of Perisic
Free kick from Josh Kimmich headed away
I want to see some goals....like the EL Final will do
Agreed, Dave. That's why I think Bayern will win. Like the way they play
Are both teams going for the Treble?
7 out 8 titles
8 in a row
I really don't like leagues like that. I don't want the PL to be like that
It's a duel between two German managers as it was in the semis when PSG won
Which Saturday is the Charity Shield on?
This upcoming Saturday
Agreed. It's more exciting to see different teams winning the league. I don't see that happening with the Prem
Agreed, Dave - I like that the Prem at least has six reasonable title contenders each year. It would be sad if it just rotated back and forth between two teams at best.
Long range effort from Thiago high and wide
Really?! Wow - why are they playing it so early? When does the Championship start?
PSG with a timid start to the match
I think the Charity Shield is just before the start of the international break and the Prem right after the international; break. Everything is scheduled around the international break
I'm guessing the Championship should start around the same time as the Prem
Hi and yes, I have CBS sports in my lineup for free. Not every match we've watched together is on the free list, none of the EL for instance. I'm happy that this final is but I haven't forgotten what a struggle it's been since CBS secured the rights. I hate paywall for soccer. If CBS put even the crappiest NFL match behind a paywall, the execs would have to get their pets Kevlar vests, and would be afraid to start their own cars.
Thiago with a stupid trip on Mbappe
International break? What a laugh. It's the bloody Nations League again.
First chance for PSG now - Neymar will swing one in.
Cleared out.
Agreed, Steve. I have CBSSN free too and am astonished to have been part of that struggle. It would be nice to see NFL on Access instead of the telly.
Agreed, Bob. Ridiculous that everything is scheduled around the bloody Nation's League
i want PSG to lose just because of Di Maria and Neymar...take your pick
I agree, Dave. Those are the two main reasons for me too.
I think they all start on Sept 12
Ander Herrera is a close third
I've got no fondness for PSG. They've led us up the garden path on transfers.
Better from PSG as Mbappe had a close range effort blocked
Oh - Mbappe had a half chance but his shot was blocked out.
Again...let's just scream the shooter's name... not exactly creative
Agreed, Steve. That's all PSG are. Do they even have a youth system? If so none of them graduated to the first team
I hate Ander Herrera but I've been holding it in.
He's a destroyer, like Fabiano, or Ferdnando, and little more than that. He also maimed Holding and didn't even get a card.
Mbappe with another shot blocked...surely....he should have done more
Come on Bayern....get your finger out!
Maybe they're just not that good but Spurs, Chelsea and Barca all just suck!
Kaylor Navas in the PSG goal must surely be the first Costa Rican in a CL Final
Too rich to bother with it. They just steal in and grab up everything promising in their cachment. They're forward thinking about their support for the womens' game which is the only commendable thing I can think of.
Nice double save by Neuer from Neymar. PSG have a corner. Nice pass from mBappe
Neymar misses another chance!!
He can't finish!!!
Oh - Neymar was in there but Neuer did just enough.
Neuer was lucky to keep that out but did great to block the cross
Surprising that PSG is getting so many early chances. Surely Munich have faced better attacking teams and dominated them.
Gnabry sporting a Billy D. Williams tribute 'stach today.
OH! Off the post from Lew from a pass from Alphonso Davies
Finally. Lewa with a chance and it's nearly a goal.
Lewa...hits the post. Didn't hit it that well
Oh - better from Bayern. Lewandowski beats Navas but hits the post!
Serge will be enjoying a frosty Colt 45 post-match if Bayern win this one, eh?
S&D will see everything before B&D because we are on line
Hate all the delay
PSg counter as they beat the BAyern press. Neymar finds Di MAria , whose shot is well over.
I though PSG blew that but DiM gets a second chance...fires over
Oh - Di Maria is in but leans back and blasts it well over. Bad miss.
David Alaba down for Bayern
That was a great pas by Herriera
I think he could have still done well for United
David Alaba down for Bayern. Actually it's Boateng and his final is over as he's replaced by Nicky Sule
The Boat is off hurt.....being replaced
Bob, I want to see a picture of your classroom set up
LOL! Gnabry scoring the winner would be a great tribute to Billy D. He'll be doing lots of celebrating
Boat had to pass a fitness test after coming off in the semi at half time
I agree with Dave that it's great that it's late August and not feeling stressed. It' just as good a feeling as last year
Alphonso Davis booked for a foul on Kehrer. It seemed a really minor foul
Free kick from Neymar headed away then a long range effort from Ander Herrera is well wide
Nice hit by Herriera...should have been a corner
Will do, mate. It's fairly simple - they've just set it up with two chairs per table instead of the usual four or five. They've also marked out a "teacher zone" at the front of the classroom near the monitor podium.
any plexiglass?
WOW! It sounds really well planned,Bob.
That move by DiM was quite lucky!
Are your class sizes much smaller?
Oh, just about there for Lew.
OH!c Close range volley from Lew straight to Navas and batted away
The Big Pole with a header...saved
Oh - Lewandowski was in there again and got a header off - Navas batted it away.
A PSG player is down. Not sure who it is
No - same size. I'm going to have to do A/B/C mode with a couple of them, because I won't be able to fit the whole group in the room at one time.
Ballon D'Or means nothing to me.... I don't give two hoots
Play resumes and Bayern have plenty of talent on their bench. That may be the difference in this final
Ballon D'Or means nothing to me.... I don't give two hoots
That sounds chaotic, but that's the new normal. Will they wait in the hallway social distanced?
I don't follow the balon d'or too closely in all honesty
I was hoping more from Bayern here!
Cross from Coman straight to Navas. He was aiming for either Lew or Thomas Mueller
We're doing longer breaks between classes so there shouldn't be any waiting in the hallway. And I won't be fussed about having to push another instructor out of the way to get in there to set up.
That's good
That makes sense. A good idea for safety reasons, Bob
Naughty by Ander Herrera on Alphonso Davies. Not even booked and his foul was much worse than the one for which Davies was booked
It's going to mean longer days. I've got one class that ends at 8pm and one that ends at 9:20pm.
Give Ander a ticket already. He's a menace and knows what he's doing, committing fouls in non dangerous areas. A ref with this kind of experience should know to ticket that and stamp it out.
Mbappe fouls Kimmich.
Oh dear.... Bayern even do it
Attacking throw in.... back to defender....back to keeper
That does stink....but campus will be quiet by the time you leave
You are working pretty late.
Marquinhos heads out a cross from Lew for a corner on a Bayern break
Let me see.....me...not working!
Goretzka should be a little annoyed that Lew could only produce a cross of that low quality.
Agreed, Steve. The refs have been letting the cheats get away with everything the past few matches. That as well as the diving and fake injuries needs to be addressed and stamped out
I thought this would have goals
That Munich - Barca match really spoiled us.
Mueller gets called for barely touching a player yet the cheats get away with everything
PSG with a huge chance from a big mistake....what a miss from the WONDER KID
Oh, how did Mbap pass up that chance?
Oh - suicidal play from Alaba and PSG squandered the chance.
OH ! Missed sitter from Mbappe. Shot tamely at Neuer from two yards out off a one two with Ander Herrerea. Into minute of stoppage time
Roman goes down looking for a pen - nothing doing from the ref. Looked like a clumsy challenge to me.
That's a penalty. What's the point of VAR if that's not even checked?
i think that was a pen.... not good by the ref!!
OH! I thought the ref awarded a penalty . Grabbed Coman's shirt while he was dribbling. Should be a stonewall penalty. Not given and 0-0 at the half
Why wouldn't he have a look?
HT
Bloody nil nil
And that's 0-0. Plenty of intrigue but no goals as of yet.
That was a definite penalty. Why didn't VAR check. Agreed that there's no point in having it if it's not being used for these situations
Of course.... that is all that Caradona and Richie will talk about at half time
How does Caradona get a job on the telly when he needed subtitles when they had that behind the scenes show for Liverpool
Can't believe CBS payed on this money and didn't put it on the their channel.....they would prefer to show a run of the mill golf tournamentt. I love to watch and play golf but they could make an exception. Right now the leader is -26!! Not much of a course!
Crazy scenes in Paris
We are off for the second half...goals please
DiM fell down and no foul was called
Let's have some goals, boys! Come on!
Back for the second half
Anyone else loving the Alex and Peter duo? Hire them both!
Surprised they approved those mass gatherings in Paris. Perhaps they were afraid there might be a riot if they weren't approved
Mike Nocito is complaining about Neymar's hairstyle on the What'sApp platform. So who has the worst barnet in world football right now?
They're better than the jerks in the studio for sure
Yeah - they're good fun. Would love to see them regularly on the Champions League coverage.
Not sure. There's plenty of bad haircuts out there. How about Conte , if you call that a haircut
Neymar down crying of course
I guess Barca really were second best or less this year if Bayern could just run riot like they did. Otherwise, I don't get why they don't turn it up now and take this match like we expected them to. The longer this lasts, the more likely that little wanker Neymar will have a chance to win this one for Paris.
Neymar down again....he's not hurt
Everyone is acting like little babies
Handbags now after that challenge by Paredes on Gnabry.
A fight breaks out over a foul; by Gnabry on Neymar, who as always, overreacted. Gnabry booked for BAyern and Paredes for PSG for starting it
Any of the number of pint of Guinness do's around.
Long range effort from Goretzka deflected straight to Navas
Neymar gets Gnabry booked. If he's going to fall about like that, why doesn't someone wellie him when they have the chance?
Bayern have not been that positive today. Very disappointing
As for worst barnet, I'd have to go with Antoine Griezmann. I'm not even sure what he's trying to do there. It's atrocious.
Kate Abdo was mentioning that the group stages of the CL start in October, cuing the pushing of CBS paywall streaming video. She said every match will be available on access. Hopefully, at least a few will be televised
Nicky Sule booked for a push on Di Maria, who also is guilty of getting an opponent booked. Barely touched him
By the looks of it....none of them will be for me or Bob
And why doesn't a commentator condemn Neymar as often as he flops about?
Paris are getting yellow cards for too many Munich players. Munich need to stroke in a couple of goals and teach them a lesson.
As you all know this is the first CL Final to be played on a Sunday
Because he's a "star"
Just like all the pundits saying that modern day football is beautiful to watch
IT ISN'T but they have a product to sell
Agreed, Steve. Wonder if the commentators are told which players to give breaks to. They do need to call them out on that
GOAL !!!! KINGSLEY COMAN HEADS BAYERN INTO THE LEAD
GOAL! Roman breaks the deadlock!
YES!!!
Bayern take the lead
YESSSD! High time that these Frenchies paid for their shitty game-plan. Coman unmarked at the back and it's 1-0.
Great cross from Josh Kimmich and great far post header from Coman
Great cross....nice header
Lovely little chipped cross there from Kimmich and Coman could scarcely miss from that range.
1-0 Bayern!
Saw the other day that Jason Cundy, on talksport, said something stupid!
I don't think he believes it but wanted to be controversial... he said he would prefer Chelsea finish top four or win the League Cup than England winning the Euros or World Cup!
I would take United getting relegated for England to win the World Cup!!
Great clearing header
The French player scores against the French club where he started his career. Coman played only four first team matches for PSg before moving to Juve
ooooh, almost a second for the same player
Thats will be especially sweet for Coman as a kid who PSG let get away.
Oh - Coman nearly in there again!
