Saturday's Alright for Football
Morning, boys - I'm up early to catch the first match between Citeh and Wolves. I'm hoping that the table toppers will be able to put Wolves, who are currently 8th, to the sword. That's followed by the usual 10am EST kickoffs, including Arsenal v. Soton on NBC Sports (Arsenal win there, please), Liverpool v. Villa on USA (and a Liverpool win there, please) and of course my beloved Leeds boys away to Chelsea on The Cock.
The late one is your United boys at our old stomping grounds at Carrow Road against the Canaries. Of course, I'm hoping that United will put another nail in Norwich's coffin. And I'm hoping you'll join me for a full day of the good stuff.

Substitutes: Ruddy, Hoever, Marcal, Boly, Podence, Cundle, Trincao, Fabio Silva, Hwang.
Referee Jonathan Moss.
All eyes on Bernardo Silva this morning, as he's in frightening form, having scored five goals in six matches. Who needs a center forward when you've got three or four false #9s?
And we're away in this one, Cith wearing their traditional colors and Wolves wearing their change kit of all black.
Good Morning, Bob. I just woke up and have a pot of coffee brewing
Morning, David - great to have you on board this morning. How's the move going?
Naughty by Dendondcker on Jack Grealish then off the short free kick just wide by Cancelko from just outside the box
Thanks, Bob. The move is keeping us really busy , so this is a welcome break. Ho have you been. Has your sabbatical started
Then Weekend at Bernies shoots just wide from the edge of the box
The day starts with Manchester , so it will finish with Manchester
Slow start to this match, with Citeh predictably dominating possession and Wolves predictably dropping deep.
Grealish and Jesus have swapped places. I suspect that’ll happen a few times today.
Watching Citeh's ton of short passes is not the best if you're just waking up
The Terriers take the lead vs Coventry
A latest Spursy update is that in addition to the already canceled matches, their match at the KP may also be canceled on Thursday
Agreed - Wolves have been able to frustrate Citeh so far.
Long range shot from Joe Cancelo Sa went straight to his compatriot
That is scandalous - I don't know why the league allows Spurs to get away with it.
Wasn't their Europa League matched called off as well?
City have been totally dominant, though Jose Sa has only had one save to make, and it was an easy one.
I'd be happy if that were to happen on Tuesday afternoon.
I'm Sure you're not pleased Leeds is on the Cock today, but Steve is pleased that the Gunners vs Saints is on the telly instead as the Saints go marching into the EM as he wants be in that number when the Saints come marching in oh to the EM
Oh - Sterling nearly in there but Sa beat him to the ball.
Correct, Bob. Spurs actually had a Conference League match called off. They have to win that to advance in that competition. Not sure how that works as the draw for the knockout stages of the European competitions is on Monday
I'm sure you would be delighted with a draw at the EM on Tuesday. I won't be around for the midweek matches as we will be on the road/ moving in to the new house
I'm used to it, mate. Obviously we're not the entertaining side that lit up the league last season, so the telly companies aren't as interested. I'm just happy to have any coverage. It still seems amazing to be able to watch my team every weekend, after all those years in the wilderness.
Two Wolves players clash head as it was Ruben Neves and Max Kilman. Kilman still down with blood on his head which could Kil that man
Fortunately, I've got the afternoon off on Tuesday, so I'll have my feet up enjoying what could be ritual slaughter of my lot.
Agreed, Bob. Good to have Leeds back in the big time
Kilman is having his head bandaged. Neves is still lying on his back, though he is conscious.
I just checked and the match at the Etihad on Tuesday is televised. My United will be on the Cock on Tuesday
Steve vs Johnny on the telly on Wednesday with Chelsea vs the Toffees televised on Thursday.
Kilman is finally up on his pins and joining the headband club with Raul Jimenez. Neves is still down getting treeatment.
Max Kilman finally up as his forehead has been bandaged. There should be close to five minutes of stoppage time at the end of the half
I'll be in my final during Wednesday's festivities but should be around again on Thursday.
Agreed, Bob. The headband club for men where he's a member
Play has resumed
Wolves would probably have taken a forty minute stoppage - they've had very little ambition in this match.
After today I will be around part of the day tomorrow for the rubbish matches then not again till a week from tomorrow
Agreed, Bob, but probably under different circumstances
A bit of a ruck now as Sterling streaks through and has been accused of elbowing Saiss in the face.
Talking about stoppages, a Wolves player is down . It's time wasting as Sterling barely touched him
Pre saisily, Bob.
I just need to get through my finals this week, get my grading done by the end of next weekend and we'll be on the road down to Virginia Monday week with a sabbatical leave stretching out in front of me.
Corner from Jack Grealish headed wide by La Porte
Citeh fans not happy with all of these stoppages. It's certainly disrupting the flow of the Citeh attack.
WOW! By the time you're in Virginia you will be about seven hours away from us
These "stoppages" are really unethical and somehow need to be eliminated from football. It's really cheating and a lack of sportsmanship
Grealish is knocked over by Coady and Citeh have a free kick as the first half begins to wind down.
Connor Coady fouls Jack Grealish just outside the Wolves box
Wolves keep trying to spring Adama Traore and this time it produces a foul and yellow card for Rodri.
Rodri booked for a foul from behind on Adama Traore as he was attempting to start a counter
Connor Coady heads out a cross for a Citeh corner
YIKES! Dave's Lucky Seven stoppage time minutes. That's more than I expected
Raul Jimenez booked for a late challenge
Now Raul picks up a needless yellow for holding back Rodri.
And now he's off! What a silly boy - he didn't retreat at the free kick and gave the ref some backchat. Wolves down to ten men!
BLOODY HELL! Then second later really stupid behavior from Jimenez as he presents a free kick from being taken and all that good Wolves work may be ruined as they're now down to ten men. Really stupid
I'm going to credit Raul with winning the category of First Player to be Sent off for a Second Yellow for a Silly Offense.
Now he's taking forever to get off the pitch. He will be suspended for the next match and in danger of making it two as he took a while to get off the pitch
Agreed. I think he definitely wins and didn't think anybody picked him as that's not typical behavior from him
Cithe want a penalty for hand ball on Max Kilman. it looked like he had his arms by his side , so it shouldn't be
It's 0-0 at the half and boos from Citeh fans, presumably for Wolves antics
An ill-tempered first half comes to an end. Wolves would have been quite happy to go in 0-0, but that Raul sending off really changes the complexion of the match.
The second half is underway from the Etihad
We're away in the second half now. Citeh have struggled to break down Wolves so far but they have a man advantage now.
Not a capacity crowd with very few people in the cheap seats, or the nosebleed section as all tickets are probably expensive for Citeh matches
Citeh straight onto the front foot, of course.
I'm expecting some Citeh goals against the ten men
All Citeh pressure now, producing a succession of corners.
Nice chipped pass from Cancelo and a Sterling opuses blocked by Coady for a Citeh corner then a shot off the short corner blocked for another
Corner from Gundogan headed away by Semedo , the first man
Another Citeh corner
Ryan Ait-Nouri concedes another corner toCiteh
Dendoncker heads for another Citeh corner
Jesus volleys just over as Cancelo just managed to keep the ball in play and was able to put in a cross
WOW! Citeh have had 93% of the possession this half. I thought it would be pretty high. I've never seen a side have that much possession
Sterling goes down but nothing doing from John Moss. I think he's got a reputation earned from his shenanigans during the Euros this summer.
OH! Connor Coady heads off the line . The closest Citeh have come to scoring
Oh - off the line by Coady - he's just about keeping his side in this one.
First change for Citeh - Foden replaces Gundogan.
Phil Foden on for Gundogan . Pretty much like for like
Agreed, Bob, but I think Sterling has had a reputation for going down easily most of his career
That Sa was a comfortable save from a volley from Zinchenko after a cross was headed out
Sterling eneds to quit going down so easily. John Moss isn't falling for his falling nonsense
It appears that Wolves is playing a 7-3-0 formation.
Wnag Chung about to come on for Wolves. He's a true number nine, so it sounds like a tactical change
And Sterling goes down again - same result. Jon Moss not impressed by his antics today.
Sterling wins a corner off of Air-Nouri
I wouldn't be surprised if it were a 9-1-0 formation.
PENALTY CITEH WOLVES PLAYERS ARE FURIOUS
Moutinho called for hand ball off his compatriot, weekend at Bernie's during the weekend
VAR checking and it looks like it just missed the arm., This should be overturned
Penalty to Citeh! Jon Moss has seen enough. Joao Moutinho penalized for a handball.
When they did the aerial view it looked like three defensive middies ion front off the Wolves defenders.
VAR Check finds that it is a penalty - that seems fair to me.
Sterling to take....
VAR says penalty. I thought it just missed his arm.
GOAL! Cheeky one rolled down the middle by Razza. Moutinho is still upset but Wolves now have to chase this one.
1-0 Citeh!
GOAL ! A STERLING PENALTY SA DOES GIVE CITEH THE LEAD
And that's the ton up for Raheem - well done, him.
Went straight down the middle . That's what Wolves get for their lack of ambition even though I thought it was a harsh decision
A tactical change for Wolves as a striker on for a winger. Everybody let's Wang Chung tonight on for Adama Traore
That's good news for me as Citeh will stay top and Your's Truly still inthe PPP title race
It will be tough for Wolves to comeback with ten men and a defensive formation
Jack freakish should have put Citeh two up as he was alone at the far post and din't make the correct contact and sliced over off a Sterling cross
Hwang Hee-Chan comes on for the ineffectual Traore. He's scored a few this season and Wolves definitely need something from him today.
OH! That Sa was a nice close range block from Weekend at Bernie's on the weekend as Citeh threaten to go two up
KDB on for Jack Grelaish. The last thing A tired Wolves side wants to see
This would be a second loss in a row for Wolves, who I can't see getting back into this one now. That would allow both United and Arsenal to consolidate their Europa League positions.
Grealish comes on and KDB replaces him - no reprieve for the Wolves defenders.
I don't blame Traore as he was all alone up front, especially when Wolves went down to ten men. He really didn't get help from his teammates and there have been Wolves players who have done worse today. Just my tuppence worth
The Gunners currently in a Conference League spot, depending on who wins the cups. Hammers in the last CL spot, Spurs in the automatic EL spot, weight United in a possible EL spot and the Gunners in a possible Conference League spot. Wolves two points behind the Gunners. It's tight and competitive in the part of the table
At 10 AM Pool vs Villa on USA, Gunners vs Saints on NBCSN ,and Chelsea vs Leeds on the Cock
The late one is the Canaries vs United on NBC
Jesus Sa does have his near post shot saved for a corner
Cancelo Sa does head straight to his compatriot off the corner
Cancelo willl not Hwang Chung tonight after being booked for a foul and suspended for the match vs Leeds on Tuesday. Plenty of replacements though due to Citeh's depth
Trincao on for Ruben Neves
Danny Podence on for Dendoncker. That's an attacking change but why so late
Daniel Podense on for Dendoncker to try to rescue a point now. What's the point - Wolves haven't managed a shot on goal all match long. How on earth are Wolves eighth?
I fully expect us to challenge Citeh more than Wolves have, although we may well concede more goals.
That Sa was a decent save from a Phil Foden shot
Oh - Foden with a shot on the turn that Sa parries away. No one following up. That's the sort of chance that a proper #9 would snap up.
The announcer just said that Wolves have scored once in the last six Prem matches. That's a great point, Bob
Coventry ties it up deep in stoppage time at the Terriers. Coventry seventh , behind the Potters on goal difference
Into four minutes of stoppage time now.
Great block by Kilman there to deny Foden again.
A Barber Shop quartet of stoppage time minutes. Will Citeh be singing to the tune of as victory in that genre
Hiya Boys
Had are old Via Lino neighbors over last night. Had a bit of a lie in....I won't wake up for City ever!!
Shame Wolves didn't score there!
Oh - best chance of the match for Wolves. A sweeping move that produces a decent cross that Kilman gets his head to. Tipped over by Ederson.
OH ! Wolves nearly tied it up on a really rare attack. Cross from Danny Podence from the left and Ederson tipped over a header from Max Kilman. Then Kilman heads straight to Ederson off the corner
Good morning, Dave. Great reason for a late lie in
Morning, Dave - great to have you on board this morning. How are you feeling now after that oral surgery this week. Back to normal?
The two Kilman chances show why 1-0 is a dangerous score
Really cynical from Wolves - they haven't played at all for 90 minutes and they think that they deserve a point from a last gasp equalizer. I hate them.
I have had absolutely no pain whatsoever! It is annoying sometimes with no tooth but I'm fine
Thanks for asking
City win.....zzzzz
It's over and Citeh defeat a really defensive ten man Wolves 1-0. Citeh remain to this weekend
And that's that - Citeh run out the winners and deservedly so. Wolves never came to play a match of football but just to game their way to a point. They deserve to be relegation threatened.
Can't believe they put Chelsea Leeds on the Cock
Glad you're not in pain and you feel better after last weekend
That's great to hear. Are you going to get a replacement?
Terriers vs Coventry finished 1-1
Well, Stevie G's return to Anfield is a better story. I can't complain.
I'm back from some dishwashing to settle in for the 10 am matches. I'll have Arse v. Soton on the box and Chelsea v. Leeds on the phone.
This match starts a frightening sequence of holiday fixtures for us. After Chelsea today, we've got Citeh away on Tuesday, then Arsenal at home next weekend and Liverpool away on Boxing Day.
Added to that is that we've got three hamstring injuries - skipper Liam Cooper, team talisman Kal Phillips and top goalscorer Patrick Bamford.
The media always build up the Premier League and the race to the title...so many times they say it is going to be an exciting race and then City run away with it.
This year, they have said it could a three horse race for the ages.....sadly, I think City is going to to run away with it again!
Liverpool might be able to keep up with them for a while but I don't think Chelsea will
Ordinarily, I'd be scared about today's match. After all, Chelsea beat us 3-1 at the Bridge last season. But I view these matches as free hits. That is, if we get anything from them, it's a bonus. I fully expect us to get turned over, though, so my focus is on the bottom four losing. Watford have already lost yesterday, so we just need the bottom three to lose and then we won't have lost any standing.
I can't believe how busy I have been with my tutoring
I had 19 hours of work for November and have already worked 19 in December. The number should go above 40 before the Christmas break!!
The team news out of the Bridge:
Chelsea: Mendy, Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, James, Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Alonso, Werner, Havertz, Mount.
Subs: Arrizabalaga, Christensen, Lukaku, Pulisic, Saul, Barkley, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Sarr.
Leeds: Meslier, Shackleton, Ayling, Llorente, Firpo, Forshaw, Raphinha, Dallas, Roberts, Harrison, James.
Subs: Klaesson, Gelhardt, Cresswell, Drameh, Summerville, McKinstry, Klich, McCarron, Jenkins.
Referee: Chris Kavanagh (Lancashire)
Six Academy players named on the bench today!
Wahay - the boys are coming out and getting a great ovation from the away crowd.
Gerrard gets a nice round of applause fro the Anfield crowd. Not sure why NBCSN isn't show this match
EVERY TIME I open up a match on the Cock it opens up to a frozen screen...I have to always close it and open it at least twice before it works!
Ederson earned himself an eighth clean sheet and Ben Mendy will hope to do the same to equal Alisson on top of the keeper's charts. I'm obviously hoping that we can spoil his day.
Back from a refreshing shower and ready for the 10 AM matches. I will be watching all three. Two on the telly and Chelsea vs Leeds on the computer
Bielsa and TT having a chinwag now. And we're ready to go. Come on, you Whites!
We are off at Anfield
Of course the Cock is delayed but off there too
MOT! We get the ball rolling at the Bridge.
I always have to open the page on Peacoick , close it then reopen it. Not sure why
Leeds wearing their white but with yellow socks
That brings back memories
Glad you're able to get tutoring hours . I did for sixteen years and the extra money sure was handy
First chance for Chelsea - Werner gets to the by-line but Meslier smothers his cross.
As you two mentioned and the studio did multiple times, the big story of the day is Stevie G's return to Anfield
Raph concedes the first corner for Chelsea. Mark 'em up!
Not sure if you'd answered this before David but what are you plans? When is the move?
Bob, you're off to Virginia? For how long?
Peter Gabriel booked for a naughty Gunners challenge . I've seen red given fo those
The movers are coming on Monday and we close on the house Wednesday . Planned move in is for next Saturday. We're really excited,
Agreed, Dave. Really stupid by Jimenez. What was he thinking
I guess the yellow socks are to avoid the clash with Chelsea's white socks.
As predictable, we're having trouble getting out of our own half. It looks as if James and Raph are the only outlets.
The Tigers take the lead vs Bristol City . That's not idle gossip
No one predicted Raul Jimenez to get the second yellow for the silly offense.
Nice kick block by Meslier off a Reese James pass then the rebound is straight to him
Jamie Shackleton fouls Marcos Alonso
Shackleton concedes a free kick out wide right. Chelsea can swing this one in. Mark 'em up!
How has the match at the Em started? Anyone following?
PEA dropped again for being a naughty boy
Reese James tries a cheeky one, as he saw Meslier cheating off his line.
Free kick from Reese James bent too much and went harmlessly out
I'm watching it. Soton have actually started well and just pulled a decent save out of Ramsdale.
It looks like the Saints have dominated early doors. and Ramsdale made a near post save
Pool want a pen...nothing given
What the hell are Leeds doing....just got away with it!
WHY DO TEAMS DO THAT CRAP!!!!!
Leeds are not playing the same way as they did last year
They have started playing "like their supposed to"
Black Cats on top vs Argyle as are the Real Dons at high flying Wycombe
Stevie G said he will celebrate a goal if they score
Black Cats now third, behind Rotherham and Wigan on goal difference
The right decision by Stevie G
Our shape looks good so far, ten minutes in.
I agree, Dave - we haven't been as freewheeling as we were last season. It's disappointing.
Pompey takes the lead vs Morecambe and None Too Wise. Congratulations, Dave
Pompey take an early lead at FP vs Morc and Wise
Already received some vids from my cousin from the match
Geez....Leeds go all the way across their own box near the goal line....give away a corner!!
I JUST DON'T GET IT!
Fake Dons take a Real lead vs Oxford shoes
MOT!
Loftus-Cheek tries a cheeky one from distance. Nothing doing.
The "greatest defender of all time" goes into the book
Free kick comes to nothing
Oxford Shoes tie it up as the Fake Dons and the Black Cats go two up vs Argyle
First real attack from us wins a corner. Harrison with the blocked shot.
Leeds win a corner....shame the ball didn't get out to Harrison earlier
Shot from Raph blocked then cleared for a corner
Oh - decent strike from Raph - wins another corner.
Corner headed out...Raph's shot blocked for a second corner
Useless second corner....straight to the first man!!!
STUNNING
Just pulled up the Gunners' match on my phone
Saka booked for a foul just outside the Gunners box. JWP to take
Saints have a free kick
