Lakenheath Old Boys
We are all former students at Lakenheath High School and other public schools in East Anglia. We were in school in the 70s and 80s and drank deeply from the well of British culture of those decades - the pints, the telly, and of course the footie!

Good Morning, Bob. Thanks for getting us started. Your United his on the Cock and ours is on NBCSN
This is Ralf Ranick's first match in charge
Morning, David - great to have you on board this morning to watch our Uniteds battle.
Thanks , Bob. Looking for our Uniteds to win vs London clubs today
I think I heard the announcer state that Ivan Toney was out because he has COVID. That will help Leeds
It's a return to ER for Bob's mate, Pontus
They're off from OT
COME ON MAN UNITED!
They're off from ER!
COME ON LEEDS
WHAT THE EARY STARt does Telles is that United will get chances but they may be well off target
Bob, I don't see Ivan Toney in the starting lineup. That must be encouraging
The coverage for the Leeds match has started on the Cock, but everything seems a bit behind. Teams just coming out, whilst United have already started on NBC Sports.
In the Cup, Argyle 1-2 ahead at Rochdale late on while Wigan 1-2 ahead at Colchester with about fifteen minutes remaining
It's a tonic to hear that Ivan Toney has tested positive for Covid and will miss out this morning.
The Leeds starting XI this morning: Meslier, Ayling!, Llorente, Coop, Junior, Kal, Forshaw, Dallas, James, Raph, Tyler.
PHEW! Chance for Palace as United were sliced apart but thankfully fell to Beneteke, who sliced it and not was easily saved by De Gea. Ben normally doesn't Take his chances away
I'm finally up to the right time now - my stream just skipped ahead six minutes, and Brentford have a corner. Mark 'em up!
Ivan Toney out. You must be delighted
Brentford pressing in the early stages - knock it off!
Zaha shoots straight at De Gea. Not a great Start for United early on
Same with Palace . they need to knock it off too.
Lucas Moura has given Spurs the lead vs the Canaries > Bob will want Moura that , but not the two Daves
Spurs up to fifth ahead of the Gunners and United
Mbeuma is going to be a nuisance for us. Had a half chance there but half volleyed it wide.
Coop has a problem now - down for treatment.
Canaries rock bottom due to their wretched goal difference
OUCH! That doesn't look good as it appears that Mini Cooper twisted ankle based on the replay
That is good news for us - it keeps Norwich at bay on 10 points.
Looks like Coop has done his hammy. Luke Ayling will have to push over to the middle and Matty Klich is being prepared.
Now it appears that Jack Harrison is coming on - a bit of confusion on the bench.
Jack Harrison for Mini Cooper. That's not exactly like for like, so who will be in the center of defense for Leeds?
We really haven't got going yet in these opening fifteen minutes - come on, you Whites!
That long throw from Goode was anything but. More Ayling as it was cleared by Luke
Leeds should be doing better as the Bees don't have Ivan Toney in the lineup today
I assume that we're going to revert to a back three, with Luke shifting over and Dallas and Firpo being the wingbacks.
Celtic won 0-3 at Dundee United and remain second, for pints behind Rangers
That makes sense. I guess Jack Harrison would bee an out an out winger
First real attack through James but the crosses are going to be gobbled up by our old friend Pontus Jansson. We're going to have to play it short.
To Bee ot not Bee, mate? That is the question
The crosses have to get better. Just long hopeless balls being thrown in.
Better pressure from us now.
Both of our Uniteds needs a goal right now!
Chance for United. Rash cut back a pass and CR shot straight at Guaita
Two final scores in the Cup
Rochdale 1 Argyle 2
Colchester 1 Wigan 2
It's all Leeds now - but no real chances as of yet.
Leeds by kicking off , move up to fifteenth place, behind Saints on goals scored. Leeds has scored one less
YESSSS!!!!!!!
A great ball in and Tyler Roberts scores his first goal of the season!
1-0 Whites!
GOAL ! WAY HAY ! TYLER ROBERTS HAS GIVEN LEEDS THE LEAD OFF A CROSS FROM RAPH. GOODE WAS ANYTHING BUT AS HE PASSED STRAIGHT TO TYLER ROBERTS AT THE HALFWAY LINE. HE PLAYED IT WIDE LEFT TO RAPH WHOSE CROSS WAS HEADED OUT THEN HIS SECOND ONE DIVERTED IN BY ROBERTS
Tyler Roberts brooked for a lunge on Norgaard
Ridiculous - Tyler is booked after being shoved by one Brentford player into another. Free kick out wide right now. Mark 'em up!
Congratulations, Bob. Well done Leeds
OH! Just over by Tyler Roberts
Oh - nearly a second for Tyler. Flicked over by the keeper.
Nat Clyne booked for a late challenge on Fred
Now we just need a goal for your United, mate.
Leeds up to 11th place ahead of the Bees, Saints , Palace , and Villa. Villa play the Foxes in the late one
OH ! ball played wide left to Sancho and he cute in then his shirt was deflected on top of the net for the corner. The closest either team has come to scoring
Raph fulls of tricks as usual.
Ralf not looking pleased in the stands and I don't blame him. it's been a mediocre United performance
Junior Firpo earns us a corner now - come on!
Oh - nice turn and cross from Tyler. No one was challenging but it earns a corner.
Pontus cuts in from t of the keeper to slide clear for a corner off a pass from Tyler Roberts
Lord Bamford patrolling the touchline - he's ready for action!
Reunion day at ER. Pontus formerly of Leeds and Adam Forshaw formerly of the Bees
Yes, it is - I'm hoping that Adam is the one on the winning side.
Here's an interesting stat, Bob. Leeds eight pints from safety , but nine points off a CL spot. That sounds like mid table form
Potters take the lead at Loftus Road. Stoke replace Coventry in the final sixth place playoff spot
A minute of stoppage time at OT
A trio of those minutes at ER
The first half is winding down. I'll be happy with going in 1-0 up and then reorganizing things. Hopefully Lord Bamford is ready to come on.
A chance for Dalot at the end of the half and he curls a shot not too far wide
Kal tries from distance - well over the mark.
It's 0-0 at the half at OT. Not good enough
Into stoppage time at ER
Charlie Goode goes into the book for a soft one. Free kick out wide left now.
That was not a Goode challenge from Goode and he's booked for a foul on Tyler Roberts
Let's make the most of this one!
Spurs one up at the half vs the Canaries
Half-time: I'm really pleased to see us go in 1-0 up. It hasn't been the most fluid performance but we've been on top for most of the half.
Leeds one up at the half vs the Bees
Becky just mentioned that Palace have won on their last two visits to OT. Let's hope it's not three.
Roon in attendance at OT. He should be focused more on managing the Rams
United getting prepared to start again; we need you lot to take care of Palace for us in the second half.
The second half is underway from OT. Let's do better in the second half, United
Leeds boys coming back out again. I don't see Lord Bamford among them yet, so obviously he's not quite ready to play a full half.
Agreed, Bob. I didn't realize that Palace have won on their last two visits to OT. Let's not make it three
Second half underway from ER. Lets' get more Leeds
The last time Leeds and the Bees met in the top flight was 1947 when both were partners in relegation
Just a reminder for Bob that Ivan Toney out due to testing positive for COVID. That must sting Leeds's opponents
Interesting ball there from Firpo to James - just couldn't quite anticipate it.
Long range shot from Bruno lands in Row H. let's do better
Dan James earns a soft free kick for us in an interesting position for Raphinha.
Oh - Great ball in and Luke flew at it. Saved by Fernandez.
OH! Leeds nearly went to up. Great free kick from Raph and Alvaro Fernandez athletically saved an Ayling header. The replay shows it came off his shoulder
Really good pressing from us in midfield now.
Oh dear - now it's Kal Phillips down needing treatment. We can't afford to lose him.
Fred and Jordan Ayew down off a collision. Both went for the ball, but a bit late from Fred
BUGGER!SHANNON BAPTISTE HAS TIED IT UP FOR THE BEES! SORRY, BOB
Bugger! Brentford score out of nothing. Should have snuffed that out in the corner.
VAR check - let's hope!
Kal Phillips has gone off and Matty Klich has replaced him. VAR check is over and it's a goal.
1-1.
A really bad minute for us there with Kal going off injured and conceding a goal.
The goal came out of the middle of nowhere . t restarted at the back for the Bees after a stoppage in play. Long ball from Ethan Pinnock played wide left top Rico Henry and he cut inside two Leeds defenders . Then he passed to Sergio Canos who passed to Baptiste for a great first time finish from near the D
Somehow we're on the rack now - come on, boys - get a grip!
Firpo could easily have conceded a penalty there. He was all over the Brentford man. We've dodged a bullet there.
Sorry about that, Bob. I know you don't want to read this, but you were probably hoping it was John the Baptist with the chance instead of Shandon. Sound about right?
The story of United's season . Corner take short then a horrible cross to absolutely nobody that goes out of play
Luke Ayling is down needing treatment now after taking one in the face. Meanwhile Lord Bamford continues to warm up.
Potters one up at the half at Loftus Road
I don't get it - we were in total control of this match and suddenly we look like we're going to give them another.
Phew! A really close call.
Bugger! They have scored now - Canos with a second.
BUGGER! SERGIO CANOS GIOVES THE BEES A 1-2 LEAD A MINUTE AFTER HE MISSED A CHANCE. JUNIOR FIRPO GIFTED POSSESSION AND THEN SOME NICE ONE TOUCH PASSING TO GIVE CANOS THE CHANCE
Oh dear - Canos seems to have received a bottle to the head from one of our supporters. That's not good.
Shandonm Baptiste and then Bryan Mbuembo with the nice through ball for Canos to score, but Leeds shouldn't have gifted the Bees possession. sorry, Bob
We need Lord Bamford on straight away just to gee up the crowd and the team; otherwise this one is getting away from us.
Poor from the supporters , but taunting Leeds fans is never a great option
That's better - nice ball in from Jack and it was a close call with players coming in on it.
Oh - Rico Henry nearly gifted us with an o.g. Corner.
Bees now tenth ahead of the Foxes on goal difference. Leeds now 16th , five points clear of the drop zone and behind the Toffees on goal difference
Like for like as Eddie the Odd Son on for Beneteke, who thankfully didn't take any away today
Davinson Sanchez with a rare goal puts the Spuds two ups vs the Canaries
There he goes - Lord Bamford is getting prepared to come on, to a huge ovation from the crowd.
A standing ovation as Lord Bamford warms up on the touchline
That's good news for us - we can't afford for Norwich to get anything today.
OH! Telles with a cross that actually clips the top of the bar. What that does Telles is that United still haven't scored
Lord Bamford comes on for Firpo - great attacking move from the boss.
Peacock is almost a minute behind. Bloody ridiculous for paying customers
We need two goals in the last twenty minutes here - come on!
Bamford on for Junior Firpo, who had a bit of a mare. The bees bring Fran Onyeka on for Shandon Baptiste . Bob wishes it was John the Baptiste
Bruno should have done better with that effort.
Ralf will have United work on their finishing. Only two out of fifteen shots on target, which is the story of the match
Lovely stuff from Raph, earning us a useful free kick now.
Phew! That was a close call for United.
PHEW! Palace could have scored. Corner headed on then Joirdan Ayew with a pass that Guehey missed at the far post. United let off the hook
Jack picks up a yellow card for a late one.
Number One Son puts Spuds three up vs the Canaries
WAY HAY! UNITED TAKE THE LEAD
Wahay! United get the goal that you needed.
Fred the unlikely goalscorer.
The Elland Road crowd are getting a bit testy and impatient.
This match is starting to boil over because the ref has let too much go. Klich into the book.
It came off a lengthy possession and the nice thing is that it was from playing Ralf Ball. It culminated with a p[ass from Masoin Greenwood then Fred , of all players, with the first goal in the Ralf era. Curled it in the upper 90 from the D
We've got fifteen minutes to dig this one out.
As things stand , United now in sixth place , but that will change if the Gunners win at Goodison tomorrow
Now Rico Henry is booked for his reaction to giving away a foul.
Palace down to 12th place, a point ahead of Leeds
Hi Boys
Just checking in for a minute
Had a tough day yesterday. I had to go to Urgent Care for a toothache. I was there for about six hours and didn't get home until after 1am. The pain never supsided until around 2am. I was finally able to get some sleep but still not feeling great
Good goal from Fred
COME ON LEEDS!
Training pitch routine from Raph to Klich - shot blocked.
De Gea down injured for United and he must have learned from Martin Atkinson's error as he stopped play
Hiya, Dave - so sorry to hear that you had some dental issues. I hope that they were able to pull that tooth for you.
Good morning, Dave. Sorry about the pain you had. Glad you're on board and perfect timing
Ralf getting advice from one of the assistants left from the OGS era,, telling me that Ralf is fluent in English
I hopefully am seeing the dentist tomorrow
It's actually Maguire down, who is getting his forehead wrapped for his troubles
Good pressure from us now, but we need to make it count.
Hopefully they can pull the tooth, as Bob stated.
Not a great United performance, but we lost the last vs Palace at OT , so I guess this is some sort of progress
A standing ovation for Bruno , who had a quiet match. He's replaced by VDB
Raph is booked now for breaking up a counter. Dangerous free kick position.
Rapg booked for pulling down Wissa. That wasn't a Wissa choice
Into the wall - phew! Come on!
James Thomkins brings down VDB in a promising position for United
Free kick cleared for a United corner
Brentford have dropped really deep since scoring, just protecting their lead now.
Raph jinks inside but his shot is completely off-balanced.
well wide from Raph from 25 yards out
A quintet of stoppage time minutes at OT
Nearly into stoppage time now - we need a miracle now just to rescue a point.
Lindelof stupidly booked for bringing down Zaha. No need to give Palace chances to equalize
Five minutes of stoppage time to rescue a point.
Same amount of stoppage time at ER.
Thankfully, the same amount t of stoppage time at ER
Oh - Raph found James really well but Dan smashed the cross well over everyone. Shame.
De Gea forced to tip over a cross that would have crept in un der the bar for a late palace corner
Time for one last chance now. Come on!
One last chance now from the corner. Come on!
The Spuds have defeated the Canaries 3-0
PHEW! It's over at OT and United held on to win 1-0.
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
Lord Bamford rescues a point for us!!!!!
Elland Road goes potty!
WAY HAY! DESMOND AT ER. A LATE EQUALIZER FROM BAMNFORD OFF THE BENCH.
Pure delirium for Patrick.
Not a classic goal but we'll take it. A corner was met by an Ayling header and kneed off the underside of the bar from Bamford
It finishes Desmond at ER and I guess you'll take that considering the circumstances
Congrats for the late goal!!!
Fred scores a winner!!
Stunning
Take care boys...sorry I have a miss today
Leeds now 14th ahead of Saints on goals scored by one goal and behind Villa and Palace on goal difference spending the late match. Leeds now half a dozen points clear of the drop zone
Cheers Dave. Great chatting. Hope you feel better
This news just in. Toffees director of football has resigned after the Toffees had an emergency board meeting on Friday
It's 2-2 at full time, then. Going into the match, my patented rubric said that we needed three points against a newly promoted club at home. But given how that match played out, it seems more like a point earned than two points dropped. My heart!
Congratulations, Bob. I know you wanted a win, but well done on that late equalizer
The late one is Villa vs Foxes. Stevie G vs the Bridge. They have been opposing managers in the Old Firm Derby and Stevie G played for the Brodge late in his Liverpool career. They are all but familiar with each other
Wil,you be around for the late match
Let's hope that the Foxes can do the business against Villa now.
I'm going to take a celebratory shower, so I'll be a bit in and out.
Cheers, Bob. Likewise
Villa vs the Foxes underway from Villa Park
The Potters won 0-2 at Loftus Rop]ad and move up to sixth place ahead of Coventry. QPR is in Fifth place
In an all non league tie in the Cup Kidderminster two up vs Halifax. One of those two will join Yeovil as a non league club in the Third Round
GOAL ! HARVEY BARNES GIVES THE FOXES THE LEAD ON GOAL THAT CAME OUT OF NOTHING. DAKA RECEIVED A SHOPRT PASS, TUNRED A DEFENDER THEN PASSED TO HRVEY BARNES TO BASICALLY PASS IT INTO THE CORNER
GOAL ! VILLA TIES IT UP. NO THEY DON'T IT'S DISALLOWED
GOAL ! IT DOES COUNT AFTER A VAR CHECK FOR OFFSIDE. FREE KICK FROM DOUG LUIZ POORLY HEAED BY JONNY EVANS THEN HEADED BY MATTY CASH AND BUENDIA CASHED IN TO HEAD IN THE EQUALIZER
