Monday Afternoon Leeds Action!
I couldn't be more thrilled by the start to the season that my beloved Leeds United has made, with 10 big points toward Premier League survival in the first six matches. Tonight, we host a dangerous Leicester City side on the hallowed Elland Road turf. As Leicester finished fifth last season, we don't actually need anything from this match, as per my patented rubric for league survival. However, I'd love to see us win a point and, more than that, to continue the sparkling play we've shown under Marcelo Bielsa. Come on, you Whites! #MOT!

Good afternoon, Bob. I will be here rooting for Leeds.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
The early match just finished , which was a relegation six pointer between the two sides who partnered Leeds in Promotion. The Cottagers moved out of the drop zone this season for the first time and are now on four points. They are replaced by the Baggies, who are third from bottom on three points
Hey Boys
Again, I will be here for only he first half
Bob.... have you set your DVR for 6?
Hope the same thing happens...the last time I left a Leeds match at half time... I heard 5Live describe a Bamford hat-trick!
Good afternoon, Dave. Hope that's a good sign for Leeds
I forgot to mention the score in that match. The Cottagers defeated the Baggies 2-0 with both goals four minutes apart in the first half
Hiya, boys - I'm just home from my office hours. I cut them short today, for obvious reasons. Yeah - I've got the DVR set for the whole afternoon and evening. It's Leeds Day!
They're off from ER.
COME ON LEEDS! MOT!
Away we go
Come on Leeds!
Still can't believe I am rooting for them....and they're in the same division!
Good afternoon, Bob. It's going to be quite an afternoon/ evening
The teams on display tonight:
Leeds United: Meslier, Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Dallas, Klich, Helder Costa, Shackleton, Hernandez, Harrison, Bamford.
Subs: Poveda-Ocampo, Alioski, Roberts, Casilla, Struijk, Davis, Casey.
Leicester City: Schmeichel, Fofana, Thomas, Fuchs, Albrighton, Tielemans, Mendy, Justin, Praet, Barnes, Vardy.
Subs: Morgan, Ward, Iheanacho, Perez, Under, Choudhury, Maddison.
Referee: Andre Marriner (West Midlands).
I am top of the fantasy table but losing by less than a point to lowly Thomas! I can't believe I am losing to him!
We both have one player playing tonight
Tom has Ayling and I have Dallas
oooh Bamford should have scored!!
STRUTH.... Leicester do score!
Oh - Patrick misses a early sitter!
And then Leicester scores! Curses!
ruddy norah
OH! Leeds should haver scored cross from Helder Costa headed across the box and Bamford straight to Kasper with a free header
Awful back pass!!
Disastrous backpass there from Koch.
BUGGER! Then The Foxes go straight down the pitch and score as Leeds made a mess f an innoucuous long all. Sorry, Bob
That goal counts against Ayling...I am not in the lead!
Now I need a Dallas goal
Lovely weather in Yorkshire
Leeds with a corner....kicks it straight out of bounds and then back in
As soon as Bamford headed straight to Kapser then he threw to Fuchs and his long ball resulted in an horrible back pass from Koch and Vardy passed across the box for Harvey Barnes to tap into an empty net
Early doors - we just need to keep playing our game. But Leicester will just sit back.
That hopeful ball from Fuchs should have been meat and drink for Koch. Really poor from him.
Barnes almost in again
Leeds need to wake up
Barnes was in again there but his touch let him down. Meslier did well.
Foxes up to second, a point behind Liverpool
Great to see Pablo back in the throng. And it's timely as well. Rodrigo is out on a COVID quarantine right now.
Another misjudgement of a long ball from the Leeds defense, but Leeds deal with it this time
Vardy should have got a yellow for that rash one.
YIKES! Didn't know he was involved with COVID
Oh - Great save from Meslier from Barnes.
Meslier did well to turn around a shot from Harvey Barnes from just outside the box. Started with Leeds being caught in possession
I don't think it's a positive case, just a precautionary measure due to possible exposure.
I don't know what the Brodge said, but the Foxes seem to be really up for this match
Oh - Patrick nearly in there on the turn. Good pressure.
Thanks for the clarification. Sounds like he's out due to contact tracing
Better back pass from Koch. This time it was not under Koched
Better from Koch there - he stood up to Vardy well there.
Leeds coughing up the ball far too easily
This match is all over the place. My heart can barely take it.
Dennis Pratt goes on a long solo run off an really Ayling pass, but is stopped by a great slide tackle just outside the Leeds box
Another one for the Foxes!
Your keeper is doing all he can!
Great save but Tielimans nets the rebound
BUGGER ! TIELEMANS PUTS THE FOXES TWO UP. SORRY, BOB
Bugger! Leicester go 0-2 up after Meslier saves from Vardy and Tielemans thumps home.
Another one for the Foxes!
Your keeper is doing all he can!
Great save but Tielimans nets the rebound
The guy says the keeper spills it...no...he saved it!
Leeds lost a tackle yet again in their own half. The ball broke to Albrighton, whose was wide open down the right. His cross was met with a diving header by Vardy who was wide open thanks to Koch. Hos diving header was saved by Meslier and Tielemans easily put away the rebound
I agree. Meslier did everything he could
phew...keeper almost drops a clanger
Ooh - what was Meslier doing there?!
Come on, stop giving the ball away!
We need to get one back before half time.
Can we just start the half again or just have Bamford's header go in
That would have been lovely.
I second that. A shame that header didn't go in. That's an example of where you need to take your chances in the Prem and minimize errors
Oh - nice interplay there with Jack but it just didn't drop for him.
Piss off, Andy!
Oh - a let off there as Helder coughs up the ball in a dangerous area. Meslier behind the Thomas shot.
Poor Leeds clearance picked up by Thomas and he shoots straight at Meslier
Oh - another sitter missed by Patrick!
Bamford with another chance.... He is slipped back to his Championship form....where is his hat-trick form
OH! Nice through by ball by Ayling and Bamford fails to control it as it was easily gathered by Kapser
Unfortunately, Bamford is inconsistent, which you cannot afford to do in the Prem
1990s stand?
I thought it was earlier than that
Thomas gives us a corner now. Come on!
OH! Thomas miss hits a cross for a Leeds corner. Not too far wide of being an OG
Short corner routine didn't work out.
Do they ever?
Bloody short corners
I am now a full point behind
I need a yellow for Ayling or a goal for Dallas
Shut it, Townsend!
And now Helder has won us a corner. Come on!
Helder Costa wins a corner off a productive Leeds possession
Into stoppage time. A minute
Helder wins a cheap one. Last chance of the half.
Fuchs fouls Helder Costa just outside the box.
And it comes to nothing in the end.
Half-time: Well, I was afraid that Leicester might play like this, sitting deep and hitting us dangerously on the break. We haven't been good enough at the back but, ironically, we might be level if Patrick had finished those two golden chances.
0-2.
Free kick Kliched away and the Foxes are two up at the half
HT....sorry mate!
Still another half to go
I am off...best of luck in the second half
IT'S LEEDS TIME
Bielsa has made an immediate change, with Ian Poveda coming on for Shackleton.
Bielsa makes a halftime change . Poveda on . Not sure who came off. Second half is underway
That sounds like a decent change . Shackleton was anonymous in the first half
Shame. Jack got into a good position but then overcooked the cross.
Helder gets onto a long ball and wins a corner. Now then...
YESSSSSSS!!!!!
Stu Dallas swing one in that fools Kasper entirely!
1-2!
WAY HAY! LEEDS PULLS ONE BACK EARLY ON IN THE SECOND HALF. CORNER TAKEN SHORT AND A CROSS FROM STU DALLAS ELUDES EVERYONE AND HE ENDS UP BEING CREDITED WITH THE GOAL
Congratulations, Bob. Game on
Now Stu is booked for a tug back.
It was a bit rash on Albrighton
Oh - Jack was nearly in on that Pablo through ball.
Long ball from Leeds headed out by Albrighton for A CORNER
Oh - now Pablo has curled one onto the angle!
OH! Off the bar from Hernandez. Could have been Desmond
Corner now....
Cleared out.
Cross from Jack Harrison cleared by Thomas for another Leeds corner
We've got the bit between our teeth now.
I agree. It will be Desmond soon
Free kick now won by Helder who's been a threat all night.
Dennis Pratt fouls Helder Costa from behind off a solo run. Should have been booked
The Fourth Prez being prepared to come on.
The Fourth President to come on. Hope it means the 45th will come off.
Klich winds one up from distance - Kasper smothers it.
Long range shot from Klich comfortably saved by Kasper. Not sure it would have been on target
Jack with some great tackling back on Vardy there.
Great stop by Jack Harrison on Vardy
Oh - teasing ball in there from Stu Dallas. Poveda just wasn't sharp to it.
Cross from Stu Dallas just too high for Poveda
The Fourth President on for Dennis Pratt
Tyler Roberts being prepared to come on, probably for Pablo.
Now that change is being made as Tyler Roberts is on for Pablo Hernandez.
Pablo doesn't seem pleased by having to come off. Tore his armband off. Not a good sign.
Oh - a long ball nearly got Patrick in. Kasper did well off his line.
OH! Long ball from the back finds Bamford, but he was too slow and Kapser came out and he cleared off Bamford for a Foxes goal kick
Pablo has finally made it back to the bench, still grumbling to himself.
Harvey Barnes straight to Meslier
Agreed. He doesn't last ninety minutes any longer at this level. Bielsa will have plenty to say to him after the match
Harvey Barnes coming off - glad to see the back of him.
Harvey Barnes off as his replacement come from Under to come on
His replacement, Under, had the assist for the winning goal at the EM eight days ago
Oh - Ayling went down there. On the replay he's obviously anticipated the contact. Should have stayed on his feet.
I thought Fuchs fouled Ayling for a Leeds penalty, but the replay shows it was a dive by Ayling. He could have been booked for that
BUGGER! VARDY PUTS THE FOXES 1-3 UP AS LEEDS DEFNSE WERE TORN APART
Bugger! Another quick break and Vardy finishes. I thought it might just be offside but not.
1-3.
Fuchs passed to the Fourth Pre4sident, who went on a run . He passed to Under in the box and he passed across the box for an easy tap in for Vardy
Big hole to dig out of now. Come on!
Sorry, Bob . I thought so to at at first. Under assisted last week at the EM and today at ER. I'm sure you and Steve will be glad to see the back of him
It's a big hole, but doable
Tyler wins us a corner. We need one to fly in right about now.
Patrick got his head to it but it looped up for Kasper.
Another corner. We're piling the pressure on but we need to make it count.
Gjanni Alioski on for Stu Dallas now.
The final roll of the dice from Bielsa as Ali is on for Stu Dallas
We'll need a goal in the next couple of minutes to have a chance to get this one back.
Now Helder Costa wins a Leeds corner
Phew! Vardy was through again but this time he misses.
PHEW! Under put Vardy through and Melsier did well to come out and turn around his shot
Thomas picks up a yellow for tugging back Poveda. And we have a free kick chance now.
Thomas booked for a shirt pull. Free kick to Leeds near the touchline
Vardy coming off now. Wes Morgan coming on to bolster the defense.
The Brodge shutting up shop as Wes Morgan is on for Vardy
Free kick headed away by Wes Morgan
Albrighton wins a Foxes corner
And Leicester corner flagging it for some reason now. Come on - you're two goals up!
VAR checking the penalty. Long check here.
Ref checking it now.
VAR checking for a possible penalty to the Foxes for that challenge on the Fourth President
BUGGER ! Andre Marriner reviewed and says penalty to the Foxes.
Bugger! It's a penalty. The third one that we've conceded this season. Klich on Maddison. I thought it was outside.
Tielemans to take. A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes
Tielemans to take now....
and scores. 1-4.
GOAL !!! TIELEMANS SCORES FROM THE SPOT AS HE SENDS MESLER THE WRONG WAY, PUTTING IT IN THE UPPER 90
Sorry, Bob. I didn't think it was a penalty and the score flatters the Foxes.
Bamford miss from two yards out, blasting over. Tyler Roberts went on a run and pass. Shot blocked then a pass from Jack Harrison deflected to Bamford for that miss
Full-time: So, it wasn't to be our night. Fortunately, we're still well above the mark that I'd set for us at this stage. We remain in 12th on 10 points from 7 matches. 30 points to get for safety. On to Palace on Saturday.
It's over and the Foxes win 1-4 at ER, handing Leeds their biggest defeat of the season. Sorry, Bob
Thanks for joining me, mate. I'm off to class. I'll catch you tomorrow for the election results.
The Foxes are in second, A point behind Pool
Cheers, Bob. Great chatting . Look forward to chatting tomorrow
