An Early London Derby
Morning, chaps! I'm up at the crack as usual to watch a top of the table London Derby between table-topping Chelsea and fourth placed West Ham. I'm going to guess that, under the circumstances, that you lot will want a Chelsea win. After all, the top three seem to have cut themselves off from the pack of sides battling for that last Champions League spot.
After that one, we have the 10am kickoffs including the relegation dogfight between Newcastle and Burnley on NBC Sports. I'll take a draw in that one. And finally, the late one on NBC is Watford v. Citeh. I'm hoping that Citeh score hatfuls against the Hornets at Vicarage Road.
Wake up and join me, eh lads!

The teams are coming out at Upton Park to the sound of I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles:
West Ham United: Fabianski, Zouma, Dawson, Diop, Coufal, Soucek, Rice, Johnson, Bowen, Lanzini, Antonio.
Subs: Yarmolenko, Fornals, Vlasic, Areola, Noble, Benrahma, Masuaku, Kral, Ashby.
Chelsea: Mendy, Christensen, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, James, Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Alonso, Ziyech, Mount, Havertz.
Subs: Arrizabalaga, Lukaku, Pulisic, Werner, Saul, Barkley, Hudson-Odoi, Azpilicueta, Sarr.
Referee: Andre Marriner (West Midlands).
We're away in this early London Derby, with the Hammers wearing their traditional colors and Chelsea wearing, well, yellow and black for some reason.
Good Morning, Bob. Just woke up and have a hot pot of coffee brewing. How are you?
Chelsea dominating possession in these opening exchanges - the home teams's having difficulty getting going.
Morning, David - I'm feeling peachy at the end of Week 14 of the semester. I've only got the Reading Week and Finals Week left now.
Some big matches in the Championship. Yesterday at your house the top two played to a 1-1 draw as the Cherries visited in a return to your place for Scottty Parker
WOW! Delighted for you. Well done, Bob
Today third vs fifth in the Championship as Coventry vs the Baggies taking place in a promotion six pointer Midlands Derby
At 10 AM Toon vs Burnley on NBCSN
Wolves vs Liverpool on USA
Saints vs Seagulls on the Cock
In the late one on NBC it's the Hornets vs Citeh
Thanks, mate - it feels good. As of a couple of weeks from now, I'll officially be on sabbatical leave.
I'll be watching that relegation dogfight - it's vital that that one is a draw. I want some distance between Leeds and the bottom three going into the holiday period when we might likely lose four on the trot.
It's well deserved, Bob and I know you will enjoy it. Hopefully, there will be time to visit each other during this time period
Chelsea haven't looked convincing in the last two weeks or so. Perhaps they're feeling the pressure of playing on all fronts.
I'd love that, mate.
Jorginho talks himself into a yellow card there.
Since there are only three 10 AM matches i'll use the PIP to watch the two televised matches and watch the South Coast Derby on the IMAC
Cheers, Bob. Looking forward to that
Antonio bullies Christensen there but then fires over from an acute angle.
If Chelsea were to drop points today, both Citeh and Liverpool could overtake them with winnable matches against lower opposition.
Free header for Kai the Guy off a cross from Reese James saved by Flappy
That would help me tremendously in the PP and would turn around the standings. If Citeh goes top I'm back in the title race, I think
Tomorrow both are United's play at 9 AM . The Dave's United on NBCSN and Bob's on the COCK.
GOAL! Thiago leaps high to nod Chelsea into the lead from a corner.
0-1 Blues!
GOAL! THIAGO SILVA GIVES CHELSEA THE LEAD
I'll be watching both, of course.
Oh - off the line from Coufal there. That would have been an immediate response.
OH! After scoring , Thiago Silva now prevents an equalizer as he clears a shot off the line from Coufal
Now West Ham have to come out of their shells. It's embarrassing that they've been playing like the away side at London Stadium, but Moyes does like to play that way.
I'll watch with matches too. The other two matches tomorrow are Sopuds vs Canaries and the late one Villa vs Foxes. Those other two don't look too appetizing
Oh - Mount squares a dangerous ball - it only needed a touch. Chelsea really turning the screw.
Back to the goal. It came from successive Mounted corners. The second one was a free header for Thiago Silva as he leapt up to head in and Flappy got his finger tips to it off the inside of the post as it crept in.
I'm hoping for a Spuds win and a Foxes win. If we can get a win and the results go in our favor this weekend, we could be 14th or so going into that tough holiday schedule.
This leaves the race for the top four spot wide open with the two North London clubs and United having a chance of finishing fourth by Monday evening.
United vs Palace Sunday
Spurs vs Canaries Sunday
Wolves vs Pool today
Toffees vs Gunners Monday
Bob, you will be interested or surprised to not the that Villa could end up as high as ninth if they defeat the Foxes which is possible. Sounds like you may need to modify the rubric a little as Villa may be a top half side with Stevie G in charge
The Daves will be going for the Canaries as 4th place is on the line
Oh - what a ball's up in the Chelsea box. Terrible backpass by Jorginho and Bowen was onto it. Mendy tried to deal with it and brought the Hammer down. Penalty!
PENALTY HAMMERS ! WHAT WAS MENDY THINKING. THAST WAS WAS A RTEALLY DAFT CHALLENGE ON JARRED BOWEN. NO NEED TO DO THAT
Mendy's had seven clean sheets out of 14 so far but he'll have to be spry to keep this one from Lanzini out.
GOAL! Lanzini nets it and the Hammers are back in it as the first half winds down.
MANNY LANZINI TO TAKE
GOAL! HE TIES IT UP FROM THE SPOOT WITH A WELL TAKEN PENALTY IN THE UPPER 90 , SENDING MENDY THE WRONG WAY
Mendy stays at Dave's lucky seven for clean sheets
Chelsea could be as low as third if they fail to win this match. Gunners in position to be fourth if this finishers a draw. I could see them winning at Goodison
If Dave were around, he'd be shaking his head at the absurdity of that penalty concession. It didn't need to happen; Chelsea were in full control.
Baggies one up at Coventry and overtake QPR for third place. Coventry down to sixth place
Yeah - the Toffees are in rotten form, having lost four of the last five. Definitely a winnable match. And the pressure will pile on Rafa Benitez if they do win that one. He might not last until the New Year.
I was shaking my head when I saw it . I couldn't believe it
My suggestion on your rubric is too have Villa and the Toffees trade roles. Villa looking to be a top half side with Stevie G
We could easily get three yo-yo clubs coming back up this year - Bournemouth, Fulham and WBA.
GOAL! Mason Mount puts Chelsea back into the lead on the stroke of half time with a sumptuous volley!
GOAL ! THAT'SA MOUNTED SHOT TO GIVE CHELSEA A 1-2 LEAD
It was a great volley but Flappy could have saved it at the near post. Ten a Tongue N Cheek pass played wide left and a great cross from Ziyech resulted in that Mounted volley
I'm not so sure about Villa. They've gotten a bump from Stevie G. coming in but they've still lost three of the last five and are only a point better than us. They won't be in relegation trouble but I'd like them in a pack below Leeds.
Just to let you know those are three I picked for promotion in the PPP.
I'm off to wake up the missus as we head toward half time.
Art Masuaku on for the injured Ben Johnson
It's possible , Bob. Villa's only loss under Stevie G was a close one vs Citeh . I think any manager would have lost vs Citeh.
Chelsea player down. Not sure which player it is. I think it's Jorginho as they now replay his role in the Hammers penalty
Baggies now two up at Coventry
Chelsea lead 1-2 at the half
In the Cup Morecambe and Wise have taken the lead at Buxton
An unusual role for Morecambe and Wise today as they normally like too have very little possession today, but since they're playing lower ranked opposition they have two thirds and very few long balls compared to their normal Burnley style of play
Tommy Tuchel forced to make a substitution as Kai the Guy picked up a knock and is replaced by the Chunk
We're back on for the second half now, as Romelu Lukaku is unleashed on this match.
The second half is underway as the fans loudly sing the famous Hammers theme song
We'll see if Moyes will allow the Hammers to press forward a bit more.
It's Gooner's 60th birthday today, btw.
Just a reminder that today is Steve's birthday. Happy Birthday to our Gooner
That's a big milestone. Well done, Steve
Welcome back, Bob
A fairly quiet start to the half as both teams scope each other out.
Oh - dangerous corner there. Could have easily gone in.
After the Mersey Derby on Wednesday there was discussion about Raffa and the consensus was not to blame Raffa as other managers with the same group of players had similar problems. They blamed the Sporting Director for expensive signings that can't break into the side , that the Toffees chop and change managers too quickly, and that another manager won't really do any better with the same group of players. Your thoughts on what the panel on NBCSN thought?
Off to help Kate with the brekkies prep - back in a tick.
Cheers, mate. Send my regards. Looking forward to hearing from you later
GOAL ! JARRAD BOWEN MAKES IT DESMOND
An unusual Hammers type goal under Davie Moyes as it came from a lengthy possession off a short goal kick . A cross from Antonio was headed away and Coufal won tackle and passed for Jarred Bowen to unleash a powerful shoot in the bottom corner from just outside the box.
Thiago Silva fouls Jarred Bowen
Bowen involved in both goals then. This is more competitive than I thought it might be.
An attacking change from Tommy T as Hudson-Odoi on for Ziyech. Chelsea has one substitution remaining
Welcome back, Bob. It's a cracker to start Steve's birthday
Oh - Mason Mount could have done better with that chance.
A mounted shot is straight to Flappy.
I'm enjoying an apple coffee cake with some banana on the side for brekkies now.
An attacking change from Davie Moyes as Pablo Fornals Zoumaed on the pitch. Both managers have only one substitution remaining
Sounds like a great brekkies. I heated up two leftover biscuits that Elizabeth made yesterday
The final roll of the dice from Tommy T and great to see both managers going for it as Pulsic on for Marcos Alonso
On comes the American hero Christian Pulisic - Marcos Alonso off.
Oh - I love a biscuit for brekkies.
Oh - Bowen stretches out a leg but just can't direct in Antonio's cross.
OH! The Hammers nearly took the lead. Ball played wide right to Antonio and despite being well marked put a great pass into the box and an out stretched Jarred Bowen shot just wide
Flappy forced to tip around a side footed shot from Jorginho
A Mounted header well blocked off the corner
Benrahma about to come on, probably for Lanzini.
It's the final roll of the dice for Davie Moyes and the sub is subbed. The announcers Said Benhrama came on for Lanzini. No changes left for either side
Coventry pulls it back to 1-2 vs the Baggies. A late dramatic finale there
Oh - look at that strike! Masuaku with a real corker that totally caught Mendy off!
GOAL ! THAT'S PURE ART FROM MASUAKU TO GIVE THE HAMMERS A 3-2 LEAD.
That was a really unusual goal that came off a throw from Masuaku to Antonio and played back to Masuaku near the touchline and from there a speculative shot caught out Mendy oat the near post which may have taken a Tongu N Cheeky nick. Still credit to him for the effort
Jarred Bowen shoots over with just Mendy to beat Could have been 4-2
As things stand it's a wide open title race and Chelsea could be third by the end of the day
A Barber Shop Quartet of stoppage time minutes which could be sung to the tune of "I'm forever Blowing Bubbles" in a winning tune
Christiansen booked for a foul from behind off a long ball from Art Masuaku
It's over and we have a title race on our hands as the Hammers have surprisingly defeated Chelsea 3-2
The Hammers remain in fourth place while Pool or Citeh could be top by the end of the day. Chelsea could be as low as third place
This is Chelsea's second Prem defeat of the season and the first away from home since the last match of last season at Villa Park
The Midlands Derby promotion six pinter is over as the Baggies are now third place after winning 1-2 at Coventry in sixth place. The match that may change this is tomorrow is QPR vs Stoke. Ing QPR wins, they will go third above the Baggies. If Stoke wins they go sixth ahead ope Coventry. If it's a draw Coventry and the Baggies will remain in their current positions
What a crazy result there - I'm just back from having a birthday chat with the Gooner. He's off to have a nice day out at the Scottish Parade.
So now odds on that either Citeh or Liverpool will win their games and end up on top of the table.
And that Chelsea loss gives me just a bit of hope that we might pull out a point against an out of sorts Chelsea side next weekend.
I'll take draws in both the relegation dogfight as well as the Southampton v. Brighton.
Morecambe and Wise hang on to win 0-1 at Buxton in the Cup. They were given quite a match by a side way down the pyramid
A Seagulls win could take them as high as sixth place ahead of the matches tomorrow. I expect Citeh to be top by the end of the day. That would move me and some others up the PPP table
North of the Border, St. Johnny vs Ross County called off due to a waterlogged pitch
In a Scottish Cup replay, Darvel FC vs Brechin City presumably called off for the same reason
I have the matches from NBCSN and USA on the PIP and the South Coast Derby on the IMAC
They're off from Molineaux
Then from SJP and a few seconds later from St. Mary's
Cheltenham takes an early lead at theReal Dons in the Cup

In L1 Black Cats on top vs Oxford Shirts. Black Cats now fourth behind the top three teams on goal difference

Nice save by McCarthy off a powerful shot from Trossard
Teesiders on top vs the Swans
I'm back from a refreshing shower to enjoy the 10am kickoff matches. So far, so good with the relegation dogfight. A 0-0 would suit me just fine.
Cambridge vs Exeter is 1-1 in the Cup
Welcome back, Bob. If you read my comments you may observe they're not exactly G rated.
TAA volleys over off a nice long diagonal pass
Also 0-0 in the South Coast Derby. A point between them would push Soton up to 14th on 16 points and Brighton would stay in 9th on 20 points. That suits me as well.
GOAL ! BROIJA GIVES THE SIANTS THE LEAD WITH A GREAT PIECE OF SKILL
No one wants a visual of Trump on top of Jayne Mansfield, mate - I'm still scarred by the details included in that Stormy Daniels memoir.
Not good for us at all - the Saints take the lead in the South Coast Derby.
A poor clearance e by Robert Sanchez was headed on at the halfway line then headed on by Redmond. Then Armando Broja turned Shane Duffy Kenny Dalglish style then shot in the corner to give the Saints the lead
LOL, mate. I also had a comment of St. Helen Mirren being spanked. Do you want a visual of that?
Saints up to 11th place, a point behind the Seagulls
Barrow takes a surprise lead at PR in the Cup unless the Tractor Boys are playing a reserve side
In L1 Accrington Stanley takes the lead vs Fleetwood Mac in a Lancashire Derby . Fleetwood Mac third from bottom in L1

Another piece of Cup news . Donny Trump the first to score at home in the Cup today. I'm sure that doesn't surprise you one bit
Wasall ties it up vs Swindon in the Cup
Terriers on top at Barnsley as is Cardiff vs the Evil Blades
GOAL ! CALLY WILSON GIVES THE TOON THE LEAD VS BURNLEY
GOAL! Cally Wilson rockets home an opener for Eddie Howe's Newcastle side. If one of these sides has to win, Newcastle would be the better one. It would put all of the bottom clubs on 10 points, five behind us.
var checking to see if there was a foul on nick pope while attempting to gather a cross. there wasn't. he went into a Toon player then Cally wilson scored and chipped the player on the line for a nice finish
Correct, Bob. All three clubs on ten pints and strangely no positional changes
The Real Dons have come from behind to take a 2-1 lead vs Cheltenham in the Cup
Shane Duffy booked for the Seagulls. His fifth booking and he is suspended for the match vs the Spuds
Luton oil top at the Tangerines while the Evil Lions have gone two up vs Brum
Nick Pope won't want to watch Match of the Day tonight - really poor effort from him.
Harrogate has taken the lead at Fratton Park in the Cup. Sorry, Dave
Saints one up at the half vs the Seagulls thanks to the skillful goal by Armando Broja
The Reading Railroad on top vs the Tigers
Oxford United ties it up at the SOL
It's 0-0 at the half at Molineaux
Toon one up vs Burnley at the half
I'm surprised by that one - Liverpool have been on a tear of late.
Dave will be pleased that Pompey have ties it up vs Harrogate in first half stoppage time
Pool currently second place, ahead of Citeh on goal difference and a point behind Chelsea
Barnsley tied it up vs the Terriers on the stroke of halftime, but still second from bottom, eight points from safety
Rangers on top vs Crocodile Dundee at the half
The second half is underway from St. Mary's
Now underway from Molineux
Now underway from SJP
The second half coverage is starting up again.
Accrington Stanley two up vs relegation threatened Fleetwood Mac in a L1 Lancashire Derby

The free kick JWP curled in and nearly an equalizer as it clips the top of the net
