Good morning Bob and Happy Boxing Day!!
You can take your little ditty and shove it up your left nostril.

I am around today. I may be kicked off the living roon TV for the boys to play Wii, so I won't be able to comment the whole time.
I will kick them off for the 10 o'clock games.
I will check it in once in a while.
COME ON READING!!!!!

Blogger United We Stand said...

Who do you think will win the game on right now?
They both got thumped on the weekend.

8:04 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good wide-open start at WHL

8:07 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

We start with the cracking good game - Spurs vs. Villa.

Morning, Davey - you're a brave soul allowing that Wii gadget into your house. Watch out for the flying wristband!

I expect a draw from this one - very evenly matched.

8:10 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm of course keeping a close eye on Chelski vs. Reading - Reading gave the champions a hell of a good game earlier in the season. Let's hope they can take some points off them.

8:11 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

How many keepers are Reading going to knock out today?

8:12 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Not a good sign at The Bridge

1303: It takes Chelsea less than 75 seconds to threaten Reading's goal. Dider Drogba and Frank Lampard combine, but the England man is just wide with a bit of a scuffed effort.

8:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, that would be interesting to see again today. Last time, John Terry ended up between the sticks.

Soton have taken an early lead against Palace in the Coke. Good result, that. Palace on 29 points are still catchable.

8:14 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Paul Robinson got a lot of stick after his performance against Newcastle at the weekend. Is he still England's #1?

8:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Sotton's goal wasn't that early. It says it was the 47th minute. It must have been a Noon kick off

8:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Palace just tied it up after 54

8:16 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Wow, that was an early kick-off. Shame about the equalizer. Come on Burley's Army!

8:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

To answer your other comment.
Who knows who is England's #1???
James has been playing well but he can always become Calamity James at a drop of the hat.

8:18 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

More ominous signs from the 365 ticker:

1313: In-form Chelsea striker Didier Drogba forces a good save from Reading 'keeper Marcus Hahnemann as he tries to chip the ball over the American from close range.

8:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

They will go top for a few hours WHEN they win

8:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I agree - believe it or not I've never been 100% convinced by Robbo, even when he was with us. There really isn't a Gordon Banks-type figure that stands head and shoulders above the rest right now, is there?

8:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Pompey have scored Upton Park.
WHY COULDN"T UNITED HAVE DONE THAT

8:20 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh dear, sorry to hear that. West Ham don't need more problems. That sticks them down in the drop zone again, doesn't it?

8:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

If I haven't said it before, I'll say it now - Tom Huddleston is the bee's knees. I really like him. What we could do with a box to box flair midfielder like him at the Elland these days! I hear a lot of talk about him making the England squad next time. Perhaps, but whose place would he take? We've got an embarrassment of riches in that position.

8:23 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

He hasn't a hope of getting in when Lamps and Stevie are there.

West Ham were in the drop zone even before today's game.

8:29 AM

8:29 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

This Villa keeper really needs to get better bottoms. I know he always wear them. He wore them for Palace in the warm weather as well.
They should be banned. He looks like he just threw them on after getting out of bed.

8:31 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

We need something out of our match against Sunderland today. I'll take a point. I don't fancy the match on Saturday against Stoke - they're really flying these days.

8:31 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I agree - can it really be that cold? Foggy yes, but that cold?

8:32 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree. You definitely needs some points. I don't think you will get any today.
It is still very early to make up a couple of points to get out of the drop zone.

8:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

The problem for us is that the pack above the bottom four is starting to pull away. We need to start beating the teams around us and picking up draws against sides like Sunderland. They couldn't buy a goal earlier in the season before Keano came in.

8:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Keep it up you Yank!!!

1330: Marcus Hahnemann again pulls off a fine save to deny Didier Drogba. Frank Lampard's deep free-kick finds the big forward but his downward header is flicked round the post by the American keeper.

8:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, Marcus is having a blinder against Chelski today. Don't think much of the soul patch, though.

8:35 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Soul patch?

8:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

El Tel is there to watch Huddlestone?

8:37 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Why is Hahnemann always "the American keeper," though? Why not "the Reading keeper?" It's condescending, as if they're surprised that we can produce any quality. Any comments on the fate of Freddie Adu? ManYoo one week and Real Salt Lake the next.

8:37 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, Hahnemann compensates for the lack of hair by sporting the little patch of scruff under his bottom lip - the "soul patch" so to speak. Not a good look, IMHO.

8:38 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

He should be - I think Huddlestone should be in the England set-up. Agbonlahor and Barry too.

8:39 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

What is with these teammates knocking each other? It happened at Everton as well with Cahill

8:40 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I love it! Cardiff's slow slide down the table continues. They're one nil down to Plymouth - surely the surprise package of the Coke this season.

8:40 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Is that just sour grapes intended for Ridsdell(sp?)

8:41 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, that was Stevie Caldwell lookalike Lee Carsley with a clumsy challenge that nobbled Cahill. Completely changed their season did that.

8:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Pompey are two up.
PLAY UP POMPEY!!!!
Up to third for the moment

8:41 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Bugger,
Drogba has done it again

8:42 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

PRIMUS!!! Has scored both for Pompey.
On the hat-trick

8:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

It's Ridsdale, yes. But it's also Sam Hammam who I do not like. They're also another one of those Johnny Come Lately sides with some moneybags behind them making a thrust for the higher divisions. I do like Michael Chopra but I hope he'll get signed by a Premiership outfit in January.

8:43 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger! Drogba can't stop scoring can he. And double bugger for the Pompey goal. Come on you Hammers!

8:44 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Defoe is a ball hog. He never passes. I know a striker must shoot but great strikers always make the correct pass.

8:45 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Defoe is rubbish, I think. He just doesn't have the guile in front of goal that you would expect from an England international. I wouldn't have him in my squad.

8:46 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I agree. He gets the ball and goes for goal. Most of the time he gets stopped. Sometimes he scores but I don't rate him. Everyone seems to want and buy him though

8:48 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'd take Robbie Keane back at the Elland. He can't get a game in this Spurs side. All's forgiven Robbie - come on back.

8:48 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Off to the bedroom to watch the rest of the match.
Will be back and forth once in a while.

8:49 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Righto, Dave. I'll catch you for the 10 o'clock matches.

8:49 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Half time whistle. Again FSC have picked out the goalless game. It's not been without incident but I'd like to see a few fly into the net in the second half.

Pompey and Chelski are leading in there matches.

8:53 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Second half starting....Petrov has come off after running into his own player.

Spurs were the better side in the first half, but found it hard breaking down Villa. They could really use Aaron Lennon.

9:12 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger! Cardiff have scored two quickies and are now leading 2-1 over Plymouth.

9:18 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

GOAL! Good interplay between the front two and Defoe finishes well. 1-0 Spurs.

9:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Good goal from Spurs

Come on Reading!

9:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Danny Murphy coming on to replace Ghali. Another Villa player has gone down - but they've used all of their subs. Not a good day for Martin O'Neill.

9:33 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Drogba's got another - it's 2-1 Chelski. I believe that is his 12th goal in the Premiership.

9:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Soton and Palace have ended 1-1 with Jones seeing red for Soton. That puts Palace on 30 points.

9:38 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Lovely. Plymouth have got the equalizer against Cardiff. It's 2-2.

9:38 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

GOAL: Berbatov nods on from the goal kick and Defoe races through to smash in his second. He's on his hat-trick!

9:40 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Back in the living room.
WAY TO GO READING!!!
I couldn't believe when they scored first but then of course Chelski tie it up but they get another equalizer.
UNITED ARE STILL TOP!!!!!!!

Good ending to the Spurs Villa match.
Even though Defoe scored two I was more impressed with Berbatov

9:58 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh yes! Cashley has played one off Essien into his own net to give Reading an unlikely draw against Chelski. It was only a matter of time before the last minute heroics worked against them. I'm looking forward to seeing that last goal. You must be ecstatic Dave.

Pompey have beaten West Ham sadly. And Spurs were worthy victors against Villa.

9:59 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I agree. Berbatov won the match for Spurs with his approach play. He's the biz.

10:00 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Now, for the big matches! Come on you Whites!

10:00 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Now, all United have to do is take advantage.
I feel Wigan may give us a good game.
Looking forward to a quick start.
Kick off has just happened.

10:03 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

As for Defoe, he had a shot for a hat-trick but he should have passed it to Berbatov. You could see that Berba was a little annoyed. He would have passed it.

10:04 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Park almost scored with a great shot.

10:05 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Interesting starting line up for United

Man Utd
01 Van der Sar
06 Brown
15 Vidic
27 Silvestre
03 Evra
24 Fletcher
22 O'Shea
18 Scholes
13 Park
20 Solskjaer
08 Rooney
Substitutes
29 Kuszczak,
04 Heinze,
07 Ronaldo,
09 Saha,
23 Richardson

Scholes and Vidic are facing bans for yellow cards.
Do you know how many games it is for yellows?

10:07 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Oooh Rooney almost scored.
The commentator thought it was in and so did 76,000 people at OT

10:09 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

West Brom have scored against Preston

10:11 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I think it's a two match ban for the first six yellows then goes up to three games for the next batch and so on.

Why no Ronaldo today?

10:12 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Newcastle have score at Bolton.

10:13 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What is going on with Newcastle? Now they can't help but win. A goal from Kieron Dyer - there's one for the album!

10:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Give him a rest for the next two games.
Reading at home and Newcastle away. I am a little worried about that New Year's Day game. The Toon are on fire.

10:14 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

I didn't see the goal yet. The boys are playing Zelda

10:15 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

United are having a lot of chances. THEY HAVE TO PUT ONE IN

10:16 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Like to see Pool drop some points today at Ewood.

10:17 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm sure you would. From a neutral's perspective, I'd like to see you lot drop points and Pool and the Arse pick up some pace on the top two.

10:20 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Keep those thoughts to yourself!!!

Rooney comes close again

10:21 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Still 0-0 at the Stadium of Light - that'll suit me. Blow up ref - full time.

10:21 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

You need more than one point

10:22 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

No, if we can get two points from the next two games, I'd be satisfied.

Colchester have stuck one in against Luton. Lovely. They're now back on 29 points.

10:27 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Colchester United are winning.
Boy, what a surprise package they have been this season

Birmingham are beating QPR.

10:28 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Another good result for us! QPR back on 27 points now. It's all going to plan. Now lets have a goal for Burnley please, Father Christmas!

10:30 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Who do Leeds play on Sat and NYD?

10:31 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

We've got Stoke on Saturday. I don't fancy it - Stoke are on a tear recently. Coventry at home on New Year's Day. More reasonable. We'll be in Miami over the holiday weekend, so I'll have to rely on the lucky Leeds shirt to bring us some mojo.

10:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Rooney comes close again

10:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

You lot are 23rd. The shirt aint that lucky!!!
Barnsley have just gone in the lead

10:35 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Ooh, nice crack from Jamie Milner. We'd have him back too.

10:35 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Bugger! Come on Burnley!

10:36 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Still not watching. Can't get the kids off Wii

10:36 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

And QPR have just equalized. What's going on?

Come on Dave, you're the paterfamilias - exert some parental discipline, eh?

10:37 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Oh dear oh dear - one for the blooper reels. Ramage nods into his own net. Bolton have equalized. 1-1.

10:38 AM

10:43 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Cohester have scored again

10:44 AM

It's all happening at the Hawthorns. First Preston peg one back from the penalty spot and now Danny Dichio has been sent off for an elbow.

10:47 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Cambridge are losing at home to Rushen and D.

10:47 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Colchester are now in the playoff spot. Can you imagine them in the Premiership? Unbelievable!

10:48 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Gary Speed should have scored there against his old club.

10:49 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Half time at OT.
Disappointing 0-0
Just saw the Bolton goal.
Classic

10:50 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yeah, I don't fancy the Newcastle center backs at all. They really know how to pick 'em. I think Titus Bramble is due back next week!

10:51 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Same second half as Saturday please from United

10:52 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Half time at the Reebok - 1-1. Also 0-0 at Ewood Park and Stadium of Light. That'll suit me just fine.

10:52 AM

Great second half again

11:13 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Of course, Wigan did come back from 2-0 down against Chelski

11:15 AM

Surprise, surprise. "Spitty" Diouff picks up a yellow for dissent after a two footed challenge. He is a disgrace.

11:16 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Emre's coming on for the goalscorer Dyer.

Elsewhere Kuyt has replaced Crouchie at Ewood Pk.

11:17 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

May all the scores stay the same.
Then have Watford get something later.

Anelka scores again.

11:18 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Lovely. Southend are down to ten men at Carrow Road. Come on now, you Canaries.

Anelka sticks in a tap in after a mad scramble at the Reebok. Bolton 2-1 now.

11:18 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Hull have been pegged back by Leicester

11:19 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Yes! I'll take that scoreline. It keeps Leicester in the relegation battle and keeps us level with Hull.

11:20 AM

Alright, Diouff deserves a red card just for being a mouthy c--t.

11:21 AM

Birmingham are winning again.
Bruce was in trouble a couple of months ago, now look at them.
I think they have scored at least three goals in about 7 games on the trot.

11:27 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I'm concentrated about what's going on at the Stadium of Light. Still 0-0.

11:27 AM

Come on you Leeds boys! Time to scrap out an ugly draw. COME ON!

11:32 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

Fortunately Leicester have fashioned a goal against Hull and they're now level with us again on 21 points.

11:34 AM
Blogger United We Stand said...

It doesn't matter if your level with Hull. You both would go down

11:34 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

I know, I know, but the last thing we need is for Hull to start picking up points ahead of us. We need some company at the bottom! A goal now would have us leapfrogging them with Barnsley in our sights.

11:37 AM

11:56 AM
Blogger gatorbob said...

It's good to see Arsenal playing to front men in Ade and Van Persie, but they sure are making hard work so far with a very poor Watford side.

12:49 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

GOAL! Gilberto nods in Arsenal's first after some Keystone Cops defending from the Watford back four. That marking job won't get Jason Demerit into the U.S. squad. Blimey! The commentators were arguing over whether the defending was "comical" or "non-existent."

12:54 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

GOAL: Watford are level and its Arsenal's leaky defense to blame again. Eboue gets done on the left by the Watford speed merchant winger, a ball is whipped in and no one's picking up Tommy Smith. 1-1.

12:58 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Lovely jubbly.
Long may these scores from this day continue!!!!

1:13 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Watford are holding their own at half.
Long may it continue

1:22 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

Did you hear was Gus Poyet did at The Stadium of Light?
Some ballboy thought a ball was going out and accidently threw a ball on to the field while Leeds were on the attack. The ref had to blow the whistle for two balls being on the field.
A few minutes later, Sunderland were on the attack and he threw a ball on the field to have the play stopped. He was sent to the stands for being a little girly!!!

1:25 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

That's a great story!

What a miss from The Arse

2:14 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

RVP scores a good goal but why did the defender let him cut in on his left???? Make him go wide!!!
You knew he wanted his left

2:16 PM
Blogger gatorbob said...

What a strike from Van Persie! And the commentary team is absolutely right. The fullback should never have let him switch inside. That's got to be game over.

2:17 PM
Blogger United We Stand said...

3 points is good news for my boys but I tell you, it's annoying to have to keep resorting to these last minute heroics. I could tell that our mind-set was not right yesterday when I listened to the pre-match press conference and Arsene was all, "it should be a verry hard game. Zee Watford are competitors and eet won't be ezey for uz."

F**k off! Watford are tragic and while I don't want Le Boss or anyone saying something that's going to be tacked up on the Hornets dressing room wall to gee them up, it's just indicative of our lack of belief that Arsene feels the need to prepare the ground for another ordinary performance.

I know, I know, it could be worse(sorry Bob-san), but this season is really getting on my nerves.
