The Home Stretch
Afternoon, chaps! It's a busy post-semester day for me, so I'll be in and out of the action today, but I thought I'd post a thread so that we can contribute throughout the day. Our Uniteds play at 1pm, with us at St. Mary's to visit Southampton, while United host relegated Fulham in a bit of a dead rubber. At 3pm, we've got Brighton v. Citeh and the big Champions League qualifying rematch of Chelsea and Leicester. I'll look forward to chatting with you!

Wotcher, boys! I've got a Zoom meeting during the match this afternoon, so I'll be in and out. Hoping for another big away win for our lot at St. Mary's.
Marcelo Bielsa is making three changes to our line-up. Kiko Casilla gives Ilan Meslier a rest, while Liam Cooper replaces Struijk at the back and two-goal hero Rodrigo starts up front.

Fans in Old Trafford and St Marys
Good Afternoon, Bob and Dave. I will be in and out too. We're busy straightening out the house in what is the home stretch for us. It's official that we're moving out on Monday.
Just showed United coming out on the field in front of 10,000 fans!
Brilliant
The Thrift Store is coming by today to pick up furniture that didn't sell during the garage sale. Tomorrow morning the realtor will come to recommend a sales price for the house and to recommend any final details
WOW! That's great that fans are allowed back at matches, albeit a small percentage. It's a start
When Bob said dead rubber I originally thought he was talking about us in the PPP.
Good job David
Thanks, Dave. I will chip in when possible
The coverage of Peacock has just started.
Welcome, guys - I hope you're having a good day.
My Roku is so far behind my TV!!
I may change!
Great to see the fans in the stands at St. Mary's. I can't wait to see Elland Road rocking and rolling on Sunday.
I've kept Old Trafford match on the telly and the Leeds on the computer
Wahay - the boys are coming out at St. Mary's.
Lots of games on tomorrow.... only ONE on the Telly!
I HATE THE COCK
Elland Road will sound great on Sunday
Players about to come out at Old Trafford
FULHAM..... at team in white.... wearing YELLOW
Last home game in front of fans was the 2-0 win vs City, I think
All the fans at OT have green and yellow signs... Glazers Out
Go Glazers Go
Away we go, then - come on, you Whites!
We are off at St Marys
My United haven't started....well on my TV.... so much delayed!!
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
United attacking the Stretford End in the first half!
Strange!
Fans sound great!!
NOW SCORE FOR THEM UNITED
oooh.... Saints with header....well saved
Good early save from Kiko there from a Che Adams header. Corner to the Saints. Mark 'em up!
There is no reason why United don't try and play positive fast attacking football
DON'T BORE ME
Peacock sucks . It doesn't want to completely load and I'm probably going to have to wait till this evening to watch
United giving the ball away in their defensive third
Surprise surprise it was Fred
United still PHAFFING ABOUT WITH IT AT THE BACK
First match for Cavani in front of fans
Come on United....give the fans reason to cheer
Struth....Leeds survive again... offside tho
Another good save by Kiko there. Saints are trying to hit us early. It's a wide open match.
United....play the second half of the Roma match!!
I want the fans to start cheering....
Attack
Attack
Attack attack attack
Ball hasn't been in the box!
ENTERTAIN THEM
Sorry David
Pogba with the first chance.....useless header
I'm 0 for 3 on devices . Looks like it's n to meant to be on watching till the late match
Live commentary on BBC 5Live
Fred is offside..... crappy cross anyway
Radio commentary is always good
Almost ten minutes in...not much created at all
Come on United...you're in front of fans!!
Soton have had a bump because of fans
United are playing too slow
Got the match from OT on my phone . Got OOPs Something went wrong on both computers
Sorry to hear that you're having so many problems this afternoon. My Peacock stream is working fine but my meeting is very distracting.
Sounds like I haven't missed much
Free kick chance
Comes to nothing
Just lost both links
Cheers Bob and Dave. The Footie Gods have failed to realize that I'm really persistent. Got a match on my phone
Thomas Edison Cavani wants a penalty as a cross is cleared for a corner. He's revving up the Stretford End
I have the telly back but turned off the Leeds match because Matt wanted to watch Utd at work
Nothing given
Corner to United
VAR is just so inconsistent
WAY HAY! THE STRETFORD END GOES NUTS . PLENTY OF ELECTRCITY AS THOMAS EDISON CAVANICHIPS ARRIOLA WQITH A WAZZA TYPE CHIIP TO GIVE UNITED THE LKEAD
YES!!!
WHAT A WAY TO SCORE IN FRONT OF YOUR FANS!!
CAVANI!!!!!
Please be on....he is
How is it offside . Cavani was in his own half when he received the ball? Way Hay goal. For once VAR got it right
That was a Roon type goal.
Struth.... it might not count!
IT DOES!!
Should have never gone to review . Not sure how VAR reviews certain things
There was a question about Bruno not touching it which means he would have been off
But it sounds....surprised
Bruno booked for fouling compatriot Cavaliero on the counter off a run and pass from Anguissa
United's last goals in front of fans was scored from almost exactly the same spot
Cavani's and McTom's against City
Fulham break
Bruno in the book
Commentators want to cause controversy
It was touched by Bruno
Only three teams have scored more points at home than United but United have lost all their games at home!!
Well done, boys - I'm really happy for you. I'm hoping that Patrick will get on the scoresheet. First big chance there fell to Stu Dallas who put his volley wide.
Not sure if you agree with me but 10,000 fans today sound louder than 75,000 pre-COVID
iT'S ODD THAT uNITED HAVBE LOST ALL THEIR MATCHES AT HOME . iT'S PARTIALLY DUE TO NO FANS, BUT OITHER CLUBS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS
Mid-way through the first half - still 0-0. Saints have had the better of it so far, but we're starting to come back into the match.
OH!Arriola doies well to turn around a long range shot from Bruno after Lemina gifted United possession
Not effort by Bruno
Bruno almost in.... couldn't get the ball out of his feet
Jim Beglin wants a penalty for a love tap. I bet Hansen and Lawro did far worse during his pladays with nothing beingcalled
United aiming to be undefeated away... one match left... United are going to play scrubs a few days before the Cup Final
Fulham get a gift corner
Header that was fumbled by De Gea but got it again....phew
Film director Harrison Reed replaced by Joachim Hans Christian Andersen a half hour in. No Academy ward nor fairy tale ending
Captain Kirk may be feeding Scotty to the Klingons. It's part of a Parker Brothers game we purchased
First two Hall of Fame inductees were Sheerer and Henry(it was going to be Giggs but he's got legal problems)
Two more were announced today
Eric Cantona and Roy Keane!
Better be United players!!
Come on United....get another!!
Still 0-0 at St.Mary's
Scholes and Schemeichel should be on the list of nominees. I haven't been keeping updated on the Hall of Hame in all honesty
Another good save by Kiko from Che Adams. I think it was off-target but you can never be sure.
Giggs is the Donny Trump of footie in terms of legal problems. He sure has enough for an entire playing staff
PHEW! Young Carvlho who scored on his first team debut on Saturday, with a tame shot with just De Gea to beat. Should have tied it up
Phew.... a break...De Gea saves
Awful by Lindeloff
Match from Sty. Mary's buffering on the IMCAC. Still 0-0 there
They are on the list
Rooney isn't .... hasn't bee retired long enough
Agreed, Dave. Even Bob and I defended better than that back in the day
Is it the same rules as the NFL and MLB where you have to be retired five years?
Tony Adams (Arsenal)
David Beckham (Man Utd)
Dennis Bergkamp (Arsenal)
Sol Campbell (Arsenal, Newcastle, Portsmouth, Tottenham)
Eric Cantona (Leeds, Man Utd)
Andy Cole (Blackburn, Man Utd, Newcastle - 6 others)
Ashley Cole (Arsenal, Chelsea)
Didier Drogba (Chelsea)
Les Ferdinand (Leicester, Newcastle, Tottenham - 2 others)
Rio Ferdinand (Leeds, Man Utd, West Ham)
Robbie Fowler (Leeds, Liverpool, Man City - 2 others)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)
Roy Keane (Man Utd)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea, West Ham)
Matt Le Tissier (Southampton)
Michael Owen (Liverpool, Man Utd, Newcastle, Stoke)
Peter Schmeichel (Man Utd)
Paul Scholes (Man Utd)
John Terry (Chelsea)
Robin van Persie (Arsenal, Man Utd)
Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd)
Patrick Vieira (Arsenal, Man City)
Ian Wright (Arsenal, West Ham)
Great atmosphere by the 10,00 fans at OT
How are Leeds doing?
Thanks, Dave. Quite a list and well deserved nominations.
Great tackle back there by Kal.
Decent long range shot from Bruno decently saved by Arriola
BTW, I am a Fox again this afternoon... also a Burnley man tomorrow
Good daisy cutter shot by Bruno easily saved
Me too, Dave . I'm rooting for the same teams
Bob, be more descriptive please
Come on United...score another before half time
Don't like the fans wearing the yellow and green scarves. I fell it's encouraging the thugs who got the match postponed
Dave giving Bob some stick
Shaw breaks....useless effort but positive
United one up at the half thanks to that audacious chip from Thomas Edison Cavani. It sparked an electric atmosphere at OT
Not at all. I want to know what is happening in the Leeds match. I'm not watching
It's 0-0 at the half at St. Mary's
Blackpool two up at Oxford at half time in fist leg of P/O
HT at OT
Half-time at St. Mary's - 0-0. Not a great match. I'm not that upset that I'm only half watching. All to play for in the second half, though.
Back on at St. Mary's for the second half. Both sides making changes. Danny Ings is on for Soton and Berardi is on for us.
Second half underway at OT and St. Mary's. Berardi on for a Prem debut for Leeds
Early free kick chance for Soton now.
Teams out for the second half
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
A standing ovation for Ings coming on
Sorry, Dave - I'll do my best - the meeting is very distracting.
OH! Curling free kick from JWP clips the corner of the post and bar
Bob , sorry you have that irksome meeting. I'm sure you would love to focus on the match at St. Mary's
Oh - a stonking volley from 25 yards from Stu Dallas. Turned around by the keeper. That would have been a goal of the season contender.
Come on United.... entertain me!
Damn... I could have done with a Dallas goal!
I have the match from OT on the phone and the one from St. Mary's on the IMAC while typing on the ancient PC
Curling free kick from Bruno well wide
Free kick chance central to Untied...come on Bruno... walk away FRED!
ooooh.....just wide! I thought that was in!!
Keeper gave up on that one!
United on the front foot
Modern day cross tho and we lose the ball
It looks like we're beginning to turn the screw now. This is the part of the match where the Bielsa fitness regime starts to kick in.
Bruno wins another free kick
OH Free kick from Bruno leads to a good save by Arriola from Greenwood then cleared for a corner, but flagged offside
Rash warming up...he is probably going to come on for Greenwood....I don't want that for Fantasy reasons!
I need Greenwood to score...I put Rash on bench
JWP over a free kick out wide left now. Mark 'em up!
Saints free kick inches outside the Leeds box
oooh...Greenwood almost scores twice but flag was up
Unusually poor by JWP as it's curled into the two man wall then Leeds counter and Bamford through , rounds the keeper, then tackled by Vesty for a corner as he dribbled to far wide
United are going forward with pace....keep it up
Now Bamford down for Leeds
Oh - great cross over there by Jack and Patrick was pole-axed as he went in for a diving header. He's down for treatment.
City already one up but also down a man
Gundy scored and then Cancelo with a red
Come on Leeds!
IT'S LEEDS TIME
Again....keep me up to date
Play now has been stopped for about three minutes at St. Mary's Bamford looks really seriously injured
Concussion protocols being done on Patrick now. He really took a hard head knock. I expect that he'll come off.
Nice near post save by De Gea from Lookman
Two great saves by De Gea
Phew
Fortunately, Patrick is up and walking off under his own steam.
Looking at the replay of that Bamford chance. Defitnitely tripped by te keeper and Leeds denied a stonewall penalty
I think he's playing today because it is his last match at Old Trafford
I am sure he wants a clean sheet
Rashford is coming on for McTom
Rash on for McTomain , but no poisoning
Is VAR looking at the pen?
The Cock things they have to tell us that the sound is REAL people
The Cottagers teenage Carvalho may not think it's Tongue n' Cheeks as he's subbed
United are still only one nil up... far too close!
I don't think VAR looked at the pen. If they did it was for just a few seconds. Not sure how it wasn't a penalty
We should be stuffing these mugs as they've been nearly as hospitable as Bob and Kate
Danny Ings finds himself in a good shooting position but fortunately blasts well over.
Rash makes the most of a tackle
Not just foreigners dive
Bruno with an effort from the side of the box
Saved
Former Leeds loanee, Alex McCarthy Blocks a cross with his foot then a decent close range save from Ali
oooh cross from United and no one gets a touch
Agreed, Dave . Horrible flop from Rash
United are playing positive
The fans Tella Nathan he's done a great job as he receives a standing ovation as he's replaced by Nathan redmond. One Nathan for another
BOTH of my Leeds middies have gotten yellow cards
THANKS A LOT!!
WAY HAY! BAMFORD GIVESS LEEDS THE LEAD
YESSSSSSS!!!!
Patrick with his 16th of the season!
It was announced that Woy is leaving Palace at the end of the season. Who will take over?
Lamps?
CONGRATS!
Lovely ball over the top by Rodrigo and Patrick did so well with his run and to flick it past the keeper. Brilliant poacher's goal.
Nice lobbed pass from Rodrigo as Bamford got behind the Saints defense and nut megged the on rushing McCarthy. Var checked for offside and the goal stands
Interesting Euro news.... Benzema has shock recall for the Euros
OH ! Greenwood put thorugh but well blocked by the on rushing Arriola
Congrats, Bob. Both our Uniteds one up
Greenwood misses a one on one... Bruno misses the rebound!
Father Time has told Uncle Woy to call it a day. I guess Lamps would be primary candidate for the Palace job
Damn...just lost Roku!
Around fifteen minutes to see this one out now.
DAMN ! A DAY IN THE LIFE OF BRYAN SEES THE COTTAGERS TIE IT UP
Damn...just lost Roku!
OMG... I just see that something happens at OT... and I haven't seen it yet
VAR checking to see if Bobby Reid offside when the ball was played wide right to him
VAR checking
The Match at St. Mary's frozen on my IMAC
Fulham score from a header....United should be so far ahead
United's defenders suck
Nice cross from Bobby Reid and a far post header from Joe Bryan from a couple of yards out.
Tyler Roberts on now to run about and keep the Soton players occupied. Good choice.
VAR still checking
I think that's Joe Bryan's first Cottagers goal since the playoff Final vs the Bees
Goal stands
Patrick Bamford is the first player to score 10 Premier League goals away from home in a single season for a newly promoted club since Andy Johnson for Crystal Palace in 2004-05.
Did I hear that correctly ? The most home league goals conceded by United in 58 years
Comfortable save by Arriola from Bruno
Manchester United have conceded 28 home goals in the Premier League this season – they last conceded more at Old Trafford in a single campaign back in 1962-63 (38).
Marvelous. I think he's only the fourth Leeds player to score 10 away goals for us. Not sure who the others are.
Great achievement from Bamford and I do remember Andy Johnson.
