A Spot of Monday Footer, Anyone?
Anyone for some Monday Premier League action? I'll be honest - neither of these matches fires my imagination, and I've got some Christmas wrapping and some cooking to do this afternoon. So, I'll be in and out of it. But I thought I'd post a thread and we can chip in as we're watching. Happy Monday, everyone!

Good afternoon, Bob. Thanks for posting . I feel the same way. It's Jacquelyn's birthday so I'm not sure how involved I'll be today. Tomorrow and Wednesday are probably more realistic
Afternoon, David - happy birthday to Jacquelyn! How old is she today?
A bit of Arcade Fire as the teams are coming out at Turf Moor.
American teenager, Owen Otasowie, is given his first Prem start for Wolves after coming on as a sub last week vs Chelsea for an excellent Prem debut
Of course, I'm hoping that Wolves can put Burnley to the sword today, ahead of our meeting with the Turf Moor crowd next weekend. A draw would be okay, as well.
Thank you Bob. Today is Jacquelyn's twentieth birthday
Yeah - it'll be interesting to take a look at Otasowie today. I have to admit that I don't know the current crop of American youngsters very well, with the obvious exception of Christian Pulisic.
Wow - time flies, eh?
I think Leeds hosts Burnley in the noon kickoff on Sunday. I read that Fat Sams lads were thrashed at home to Villa yesterday, which is rather lovely
Definitely so, Bob. Hard to believe there aren't any more teenagers in our household
With a draw here, Burnley would jump out of the relegation zone on 11 points from 14, plunging Fulham into trouble. Looking at the relegation battlers, Sheffield United look all but down already. The cellar dwellers at Christmas usually go down. WBA also look in real trouble as they're still in single figures on 7 points. The real battle will be for that third spot, with Brighton, Burnley and Fulham the most likely battlers. I don't really think of Arsenal, Leeds, Palace or Newcastle as realistic relegation teams.
Yes, I was really happy to see Fat Sam get off to a losing start against Villa. I've been surprised by the reaction to yesterday's result. For some reason, some of the pundits thought that it would be a close thing. Why would anyone think that Leeds, a newly promoted side, would have any chance at Old Trafford? Our expectations are measured against the other newly-promoted sides. Right now, we're safe in 14th, while Fulham and in 18th and WBA in 19th.
Half an hour in now. Wolves are doing what Wolves do. Defending deep and trying to hit Burnley on the break.
GOAL!!! BURNLEY TAKE THE LEAD ON THE COUNTER. ASHLEY BARNES HEADS IN A CROSS FROM CHARLIE TAYLOR FROM A YARD OUT
Not happy at all to see Burnley take the lead - that is not part of the script.
Burnley moves up to 16th place , three points clear of the drop zone
I always felt that Burnley would move out of the drop zone. Looks like the Baggies and Evil Blades are all but down The Cottagers and Seagulls will be battling for the final drop spot
Burnley is one up at the half. Plenty of time for Wolves to come back
GOAL !!! BURNLEY GOES TWO UP WITH A TYPICAL GOAL . A LONG FREE KICK WAS HEADED ON BY BEN MEE THEN OFF THE SHOULDER OF DWIGHT MCNEIL THEN VOLLEYED IN BY CHRIS WOOD FROM A YARD OUT
Into the second half now, after a bite of lunch. I see that Burnley are still leading. Hoping that Wolves can get an equalizer.
It's clear that we're going to have to watch out for set pieces next week when we take on Burnley.
I'm off to the post office - hoping that Wolves can get a couple of goals back. Come on, Desmond!
Cheers, mate. Hope to hear from you soon
PENALTY WOLVES JOSH BENSON FOULS FELLOW TEEN, FABIO SILVA
GOAL !!! FABIO SILVA SCORES FROM THE SPOIT WITH A WELL PLACED PENALTY FOR HIS FIRST EVER WOLVES GOAL TO PULL IT BACK TO 2-1
Will that provide a Silva lining for Wolves
A quintet of stoppage time minutes
VAR checking for a possible stamp by Moutinho on Josh Brownhill. Nothing doing
It's over as Burnley holds on to defeat Wolves 2-1
Shame about that result. Not a good one for us, as it has Burnley on 13 points from 14 and in 16th, just a point behind Arsenal. Extra incentive for us to do them over on Sunday.
I'm back from my errands and settling in for the late one. Here's the team news out of SB:
Chelsea: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Thiago Silva, Chilwell, Jorginho, Kante, Mount, Werner, Abraham, Pulisic. Subs: Arrizabalaga, Rudiger, Christensen, Kovacic, Giroud, Hudson-Odoi, Gilmour, Havertz, Emerson Palmieri.
West Ham: Fabianski, Coufal, Balbuena, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Rice, Soucek, Bowen, Noble, Fornals, Haller. Subs: Yarmolenko, Benrahma, Snodgrass, Dawson, Diop, Fredericks, Martin, Johnson, Randolph.
Referee: Chris Kavanagh.
We're away in this one now. Hard to say what is the best result for Leeds in this one - maybe a draw? Chelsea win?
Chilly has gone down with a knock and it's unclear whether he'll be able to continue.
Oh - Declan Rice has the ball in the net but he's flagged offside. He would have loved to have scored for his childhood club.
Chilly is going off and Emerson is replacing him.
GOAL! Thiago Silva thumps home a rousing header for Chelsea to take the lead. Free header there.
1-0 Blues!
Now Tammy Abraham has it in the net but it's flagged off as the ball went out of play. But WH are on the rack here.
WH definitely knocking on the door - Bowen nets for them but is brought back for a free kick.
Chelsea have of course taken their foot off the gas since scoring - that's what they do under Frank who learned at the knee of Jose Mourinho.
Oh - Pulisic sets up Werner but of course my GBB hits the keeper Flappy with his tame shot.
The half time whistle goes - this scoreline is probably the best one for us, as it keeps West Ham in midtable and within reach of Leeds on 21 points.
Into the second half and Tammy Abraham has wrapped up the win for the Blues. 2-0!
And Tammy has added a third now - 3-0 is rather flattering as Chelsea haven't really applied themselves consistently.
That's it - Chelsea run out 3-0 winners. It pushes Chelsea up to fifth ahead of Spurs. West Ham stay in 10th.
Over and out for me, today. I'll be posting an update of the PPP tomorrow morning. Cheerio!
