If It's Tuesday...
...it's time for some Premier League football. I've wrapped up my work for today and am settling in enjoy this afternoon's Premier League fare. All of the matches are of interest to Leeds fans, as they feature relegation threatened sides. We start at 2:45pm with Newcastle v. Everton - I'd love a scoreless draw in that one, but I worry that Everton, who we play at the weekend, might get a bump from bringing in Frankie Lamps. Along with that one, there is West Ham v. Watford - of course I'll take a home win there to keep Watford down in the dumps. Both of those matches are on The Cock.
The featured match on USA this afternoon is Man Utd away to Burnley. United have had a turbulent week, what with the Mason Greenwood scandal and their FA Cup exit to Boro on Friday. The Clarets, meanwhile, are in a peculiar situation, as they're rooted to the bottom on 13 points but have several matches in hand on their relegation rivals. It should be fascinating.
Brew yourself a cuppa and join me from 3pm then.

The coverage of the West Ham v. Watford match is about to begin on The Cock.
Afternoon Bob
My 2 o'clock session got canceled so I am here with bells on
No pre-game on the telly because of the Olympics
Looks like USA will join Turf Moor at the kick off
I've tuned in the Newcastle Everton match on the Cock
DA and DVDB both not starting again
Can't believe Zouma is starting for the Hammers
No way he should be playing. He is going to get booed by everyone
Leeds get a point tomorrow at Villa Park and Brentford lose by 4 at the Etihad....Leeds will overtake the Bees
They are off at SJP
We're away from Upton Park....
The match is on 5Live so I am going to tune in West Ham match
Afternoon, Dave - great to have you on board.
Of course, I could do with a couple of points dropped by the Hammers
Will there be a Woy bounce for the Hornets?
Sorry to hear that your 2 pm cancelled but I'm sure you've got a lot going on besides.
Good Afternoon, Bob and Dave. Back from raking leaves and ready to join
That's my hope for the match tomorrow - a point from both of the next two matches away to Villa and Everton would ease the nerves.
I sec and that. I have had sessions canceled at the last minute but at least we get to enjoy the pleasure of your company
Hiya, David - how are things in NC today?
As Dave mentioned, USA is forgoing the typical Becky Lowe intro in favor of more tedious Winter Olympics nonsense. Joining Turf Moor at kickoff - disgraceful.
The Hammers were really flat against the non-leaguers at the weekend - I hope they pull their fingers out today.
In terms of Leeds, Hammers , Toffees, and United wins. A Toffees win for Leeds because only three teams ago down and that would leave the Toon in further trouble
In terms of Un iced a United win, a Hornets win , and the other match doesn't really affect United
Things are going well in NC , thank you for asking . Lovely afternoon weather, but some really chilly nights. How is everything in ENY and WNY?
Afternoon David
I will be triple dipping today
West Ham match on the computer
Newcastle match on the radio
Man U match on the telly
AND Kathy is about to deliver me a cup of tea!
I'm following suit and watch Toon vs Toffees
Well, we had another three or four inches that I shoveled this morning. I'm going to be thoroughly pumped up by the end of this winter.
Shelvey straight to Picks from the D off a pass from St. Max
Good Afternoon, Dave. I'm only double dipping and well done from Kathy
Lovely - I'm enjoying a cup of chai tea and a couple of cookies that were dropped off by our next door neighbors.
I don't blame you, Bob. Fortunately we haven't had any snow in the last ten days
It's no worry - I got loads of work done this morning. Wrapped up a conference paper proposal for one in Philly in November and started working on another.
I had some water from all the raking , picking up litter, and wood with rusty nails
USA still on commercial they may be late showing the match
Mason Holgate booked for a late challenge
A full slate of matches in the top seven divisions. Half the Championship matches will be tomorrow, where Brucie will make his Baggies debut
Hate this joining at kick off....why did USA have to go back to the Olympic studio.... now they finally go to the match... and will go straight back after the match too!
Uselesss
USA arriving at a moment's silence as Sunday was the anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster
Bloody Hell! The dean of Officials in charge
I've turned over just in time for the kick-off at Turf Moor.
They're off from Turf Moor!
COME ON MAN UNITED!
It is so sad that I have absolutely no confidence with United in any game!
Arlo was the "studio guy"
We are off
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
COME ON MAN U
I think the Newcastle/Everton match is the more of the exciting game
I like these blue kits better than some of your other recent ones.
Watford go close in the first chance of match. Header headed wide
Took 17 minutes for the first chance...modern day football
CR 7 not happy at being benched. He has to expect that if he's out of form
I don't like the light blue/white one
Blue is good.... European Cup Final colors
I bought one of the ECF shirt when I went to OT
Townsend with a shot deflected for a Toffees corner
I like United's blue shirt. Light blue definitely the wrong choice to wear
Connor Roberts forced to clear for a United corner
United players don't know what to do with the ball in possession
Well, as they just said, you can't expect to play every match at 38.
Pleased to see Cavani playing
Cavani nearly in there but there was a bit of push.
Thomas Edison CXavani offside after a bout of head tennis from the short corner
He does
Agreed, Bob and Dave . Great tom see Cavani starting and agreed that CR 7 is too old to start every match
Coronet off key as he was offside off a long Burnley free kick
Sad
West Ham 0 attemptsl 0 on target
Watford 2 attempts 0 on target
A quarter of the match gone
Rams take the lead sv the Tigers and are only four pints from safety, and that's with the massive points deduction
United...Bruno...simple pass out to Sancho...behind him!
Rash with a shot saved
Oh - Rashford turned and shot - well saved by Nick Pope.
Rash with a near post shot pushed around for a corner
Corner 130...will we score from it...no... we go short
Not great value for the punters tonight. They deserve better.
Pope needs to bugger back to the Vatican
Delle Alli sandwiched on for Damari Gray for his Toffees debut
LOL, Bob! I agree about the Pope
Watford almost in again... comes to nothing
Sorry, Dave . I agree e with you about the Pope, but still LOL!
Tangerines take the lead at Coventry
GOAL! From the free kick, Varane rises to nod home. Great goal!
YES!!!
VARANE WITH A GREAT HEADER!!!
I think that might be the first goal from a set piece!!1
WAY HAY! VARANE WITH HIS FIRST UNITED GOAL AS HE HEADS IN A FREE KICK FROM BRUNO TO GIVE UNITED THE lead. well placed header
The Pope had no chance with that one.
What's this? A VAR check?
What is VAR checking
Weghorst , who scored 25 Bundesliga goals for the VWs signed a s a replacement for Chris Wood. Between Weghorst and Coropnet non excuses for Burnley not scoring goals
Geez...he's going to the screen
That means it is going to be called off
Bloody hell - Mike Dean is going to have a look now!
Ruled out - what a nonsense!
NO GOAL!
This sport is ruined
VAR to check for a push on Maguire or is it for offside?. Dean going to the monitor. Doesn't sound good I've seen harder pushes from grannies. It's disallowed for side . Still 0-0. BUGGER!
It is so stupid!!
Sorry. Disallowed for offside
No way that would ever called off in the entire history of the sport
Does the Premier League want to actually have goals? Or not?
VAR will never go away but really should!!
Great close range block by Picks from Joe Linton
VAR checking for a change of a yellow to a red for a Shelvey tackle
What a numpty
The radio says it was a scissor kick tackle
Shelvey booked for a nasty challenge on Anthony Flash Gordon.
Cottagers eight points clear of second placed Blackburn as Mitrovic gives then the lead sv the Evil Lions
YES!!
POGBA!!
HOW CAN VAR TAKE THIS BACK?
GOAL! Pogba! Hopefully this one will count!
WAY HAY!C POGBA GIVES UINITED THE LEAD! Will this count
5Live surprised the it wasn't a red... VAR is so inconsistent
Everton take the lead
Great team goal from United, starting with a lobbed pass from Bruno out to Rash, who found Shaw on the overlap and Pogba smashed the pull-back in with some zest.
0-1!
That Shaw was a nice assist for Pogba to score from . Started with a long goal kick then headed wide left to Rash who Shaw placed a nice pass so there was an assist for Pogba
West Ham... go very close...almost a great couple minutes in three grounds for Bob
First Toffees Prem goal in the Lamps era is an OG from Lascelles
Newcastle ties it up!!
United get the ball in the net again.... called off again
Wahay! United are 2-0 up!
No - this one's been flagged off.
BUGGER! CAVANI WITH A GOAL DISALLOWED FOR OFFSIDE
United better get a second soon...do they remember the Boro match
Goal called back for a foul by Pogba
Not dislallowed for offside, but a supposed foul by Pogba for a tap on Martin Pieters
Not sure what was wrong with that one - own goal by Brownhill in the end. A foul? I didn't see it.
United should be 0-3 up at this point - Burnley are all over the place.
Not much of a foul by Pogba
All players are wimps
USA behind 5Live by at least 20 seconds
I hate it
SHOW IT LIVE
Someone's down for United - is it Pogba?
Rash was in there but nudged off by Tarkowski.
In the match at SJP , Lascelles has scored for both sides . No it's an OG by Mason Holgate. Both goals then OPGS off set pieces. The header from Lascelles was on target and deflected off of Holgate on the line
Derby two up at home to Hull
They are only 4 points away from safety
What a comeback by the Rams! Can they survive
Why wasn't that a pen? Blatant shove by Tarkowski.
Watford break... I think it was a pen but the flag is up
SO INCONSISTENT
Sunderland take the lead at Cheltenham....is Keane going take over there?
I'd love it if Derby were able to stay up - they deserve it.
Tight at the bottom. Burnley , bottom three points behind Caries , Toon, and Hornets. Hornets out fo the drop zone on goal difference. Canaries back in
United should be three of four up...alas...a goal away from dropping points
Rams two up vs the Tigers .
Coventry ties it up vs the Tangerines and Luton takes the lead vs Rock bottom Barnsley
Agreed, Bob about the Rams. Definitely deserve to stay up
Tractor Boys in the lead at rock bottom, Donny Trump. Pompey two up bus Richard Burton.
Congrats, Dave
United had a chance to break there...two passes...two simple passes behind the target and it slows everything down!
An LOB blogging trip of stoppage time minutes at SJP
goalless at the London Stadium at half time
Come on United....let's get another one!!
Halftime and it's Hammers 0 Hornets 0. That's a game and a half with Unlce Woy in charge and nary a goal for the spectators
I've just noticed that both of the goals SJP were o.g.'s - when was the last time that happened?
STRUTH...HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN!
Shaw's shot blocked.... Cavani header saved!
Oh - what a save by Pope from Cavani - point blank.
OH! Cavani should have scored . Header from as yard out saved by the Pope. after a shot Shaw was deflected
It's 1-1 at the half at SJP. Botht goals were OGS
VAR would have taken that off as well
Half time at SJP
I have turned off the match in London and went up to the Northeast
Not sure, Bob. I think both sides score OGs a couple of times a season, but nort sure when the last time was
Barnsley wake up and tie it up in Bedfordshire , but still rock bottom
Everton had to make two changes...DVDB wouldn't get a game as a Toffee either
Harry Maguire is bossing the Burnley new boy Weghorst so far.
Barnsley were in the playoffs last season
They finished fifth
Bruno with the ball in the box
He has been rubbish
I'm really pleased by how the one here and at SJP is going. Just need the Hammers to wake up.
Strange how Barnsley declined so much in one season. The manager the took them to the playoffs left to become manager of the Baggies then got sacked and replaced by Brucie
Still can't believe it is still only 1-0
This is United every game!!
I would think A Toon loss would be great leaving them in the drop zone . I think the Toffees will finish mid table. I think that's slightly better than a draw.
Agreed, Dave. It's like the Teesiders all over again
Rash with another shot at the back post...saved
Go to the far post!
Oh - Sancho weaved his way through and had a shot blocked off that came to Rash who fired at Pope.
Rash with a near post shot kick saved by the Pope
OH! Nice long ball from the back, but Rash chest control as it went straight to the Pope.
So, if Everton will finish mid table then it would be better for a Newcastle win tonight
It's a really attractive match now - both sides taking swings.
Rash with a shot blocked then deflects to Cavbani whose shot is blocked for a corner. Nice counter
If someone had to win tonight, yes, I'd like to be Newcastle. We've got Frankie Lamps' Everton at Goodison on Saturday.
Another corner....another short one!
and a shot blocked down
ABSOLUTLEY PATHETIC
All your big guy come up into the box.... the ball never goes even close to going into it!
Thankfully , Burnley his a crap team or else that blocked by McTomain could have gifted Burnley a goal
I think a Toffees won is he lesser of the Evils as it would leave the Toon in the drop zone . Then Burnley , Hornets and Canaries would be the other strugglers. Of those four, three will surely go down unless the Bees get sucked in
A pair of stoppage time minutes at Turf Moor
Too late Beglin. I mentioned t he Teesiders almost ten minutes ago. Get with the program
Rash loses the ball...sometimes he isn't sure what to do with the ball
Half time
Typical United....only one nil
United one up at the half, but it should have been more
Well, the Bees will be down there before Leeds
Off they go at SJP
The second half is underway from Turf Moor
I'm still hopeful that Brentford will get sucked in to the relegation battle and that there will at least five sides below us battling to stay out of the dropzone.
Both the video and radio of the SJP match are women
Agreed, Dave., That's why I think Toffees ion would benefit Leeds in thew long run, if not necessarily the short run
Half-time at Turf Moor so I'm off to the match at Upton Park.
Karen Cairney, or Carney on the vid. Not sure who is on the radio
Rams three up vs the Tigers
Geez.... the panel is in LA
Mitrovic has 28 league goals. He had 26 the last time the Cottagers were promoted. Those extra sessions required by Kate really have helped
I don't think that I know Kate Cairney or Carney - any good?
That's really pathetic to be based in the USA on USA . More like ESPN
Carney is on the radio I think
What are West Ham playing at?
She is always the color guy not the main commentator
Potters take the lead vs the Swans . Potters now 11th, bout only three points outside a playoff spot, pending tomorrow's matches
Carney on Peacock unless she's on both
He does know what she's talking about
She has a Brummie accent
Well, the NBC Sports team (Becky, the two Robbies) are based in LA.
Cottagers two up vs the Evil Lions . Mitrovic at the double now up to 29 league goals. Great that Kate required extra training for Moitrovic . It's paid off
At Newcastle? That isn't her
Richard Burton pulls it back to 2-1 at Fratton Park
ZOuma should be banned , apology or not. Why was he included by Moyes. Are the Hammers saying animal cruelty is okay?
Yes Carney on Peacock at SJP. That's correct
Totally agree, David - I haven't seen the video - and won't watch it - but that's completely unacceptable.
Spurs vs Saints on the telly tomorrow. I'd rather Villa vs Leeds on the telly
GOAL ! WEE RYAN GIVES TOON A 2-1 LEAD WITH A SCRAPPY GOAL OFF A DELFLECTED CROSS FROM ST. MAX
I leave the room for a second...Toon take the lead
Nice pass from Joe Linton wide left to St. Max . His cross deflected off Seamus Coleman and the miss hit volley from Wee Ryan help in on the line by Townsend. Will that be credited as an OG?
Toffes with a free kick just outside the Toon box
No, Carney isn't on the mic at SJP
DVDB about to come on
Poor free kick from Roich Arlison into the wall then a shot from 25 yards out from Flash Gordon straight to Du Brave
Who is on the mic at SJP? I thought it was her
Toon out of the drop zone , and replaced by Hornets. Hornets and Canaries two pints behind the Toon
I fear Watford will start to rise because of Woy
I'm totally bored with the match at Upton Park, so I'm happily turning back over to USA as the teams are coming back out again.
Not sure but I know Carney's voice and it isn't her
Back out for Turf Moor
Luton takes a 2-1 lead vs Barnsley
Second half underway from Turf Moor
I don't trust United to hold on or extend their lead
Thanks for the clarification, Dave
Burnley staring on the front foot
This team drives me nuts
