Stay Calm and Fall Back
Morning, everyone - I trust that all of you enjoyed that extra hour of sleep last night. I'm up a bit late and tuning into the last half hour of Villa v. Soton, the early offering on Peacock. Next up is the NBC Sports match of the day, Newcastle v. Everton. Then we've got the big one - Man Utd v. Arsenal - on Peacock. And if that isn't enough, Spurs host Brighton in the late afternoon. Join me through the day, won't you?

Last time out, Villa got hit for three at home to my beloved Leeds. Now they've been hit for four by the Saints, with Mings just getting one back.
Soton have, naturally, taken the foot off the gas in the second half allowing Villa on to them a bit. We've seen some crazy things this season, so a 4-4 draw isn't out of the question.
Ings has it in the net again but he's ruled offside. That is the danger when Villa push forward.
Oh - Mings again threatening the Soton goal. McCarthy was equal to the header.
Ings is down with a problem now; they can scarcely afford to lose him at this moment.
Morning Boys
I haven't tuned in to the early match. I am just listening to 5Live.
They just said some sad news that it has been announced that Bobby Charlton has been diagnosed with dementia
Penalty to Villa right at the death - Diallo hacking down Grealish!
Ollie Watkins to take then....
Easy peasy for 2-4.
Into stoppage time, though.
Hiya, Dave - that is very sad news after the death of Nobby Stiles the other day. Not too many England '66 heroes left.
I was wondering why we didn't hear from Sir Bobby after the passing of Nobby
Struth....3-4!!!
Fulll time
Saints up to THIRD!!
3-4! Jack Grealish scores another!
Game on? Can they possibly level this up in the seconds remaining in this one?
The answer is "no." They've been beaten by those first half goals by the Saints. Another seven-goal thriller in the Premiership.
Villa drop to sixth now after having been top a few weeks ago. That's two home losses in a row, and they've conceded seven goals in two matches.
Bloody NBC.... only going to match at the last possible moment.... FOR MONSTER JAM
Minute of silence for Nobby Stiles
Brucie must have had dealings with Nobby
Pickers dropped by the Toffees
We're back on the telly now with Newcastle hosting high-flying Everton. Here's the team news:
Let's have some teams!
Newcastle United (5-3-1-1): Darlow; Murphy, Schar, Lascelles, Fernandez, Lewis; Almiron, Hendrick, S.Longstaff; Saint-Maximin; Wilson. Subs: Gillespie, Clark, Carroll, Joelinton, Hayden, Manquillo, Fraser.
Everton: Olsen; Kenny, Mina, Keane, Nkounkou; Delph, Doucoure, Allan, Gomes; Sigurdsson; Calvert-Lewin. Subs: Pickford, Tosun, Iowbi, Bernard, Gordon, Branthwaite, Simms.
Referee: Stuart Atwell (Firswod, Manchester)
Villa lost to to "Quality" sides
quality goals by quality players
almost works
Good morning Bob and Dave. I started watching the early match about twenty minutes in , which was a minute after the first goal. Great match
Ancelotti did NOT pick Pickers
Hard top believe Saints are up to third even though that will change. What a birthday for JWP
Morning David
The announcer is only partially correct about this being an important fixture for Pickers. He was signed from the Black Cats that would be more important, but the Toon are their main rivals
Good morning Dave. It looks like we'll have better matches than yesterday
Toffees must win to stay top
How was trick or treating last night? Not one to be found in our neighborhood last night. It was totally deserted.
Almiron brings down Doucourre from behind
If Pickers is back for the United match, then that's all well and good - just a rest. But if he's dropped again, like Kepa at Chelski, then it'll be a massive blow to his confidence.
Morning, David - how are you, mate?
Doing well, thank you for asking. The time change helped and no trick or treaters made for a relaxing evening. How about you?
I wouldn't mind pickers playing against us. We could do with a few goalkeeping errors to help us
It takes half an hour for the first corner of the match and it's to the Toffees, but Lascelles felt he was fouled
Not much to report so far from SJP!
I am off for walking soon
Doing just dandy, mate. We're through 10 weeks of the fall semester without too much incident. We've got three left until Thanksgiving, when we can take a deep breath. Then the last two weeks are remote.
Toon almost score from a fast break
It was nice here yesterday and we had a nice, long walkies but today is 'orrible again.
The Toon break off a Darlow fumble and the speedy Almiron puts through St. Max and Robin Olsen makes himself bog for a great close range block
I should have been flying back from England today
Toon had a free kick inches out of the box as Nkonku pulled down St. Max, but the free kick was passed back short and nothing came of it
As I am getting to go for walkies....the match has finally started!
Finally some penalty area incident. VAR check for a penalty - nothing doing.
24 years ago today.....Kathy and I bought our first house
67 Woodside Drive
We've had lovely weather since Wednesday and it's supposed to be that way for the next week.
WOW ! That's fantastic . Our 20th anniversary ion the house will be on January 16th
Sorry about the weather, Bob. Glad it was great yesterday . I even did a small amount of raking yesterday and will probably mow the lawn today or tomorrow
Sorry you weren't able to go Dave, but glad you're not there during a lockdown. This will surely pass and before you know it will be able to go . It's a while but I'm thinking it should be safe to go back to England in a couple of years. Sound about right?
Corner for Everton.... at one point....only one Toffee in the box...now only 4!
That's not enough
Rangers won 0-1 at Killie and now lead Celtic by nine points, but the Hoops have two games in hand
I hope it is sooner than two years
I can finally go during the time of year where they don't hike up prices
I'm hoping so, too. I haven't been back to England since our mom died in 2012. It's about time to get back over to Blighty.
HT at SJP
I am off for walkies!!
It would be a lovely trip for you and Kate to go back to the days of your youth!
We should meet there!
Off for walkies...really this time
Half-time at SJP - not much to write home about.
Lots of sad news out of Blighty these days. A day after Nobby Stiles, Sean Connery has died. He was always my favorite Bond, although I grew up watching Roger Moore in the role. He'll be missed.
Back for the second half now with a refreshed cuppa.
This one has been underwhelming so far - hoping for much better. It's struck me that many of the smaller clubs who were flying in the first few weeks of the season have fallen away a bit. Everton had a remarkable September but they haven't been quite the same since the last international break.
Newcastle have a penalty, at least pending a VAR check!
Callum Wilson goes down under a challenge.
Back from walkies and
PENALTY TO THE TOON . CALLY WILSON DOVE. SURELY THAT WILL BE OVERTURNED
Andre Gomez picked up a knock in that clash. It looks like the pen has been given. Yellow for Gomez as well.
How as that booking , let alone a penalty?
VAR checking for what?
Check over.
GOAL !!! THE TOON TAKE THE LEAD AS CALLY WILSON SENDS ROBIN OLSEN THE WRONG WAY
Wilson to take....
Rubbish penalty but Pickers had gone in the wrong direction.
1-0 Toon!
Liverpool the beneficiaries of two poor penalty decisions this weekend in a manner of speaking
Sorry, I meant Olsen there.
OH! Great kick save by Robin Olsen over for a corner off one of the Longstaffe brothers off a pass from Cally Wilson
No prob, Bob.
The Toffees attack off a blocked Toon shot from the corner
Then Siggy shoots a couple of feet over from about thirty yards out
Cally Wilson booked just before he took the spot kick. Jerry Minor aid something to him and Wilson tapped the ball in his stomach as he went down really easily
Bernard on for Angel Gomes Addams
Celtic two up vs Aberdeen at the half in a Scots Cup semi. The winner plays Scots Championship club, Hearts in the final. Hearts defeated their Edinburgh rivals, SPL club Hibs, 2-1 in AET yesterday.
Bernard wins a Toffees free kick about 25 yards out unless it was Delph seconds Earlier. Free kick from Siggy headed straight to Darlow by DCL
Newcastle have now leapt over us into 10th place. Because of the earlier matches this weekend, we've now dropped to 11th. We would jump back up to 9th with a point, which is a somewhat realistic goal for our match with the Foxes tomorrow. A win would vault us all the way back up to third!
A attacking Toffees switch as Tosun on for his first Toffees match in ages , replaces Nknku
Jerry Minor booked for cumulative infraction even though it's primarily a make up call for the penalty incident
Agreed, Bob. A draw would and ninth would be great which is definitely realistic
I'm off to the shower to get squeaky clean for the big match at 11:30.
Another Toffee booked as Allan booked for a cynical blocking foul.
The final roll of the dice from Ancelotti is a much needed attacking move as Iwobi is on for Jon Jo Kenny
Cheers, Bob. Hope we have a full compliment of LOBers for the big match
I am back for the last ten minutes
Was the pen a pen?
Was it a Salah pen all over again?
A defensive switch from Brucie as Isaac Hayden is on for Almiron as Brucie aims to sit on the one goal lead
Welcome back, Dave. I thought it was Salah all over again , but to a lesser extent
TWO NIL TOWN
GOAL !!! CALLY WILSON AT THE DOUBLE AS HE PUTS THE TOON TWO UP AS HE CHIPS ROBIN OLSEN
Of course, Villa scored three late goals
United's line up
De Gea
Shaw, Mags, Lindeloff, ObiWan
Pogba, McTom, Fred
Bruno
Greenwood, Rashford
The goal came from three players whose clubs were relegated last season. Jamaal Lewis signed from the Canaries played a long ball down the left to Wee Ryan. He went on a run and his cross was tapped in at the far post from a foot out by Wilson as the two former Cherries combined
Arsenal
Leno
Tierney, Holding, Gabriel, Bellerin
Saka, Partey, Elneny
Aubam, Gazette, Willian
Andy Carroll on for Cally Wilson as he will use his physical presence to disrupt the Toffees flow
I like the two up top for United....if it is a two up top
Doucourre becomes the latest Toffee booked. Like Villa , they may not be the real deal
I like the lineup, but wish Telles and VDB were in place of Shaw and Pogba
United's bench
Henderson, Williams, Tuanzebe, Matic, Mata, Cavani, VDB
6 added minutes
GOAL !!! COMEBACK ON ? DCL WITH AM GOAL AS WE ENTER HALF A DOZEN STOPPAGE TIME MINUTES
DCL with a shot deflected for a corner
Corner headed back by Andy Carroll to his own keeper
The goal came off a lengthy Toffees possession. It culminated in a pass played wide right to Iwobi. His deflected pass was diverted in at the near post by DCL from a yard out
Tosun the latest Toffee to be booked and surely they're approaching a FINE. qUESATION TO BE ASKED ABOUT THEIR INDISCIPLINE WHEN THEIR BACKS ARE TO THE WALL
Darlow does well to turn over a miss hit cross from Bernard that was heading in just under the bar
It's over as the Toon hold on to defeat the Toffees 2-1. The Toffees second, now three points behind Pool as that's a pair of consecutive road losses for the Toffees . Are they the real deal
I'm back and squeaky clean from the shower and ready to enjoy this one.
Sorry I was missing
Basement is wet.... grrrr
Welcome back. Now is the big one or is it. The first time since 1936 that these two have played each other with both being in the bottom half of the table
Sorry, Dave. Hope things improve today
Still so annoyed that NBC put the Big Match of the weekend(4 or 4:30 KO in UK) on line!!
SO PATHETIC
Arsenal in the tunnel
Teams now in the tunnel. Coverage has not begun on Peacock
The big match next weekend on Peacock too. Bloody ridiculous
Arsenal coming out of the tunnel....United entering it...now here United come
Why walk out like this like a presentation?
Just have the teams run out like they used to
Celtic have defeated Aberdeen 2-0 and will face Hearts in the Scots Cup final
Now a moment of silence for the great Nobby Stiles who passed away just a couple of days ago
Moment of silence for Nobby impeccably observed.
Minute silence for Nobby Stiles....a United great!
Also for Remembrance Month
YIKES! Sir Bobby diagnosed with dementia. It's a debilitating disease
I have 5Live on but will have to turn it off because the Cock is so far behind
They're off from OT!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON Man U
United's FOURTH home game.... will they get their first win?
Here we go, then. Even though this is 13th v. 15th, it's always a big match.
I just went to NBC complaints and sent a message
It is so bad that I have to hide my phone so I don't get updates
First time since 1936
I miss the this game being HUGE
I saw you post that stat....crazy
They did get a 5-0 home win in the CL. It's not the Prem, but perhaps a sign that United will get their first Prem home win of the season
Me too. It just doesn't seem possible
Fred seems to solid in the middle
I wish he would finish better because he seems to be on the end of some clearances at the top of the box but never hit the target
Good for you, mate. I'll do the same. Apparently, the Liverpool v. Citeh match is on Peacock next weekend. They used to reserve those matches for NBC - now they're shifting them onto Peacock.
Of course... winning in Paris should have urged us to score against Chelsea!
I'd prefer to see Matic, who I think is a better playmaker, to Fred who is a mere water carrier sideways pass merchant.
It is pathetic of them
Matic worries me... always gets booked
I am liking Fred
Corner to the Gunners
Shaw left something on Willian there. Rash also limping.
Saka wins a Gunners corner
De Gea is surrounded by FIVE gunners
And the corner doesn't beat the first man!!!!
Maguire heads away a cross from Saka for a corner as De Gea was about to gather.
Maguire heads out of De Gea's arms
Hope this one doesn't hurt us
Deeper corner cleared
Maguire heads away the next corner. Holding fouls Rash as United were attempting to break
Dirty by Holding.... hacking down Sir Marcus..... Dahlgren/Goldstein Style
No attacking play from United so far... so annoying
Pogba offside off a nice pass from Rash
Good to see Pogba getting up the pitch a bit, even if he was caught offside there.
United away in Turkey on Wednesday
A win and then win on the return... 12 points!
Good by McTom but a modern day CRAP cross
Arsenal look much more dangerous than United
Gunners counter off a gift of a pass from Fred
Decent Arsenal move there through Partey, but it's broken up.
I don't understand why this team can't build on a good performance
Obi Wan heads out for another Gunners corner
The commentators are raving about Thomas Partey now but the jury is out for me. He reminds me of Pogba in that he could easily wander in and out of a match.
Herbert Chapman...last Arsenal boss to win first two against Untied...surely Arenta won't join him
If the Gunners win today then Arteta would become the first Gunners manager to win his first two vs United since Herbert Chapman in the 1920s. YIKES!
Media love to love a player....and not know much about them....it is hip to like them
Come on United... ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK
I know next to nothing about Partey - I'm just watching him and I'm not sure yet. I've heard that he could be the next Patrick Vieira but I've heard that about a dozen Arsenal recruits and it hasn't happened yet.
I think Partey puts forth more effort than Pogba . He would be a better fit for United than Pogba even though he does look a bit inconsistent. He may be adjusting to the pace of the Prem
United start at 12:55 on Wednesday
I'll be able to watch the whole match before I pick up Kath
ooh.....Arsenal so close at the back post!!
ALL ARSENAL
Oh - Aubama was a whisker away from connecting on that Bellerin cross shot fizzer.
OH! Cross from Bellerin into the box and Aubama just failed to connect at the far post or else the Gunners would have taken the lead. Nice one touch Gunners passing
Bugger... Gala are showing Zenit v Lazio at that time
I can remember only ONCE the ball was in the box for United
The pisspoor cross by McTom...
Greenwood in the box... offside
That's fantastic Dave. Hopefully we stuff those Turkeys pre Thanksgiving
I can watch the match from Turkey on TUDN or Unimas in case an extra spot is needed
Come on United....START PLAYING
ooh...Arsenal visit Leeds soon.... Who will be favored?
United are TOOTHLESS so far!
Bob vs Steve the first weekend after the November international break
TWENTY MINUTES ARE GONE!!
NOT ONE CHANCE
NOT ONE BALL INTO THE BOX
NOT ONE RUNNING STRAIGHT AT A MAN
FINALLY
Nice through ball by Rashford....Greenwood with a shot saved
Apparently Roy Keane is on the Sky panel in Britain for this match. I can only imagine the fire and brimstone he'll spit at half-time.
FINALLY
Corner cleared
Fred in the book
Fred into the book for a "professional foul."
Near post kick save by Jay Leno from Mason Greenwood off a diagonal pass from Rash. Corner to United. Willian fouled from Behind by fellow Brazi Fred on the counter and deservedly booked for that
I saw on Instagram talking about Pogba making more of a difference( he was at Old Trafford
Obiwan gives the ball away.... then fouls Saka
Obi Wan caught faffing by Saka then fouls him from behind
Willian to take...two man wall
Pogba clears at front post
Willian to swing a free kick in then.
Whipped in but blocked out by Pogs.
Pogba clears a near post free kick from Willian
Holding now in the book
Surprise surprise.... it's raining!!
A Gunners booking for "Holding " back Pogba on the break
Yellow for Holding now for blocking off Pogs. That might have also been for blocking off Rash a while earlier.
Arteta's jacket very boring compared to RB Leipzig boss
Pogba making a difference. This person must be watching a different match than us
Right there... ball goes to Rash...no one tells him or he didn't know... that he could turn and take the space
He pass the ball first time back to Pogba and United go backwards all the way
Now Gabriel in the book too
Rash tried the turn there... try it closer to the goal
Peter Gabriel booked for pulling Rash's shirt
Mike has just commented on What's App that Everton are now showing their true league position and form. I agree.
I wonder how many young kids just coming to the game this season will be hoodwinked into picking clubs like Everton, Palace, Southampton, Villa and Leicester because of this weird start. It'll only end in tears and heartache over the years.
I didn't see Arteta's jacket but he seems more like tracksuit jacket type of coach than Nagelsman with his 70s type fashion
Agreed. The Toffees and Villa showing that they're not the real deal
Sad to see all of those empty spaces at OT. Can you imagine that you were there last year, Dave?
Now I see it. Not the suit jacket, but the coat. They're very similar
