A Cocked Up Sunday
Morning, gents - I hope that you're enjoying a relaxing weekend. Since all of the matches are on Peacock, I thought I might have a nice lie-in. Brentford v. Everton, City v. West Ham and Leicester have all kicked off, while Burnley v. Spurs has been delayed because of a frozen pitch. Aren't all clubs supposed to have undersoil heating in the Prem? Someone seems to have missed that at Turf Moor, but surely that's reason enough to relegate the Clarets.
All of those matches are serving as the undercard for the marquee match-up between current league leaders Chelsea and Michael Carrick-led Man Utd. That should be a fascinating encounter, albeit also on Peacock. Join me for all of the fun.

Half-time scores -
Brentford 1-0 Everton
Leicester 3-1 Watford
Man City 1-0 West Ham
I'm happy with the Leicester scoreline but not at all happy with Brentford's, who we play next weekend.
Everton are in real trouble now. We're used to thinking of the Toffees as a wannabe club, solidly mid-table at worst and perhaps pushing for a European slot.
But now they're in 14th on 15 points, only six points off relegation.
Good morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. I'm watching Citeh vs Hammers on Roku TV and Bee's vs Tofffes on the computer
Second half has started at Brentford. Still clearing snow ❄ off the pitch at the Etihad.
Second half underway eight minutes late due to snow being cleared off the pitch at the Etihad
Hornets score on Ranieri's return to the KP.Now trail the Foxes 3-2.
Ade Lookman scores to give the Foxes a 4-2 lead vs the Hornets
Morning Boys
Ronaldo on the bench!!
De Gea
Shaw, Bailly, Lindeloff, Obiwan
Fred, McTom, Matic
Rash, Sancho, Bruno
Hate it
THREE HOLDING MIDFIELDERS!!!
SEVEN DEFENDERS!!!
Aberdeen ties it up at Celtic. Now 1-1. Rangers won 1-3 at Livingston earlier today
I can't believe NBCSN aren't showing ANY GAMES TODAY!
I thought the big one would be on the telly!!
I guess I have to watch Auto Sales
Some Spurs fan.... traveled all the way to Burnley for the match today....from DALLAS.... what a bummer!!
Brentford beat Everton 1-0
Fernandinho puts Citeh two up as they enter stoppage time
Good morning Dave.
Now Weekend at Bernies puts Citeh three up. Beat the offside trap and scored past the stranded Flappy
The Foxes have defeated the Hornets 4-2
I will watch the match on Peacock through Roku TV. Not the same but better than watching on the computer
Lanzini with a consolation goal for the Hammers . Nice shot off the underside of the bar
Actually a nice half volley off the post and Citeh have defeated the Hammers 3-1
Telles not Shaw
Morning, boys - I'm back from a refreshing Sunday shower to enjoy this one.
Apart from the Leicester result, I'm not at all happy with the scores this morning. The Brentford win is not helpful at all, as it lifts them to 12th again on 16 points. We'll need to bring them back to earth next weekend at Elland Road.

I am finally sitting down after moving the new dryer into the basement
I am upstairs in Tom's room....he just bought himself a new TV for his masters and new job
Back for the late match. An unlikely win would be a great kickstart for United's season
I have no confidence about this game
They're announcing Ralph Rangnick in at OT as a done deal now. Any thoughts, chaps?
Hey, maybe Everton could be down there instead of Brentford
Great to be around . Delighted for Tom about the new job and Telly.
I don't really understand why Chelsea are so good this season. They don't even have a proper striker? And how different is their squad from last season?
Is it a done deal?
I have no idea....so many people say how good he is...if so...why hasn't he managed any big boys!!!
He's managed Hoff, RB... Loco Moscow....not exactly the cream of the crop!
This TV is huge btw!!
Off we go
10th spot United!!!
They're off from SB .
COME ON UNITED!
And we're away now at the Bridge - come on, United!
Wish that TV was for Elizabeth and I, LOL!
United get the ball in the midfield...fail to go forward and lose it in the midfield
Dave, I was thinking the same. The Toffees could replace the Bees at the bottom. Teams normally trade positions throughout a season.
First shot....easy turn.... defend!!
To answer your question, Bob, I think he's German, but not the biggest name manager, but the biggest name currently available. Not sure that he will really improve United
More ATROCIOUS defending!!!!
Good save by De Gea
Horrible United defending and nice kick save by De Gea from Hudson-Odor for a Chelsea corner
He is supposedly the guru of Klopp and Tuchel
LeSox trying to cause controversy and being very DEEp that Bruno is better without Ronny
United just need to weather the high press storm for a bit and play themselves into this one.
Looks like we will have one Ralph and one Ralf in the Prem. Is the Prem ready for that
They can't tho!!
United's central defenders have been roasted already numerous times
I looked at Rangnick's career and since 2011 he 's had two different one season spells with Leipzig. Doesn't sound very encouraging. Sounds like he's a placeholder till the end off the season.
So bad by Lindeloff!!!
I'd prefer Bob to play there... even at his age and lack of hair
I agree, Dave. They've been roasted more than the Thanksgiving turkey we ate.
BOOM BOOM!
This is like a Prem team vs a L1 side in the Cup
The lack of hair shouldn't be a factor . Shelvey and John Hartson have copied Bob.
Ziyech called for a foul that makes me wonder if he has about of McTomain poisoning
Well...clearance headers could skim off easily
Hopefully , United don't suffer the same fate Juve did on Tuesday
United bore me....I hate it
It is 11 minutes in and United have not got with 30 yards from the box!!
Nice physics, Dave. I played with a full bushy head of hair ing the day. Good insight
will Ralf make United more exciting. I don't think so. He will probably make them more solid and not much else
United's first look every time is sideways and backwards.....NEVER FORWARD
Drives me nuts
Ralf will not United playing as if coached by Ralph Malph. Sound about right?
One of his comments was that the ball should not go backwards or sideways
I read that Ralf has been primarily a sporting director the past ten years and last summer signed a three year contract with Lokamotiv Moscow in that role. Perhaps he will take over that role once United find a permanent replacement in the summer
Matic... thinks he is still playing for Chelsea
STRAIGHT to a blue shirt
That is definitely an encouraging comment, Dave. Great to read. Hopefully he is an influence sooner rather than later , especially with the busy holiday schedule
LOL, Dave. Good thing Mata isn't playing or he would think the same and it does really Mata.
https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/13-quotes-to-explain-ralf-rangnicks-philosophy-heavy-metal-football/
Thanks for the confidence in my ability despite my age and lack of hair, Dave!
A ru8de challenge from Rudiger as he fouls Obi Wan . Does he think he's Darth Vader?
United has bored Bob to sleep already
United STILL hasn't got ANY WHERE near the box
United have the ball in the attacking half!!!
Weak effort!
Still no possession in the box or anywhere near it
Decent United possession ruined by a pass from Bruno to absolutely nobody
Bob will learn that en extra cuppa of strong coffee is needed to watch United
All this tactical talk bores me to tears!
I don't care what Le Sox thinks!!
United go sideways and backwards and lose the ball
Awful header by Obiwan
As for the bottom of the table, the good news for us is that we picked up a point on Everton, Soton, Watford, and Newcastle. We kept parity with Norwich - and Burnley didn't play today.
Only Brentford and Villa among the bottomish clubs won their matches.
Short goal kick.... and United lose it that half way line
TOOTHLESS
United with a chance.... Bruno fails to shoot or make a good pass
GRRRRR
I'm enjoying my second cuppa as we type, David.
I'll tell you what, when Leeds play at the Bridge, I'll more than take a boring first 23 minutes without anyone scoring, that's more sure. I'm worried we'll be absolutely tonked by Chelsea, City and Liverpool.
United won drew 0-0 and won 2-0 here last two visits
Martial and Maguire with the goals
Why did Bailly clear that...give it to De Gea!!
Resolute defending from United so far.
Le Sox is so pro Chelsea ....it was a foul!!
Two numpties trying to audition for a place at Comedy Club on the King's Road
Glad you're enjoying your cuppa, Bob. I had one two to prepare for the match.,
The defenders have settled down a little but they were awful to start...hence the Dahlgren call up
Carrick’s plan is clearly to take the game deep and then bring on Cristiano Ronaldo to score a last-minute winner. So far, so good, at least in terms of the scoreline.
Bob and Dave, you will be interested to note that Ralf did play one season with Southwick in the Mid Sussex League while we were students at LHS. I now you will be really impressed by that
How did United play with Tevez, Rooney, Scholes, Giggs, Carrick and Hargreaves.....now days....geez
Wow - you really are digging deep into the Rangnik bio, David. Well done!
This match reminds me of the match at the AMEX yesterday. I will take 0-0 as it's progress compared to the final matches of OGS's tenure
Rudi hits a rocket!! Great save!
PH! Long range rocket from Rudiger crashes off the bar , then the offside flag is raised. Le Socks said De Gea got a finger tip to that
Meslier made a similar save yesterday
Why did he watch us play and recruit us!!!
Oh - Rudiger prangs one onto the crossbar from distance. De Gea tipped it onto the bar, I think.
Twilight's taken a knock off the shoulder on the post.
United have no ability to attack!!!
LeSox anti United again
Werner with a shot deflected for a corner on the counter off a pass from Hudson-Odoi. It started with a table by Thiago Silva on Bruno
A point would be good for you lot today. Keep in mind that Chelsea are top of the pops right now. In our case, Brighton were/are mid-table at best.
Thanks, Bob. I got the Ralf in fo from Wikipedia.
Players shouldn't commentate on their ex teams unless they can be unbiased
Dixon no Arsenal games
Le Sox no Chelsea games
Neville no United games
Carra no Pool games
United are just plain awful
If Ralf watched us then Dave definitely would have had a decent career in Germany. I'm confident of that
I guess they counted Bruno's "shot" as an attempt
A draw would leave Chelsea top, a point ahead of Citeh and two ahead of Pool. It's definitely looking to be a three horse race
What was that from Bruno!!!
Decent save by de Gea from hudson-Odoi off a shocking back pass from Bruno
What is the point of playing a game not going out to try and score and win
SAF always said United went out to win every game... not any more
Again, I don't always go back to SAF.. I know it was a special time but we did it under Atkinson, Docherty and Busby
Sexton didn't and got the boot
I was watching replays of Men in Blazers last night and one of them described the title race as menage a trois. Not sure I like that description
I don't care that it is still 0-0
I am so fed up
I'll stop commenting if you want me to
That's a great description. Sexton was thirty years ahead of his time, but not for the right reasons. I don't think his teams at Chelsea and QPR played that way
So poor by Sancho...can't dribble!!
To be fair, apart from that De Gea save from the Rudiger shot from distance, Chelsea haven't had that many scoring chances.
We still want your insight, Dave. We may get a surprise and a change in the course of the match.
I'm sure Citeh and Pool fans are pleased with proceedings.
SO BAD.... Bailly to Fred to Rash..... UNBELIEVABLE!!
Nah - keep commenting, Dave.
The 606 crew were commenting yesterday that Rangnik's tenure might be similar to the first few months of OGS where he rescued a poor start to the season under Mourinho and United finished in the top four. They're predicting a top four finish for United. It could happen!
A FORWARD BALL!!
Too high for Sancho and he couldn't control it
41 minutes...still no touches inside the box
United touch the ball in the box
SHOOT
Rudiger thinks that Fred made too much of that - and there's a bit of argybargy about it.
Fred goes down looking for a penalty. Never a penalty but a horrible flop. The last person we want in that position that ruins a great possession
McTom in the book....never a card....never a foul
I may be behind the times, but read that Ralf will be in charge till the end of the season then be in consultancy role foe the next two seasons. Not sure if that info was already mentioned
I hate players that complain to other players about acting.....they do it too!
How about everyone stopping
Into stoppage time as Chelsea have a free kick
De tea well to push around the free kick from Reese James that eluded everyone
Blow up Ref....there should be no added time
De Gea saves a free kick
Corner....goes behind
That's half time
0-0
UNITED ARE BLOODY USELESS
Corner headed over by Trevor Chalobah and it's 0-0 at the half.
As things stand United are eight, but would go up to sixth place ahead of Nuno's previous two clubs if they get an unlikely win
0-0 at half-time - not a bad scoreline for United.
The second half is underway from SB
Ralf is really knowledgeable about the Bundesliga , so there may be some signings or loans from there in January headed to OT
I've moved downstairs.... Peacock taking forever to load!
I HATE IT
No changes?
Matic can't dribble the ball going forward
Come on, United!
United lose the ball at the back AGAIN....YOU'RE NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!!
Foul and in the book from Rash... of course.... the Two Numpties want to ruin the contest and get a red card
Rash booked for a stupid foul on Trevor Chalobah after modern day defending from United.
Free kick chance for the Blues...headed out twice
United
UNITED BREAK......SANCHO SCORES!!!
WAY HAY ! SANCHO WITH HIS FIRST PREM GOAL FOR UNITED SCORES OPN THE COUNTER TO GIVE UNITED THE LEAD
Yes! Jorginho bollixes it up entirely and Sancho runs through to slot home his first goal for United!
0-!
Nothing is wrong with a Kadumph
Smart finish by Sancho
A special thanks to Jorginho for horribly misjudging a long United clearance off the Chelsea free kick and Sancho was off to the raises, scoring past the stranded Mendy
More misery for Jorginho....love it!! Bloody Euros
I fear United will sit back even more now
It also helps when someone like Jorginho lends a helping hand. Not complaining about that at all
Matt is here for the day...he said to me and Tom....there isn't a worse midfield in the Prem than United
McTom, Fred, Matic
Go forward Bruno!!
James in the book
Le Socks says it's difficult to know what Jorginho should have done in that situation. Well, anything but gifting possession to the opposition. Lots of other alternatives available
BTW, I didn't have much confidence that United would finish that off..I thought it would be passed and Rash didn't keep behind the ball
NO ONE IN THE BOX...GET IN THERE!
Chelsea still top, but only ahead of Citeh on goal difference and one point ahead of Pool. United up to sixth place ahead of Wolves on goals scored.
More snow in ENY
I was thinking the same about the goal. I was wondering if Sancho was going to finish that off.
Chelsea wins a corner in Tongue N Cheek fashion
Nice United counter off the Chelsea corner then ruined by an atrocious pass from Fred.
United break... comes to end when Rash doesn't attack the Fred cross at the back post
Werner wins a corner off of Eric Bailey, not Gary
Atrocious defending off the Chelsea corner and if it had fallen to anyone other than Werner , Chelsea would have tied it up.
Werner with a chance....hit wide
Arlo...so creative....SCREAMS his name
The worse thing is when they do it on radio!!
You're not a fan...you're the listener's eyes...describe don't react
The Tractor Boys defeated Motley Crewe 2-1 to move upon to 11th place win L1
Ronny undressing
CR about to come on. That will definitely help United
I would take off Rashford
United only have to hang on for half an hour for a somewhat improbable win.
The Two Numpties opening up their attack on bringing on Ronaldo...they will use it when United lose
Celtic defeated Aberdeen 2-1 and remain four points behind Rangers ,who won 1-3 at Livingston earlier today
Rash breaks....he's Sterling in disguise...no idea what to do with it
United still haven't scored ONE goal from a set piece
I would have preferred to have the Two Ronnies broadcasting than the two numpties,.
It's Ronaldo time!
United did score off of Chelsea's set piece. Does that count?
Loftus-Cheek so open but fails to shoot...okay with me
Good point David!
CR's only goal against Chelsea in fifteen appearances was the header in the 2008 CL Final.
Thanks, Dave.
CR in for Sancho, the scorer.
Sancho is off
Arlo just mentioned that the goal has been United's only shot on target so far
Twenty five minutes for United to hang on now. Come on!
Free kick from Reese James headed out for a Chelsea corner. Arlo says it's their 11th of the match. United scored off of one of them
Geez....a penalty kick for Chelsea
It was a late call
NEVER A PEN
Ah bugger! Penalty to Chelsea. Let's hope Jorginho misses another one.
BUGGER! Chelsea wins a penalty off the corner. Was Bruno called for that? I think it was a stupid trip by Obi wan on Thiago Silva
Rubbish call. Surely VAR will reverse that, no?
I thought it was questionable . Is VAR reviewing it?
Nope....modern day football is crap
Hopefully, Jorginho will sky it over as he did vs Switzerland
Jorginho comes up....1-1
BUGER! STUPID STUTTER STEP, BIUT PLACES IT IN THE CORNER, SENDING DE GEA THE WRONG WAY. NOW 1-1
Why are they going so gaga about that penalty!!
I don't get it
Sorry, chaps.
That should have been a foul on Bailly to start
Cue the Two Numpties bring up the Ronaldo subbing in a few minutes
Pass from Reese James cut out by Fred for a Chelsea corner. That's now a dozen corner for them . This one cleared
There it is....I called it!!!
Thanks, Bob. In a manner of speaking, both goals came from Chelsea corners
It is so ridiculous to bring that up...wasn't his fault at all
