Sunday's Best
We had a late night, so I'm getting to the football a bit later than usual this morning. Fortunately, they've put the rubbish on early doors and the big matches are on later on. Everton did the business against Fulham early on, much to my delight. As I type, Sheffield United are hosting West Ham. All of my attention today is focused on my beloved Leeds' match-up with Gooner's beloved Arsenal. These are the kinds of games I was anticipating with relish. Now we've got them to watch. That's followed by a top of the table clash between Liverpool and Leicester. Join me for all the Sunday action, won't you?

The teams on display at Bramall Lane:
Blades - Ramsdale, Basham, Egan, Ampadu, Baldock, Berge, Norwood, Fleck, Lowe, McBurnie, McGoldrick
Hammers - Flappy, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Coufal, Rice, Soucek, Masuaku, Bowen, Haller, Fornals
That early result means that Everton move back up to 6th on 16 points from 9 matches. Fulham remain just teetering on the edge of the relegation zone, on 4 points from 9 matches. The Blades have a chance with a win today to lift themselves off the bottom and out of the dropzone, while Burnley play tomorrow after now have two matches in hand on their relegation rivals.
Oh - Soucek has missed a sitter there. The goal was gaping.
Good morning, Bob. Here to join you for the matches. The first match was much better than this one.
I'm staying neutral in the next match, letting you and Steve battle that out. Just wishing for some great footie from that match
As things stand the Evil Blades are still bottom, slightly behind Burnley on goal difference. The Hammers are in mid table as we expected
Coming up on half-time, and I'm going to fix myself the official breakfast of the LOB.
Morning, David - great to have you on board today. Yes, the next match is a tricky battle within the family. Fortunately, the stakes aren't terribly high for us. Based on my patented rubric, we don't need anything from the match. I just hope it's a good match with some goals.
Flappy does well to tip over a header from McBurr Nie from a cross from Chris Basham
Then the corner is headed on and a header from David McGoalrick comes off the post
Cheers, Bob. It should be a fascinating contest and should provide plenty of entertainment and goals
I'm off to take Sparky walkies
Back for the second half at Bramall Lane and it's still 0-0
I'm back from my brekkies. It was great to see DCL on the scoresheet again with a brace against the Cottagers this morning. That's him up to 10 goals on the season now - the first player to get to double figures this season.
This match smells like a 0-0er to me. It would put the Blades on 2 points and I'd be plenty happy with that.
Wahay! The Hammers have taken the lead through Haller!
The Ivorian really caught that one and it just rose into the upper 90. Ramsdale, who's been good today, had no chance.
0-1 Hammers!
GOAL !!!! SEB HALLER HAS PLENTY TO HALLER ABOUT AS THAT WAS A SCREAMER TO GIVE THE HAMMERS THE LEAD. JARRED BOWEN WENT ON A RUN THEN PASSED TO FORNALS . HIS SHOT WAS BLOCKED AND BROKE TO HALLER WHO SCORED WITH A ROCKET FROM JUST OUTSIDE THE BOX THAT LANDED IN THE UPPER 90
Welcome back, Bob. Hammers up to eighth and the Evil Blades rock bottom. I guess that's where they belong
How was brekkies? It must have settled well with a goal against the Evil Blades
The half-time panel were chattering about some kid that Sheffield United bought in the summer time and hasn't been used. I wonder who that is and whether he'll get a match today. They certainly need goals.
Lovely - I found some jalapeno/cheddar bagels in the store last night, so I had a big of spicy Southwestern flair in my brekkies this morning.
OH! Declan Rice nearly puts the hammers two up with a header from a corner that goes off the top of the bar
The Evil Blades signed Rhian Brewster from Liverpool. He's a prospect, but couldn't break into their team. Scored lots of goals on loan to the Swans last season
Talking about Brewster, He puts through , McBurnie who was through on goal as his shot came off the bar
Thanks, David - I knew it was someone from Liverpool.
Glad to help, Bob. Great choice of brekkies
A trio of stoppage time minutes
David Moyes doing everything he can to ruin UWS's day as Mark Noble is on for Jarred Bowen in a stoppage time change . Like for like
Hammers corner flagging it now. Lovely.
Hey Boys
I have been out and about this morning....here for the Dahlgren Derby!
That's got to be it, now.
The Hammers have won....United drop a spot down to tenth
Morning, Dave - welcome! I can't wait!
It's over and the Hammers win 0-1 at Bramall Lane. Bob will be delighted that the Evil Blades remain rock boittom
Bloody NBCSN....Mecum Top 10!!
Wahay! This morning couldn't be going better for us. First Fulham are pipped by Everton at home. Now the Blades have been Hammered. Another nail in both of their coffins, while we're still well out of the fray.
Now, then - for the big one!
Good morning. Glad you're here for the special occasion.
Kal starts!
MOT!!!!

Team to play Leeds: Leno, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Bellerin, Xhaka, Willock, Ceballos, Willian, Pepe, Aubameyang
Subs: Runarsson, Saka, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Nelson, Nketiah
The team news out of Elland Road:
Leeds United (4-1-4-1): Meslier; Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Dallas; Phillips; Alioski, Raphinha, Klich, Harrison; Bamford. Subs: Casilla, Poveda, Roberts, Costa, Rodrigo, Struijk, Davis.

It's marvelous to see Kal Phillips back in the fold, of course, and ahead of schedule. That's the advantage the international break gave us, so I guess I love the Nations League!
Also interested to see Raphinha starting ahead of the likes of Helder Costa and Tyler Roberts. He must have impressed the boss during training. He's shown some flashes of good stuff.
Patrick Bamford is on seven goals from eight and that should really be eight from eight, given that ridiculous VAR offside call in our last match.
Patrick is all smiles in the build up - he knows that the pressure is off today. Just go out and have some fun.
Our United helped yours , defeating the Baggies yesterday. Tomorrow Burnley hosts Palace
Great lineups . Can't wait for the match to start
Rangers thrashed Aberdeen 4-0 and are eleven points ahead of Celtic, who have two games in hand
I'm looking forward to taking advantage of the Thanksgiving Break to watch some of the midweek matches.
Wahay - teams in the tunnel now - come on!
Teams are in the tunnel....and of course... NBC have to make more dosh.... THE COCK isn't making enough for you?
MOT!!!!
Great touch by Leeds with the virtual mascot on an iPad
Lovely Yorkshire weather today. It's raining here in WNY as well.
NBC is really greedy. No more cock till Saturday
Lovely moment there with Liam Cooper.
Hot and sunny in South Texas today.
Bob and Steve headed to their corners!
and more commercials
More greed from NBC as if they're headed for chapter 11
Come on, NBC - pull your fingers out.
Arenal wearing blue..... I guess the colors clash... unlike in the 1972 Cup Final
The screamer Drury on the mic
And we are off
They're off from ER on what should be a fantastic occasion
Did any of you send a complain?
I did
A furious pace right from the off.
They are building this game up..... nil nil.... it's a cert
First Prem meeting between these two since 2004. Bob will be pleased that TH14 won't be out there to provide a threat
I need a clean sheet by Cooper
A goal and assist by both Dallas and Phillips
Does the pitch look a little dark to you guys?
Luke Ayling already pushing up.
Maybe a bit over on the far side but I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it.
I'm confident in the assists. Not sure about the clean sheat. Perhaps one of the lights blew out
One of my personal favorite clashes between these two was when Leeds had a shock win at Highbury. Leeds were close to relegation that season. They survived and Man United would win the league.....thanks Viduka
Willian broke COVID rules by going to Dubai during the break. Really poor form from him
One of the worst terms in modern day football.... manager's philosophy !
I remember that match. I watched it on a Sunday and I think Leeds won 2-3. I read that Peter Reid was in charge of Leeds that day
Oh - Raphinha had a go from distance but slipped as he was shooting.
Long range shot from Rodrigo high and wide
No real rhythm to the match yet.
Peter Dreary announcing on a dreary W Yorkshire day. Last time the teams met was the last time the Gunners won the league and Leeds were relegated. Neither will happen this season
Following year... Arsenal win the league and Leeds suffer the drop... Yin Yang season in the Dahlgren household
It's like a cup final where the teams are trying to find their way into the match
Not sure if Bob would see it that way, LOL, but handled in a ying yang way
Yep - I remember that season well. It was my first year back in the States after my Japanese sojourn.
Oh - Ceballos picked out pocket and unleashed a drive. Well wide.
OH! I thought Ceballos gave the Gunners the lead, but just the wrong side of the post as he won the ball then shot
The media make up so much crap
How players are so good.... Declan Rice? What does he really do?
Arteta..... I don't think he has done that well.... but he comes from Pep's stable so he must be good
This season will be a more memorable year in the U.S. for Bob from a footie point of view
ooh... the first scream of Bamford
Oh - great break there from us and it ended with Patrick having a stab at it. Leno smothered.
Nice Leeds move down the left that ended in a pass from Ali to Bamford and his close range shot was easily saved by Jay Leno
First corner of the match for us earned by Luke.
Ayling.... can't get it past one man with a cross!!
An Ayling cross goes off of Willian for a Leeds corner
Bloody modern day corner....shin height at front post
Not good enough from Kal there. He's got to get more lift on the corners.
Hospital ball there for Dallas who fouled Ceballos and he picks up a yellow.
Pepe over this free kick now. Mark 'em up!
Free kick... my man gets a yellow
I really think yellows are meaningless these days....every tackle should be given one....wait...it almost is already
Stu Dallas booked for a foul from behind on Ceballos. The scream could be heard all the way from Dallas
Ceb of course screamed and rolled
Now Dallas concedes a corner. Good defending.
Free kick from Pepe headed out by Dallas for a Gunners corner
Corner headed on by Peter Gabriel and Aubama more offside than Trump
David O'Leary in attendance , who is a legend with both clubs
Poor cross from Gjanni - he has to deliver better.
Ali has been providing plenty of catching practice for Jay Leno according to his writers
Tame shot from long range from Jack Harrison deflects off a teammate and is easily gathered by Jay leno
Oh - Pepe totally befuddled Ayling and then crossed onto the crossbar!
So far today most of the goals have come from Bob and Kate's house. the conditions must be conducive there
Miss hit cross from Pepe comes off the bar. The closest either team has come to scoring
Oh - Klich nearly played Patrick in there.
Rafinha called for a foul on Kieran Tierney. It wasn't a foul, but a slip.
Sorry. Kal Phillips called for them foul
Kal dives in there having slipped up. Tierney is feeling it. Arsenal have another dangerous free kick chance now.
Ceb tries a cheeky one low but well wide.
Horrible free kick from Ceballos. Will we hear more of the grito?
Dangerous there for us, with Bellerin playing Aubama in but he shanked it well wide.
High and wide from AUBAMA FROM A DIFFICULT ANGLE. Nice passing move
Oh - Pepe played one through to Willian but Meslier was quick off his line.
That was nice sweeper keeping from Meslier
OH! First time curler from Rafinha just wide
Oh - another great break from us but Raphinha's curler is wide. Worth a go - I like how direct he's been.
Just needed a little bit more curl
More Cooper called for "driving in" illegally
Coop with an agricultural challenge and it's another free kick.
Steve will not be pleased at the Gunners short free kick routine gone horribly wrong. Now Leeds on the attack
I am on a FaceTime call with the Stark family
Dick is in our fantasy league....why isn't he watching!!!
Klich wins another corner for us - good move.
Pass Kliched out for a Leeds corner
Useless corner from Leeds
GRRRRRR
Are the Starks your friends from Charlotte?
Oh - great save by Leno from Patrick.
OH! Great save by Jay Leno from Bamford off a poor clearance from an Ayling pass. Then the rebound was shot wide
I remember the Starks well from earlier visits. Wish them well for me.
Peter Dreary says that Bamford has had a lot of might have beens. Bob is used to that
Peter Dreary mentioning the two Third Round meetings between these two in the past sixteen years
Oh - Stu had a glorious chance there. Should have been a more controlled shot.
Well wide by Dallas a s a cross from Jack Harrison went behind Klich
I remember all of those matches. The one from last year was a terrific performance from us - it woke a lot of people up about Bielsa's side.
That was a great match. It looked like two Prem teams fighting out a great contest. The other meeting went to a replay
I think our two Uniteds meet a few days after my birthday
Dallas with another blocked shot and then Kal with an overambitious effort.
Kal Phillips more like Wilko with that long range shot. Johnny, not Howard
Oh - another wasteful finish, this time from Klich. Why oh why can't be put away these chances?!
Now it's a free kick chance on the left side. Let's finish off the half with a goal. We deserve it.
Ali wins a free kick in a great position to chip in a free kick
Now it's Luke with a lean back and shot over the bar. Bielsa needs to order up some shooting practice for next week.
Phillips played it short then a poorly Kliched cross cleared then an Ayling shot goes well over
Then well wide by Pepe
Oh - Pepe curled one just wide of the mark. That could easily have crept in the corner. He's been the danger man for the Gunners.
IS the poor shooting due to travel during the international break? I'm sure Bielsa will have them spend hours practicing that
Ah - a chance of a break there but Stu hung onto it too long and Patrick isn't well pleased.
Half-time - we've been good but wasteful in the finishing. Should be 1-0 up. We've got to finish our chances in the second half.
Dallas leads a Leeds counter as we enter stoppage and only a few seconds of that as it's 0-0 at the half
The Guardian blog's take on the first half:
"The game started slowly but gradually got better as Leeds gradually asserted superiority. If Arsenal don’t play better, they’ll lose, but they’ll know they’ve done well to stay level."
That's a very accurate description as the Gunners are the first team out on the pitch ahead of the second half. Reiss Nelson coming on a s a sub, replacing Willian for his first Prem appearance of the season as the second half is underway
I wouldn't have started Willian after he broke COVID 19 rules by going to Dubai
Back on for the second half - MOT!
Willian has been replaced by Reiss Nelson for the second half.
Ali down due to an off the ball incident involving Pepe. VAR to check
Still on FaceTime.... will it be a red?
YES!
Pepe is off!
BTW....wish PEP would be off
I think Pepe is going off , which will leave the Gunners down to ten men. He's off . I had a feeling he would go due to the head butt. His reaction tells us that he knows he was in the wrong
LOL, Dave. Not sure you will get your Pep wish
Off the ball incident there and Gjanni is on the ground rolling about.
Could there be a VAR check?
Looked like a head butt but Gjanni definitely made a meal of it.
He's off - Arsenal down to ten men!
Im finally off
I wonder if the Gunners will be playing for 0-0. Bielsa should be getting Hernandez ready soon
Kal is down hurt...looks like a knee
Hope he is going to be ok... not just for today
That doesn't look good for Leeds as Kal Phillips is down, holding his knee. Hernandez would be the natural replacement
We'll need to bring Rodrigo on sooner rather than later.
Did I call a nil niller!!
Looks like he will continue
Like the coach always told me, he's going to run it off. Meanwhile, Saka on for Joe Willock.
The chipped in crosses don't seem to be working for us today. The Arsenal backfour have been very tidy with them. Patrick hasn't had a sniff.
Uh oh - Kal is down in some distress.
I think L:eeds will use their man advantage to win 1-0
Looks like Kal might be able to continue. Meanwhile Saka is coming on for Willock. Don't like that - Saka is dangerous.
Arsenal are just like United!
Saka plays a nice one two with Tierney then passes to Aubama , who shoots tamely at Meslier
That was a dangerous break from Arsenal, of course through Saka, and fortunately Aubama didn't catch it.
Not exactly Koched to perfection. More like the Koch we watch as the long range shot is well wide
Jay Leno does well to turn around a long range shot from Dallas
Nice pressure from us now. Just need to find the telling opening.
Oh - great move and save from Leno! Dallas with a super shot. Corner.
And Coop nods wide from the resulting corner.
This feels like a dangerous point in the match, where we could either win it or lose it.
OH! Nice team move from Leeds and the pass from Rafinha resulted in poor control from Bamford as he was about to shoot in the six yard box
Oh - Kal played Patrick through and he turned well but Gabriel read it well and intervened.
Rodrigo on for Ayling
Arsenal seem to be happy to keep their shape and park the bus now.
Oh - first time Luke!
Rafinha took too long to shot and his shot was blocked by Tierney
Oh dear - that's Luke's last touch. Rodrigo on for him. A really attacking move from Bielsa. It tells you that he wants to push on for the win.
OH! Bamford heads a cross from Rafinha well wide
I am back after having to change computers...Tom's masters degree stuff!
Can Leeds do it?
Arsenal didn't deserve to win at OT.... will they do the same at ER?
Mini Cooper out of tune as he drives into Xakha Khan just outside the Leeds box
Free kick from Xkha Khan well over
